I wonder if Droid 3 have any way to add USB Host capabilities on it? To owner, do you experience any problem/complaint of this phone so far? I'm thinking to purchased one Droid 3.
Btw, when Ice Cream Sandwich released, any word from Motorola to give Droid 3 and update too? I wonder if ICS will give USB Host capabilities.
Thanks
USB Host
I have been working with the hardware end of this with no luck. I have tried wireing a micro usb hub, both powered and non powered. NO LUCK.
A bump on usb host support would be nice.

ICS is supposed to have USB hosting although Motorola has not announnced the D3 as being on the list of phone getting the update in the near future. I wouldn't worry about waiting for Motorola though, it seems that we have devs already booting it up on the D3. Even if you prefer it with motoblur, after an update is released for the Bionic, it will likely be ported to the D3 within days.

I guess this is as good of news as possible. Any idea on a time frame?

Hashcode posted a bootable port of ICS for the D3 on 11/29. While it lacks function of just about everything you would want in a smartphone, it does mean that he his already well on his way to getting a functional version of CM9 (ICS on steroids) ready for our phones. If I had to guess, I would say that we should see a beta version available before the end of the year.
On the other hand, if you want to wait for an official Motorola release of ICS, then I wouldn't plan on seeing that until late Feb. at the earliest.

While ICS supports USB hosting, I don't think its enabled in our GB kernel. :/ Once things slow down I'll figure out how to test it and get you a definative answer.
Appreciate it. Keep up the excellent work.

As the title states we maybe getting official Jelly Bean for our Droid 3, since it says most 2011/2012 devices. I don't see this being an issue with the dual 1GHz core maybe an issue for the lack of RAM.
What do you guys think?

This. It's been stated that most any device with 512MB RAM will NOT officially get ICS/JB (with 1 or 2 exceptions I believe/non-moto devices). I think at the very least phone companies want devices with 768MB RAM to upgrade to ICS.

I highly doubt it, the reason they are doing the $100 upgrade offer is because as they said not all 2011 devices are capable of running JB, or at least a bloatware filled version of it. The $100 upgrade offer is for the Droid 3 and Droid X2. If they get all of their other devices upgraded to JB by the end of the year then I will have some new found respect for them as its only just been recently that Google has made some changes at Motorola.
I wish you wouldn't use such a provocative headline as if you know this is a certainty.
I've seen that news clip from the Motorola presentation, and it would be great to get JB
but its still uncertain whether XT883 will be included.

Agreed. It's obnoxious to use a title like that, and then make only an ignorant and baseless supposition.

I have owned a ton of phones over the last 5 years. Apple is probably the best quality, but IOS blows. After the for quality Motorola is the best choice IMO.
They may have dropped the ball with the previous Atrix models, I work for AT&T and the Motorla spokesperson guy came in to review the Atrix HD with us, picking one up myself today probably, said they're rolling out Jellybean for it soon...Wether that means this year, or 2 years from now, who knows...but he said they WILL be updating it.

If they get this out soon it will be awesome, but if a dev pushes out a less bloated version, it will be amazing!! Either way the root is out and good things are to come for the AHD. So glad i didn't get a one x or a gs3!!!!

From what I understand Ubuntu Touch is still in the testing phase. Word is that Canonical will launch a stable build by the end of this month. So it mere days/weeks. The preview was beautiful. Personally excited to get my hands on it.
The only drawback I can anticipate will be the initial lack of apps. Which won't even take long to change I'm sure.
Currently on PA:3.15
Thank you to all the devs working on any ROM/app/mod/kernel grinding their finger tips to the bone.

I really don't see that happening at all (failing). Been following it up to this point of the preview being dropped. I realize its early to say but I feel that it was the first OS to do exactly as any company had advertised. Nothing more or less.
When I had my Evo LTE threads were full of support for it. Ubuntu alone has definitely taken off, have it as a dual boot and primary on another.. So personally I believe as long as it stays on the path and future they are creating we can expect something pretty awesome. There was some mention that people felt it was just a launcher in a sense. Idk I felt it was entirely new experience.
Had a chance to test the Infobar as well. Which the two operated very similar. So it gave a full preview.
Being in love with Paranoid and having a gesture based phone I'm still looking forward to it. Worse comes to worse I think it will bring alot to future android development. But all in all I would love to see it succeed and become a major player.
I tried it out today...because i just got my N4 and haven't activated it yet...and well...the keyboard wasn't working...it was pretty as all hell, but i can see how it's a beta...painfully so...

It's not even in beta. It's a developer preview right now. They don't even expect testers to use it just yet. The wider testing phase should be the end of May or early June. That's when 3g and auto bug reporting will be enabled.

It is in "dogfood" stage, meaning that their in-house developers use it on a daily basis. It runs fine, there's just not much in the way of apps (even built-in) for it yet. It can be laggy at times because it is not optimised, but a person could use it daily if you don't need a lot of apps on your phone.

They knew about this beforehand, they had issues getting the proprietary junk from Qualcomm for the N4. The sad part is there isn't really a viable competitor to the Snapdragon series that doesn't have the same problems.

So what's probably behind this thing? that Qualcomm is unable to provide working software to their hardware?
Basically Qualcomm not providing the GPU drivers.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The Adreno is a Qualcomm brand, though. I wouldn't expect ATI-AMD to release a new driver for my GTX 660.
It looks like JBQ implied that the reason is similar to whatever caused Google to remove the Nexus 4 images back in December. Back then, it was rumored to be due to Nexus 4 having the LTE option before it was removed. We know an LTE-enabled Nexus 7 is coming, so it could be related to that as well.

He's probably referring to JWR build instead of JSS.
It is pretty sad when the lead of AOSP feels forced to go because of all the BS legal wrangling.
And frankly, shame on Google for not getting this worked out YET AGAIN before launching a device. The whole point of the nexus line is a showcase for developers, and if the developers can't get the access to the files to restore their devices, then that point becomes moot.
Bummer for all...
