[Q] MMS not working on HTC One M8 - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I've got an AT&T M8 on Rogers network. I've got the bootloader unlocked, rooted, S-OFF and SIM unlock. Stock AT&T ROM. The phone works fine except I cannot send MMS messages. I've tried the APN settings listed in the below thread as well as creating a separate APN just for MMS. No luck. LTE works fine (96 Mbps, wow!).
Any ideas?

you are in the wrong forum, this is the htc one M7 forum. Im on rogers too and the apn that work for me is ltemobile.apn and leave all other field blank/default. Also make sure you don't have ads blocking software installed like Adblock plus, this will also block mms (known issue of AdBlock plus)

I'd suggest you try adding MMS to the APN type. To avoid any other issues I'd make it so it reads "APN Type: default, supl, admin, hipri, mms" instead of leaving it blank.

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately neither of them worked. Could the AT&T ROM be interfering with MMS?

MMS apn settings

Ok so I had to do a factory reset on my nexus for an unrelated reason. I am on the web2go data plan and I had my apn settings for data and another for mms. Everything was working fine until I did the reset. I entered the same settings and now I cant send or receive any mms's. Here are my settings for my mms:
Name: T-Mobile US-MMS
APN: epc.tmobile.com
APN type: mms
Everything else is set to default. This kinda sucks because some long text messages that I send or receive are converted to mms. So any help on how to get my mms back. I would feel cheated having a superphone with no mms *cough iphone <3.0 cough*
I had a stock Nexus One ROM and then flashed the Desire one... since I've flashed my MMS has not been working either... and I definitely have the correct APN settings, I've tripple checked it!
Problem solved. I forgot to put default as apn type for data access.
Above do you have the same settings above as mine? Also did you try reboot? Was mms fine before you flashed rom?
My settings are different as I'm using Vodafone NZ but I've looked up the information and I'm 100% sure I've got it correct... Are you saying your MMS didn't work until you changed the APN type for your data APN to default??
And yeah I was able to PXT and 3G when I first got my Nexus One, after I flashed the Desire ROM I lost 3G and PXT... When I set the correct APN I managed to get 3G working but still no MMS
I am having the same issues on tmobile us. I can not get the pictures to download. Before I had some settings wrong, after fixing them I do not get the error anymore, but I do not get to download the message. Anyone have any ideas or solutions yet??? I am using Modaco Aplha 19

What about sending MMS? If I try to send an MMS it just sits there loading forever and never sends (This is using handcent) and when I try to download an image it just says downloading forever... :/
I'm relieved to hear someone else has a similar issue on Alpha 19.. Means its more likely to be a software issue and not something to do with my provider !
guys - you'll probably get more help if you search/post your issue in the MoDaCo Alpha 19 thread vs. starting a new one. this - unfortunately - is a common issue with this version of the ROM. it seems to be an inconsistent issue as well; sometimes i can send/receive without a problem other times i can't.

[Q] AT&T Data not working after Gingerbread via Overcome_v2.0.0_RC1_Full

Well I followed the instructions here:
overcome.mimzo.com/?page_id=66
with no issues. However now my 3G data via AT&T doesn't seem to connect. I can send and receive text messages with no issue. Also I swapped the SIM from my AT&T Blackberry and data services work fine so I don't think it has anything to do with the flash of Overcome. I did have to go in and turn the Access point back on for wap.cingular and reset the password to CINGULAR1 but still nothing but text messages. Any ideas?
Did you try changing the APN to "Broadband"?
I had the same issue last week but after changing the APN to Broadband as posted earlier, everything works great!

[Q] Atrix HD on Straight Talk - No Internet - PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi,
Can someone please shed some light on my problem.
I ordered an Atrix HD from eBay, thinking it was unlocked but later found out from the buyer it was locked. No big deal I thought since I was going to use it on Straight Talk's AT&T compatible sim and ST said phone DOES NOT need to be unlocked for features/service to work.
Well, right out of the box with an activated ST sim I started up the phone, never got to the "sim card unlock" screen as I thought I was going to get though I inserted a "foreign carrier" sim, but rather went straight to Home Screen. I made a call, sent a text . . . all good. However, internet and mms not working. I cannot connect to the internet at all. Phone doesn't even make an attempt, no error messages, just a plain "no internet connection" message the second I press anything that needs an internet connection.
Spoke to ST for hours trying different APN settings, nothing works! Used wi-fi to download app "tweakker", tried those APN settings as well, still no internet. ST has no other solutions for me. They are clueless. I once again asked, could it be because the phone is LOCKED? And once again they assured me it should not make a difference since they use AT&T towers. I tried using an app called APN Backup and restore, but I cannot use it on my phone though it is running ICS 4.0.4 and no "3rd party changes allowed" popps up.
My phone has the AT&T APN settings as default and are locked I can't delete or edit them. I CAN however create new APN's which I have multiple times, saved them, booted up and selected them. They are still there after a reboot but still the phone seems not to even recognize them being there.
I even tried a factory reset, thinking it may solve the problem but to no avail. :crying:
Today I contacted Motorola. After 2 hrs on the phone with them, still back to squar one. They had "NO IDEA" as to why I couldn't connect and why my phone couldn't accept the new APN's. So Straight Talk couldn't help me, Motorla said, "send us the phone and we can see if there is something wrong with it and you can have it back within 3-4 weeks(!!) or "learn to live" with the phone as is!"
So, after a lot of reading through online forums, searching for answers, I am left to wonder if my phone is acting the way it is because it is not an UNLOCKED PHONE. (Could the solution really be that simple???)
The people I have read who have an Atrix HD with other carriers besides AT&T seems to have no problem with their phones. However, it doesn't say if they bought unlocked versions or not.
I am now turning to this forum as my last cry for help. Can someone PLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS FOR ME???
** Do I need to unlock this phone (I have no issues ordering an unlock code and getting a T-mobile sim to do this) in order for the internet to work?
** Is the phone not recognizing the APN's because the phone is technically locked? (Even though Straight Talk says their service should work on a locked phone).
** If I do get a T-mobile sim and try to unlock the phone, will I get the "sim unlock code" screen, because it sure isn't popping up when I insert my ST sim.
(What good is an unlock code if I can't get to the "unlock code" window?)
Any answers are appreciated.
Thanks!

