Same issue here, with AT&T.
Anyone got any news? Or are we just doing something wrong..
With KK on my VZW Moto X Dev Edition, I have to manually enter the APN settings while using my T-Mobile USA Sim. With 4.2.2 I didn't have to, the APN settings came down automatically.
This seems to be a trend, as similar thing happened with my Verizon Galaxy S4. When I first got it, APN settings for T-Mobile came in automatically when I inserted the SIM, but with the recent 4.3 update, I have to manually enter the APN settings in my GS4.
As the title generally states, I've gotten my VZQ moto X set up with my MetroPCS SIM, and have encountered an issue.
If I don't use a manually entered APN, I get H+ signal, with voice and SMS, but no data.
If I use either the fast.metropcs.com or fast.t-mobile.com APNs, I get 4G LTE signal with data and voice, but no MMS.
Anyone know what the deal is?

Have you input the MMSC url in your APN? I believe it should be:
MMSC URL: http://metropcs.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
You HAVE to put in the http:// as well. Try this URL and advise if you can send MMS.

That is what I have. Looking deeper into the forums, it seems the MotoX has issues with voice/MMS over LTE outside of the carrier the phone shipped from. I've now got my phone configured to stay on 3G/HSPA+ and everything seems to be working as it should. Still, it saddens me to not have LTE without sacrificing voice and MMS features. Hopefully a fix arises in the future.
I know this is an old thread but it seems to be strongly connected to my issue.
I have inputted the APN settings above and 4GLTE seems to be working fine on my VZW Moto X on MetroPCS. However, it seems like I need to keep switching between "Global" and "LTE / GSM / UMTS" in certain areas to get a signal. In these areas I usually have trouble getting MMS, even if I am connected.
Does the Moto X have trouble switching between certain cell towers? I am thinking this is why OP had the issue with MMS as well. (Note, if I have a signal I have no trouble receiving SMS)
Hi there,
I've got an AT&T M8 on Rogers network. I've got the bootloader unlocked, rooted, S-OFF and SIM unlock. Stock AT&T ROM. The phone works fine except I cannot send MMS messages. I've tried the APN settings listed in the below thread as well as creating a separate APN just for MMS. No luck. LTE works fine (96 Mbps, wow!).
Any ideas?

you are in the wrong forum, this is the htc one M7 forum. Im on rogers too and the apn that work for me is ltemobile.apn and leave all other field blank/default. Also make sure you don't have ads blocking software installed like Adblock plus, this will also block mms (known issue of AdBlock plus)

I'd suggest you try adding MMS to the APN type. To avoid any other issues I'd make it so it reads "APN Type: default, supl, admin, hipri, mms" instead of leaving it blank.
Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately neither of them worked. Could the AT&T ROM be interfering with MMS?
I have a Verizon branded M7 that I am using on simple mobile.
I recently rooted it and managed to get s-off. I am running the Viper rom, I thought by installing a Rom my mms would work. I am able to manage my apn files and applied the settings according the simple mobile website. Everything else works but mms, is there a possible fix for this?
Anyone able to help?

Don't know much about your combination of Verizon and TMO, but have you tried one of the messaging apps in the play store to see if mms will work. If it doesn't it may be that the radios are different between the two variants to work.
Yes. I downloaded messenger plus. It was advertised to work with any carrier arround the world. I installed it and it did not work. I really want mms

Did you get LTE working? It seems that I can only get Edge network connection. If so, how did you get this working? I have the same setup but LTE AND MMS are not working...
Hello, I recently purchased a gpe nexus 6 for my cell carrier Thumb cellular. Small company that uses verizon towers in rural America (LRA) one of the bigger LRA carriers is bluegrass cellular if it would help any. Basically these LRA carriers partner with verizon to give coverage in rural areas otherwise skipped over. The phones themselves are almost exact clones over their verizon counterparts for what that may matter.
My issue is I have a bug where I can not send out sms messages on lte but when preferred network is set to CDMA only Prl it works. Set back to lte CDMA and they fail to send again. Everything else including receiving sms works. Any idea on what I can do because I don't want to send this device back. Seen its common on CDMA carriers but no real fix has been found besides to stay off lte. Any help would be great, Thank you
Sounds to me like it might be something with the APN's. Maybe you could look at another (android) phone that works properly, and see the apn's, and then manually enter them in the nexus?

I have a galaxy s5 on the same network and saved the apns and restored on the nexus using apn backup restore, I get lte and can send mms. The issue is sending regular sms while on lte. If I force 3g or even 1x I have no issues sending a text. Seen its common issue with this phone on a CDMA network but no idea what to do to fix, updated to stock 5.1 as soon as I received the phone, tried chroma as well as bliss pop and all have the same issues. Really don't want to return the phone but doesn't seem like there is a fix

Why did you do apn backup/restore rather than letting the n6 pull apn info from your sim? That may be why you're experiencing issues?
Although, standard sms doesn't have any specific apn settings afaik, and should just work as long as standard voice works...
Btw, what build are you running?

Did that before I restored apns actually. Had an issue so that's when I used my thumb cellular apns which are different then the verizon ones it gives me thinking it would help me for some odd reason even though apns have nothing to do with sms.
If I go to dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* I have LTE/GSM/CDMA AUTO (PRL) everything works except sending an sms. Only thing that won't work. If I change it to CDMA only I will get either 1x or 3g but my phone works how it should. Should have absolutely nothing to do with apn settings. Seen this issue is common on verizon but more so on sprint but not everyone is plagued with this problem, but exchanges and new sim cards don't fix the issue for those whom experience it.
I'll post a log cat, I don't know what to look for so if someone could it would be great. I'm testing with 8sms

I'm looking for answers too I have a similar carrier (another partnered with Verizon in the lra agreement) and interested in buying a n6 provided this issue can be resolved. Being a carrier that functions the same way I'm 99% sure I'd also have this same problem.
What doesn't make sense is that when network mode is set to LTE/CDMA AUTO prl, you cannot send sms but you can receive them, send/receive mms, make and receive phone calls etc. But if you do cdma only and limit it to 3g, it all works.
Does anyone have any suggestions in things to try?

Try this: go to *#*#4636#*#* and do turn on SMS over ims or if it's on turn it off and see if that changes anything...

I tried that before and had no luck. Going to try different modems tomorrow and a couple BP edits. Running out of ideas to try sadly. Only idea I have is how the phone is communicating with the network, same issue I saw on the nexus back in November with the sprint network. Seems like a radio update fixed the problem.
