I installed CWM recovery from within ROM Manager, rebooted into recovery, made a backup of my stock rooted ROM, then tried to install Promethius Thrill Edition from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960787
It failed, giving me an error status (0), i tried to reboot the device, and it sits at the LG logo and does not move... I tried to restore my stock rom, and when it reboots, it does the same thing....
Someone PLEASE help me asap... I run my own business and without my phone I cannot make money....

I have also tried to do a data/factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik cache, etc. Still no luck...
Ok so here is what i did step by step... I rooted the phone using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412490
After I rooted it, I tried installing CWR using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365876
This did not work for some reason, so i installed ROM Manager from the play store and let it install CWR
I downloaded this to my external SD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960787
I rebooted into CWR and chose to install zip from SD, chose my external SD, and chose Promethius Rom.. It went throught it's thing, then told me it failed, probably a bad download on my part due to crappy network at the time...
I then said screw it and rebooted the system and was going to just stay with stock, but now it's stuck at the LG screen. I've tried factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik cache, etc. and so far nothings working. I am now going to attempt to re-download Promethius Rom and put it on my SD card and try to install it with a better/new download. I will report back if no one has any other ideas for me to try.....
Just tried a new download of Promethius Rom and it did not work. Going to download a different Rom to try i guess... I have no other ideas and so far no help..
Ok I have tried NUMEROUS things now. I know I am going to need to use this LG Flash Tool some how, but it's been a huge fight trying to get it to work... I hold volume up, plug in the usb, and in device manager it keeps just coming up with "Unknown device" So I unplug it and try again while holding volume up... Same thing.. Every once in a blue moon it'll pop up with something else, but almost never lasts more than a split second. IDK wtf to do, and I desperately need my phone.....

I got to the point where it goes through the flasher but it goes through alot of stuff but then fails. I'll give you my exact process...
Installed the OMAP Flash Installer
Installed LG Mobile United Drivers
Installed and setup the Flash Installer v1.1
Opened device manager, held the volume up button on phone (with battery, SIM, and SD removed) and inserted SYNC cable into phone
Caught the OMAP device in device manager, and installed omap_winusb.inf
Changed com port to port 41 on the LGE Mobile USB Serial Port
Setup FlashTool with the LGP920_110622.dll and 28bRTbig_AP.bin
Hit start on the flash tool. Plugged in the SYNC cable, and inserted the battery in the phone, waited for flash tool to start.
Here is what flash tool shows...
NO READ PID

PSI RAM writing start
Trying to communicate with IFX modem
Confirm IFX communication
PSI RAM writing end
Start PSI RAM

At this point, i have no clue what else to do....

Is there a way to flash one of the Cynaogen or other mods without installing the android SDK? I am not extremely technically inclined when it comes to this stuff and I am not sure I understand how to do it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
yes, most people install cyanogen rom on their phone without even touching a computer
So informative ...really
Well I attempted the SDK install and when I run ADB I dont get a list of devices. When I plug in the phone windows automatically installs drivers.
So I downloaded USBDeview uninstalled and plugged the phone back in, same drivers installed.
So where to from here?
Ok so followed all the instructions on Cyanogens page and ADB will not see my device, when I go to Start > Devices the Nexus One shows up and says Driver not installed.
I downloaded the drivers from the SDK and no luck, I added the path to environamental variables, tried again, no luck
Tried to force the driver install and manually install through windows and states the driver I am trying to install doesnt contain info about my device. Check to make sure its an x64 driver.
Running windows 7 ultimate. any ideas what could fix this?
Ok so added and renamed the proper files to recovery.img and added cynaogens mod and renamed to update.zip
Rebooted phone
Recovery Mode
Wiped
Install from SDcard update.zip
Installation failed
Where am I going wrong?
Download ROM Manager from the market and you can do it from there. I think you need the pay version too do nightlies, but the stable CM releases are available in the free version.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
1) Can I assume you are rooted?
2) Can I assume you downloaded the adb drivers from Google?
If so I don't know how to help you without telling you to download clockwork mod sorry.
This is what I did.
Downloaded and installed 1 click root from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598
Downloaded Cyanogen Rom and gapps from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722798 and saved them to my SD card.
Downloaded Rom Manger from the Market.
Ran 1 click root
Ran Rom manager, installed the clockwork recovery from rom manager.
selected install zip from sd, found zip of cyanogen and selected it.
Pressed perform back and perform wipe then press OK.
Rom Manager did its magic and installed cyanogen for me.
The phone rebooted, I opened up rom manger again and pressed install from sd card again
Found and clicked on gapps zip file. This time I didn't perform a backup or wipe(not sure if I was supposed to or not), Hit ok, then ok to reboot.
Rom Manager worked its magic again and voila I had/have Cyanongen rom with my Google apps.
I did this all last night and from memory, but I'm fairly sure those are steps I took. However if it breaks your phone its your own fault

