i'm selling my phone, but can't seem to delete some personal info off of it. my phone number and Sprint PCS email still show up under Settings > About > Phone Identity. this is what i've done:
1. removed SIM card
2. Settings > Backup & reset >Reset phone > Erase all data checked
3. used the 3.04.651.2 RUU found here to completely restore phone
my phone is now completely stock and wiped, but the info mentioned above still remains. any thoughts?
TIA

I believe that's tied to your Sprint account. When you deactivate the phone, it should disappear.

Phone will not recognize sim/ imei "Unknown"/ baseband "Unknown"? *Updated*
Updated title because problem has now changed.
current problem--
Phone is stock, randomly stopped getting signal factory reset phone using keypad, now phone will not recognize sim card, the imei is blank and the baseband is unknown. Tried reseating the sim, and powering on off.
initial problem--
After having a problem free note for some time now it randomly stopped working. I cannot make a call/ text or use data but the wifi works and the phone functions outside of those uses. When making a call I get various errors in the form of Mobile network not available/ Not registered on network and when i go into mobile networking settings> network operators it takes a while when searching and tells me to either try again later or gives me a message "error while searching for networks." When i take the sim out all together I get bars of service but when the sim is in it either gives me a circle with a line through it or a empty signal bar triangle.
I called straight talk customer support as i thought it was a problem with the service and they told me I had a bad sim card. I have since checked the sim in another phone and it works fine. I have tried multiple working sims in other phones and no luck in mine. The phone appears to be recognizing the sim as the apn settings are adjusting based on what sim i put in. I have tried to take out the battery, take out the sim, factory restore but nothing seems to work. I have also checked the imei number online to see if it was blocked or something and it said it was not. I took it to a local phone repair shop but after toying around with it for a hour they didn't know what was wrong, so here i am, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. thanks.
May be the phone is network locked. is it asking for some kind of key or pin anytime or when restarting the phone?
where did this begin to happen?

No, its not asking for anything. I was like 10 miles from my house when it began happening and has continued since I got home.

After doing a factory reset using the keypad, *2767*3855#, it now says it doesn't recognize my pin and when i type *#06# IMEI comes up with nothing after it. Also, my baseband is now unknown. Is my imei corrupted or something?
Are you on a custom ROM...do you have imei backup... did you try to reseat the sim card

everything is stock, I have tried taking the sim out and putting it back in. it was recognizing the imei, sim and baseband prior to the factory reset I just wasn't getting a signal. now it doesn't seem to recognize anything.
Possibly a bad sim.. you should try a friends att dim and see what happens

I know the sim isn't the problem as it works in another phone.
You may want to try flashing stock GB with PC Odin...then with stock GB recovery do a factory reset.
Don't do anymore factory resets if your on ICS and completely stock - you will kill your device...see the brick bug sticky

I'm assuming i have to root my phone in order to look at this folder? I'm looking into this now.
yes.
when restarting phone do you get the password prompt for the sim pincode, could be sim is not registered?
Anyways a stock phone should not do this. Its a case for customer service to fix efs. That appears to have instantaniously corrupted(!) first case I have ever seen of this.
Almost cannot believe it.
Without sim, is the imei there? I am suspecting your emei was gone before which you never noticed then. Is it even a new phone?
note rooting might void warrantee, so be careful

Does going to the UK Orange help pages for help & support / mobile / mobile services / internet, data and wi-fi
how do I setup my phone for Internet access which will on identifying our phone send you the relevant setting by text, assist? It did for me when I had to reflash and lost the Orange internet and SMS settings (but I could also enter them manually).

When I go into settings/about phone/status - the following items are unknown or blank (Network/mobile network type/service status/mobile phone number/IP address)??

