Warranty HTC One Sprint - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my friend has a One and lives in Europe. His headphone jack just stopped working, he is completely stock. Since he is in Albania and bought the phone second hand, can he send it to HTC for repairs? The phone is supposedly still under warranty, right? Would HTC do it for free?

question about sending nexus one back for repair

The glass digitizer on my nexus cracked so I'm sending it back to HTC for repair. Since I'm paying for this repair, it doesn't matter if my phone's rooted or bootloader is unlocked right?
No it doesn't. That applies to warranty, since your paying, is not warranty

HTC Warranty

So I'm sending my 10 month old Incredible S into HTC for warranty repair due to dust accumulating under the screen. Does HTC still care if the phone is sent in with unsupported ROM's and S-OFF? Anybody have experience with sending a phone to HTC with an unsupported ROM still loaded?

Personally I would return to stock s-on. If your phone needs motherboard replaced later on and the have a record of your modded phone, you could be denied.
I sent mine s-off and on a custom rom
About 11 months into my warranty
They fixed it
I guess it comes down to how the repair guy is feeling and what mood he's in
Very true and if you could talk to the person at the service center and convince him he just might take it even if modded!!

UK repairs

I have a HTC one in black brought from a reputable second hand company. I have now got crackling speaker (top) phone debobding near SIM tray and purple tint camera. Has anyone sent there's from UK does it goto a company in Leeds can't remember the name but most contract phones do. They are horrendous cowboys I'd rather have my nephew take it a apart (he's 3). Or HTC
Mate I had a lot of problems with them and they are cowboys. Had problems after 2 weeks faulty usb and board. Then got it back scratched to #### which it then took about 2 months to get a new front of phone. Which they then sent my phone back not doing. So kicked off and got a new phone in the end.

Bought second hand. Can I send for repairs?

I bought an HTC One used. Everything seemed fine with it until I tested it against my friend's HTC one. I noticed the bottom speaker on mine distorts/buzzes above a certain volume and during certain frequencies (usually bass). I'm not sure if it is blown it or somehow loose in the casings. I would like to send it in to HTC if I can but I don't know if they will even work with me since I am the second owner. Anyone else been in this situation?

hi,
since your device should still have warranty on it of course they will work with you. warranty is based on the device and not on the customer who bought it. hope i could help.

I would say no since you bought it 2nd hand
From my One while peeking in your window
HTC warranty repair don't ask questions about whether it was you who bought it or not. They only care about what's wrong and how to fix it.
I sent my ONE for repair with S-off and an unlocked BL as a converted GPE. They gave a quote since it had physical damage and sent me a new one.

@CheesyNutz
hi, i wonder why you believe that second hand buyers have no warranty on their devices, can you please explain that to me (us)? For example, you buy a brandnew car, with 5 years of warranty, sell it after two months....now the one, who bought your car, has no more warranty?
As i said before, warranty is based on the device, not on the customer who first bought it. Ok, i am in Germany, but warranty is handled the same way around the world, just not the same warranty time, but should at least be six months, also in US.

Call their customer service. Get the number from their website.
Most polite , educated and fast pickup I've ever had the pleasure to deal with.
Compared to other companies where I've stayed waiting for an hour before either the call dropped got transferred or I just got pissed and hung up.

HTC warranty will have some limitations. As long as it is still in warranty (not a single ONE should be out of warranty yet) they will not worry about it just don't tell them you bought it second hand. Now if the phone was out of warranty by date, then they would ask for a proof of purchase and that is where you will would run into no warranty

I just wanted to give and update on this. I followed your advice Tachi91 and rolled the dice on sending it in, S-OFF, second owner, custom ROM on the phone.
When I called them (number from the website) they didn't ask if I was the second owner but they did ask for the serial number which must have told them that the name did not match up. They didn't seem to care.
Sent it in. They decided it could not be fixed, I paid repair fee and received back a brand new phone.
Between the repair fee and the cost I spent on the actual phone, I got a brand new-from-the-factory HTC One for $130 less than full retail from t-mobile.
Good deal and very satisfied with how HTC handled it all.
Thanks Tachi91.