Ok so I attempted this as mentioned,
Now my phone is stuck at a looping "Cynaogen Mod" screen after doing the backup from Rom Manager.
Steps Taken to This Point:
D/L One Click Root - Unrooted Phone
Ran One Click Root Again - Rooted Phone
Downloaded Clockwork Rom Manager
Set Permissions For Super User
Downloaded Cyanogen 6 RC3 + GApps
Ran backup - phone rebooted
Phone rebooted and ran a bunch of stuff got to Cyanogen (mod) loading screen (looks like a boot animation) and this is where its stuck looping.
Any Ideas?
The animation is an android on a skateboard with a blue arrow circling it and has what I will call "lightning" circling around the outside. The lightning gets about 3/4 of the way around the circle then the screen goes black and starts over.... just wanted to give a bit more information.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
OK booted into recovery, got a green screen instead of the typical blue which I am assuming is a good sign
Ran "install from sd card"
Navigated for a few minutes till i found the Cyanogen zip file (update-cm-6.0.0-N1-RC3-signed.zip)
Installed
Phone rebooted
Got to Cyanogen Mod loading screen phone rebooted again and its stuck in the loop again......
Any ideas?
Ok attempted to flash back to stock FroYo 2.2 and getting:
asster failed: file_getprop("/system/build.prop. "ro.build.fingerprint") == google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.1-update1/ERE27/24187:user/release-keys" ||
file_getprop("/system/build.prop. "ro.build.fingerprint") == google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.2-update1/FRF50/38042:user/release-keys" || file
E:error in sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I am assuming I am getting this cause the update is for FR50 and not FR91?
Ok so another update
Attempted to flash 2.1.1_Downgrade and still getting same error as above just with a different file name version.
At this point I will just wait for one of you to get back to me hopefully
Ok so .. trial and error is a great way to learn
If I would have opened my eyes the first time I would have seen the "nandroid" option and just restored my backup
So after a minor freak out, and a cigarette I have regained my composure and I am in the process of a restore. Lets see what happens
Ok so phone is back to where it was when I did the backup.....
Going to attempt this again and try it with what I think was the missed step THE WIPE!
Uh oh..... got the blue screen instead of the green screen before phone wiped .... hmm guessing that when i did the restore it re-flashed the original recovery mode. So looks like I am starting over with a fresh phone ....lol
(hope this commentary isnt too annoying, but they way I see it is one day it may help another noob like myself do this on his phone )
WOOT WOOT!
So there it is! CM 6 RC3
I want to thank everyone who offered advice in this thread and to that crazy Canadian who offered a great option to get this done!
Hi
I have been using Clockwork recovery for months and tonight was flashing ROM/zips as usual, and all of a sudden when I try to get into recovery my Nexus just sits on the colored X. When I pull the battery it reboots fine with the ROM I currently have installed. Then I go back into ROM manager, re-flash clockwork recovery: it says flash was successful, so then I choose to boot into recovery, and again it just sits at the blue, red, green and yellow X.
So then I tried a round-about way by going into ROM manager and choosing to restore a backup. Again, when I choose to restore backup it just boots to the colored X again and freezes there.
I've also tried the regular method of holding power button and trackball and get the same results.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? Right now I'm stuck with a ROM I was just playing with and didn't necessarily want to use permanently....I'm afraid I might be stuck with it forever now
Thanks for any help!!!
I've been searching and I should add that my bootloader is not unlocked
Try to flash your recovery manually, using the guide from my signature. Try Amon_RA's.

