HTC ONE rooted NO WARRANTY - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had send my One to a repair for blown speaker and they call me that warranty is not valid because phone is UNLOCKED and ROOTED. The guy said that HTC have tool for checking that. On test he get some kind of error and that is reason for warranty void. Country Slovenia.
Any suggestions how to solve that?
Thanx,
Andrej

I do know how to solve something: Don't post in the wrong section. People will be annoyed and wont answer u.

False section, but anyways
Unlocking the phone doesn't lthe warranty on the hard ware except hardware like Cpu that could get damaged by over clocking etc.
So tell that to the guy and search up the terms of using HTC dev unlock and find a good quote of it.
Renovated.

Well i had to sent mine in too, with a bricked Mainboard. They changed it without complains.
And i was also at S-Off and Custom ROM.
Well i got a new phone in exchange, but as long as rooting doesn't affect your hardware your warranty should still be valid.

i have sent my HTC One to India Bangalore service center coz of touch screen problem..they have replaced with new HTC One device..mine also unlocked and rooted with custom ROM..they didn't asked about that..

I think unless your country has strong consumer protection laws, you may need to try again. Ask to talk to the guy's manager. Explain that rooting can't cause this type of hardware problem (can only possibly cause overheating, not speaker problems). Ask to talk to the technician's boss.

I had send a complain about my warranty to them and now I'm waiting for replay. I think that my phone was first that was rooted and they do not know what to do and the simplest solution is no warranty .
I'm going to let you know what will be the solution.

Hello, all.
To my complain they said that phone is going to be send to another EU service that is not in Slovenia. So after 14 day I got a brand new HTC One, HBOOT 1.55 S-Off. On the same day I all so become FATHER i got a baby girl :victory::victory::victory::victory::angel::angel:
So thank you HTC, and F-U-C-K OFF Emonogram ( Slovenian warranty company).
What pisses me off is that in minutes that they said i'm warranty void I got quote for 480€ for new phone. grrrrrrrrr
Bye,
Andrej

HTC Touch diamond - dead .. not starting up

Hey I tried to unlock my HTC touch diamond with an unlocking software. In the process the cell phone suddenly turned off and now it is not working at all. Not turning on .. even not charging up the battery. In short look like no sign of life in the mobile phone. I tried every thing nothing work. I do have the warranty but dont have the reciept.
What can i do with this situation . any ideas how can i atleast make the phone start??? you exeriences and ideas??
thanls
sooo, you used the unlocker from ppcgeeks, which is fr cdma phones (and I'm not sure it its unlocking anything at all). Anyway - the only way to fix it is to send it to the service centre. If the phone is still on guarantee, there's big chance, that they will not be able to boot it, and replace the mainboard.
Good luck!
what if i dont have the recipt? no proof of purchase... i bought it from a friend and he lost the recipt for it . I know the fone has atleast 4 months warranty left .. but what else i should do.. again thanks for the reply ..
You're SOL buddy.
Exact same thing happened to me about 6 weeks after I bought my Diamond. Cost me $130 on the insurance claim to get a new one.
Obviously I haven't tried it a second time....
why u paid 130$ if you had insurance???
It was an insurance claim, not a warranty claim, and therefore I'm responsible for part of the replacement cost....sort of like the deductible for your medical or car insurance.

Does all repairman knows how to JTAG?

hi all , i bricked my w8 and i send it to service the other day ...my phone got hardbricked and i cant find a solution ..so i asked my dad to send to to a repairman, at 1st the man said its a simple problem and can be fix in a day or two , so 2 days has passed and i asked my dad is my w8 fixed? my dad said the foreman has overlook and the problem is more severe ...so i got a little scare and i heard of this method called JTAG ..and i am just wondering does all repairman knows JTAG? i saw a vid and it looks dam hard. ..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujH_IpsskLg
so heres the details
model:w8
reason for brick:unlocking bootloader
phone age : 3weeks
As you can see in the video you linked in your post, or in the link I posted in the "bootloader unlock warning" thread, it requires ...
a) ... specialized hardware (RIFF Box + JTAG Interface or Qualcomm Resurrection Cable)
b) ... a solid knowledge about getting the hardware and related software to good use
In theory any trained service monkey should be able to do the trick, given the repair shop has the hardware to accomplish the job. A authorized SE service center has the required hardware, and trained technicians, for sure.
Anyhow ... to point the finger at the "unlock warning" thread ... now, once you get your phone back READ THE MANUFACTURING CODE of your phone CLOSELY and do NOT attempt to unlock the bootloader again if the phone is within the critical range.
oh..so most repairman knows how to repair a bricked phone yes ? =) ..but still if i am right it will not be covered by my warranty? and how much will it cost?

is this a repairman or se center?
Why would you trick the repair man since it will not reduce the cost (i think)
erm..it's a retailer at a mall my dad bought the phone from...and if the retailer knows my phone is still under warranty wont the repair be free?

[Q] Returning phone for repair

Considering i bought the htc one from ebay with the tester bootload and changed IMEI, would they repair my phone camera if i send it to HTC? Would they keep the phone or would they send it back?