** Do I need to unlock this phone (I have no issues ordering an unlock code and getting a T-mobile sim to do this) in order for the internet to work? Not sure on that one, but unlocking your phone certainly won't hurt it.
** Is the phone not recognizing the APN's because the phone is technically locked? (Even though Straight Talk says their service should work on a locked phone). Unless the SIM is unlocked is may be stuck on the AT&T APNs. Might as well try unlocking it with a service.
** If I do get a T-mobile sim and try to unlock the phone, will I get the "sim unlock code" screen, because it sure isn't popping up when I insert my ST sim. That's how mine is. I SIM unlocked the AT&T model for T-Mobile US in this way. I didn't have to change any APNs, everything worked off the bat.
(What good is an unlock code if I can't get to the "unlock code" window?)

I answered a few for you. I don't have Straight Talk anymore after finding out about their very limited data usage in my area. I dropped them for T-Mobile "Unlimited Nationwide 4G" plan and I am much happier.

Thanks for your reply . . .
I will try to unlock it as soon as my T-mobile micro sim arrived. I am surprised that you didn't have to enter any APN settings for T-mobile though. Why is that? I thought that you always have to adjust the settings for the specifc network you are using. Did your internet work right away? Did you get the "sim unlock code" screen when you first popped in the T-mobile sim? Just curious so that I know what to expect when I get my own T-mobile sim.
I have really bad reception where I live and unfortunatelly it is only At&t's towers I get any bars with , thus I am stuck with either full price AT&T or Straight Talk since they use AT&T towers.
Thanks again. I appreciate your reply.

Wow . . so you are saying you just popped in your ST sim and you were up an running just like that? Why isn't that working for me???
Can I ask when you purchased yours? Was it before they came out with the OS upgrade? You are the first person that I came accross that have a locked phone like myself with ST service. But yours is working! So what the heck is wrong with my phone? At first I thought it was not working because the phone being LOCKED but now that I see yours was working fine I am starting to wonder if it is MY phone that has a problem. Or could it be a corrupt sim that is not connecting with the towers? When I asked ST that question they said if the sim wasn't working correctly I wouldn't be able to make calls either, so they stand by their card. hmm.... If you have those settings I appreciate it:
This is what I have tried so far:
The standard APN settings that come with the sim card:
Name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: http:mmsc.cingular.com (with // after http
MMSProxy: 66.209.11.33 (also tried mms2.tracfone.com)
MMS Port: 80
I also searched the internet for a tons of other options, leaving proxy blank, inserting "default, etc" under APN type . . . I tried A LOT and still nothing..
Using the app "Tweakker" I got these settings which I also tried with no luck:
They require two APNs
Internet:
Name : Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MMC: 410
APN Type: default,*
For MMS:
Name: Straight Talk MMS
APN: att.mvno
MMSC: http:mmsc.cingular.com (with // after http
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MMC: 410
APN Type: mms
So . . .if you have anything different . . .please share so that I can try your version.
Thanks for your help!

Hi ,
I will actually be using Straight Talk on this phone but in order to unlock it I ordered a T-mobile sim so that I can get to the "sim unlock code" screen since just inserting my ST sim doesn't bring up that screen. You DO NOT need to unlock the phone if you're using the Straight Talk AT&T SIM.

troubles with new sim card on straightalk and MMS

I upgraded my sim card so that I could get LTE service, I have the new APN on and working although I am still only getting 6MBs like I did before but now I don't seem to be getting MMS messages either.
my settings that I found to use are this and I have this with 1 subtraction as I don't have the option.
FIELD SETTINGS
NAME st lte
APN tfdata
MMSC http://mms-tf.net
MMS PROXY mms3.tracfone.com
MMS PORT 80
MMS_APN tfdata -- don't have MMS_APN
My wife has the same phone and the sim card was purchased at the same time, she is getting 14MBs down and I believe her MMS is working.
We are both on the Viper rom, i have hboot 1.44 she has 1.55 that is about the only difference.

make sure your apn is correct, you might want to confirm with your carrier. I'm not sure about yours, but on mine, its not required to enter a mms apn when you already have a lte apn. mms works fine only using the lte apn. ALso make sure you are not using apps like AdBlock Plus, these apps block ads but they also block mms.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a feeling this version is setup to not use a MMS_APN as I don't even have an option to put one in.
Also, before sticking the new sim card in, everything worked fine on the same os, phone etc..... so it is all about the change to a new sim and ST resetting some things on my account to get it to work today.
I am guessing I need to call them.

Verizon htc m7 on simple mobile (t-mobile) mms

I have a Verizon branded M7 that I am using on simple mobile.
I recently rooted it and managed to get s-off. I am running the Viper rom, I thought by installing a Rom my mms would work. I am able to manage my apn files and applied the settings according the simple mobile website. Everything else works but mms, is there a possible fix for this?

Don't know much about your combination of Verizon and TMO, but have you tried one of the messaging apps in the play store to see if mms will work. If it doesn't it may be that the radios are different between the two variants to work.
Yes. I downloaded messenger plus. It was advertised to work with any carrier arround the world. I installed it and it did not work. I really want mms