Well I ended up wiping all user data in fastboot and now I get nothing but an X nomatter what I do, won't boot at all.
All I can do is hold down the power button and trackball and get the page that says
bootloader
reboot
reboot bootloader
power down
the only way I'm going to get this fixed is to use my computer and I've never done it that way...I've always used ROM manager
I'll read the links but I think I'm screwed because a lot of this is over my head
Thanks for the links !
1) Try to follow "Unroot/restore" guide first, see if you can restore functionality using PASSIMG method. Once you have functional FRG33 with recovery, you can root it, replace the recovery and install custom ROM of your choice / update to FRG83G.
2) If nothing helps - consider a) replacing your phone, b) unlocking the bootloader and flashing recovery through fastboot.
Getting in over your head is sometimes a good way to expand your horizons
Hi Jack
Thanks for the help
I'll do some reading and see what I can do....got two feet of snow here so I guess I have the time
worst comes to worst I'm still under warranty.
Well I tried the instructions but nothing happens..it just sits on the screen with the androids skateboarding. I renamed the zip and moved it to my SD card but it doesn't seem to even search for it, let alone find it. Really wish I had not deleted storage. At least I had a working ROM at that point.
Which instructions did you try? Did you download FRG33, rename it to PASSIMG.ZIP (and not PASSIMG.ZIP.ZIP !), put it on the root of SD card and reboot to bootloader?

Hey Jack...
Sorry for taking so long to respond...I finally had to crash for awhile, my brain was frying.
Yes I did what you describe: downloaded FRG33, renamed it PASSIMG.ZIP(not ZIP.ZIP) moved it to SD card just like any ROM and held down volume and power button and came to the screen with the three androids. Then it just stayed there, nothing happened.
The only thing is I had to use my backup Nexus One(EDGE only on ATT model) to move it to the SD card as I don't know how to access the SD card with the device acting like this. If I connect the device to my computer while the three androids are on the screen, I hear it connect to the computer, but nothing pops up allowing me to access the SD card....
Like I said I'm a noob at this I appreciate you trying to help me here
About 3 seconds after the 3 androids skating appears, you should see some text flash up?
It does say you're in HBOOT and not FASTBOOT right? If in fastboot, pick the bootloader option and then it should find the file.

Hi Rusty
Sorry I somehow missed your post here. Yes I see some text flash up...takes a little longer than 3 seconds...maybe 8 seconds...
At first it says I'm in Fastboot, but then I press the power button and then it says HBOOT at the top.....that's when the text flashes on the screen. It flashes too fast for me to read it though....but nothing happens after the text flashes on the screen.
I'll be damned guys....I got it working! After responding to Rusty's post above, I decided to give the whole thing another try. Well I went thru the whole process of putting the file on the SD card and realized I had in fact renamed it zip.zip....it LOOKED like it was only ZIP, but when I clicked on the file while it was still on my PC, it said it was zip.zip...that's when I knew what the problem was.
My problem now is getting it re-rooted. Originally I used the Universal Androot application..the true one-click method...I just tried it again and it didn't work.
Is there a way to downgrade to a version where this app will work again?
Thanks guys you really helped me out here!!
Please read the guide in Wiki, and follow one of the zillion SuperOneClick threads that are around. It's really as simple as it gets - and if you happen to have Windows 7, it's even more simple - you won't need to install the drivers.