I would imagine since that's a hardware problem they wouldn't do much digging around. As long as you are on stock rom and don't have any obvious changes or root files.

The IMEI was changed probably ba ESN, wont they use the IMEI to check warranty? Either way i dont believe they would keep the phone as its not illegal to change anything on the device (I think).

I highly doubt they would keep it. They may check against serial number as far as warranty but I've never dealt with HTC directly. I want to say HTC's warranty is a year and no HTC one has been out a year so every HTC One is still covered by warranty. If anything comes of it just play dumb and say you bought it on Ebay.
When I had to send my One back to get its screen repaired, I asked the rep I was on the phone with about the bootloader. He told me that the bootloader/ROM only becomes a problem when they can't flash it to stock for whatever reason, in which case the repair center will charge extra for the hassle of reflashing your phone. I was also told that flashing my phone to as close to stock as possible should be fine. I doubt they check your software any more than this. As with the "keeping the phone" deal, they probably wouldn't do such a thing unless it was listed as a stolen phone and some agency forced them to keep it.
My broken (shattered glass) screen wasn't covered by the warranty so they probably didn't check my warranty status. It may be different in your situation, but I hope that this helps.
Its to repair the known issue of the red/blue/green tint on the camera, i just want to play safe and get a new camera or a new phone.
Edit: Funny thing happened today, i somehow fixed my camera.
Anyway i was contacted by HTC in Portugal telling me, that because my phone was modified by Sprint the warranty is not valid in europe....

Bought second hand. Can I send for repairs?

I bought an HTC One used. Everything seemed fine with it until I tested it against my friend's HTC one. I noticed the bottom speaker on mine distorts/buzzes above a certain volume and during certain frequencies (usually bass). I'm not sure if it is blown it or somehow loose in the casings. I would like to send it in to HTC if I can but I don't know if they will even work with me since I am the second owner. Anyone else been in this situation?

hi,
since your device should still have warranty on it of course they will work with you. warranty is based on the device and not on the customer who bought it. hope i could help.
Robert
I would say no since you bought it 2nd hand
From my One while peeking in your window
HTC warranty repair don't ask questions about whether it was you who bought it or not. They only care about what's wrong and how to fix it.
I sent my ONE for repair with S-off and an unlocked BL as a converted GPE. They gave a quote since it had physical damage and sent me a new one.

@CheesyNutz
hi, i wonder why you believe that second hand buyers have no warranty on their devices, can you please explain that to me (us)? For example, you buy a brandnew car, with 5 years of warranty, sell it after two months....now the one, who bought your car, has no more warranty?
As i said before, warranty is based on the device, not on the customer who first bought it. Ok, i am in Germany, but warranty is handled the same way around the world, just not the same warranty time, but should at least be six months, also in US.

Call their customer service. Get the number from their website.
Most polite , educated and fast pickup I've ever had the pleasure to deal with.
Compared to other companies where I've stayed waiting for an hour before either the call dropped got transferred or I just got pissed and hung up.

HTC warranty will have some limitations. As long as it is still in warranty (not a single ONE should be out of warranty yet) they will not worry about it just don't tell them you bought it second hand. Now if the phone was out of warranty by date, then they would ask for a proof of purchase and that is where you will would run into no warranty

I just wanted to give and update on this. I followed your advice Tachi91 and rolled the dice on sending it in, S-OFF, second owner, custom ROM on the phone.
When I called them (number from the website) they didn't ask if I was the second owner but they did ask for the serial number which must have told them that the name did not match up. They didn't seem to care.
Sent it in. They decided it could not be fixed, I paid repair fee and received back a brand new phone.
Between the repair fee and the cost I spent on the actual phone, I got a brand new-from-the-factory HTC One for $130 less than full retail from t-mobile.
Good deal and very satisfied with how HTC handled it all.
Thanks Tachi91.

[Q] Pinkish/Purplish Camera Defect! Please Help!

Hi everyone.
I got my brand new HTC One yesterday and this phone rocks! Only problem is the camera getting the what you guys already know as the red/purple tint due to camera defect.
Now i live in guyana and sadly there are to htc repair centers. I bought this phone from the US.
I have the sd vd6869(1.0) cinesensor 2013-05-10 camera sensor in my phone.
I read somewhere on this forum that persons with this problem send their phone to a repair center and the replace the sensor with ov4688 sensor module.
Is there a way for me to buy this module online or something?
There are guys over here who can replace it easily.
Please help. I really love taking images.
Thanks very much.

Your phone is brand new, you should consider contacting htc usa and sending your phone for repair so your warranty will not be void. Im pretty sure repairing an htc phone from an unauthorized shop void your warranty.

Yeah but how will i send it i'm in guyana. Oh and i email HTC USA this morning , lets hear what they say.
Does it have a US warranty? Then your best bet may be to do what I did - find someone you trust who's traveling to the US and ask them to deal with it for you. The only thing you'll pay for is shipping to HTC.
Give it plenty of time just in case - they do the repair itself very quickly but the shipping back and forth will take a few days, and there may be a holdup if they see something else that needs to be repaired and they have to contact you about it.