It's really unusual, but solution is surely in the correct APN. I had the problem too, after update my SIM became unrecognizable until I performed factory reset. But this is the last option, after that you must retrieve everything from zero. I suggest you to try some less painful actions first:
I asume that you are really on Orange despite you present yourself with T Mobile logo? Then try to find out what changed regarding OTA update. Before you were on GB ICS and APN was set automatically? Or you had to insert data manually?
Ok Now try theese:
The first option is to enter only:
Name = Orange Internet
APN = orangeinternet
and leave everything else untouched.
The second option is to fill:
Name = Orange Internet
APN = orangeinternet
MCC:234
MNC:34
APN Type: default
Because Orange GB operates under 2 MNC: 33 and 34.
Hope it could help.
OK it seems I cannot do anything to sort out this issue with Orange-UK JB so I need to try install another version of the firmware.
Is there anyway to install another version of firmware (retail UK or even revert back to ICS)?
I am really clueless so would like step by step instructions if you have the time?
Thanks Guys

No calls or texts . As my the bootloader has been unlocked I have lost guarantee so I need to find a way to install new firmware. I dont think it has anything to do with the APN or SMS centre number as I cannot add or update them. I think it is a software issue.
Any ideas how to update or install new firmware?

Since ive installed Maximus 42.0.0 I get not internet on my phone, in the mobile data section it only shows as Disconnected bcause service is unavailable, Ive tried 2 different sim cards, It wont let me try to change to APN settings, Ive tried to reinstall maximus 42 and going back to a really old backup I had of a completely different rom and still nothing, and even after re installing maximus and using a old backup I can never change the APN settings, and it always shows up the top the sim card icon with a !, But it still alerts me on both roms when I eject the SIM card.
I cant find anything that helps, Ive also tried install a new radio and firmware.

Wow, something has messed with your phone. Assuming Maximus downloaded correctly and you checked it MD5 to verify, then maybe your recovery may be causing some issues. Some versions of TWRP are writing in the wrong partition and resulting in missing OS, etc. This version might help. If this doesn't help, then you might have to go back to the stock rom to check if the issue is there. If it is, then you might have to send in your phone for servicing.

I would give the different version of TWRP a try first, then if it failed, I'd go back to stock. It may save you some time and steps.
So, I changed my SIM from Verizon to T-Mobile--works fine. Then, I changed it back to my Verizon SIM--I get no signal.
After doing some reading around, it sounds like the only way to fix this is to perform a factory reset.
I intend on using the built in function in Android to do this (not use TWRP). Will I have to re-root/decrypt my N6 again if I factory reset? I know the SD card (emulated) partition won't be affected, so that's good. Just wanted to make sure, as I've never just performed a factory reset on a phone without wiping the /system as well, and flashing a new ROM.
try going into SETTINGS > MORE > CELLULAR NETWORKS > PREFERRED NETWORK TYPE
change according to network.
Same thing happened on my Nexus 5. Sprint service, popped in T-Mo SIM and back to Sprint.

Nope. Nothing like that works. Tried changing APNs, getting a new SIM card, etc. Probably just need to factory reset.

Hi there:
I had a rooted nexus 6 with Android 6.
I was playing with chmod and root and messed up some system permissions.
I have re-installed several Nexus 6 Google images 5.1 6.0 etc...
I have everything except cellular signal. It says no service and sometimes no sim card.
I have taken my sim and put it in another phone and it worked.
When I go to *#*#4636#*#*
It says GSM: emergency service only and GPRS service: disconnected.
I tried to change the network type to GSM only and others with no success.
Any help to further diagnose this would be appreciated..
Thanks

Very good point.
When I flashed 6.0.1
under cellular network settings , I only see Data raoming, Preferred network type and System select.
no APN settings
When I re-flashed 5.0.1 , I could see the apn settings, but when I go to it, it says something like that the user doesn't have permission to view the settings. I even tried to add a new settings and save it, but the message stayed there and I see no APN list at all..
I might have messed up the APN permissions with chmod, but I would think a system re-flash would have corrected it..
Thanks