Let's just say it's an app that the system needs Go to Market, download and install it, try again. If it doesn't work - you can try to install custom recovery manually, using another guide from Wiki. Look in "Installing Recovery" for "For locked bootloader - flash_image using Terminal" guide. If you don't know what Terminal is - download "Android Terminal" by Jack Palevich from the Market.
Use the fix problems button in Titanium Backup to install it, long story short is it lets you use a bunch of native Linux commands that as missing from Android.
Hello.
A couple of weeks ago I rooted my phone using SuperOneClick. Then I had to travel to the military and I've been here since then, and just a few days ago I downloaded Clockwork ROM Manager thing from Google Play and flashed CWM Recovery to my phone. Then I downloaded DjangoManouche Guestekernel 1.7, rebooted to recovery, wiped data and cache, proceeded to install zip from sdcard. I got to the aroma installer, chose all my settings, but the aroma installer stops and goes back to CWM Recovery after like 30 seconds. The Aroma installer is in the meantime stuck at 0%, but it does show a lot of files at the bottom it is going through. It stops at a different file everytime, stopping for 2 seconds before it goes back to CWM Recovery.
Now it refuses to reboot. It displays the LG logo shortly, screen goes black, comes light back on the screen, then goes black again, then displays LG logo for a while. Then it does that same process again. How do I fix this?
I am headed out of this camp on Monday, and I would really, really appreciate it if someone could help me get my phone working before then. I don't wanna travel completely isolated from the world in case something was to happen.
Thanks a lot if you bother to answer - and please, don't just skip this thread! This is really, really important I get working. Never had problems with this before so thought it would work, but unfortunately it didn't. Bad timing of me, I know.
Appreciate it!
Tried 2 different ROMs, one the DjangoManouche SpicaOC as it does not use Aroma installer, as well as temasek unofficial CM7 Kang.
Both get same message.
"Installing update...

I googled this error and found I have wrong update binary. How do I change this? I want to try install CWM again but I can't do that as far as I know without USB debugging or booting into Android. What program can I use to fix this? Please guys, I really need your help...
Tried following an NVFlash tutorial I found for the Optimus 2X but not sure whether it was successful or not. I followed this guide: (I was unable to link it cause I dont have 10 posts, it's called NVFlash Setup Instructions + Drivers on Modaco.com)
When I then proceed to run the nvflash.exe I get a cmd window pop up with some text for a 1/100th of a second, rendering me unable to read it. Tried print screening it but with no luck. How do I get this to stay for a little longer? Is there any other way to fix this? And what would I do after I NVflashed my phone?

with the nvflash method.....read it carefully....u just need to double click on flash.bat file and not nvflash.exe file
Hope it helps/....if you need more help let me know mate
EDIT: I would suggest that you use the same method but use this file with the same procedures of nvflash method...this ROM is pre-rooted with CWM clean stock R with the latest Baseband and good features....you can also use a custom ROM after that....dont forget to complete the initial setup if you want to use it
HOMERO'S ROM all credits to Homero2
Thanks a lot for replying! I read a lot about how I should use the .bat file, but there was no .bat file accompanying my download of NVFlash. Using CMD and cd command I got to do that sync command. Now downloading that Homero ROM of yours, but not entirely sure how I flash that file onto my phone? I have no .bat file in my NVflash so where can I find one if I need to to flash that ROM? Does it come with the ROM download maybe?
And currently quite happy as it appears I will get my phone working before I go travelling. Then I can fix it properly with DjangoManouche when I arrive.
EDIT: With the CWM recovery I get from this flash, can I use that to install DjangoManouche guestekernel with aroma installer? From what I understood the version of cwm recovery I had was what screwed it up, so it may work now?
With Homero ROM you will also get ripped and with CWM.you can then make a factory reset and then flash DM ROM by carburano.I have been using that for more than one year....best stock based ROM till ics arrived....
Still waiting for his magic in ics
Hope it helps you
O2X with Magical ROM and supersonic kernels from my buddies
Running a Captivate that I rooted and upgraded to 2.3 over a year ago. All was working well. This week it began freezing after it fully loaded after a reboot or power-on. It will go through the ATT, the Corn logo, and the S animation. It will scan the USB storage devides (internal and external) and then quietly freeze. It will sit there with the wallpaper moving around, but the first key stroke done after all has been loaded up will cause everything to freeze.
While it is starting up, I can enter my passcode, use all of the menu buttons and get to applications or settings. However, once the scanning is done, wherever I am will freeze. I can get all the way through the perform a factory reset procedure before the scanning is done, but it I will run out of time before the phone can start the reset.
Seems like something in 2.3 got corrupted and I need to reload the software without going through the boot-up (I went through Kies, but once the phone booted up, it disappeared from Kies and it told me the phone was disconnected).
Any step by step to either repair 2.3 or to install another droid system prior to the phone booting up? I'd appreciate the help.

