I think that we do not have that separated. If you want to change baseband, I think you need to downgrade and then install JB baseband that you want.

[Q] Best Kernel / Rom combination for the I9070

Hello,
So after getting some knowledge of the things (thanks Shut_Down :good, I was wondering which is the best combination for this phone?
Right now I am running the stock ROM and kernel.
Will the new official JB upgrade also change kernel or just ROM?
Since people here have already tried different combinations, which combinations have you found that give good, consistent and fast running?
Thanks!

Thanks for your replys!
Funny thing is that each of you have a different combination.
Any one actually did testing which combo is better? Or maybe i sould ask, why are you using he combinations you wrote?

Same here. Stock JB LQ4 + ThunderZap 3.5.
So I am guessing I will upgrade to the stock JB ROM (till there will be a JetMod version of JB).
1) Which would be a better kernel set CoCore or ThunderZap?
2) I am right now still running the stock GB ROM.
What would be the right upgrade process kernel update then rom, or rom and then kernel?
The reason I am thinking kernel first is because I still don't have a custom recovery (using the stock brand) so i can't backup or load new roms.
What do you think?
Thanks!

Try both and see what firs you better. And about order, you can install ROM with temp. CWM, but I suggest you use permanent, with custom kernel. So first kernel, than ROM.

Thanks mate! Again you helped.
If I install the stock ROM will I be able to get it in my local language (Hebrew), or do I need to download a specific ROM that is already in my language?

Hm, on this Russian JB there is no Hebrew as I see. So if you want it you should wait for release for your country or any with your language.

OK, Thanks.
Last question, when just changing kernel, do I need to do any wipes / resets (I have read about dalvik cache, factory wipes etc.) ? Or is that just for when installing new ROM's?

1. That require JB.
2. You can root with Shaaan's JB root method.
There is just Russian version of JB, so if you want KIES or OTA update to JB, you have to wait for JB to be released in your country.

Download kernel, put it in your phones memory and use this app to install it. It is most safe and easy way.

GB Performance problem

Good day friends, I used my phone for about 2 months last day ı downgrade my phone to gb it was stable then ı install some games for example frontline commando temple run2 and launch games games are too slow and laggy ı was nervous and back to XXLQG how I do to get performance GB ? If I use GB few days and test it or continue to use Jelly Bean. Please stop calling me ''flash kernel'', custom roms How I do?
SORRY FOR MY AMATOUR ENGLİSH BECAUSE I AM TURK
In my opinion, Jellybean is much better in Gaming, Memory management and app processing than Gingerbread... So you better use JB with CoCore E 6.2 or 6.8 kernel - this is what I have done and I don't see much lags, etc... If you are more into gaming then try a good Custom ROM or Performance scripts then...

Oh but that will be hard because the phone can't give its "best" performance if you are using stock kernel.. the only way would be to root it and install custom kernel and scripts...
One more thing, if you wish to reclaim your warranty, you can always flash your country's firmware with Odin or just Factory Reset (using your country's firmware) and since that will reset everything to factory default - the root access will be gone and so the sales person can't tell whether you were rooted or not..

Which one are you using now? I am using DULP8 and so far this was the best one for me - so you can give that a try
Just use JB instead of GB. Go with custom ROM such as JB light. Dont forget to use scripts too. As Sami said. You can super charge your stock rom too.
I want to downgrade my phone to GB but İts laggy and slow on games damn it what should I ? I'm going crazy! I do not want to go under the warranty
Why wont you try some custom rom and kernal instead as i said before?

Are you using Jellybean or Gingerbread? If Gingerbread then first upgrade to Jellybean and install CoCore E 6.x or 7.0 then flash whatever ROM you like... Just be sure to BACKUP all your apps and data first...
HarshJelly ROM or Pure Vanilla.... These two are great in my opinion but they are both based on Samsung's Jellybean firmware... If you want Pure Android experience then try CyanogenMod 10 or 10.1 but they are still in beta stage so there are some bugs...

CoCore E is a custom kernel for our Galaxy S Advance... 6.x and 7.0 are recent versions of CoCore E kernel... You need to install this first before installing a custom ROM.. Just download and install it and then reboot to Recovery and install the ROM you want to use....
One more thing: Choose any CoCore E kernel that has TWRP recovery (not CWM recovery) since its much easier to use :good:

And if you have problems of lagging and battery drainage with cocore (my case, but not everyone is the same) you can go to harsh jelly with stock kernel (which is good too)

With 3g on? I get massive drainage on 3g with harshjelly and cocore 7.0. Tried with other cocore still the same massive drainage with 3g. I've greenified apps too but still.. That massive drainage is 50% in 2 hours with 3g on and little usage.
Too bad..but I really do like HarshJelly.

No, you can't do it from stock recovery. Install UKF, then ES explorer (or any other). Download CoCore zip, unpack it. Use kernel.bin.md5 with UKF.
More explanation on UKF here.

Hello. I am from Serbia too, and there is another user with same name as you. I will send you on private message what to do. Tomorow evening. Just remind me. And you can ask me whatever you want. We have official JB firmware. With CoCore kernel it is good. And i will suggest you to use CM10.1 or Omni ROM.