You could grab Odin KK4 without bootloaders and flash it in download mode.
From there, use Odin 1.87 to flash Corn kernel if you wanna be rooted and have a custom recovery again.
Then it's your choice whether you wanna stay on 2.3 or look into 4.2 ROMs.

So, do you agree with me that it seems to be a software issue? Or is this something to try and see if all goes well with the new install? I have no problem if this is something to try since nothing else is working, but I am just curious if my diagnosis is correct.
Thanks for the quick respond.

My guess is that something got corrupted, so yes, software issue. Find the required Odin and 2.3 kernel for the I9000 and flash them in download mode. It should run fine after that.
Got things resolved
Thanks for the help. I tried to follow your steps, but I could never get the phone connected to the PC. It would charge, but not connect to let Odin in. (It will connect to another PC without issues. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, but no dice). However, in the process of putting the phone into download mode and rebooting it back somehow got me into the recovery screen. I did a factory reset through there and it worked.
Thanks for the help of all the contributers to the site.

Right, I was foolish enough to try rooting, and installing Cyanogen mod on my Optimus 4X HD, without any prior experience. I was quite nervous about it all, but after my phone started acting like a retard, I decided to go through with it. Found a guide online.
I rooted it, installed CWM (or atleast I thought I did), then I hit enter Recovery Mode, and got stuck in a bootloop where the LG logo was just flashing. Then I went into Android Recovery (which I thought was CWM at first) and wiped the cache, wiped data / factory reset, and tried to apply an update that was on my SD card (where I put the Cyanogen zip). It would not find my SD card, probably because its in NTFS format, and not FAT32. Still stuck in a bootloop.
I then decided to revert back and install a new FW.
Heres a list of what Ive tried, and what errors Ive got when Ive booted the phone into SW update mode. (Vol down and power)
LG Mobile Support (Error: Phone has newest version of software)
LG PC Suite (Error: Same as above)
Software Update through KDZ file (Error: Phone / device not found)
Software Update through .DZ & .DLL file (Error: No progress being made on LG FLASH TOOL, also tried different versions)
Ive tried countless versions of drivers, uninstalling and installing every single one of them. Also disabling / enabling USB MODEM DRIVER did not help. My last idea is to put an update on my SD card after Ive bought a mem card reader and made it into FAT32, could that work? If so, where can I get the update? Hope you can help a desperate man. Thank you.
Running Win8.1 64bit.
PS If you need any more info, please ask and I will fill you in as detailed as I can.

Software Update through KDZ file (Error: Phone / device not found)
Software Update through .DZ & .DLL file (Error: No progress being made on LG FLASH TOOL, also tried different versions)

since you haven't able to apply update, just wiped thing, I see no reason you cant' boot to stock LG
0) " made it into FAT32, could that work? If so, where can I get the update? " -> do more research
1) Did you unlock bootloader? if dont know then do more research
2) kdz update: windows enabler on? dont understand -> more research
3) driver: unplug, remove battery, hold volume down, insert batt back, plug in

0) Okay
1) No, bootloader is locked
2) I tried flashing with KDZ v20b, but phone was not found with the application. Tried several drivers and USB ports. Enabler was on yes.
3) Those instructions have been followed.
LS.xD told me it could be because of win 8.1, so I will try with win 8 and win 7 later today.
He also said Ive been stupid for trying to do this with android 4.0.3, and not updating to 4.1.2 first. I guess this is what happens when a noob tries new stuff, although the guide I followed did not bother mention that.
Issue has been solved. Thank you for everyone that helped, especially LS.xD.
My problem was a OS / Driver Compatibility issue. I tried installing a driver, and flashing with v20a on my neighbors computer, and it worked 1st time. We were both running win 8.1, but something must be wrong with my computer I guess.
I have the same problem and i don't know what to do
i have tried different computers and i still having the same problem
phone is n't found
any one can help me plz
