dear all
i have tried everything and i think i bricked my phone.
my phone have no iemi number and the firmware info are :
PDA : I9000JPJPG
Phone : Unknown
CSC : I9000OJPJPF
Odin wont recognize the download mode so i cant flash stock rom
the problem is the phone wont recognize the simcard , everything else is normal.
i have clockworkmod recovery, tried flashing different roms and radios still nothing. it also gives me baseband unkown. what should i do???
the problem is the phone wont recognize the simcard , everything else is normal.
Is that due to you installing a rom that does not have your network
in which case in the settings manually add your Networks details apn etc .
jje
Try see if your clockwordmod has any backups? Usually when doing changes it does make a full system backup..
If so, try restore from there, it should also restore imei
Not forgetting your backed up efs folder can be replaced if you did back it up most ignore that faq .
Mine came back with install of a new rom .

I had the same thing, I had to use the 3 button method and used Odin but remember that you have to have Odin running before you connect your phone to your USB connection and you should also have your phone in Download mode using the 3 button method before connecting it to your USB connection. Otherwise Odin won't recognise it, Also you need to make sure you have the phone drivers on you PC.
I just downloaded a stock firmware from samfirmware.com and that installed brought it back to how it was when I bought it. (Fully functional) and then I tried again with rooting it and lagfixing it. works fine.
The reason why mine died in the first place was because I didn't wait long enough on the first boot after the flash and I had thought it had frozen when it was really still just writing new information to the hardware so remember to be patient on the first boot after the flash.
It seems your phone Modem part is not flashed properly thus you could not retreive the IMEI from this part.
Suggestion:
Try to locate the original ROM which comes with this phone and flash it again and check if this works. From this start from zero
Couldn't you flash the modem via clockworktecovery if odin doesn't work? Much more simple if the missing modem is the problem. Modems can be found via docs thread.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
lost IMEI
If you are not even getting Odin to connect to your phone, your bootloader must be corrupted. If the phone can get into APX mode, you can flash new bootloader and start off from there.
Connect device to Windows PC and see if Windows would detect the device to start with
hi can anyone help
i got my sgs about a mouth ago and thought that i would root it. i read up on it
so i rooted it to i9000xxjp2 2.2 which i thought was the lasted update then realised it was not so i went to go in download to do the lasted update but would not let me by the 3 button combo or by a jig the phone works fine itself apart from there is no network signal and can't connect to my pc but can connect to wifi
plz can any one help
Hi
try reinstalling the drivers through the program kies - see if the pc then recognize the phone.
did you try getting in recovery mode? you have cwm? you didnt say. if yes change the modem with a flashable zip ,that might solve the no signal.
thanks can not get into recovery or cwm but i can now see my phone in my computer but keeps saying connecting in kies
in phone go to settings -> applications ->develompment and enable usb debugging.
then you can connect to computer without kies.
youcan also try under wireless and network go to USB settings and choose "ask on connection"
does this helps?
did you try again to get into download mode with jig ?
i have tried it in debugging i can see the drives but when i click on them all it says is insert disk but i can go into them if debugging is turned off
and i have tried the jig several times now
if you need more info plz ask thanks
thanks for the replys
is there any thing else i can try
Hi
well there are the threads dedicated to the lack of download mode, you read them and tried it? (other then jig thread)

hi,
If you want the 3B combo, you must flash the bootloader fix :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201.
Check your drivers, cable (stock one) and if you, check wireless -> USB settings -> Kies mode selected.
About the network signal, check you EMEI (*#06#), if it's a default one, something happened to your /EFS folder (restoring a previous backup can, probably solve that issue).

Well, try to flash a 9305 ROM and not a 9300...
Recovering IMEI And Data Connection After Flashing WRONG Root Package
•Make sure you have Samsung Kies or the Samsung USB Driver installed on your PC.
•Download and Extract: Odin3 3.04.zip - 457.11 KB to your PC if you don't already have it.
•Download and Extract: Param_Bin_I9305.zip - 612.14 KB to your PC.
•With your Phone Switched Off, press and hold: 'VOL DN' + 'HOME' + 'POWER' to enter Download Mode.
•Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable and start Odin.
•Check your phone is connected by seeing if a COM Port in a Blue box is present under ID:COM.
•Press the 'PDA' Button and select the 'Param_Bin_I9305.tar.md5' file you extracted from the Zip Archive earlier.
•Press the 'Start' Button and wait for it to finish flashing. If successful, you will see a Green Box with 'PASS!'.
•Wait for your phone to reboot then go to your Dialer and press: *#06#. You should now see your IMEI and your Data Connection will be back.
Or send me your phone i will repair it
Send to service center.

Hi ecoll hope u will find a solution...If u want some help u know where u can find me!!
Are you certain that the USB drivers are installed correctly? Because this is the most common reason for not detecting the phone in either Odin or QPST. But if it really can't be detected by either of them, and it definitely isn't an issue with the software on your PC, then short of a JTAG box or a replacement motherboard, there's nothing you can do.

Hello.
I recently installed CM10.1.3 on my GT-I9000 running stock GB. I did everything according to the instructions (though, mind you, this was not my first time installing a ROM just the first time on this device).
When I booted and tried to set up a CM account it gave me a message saying "Insert SIM card". I tried installing the kernel again, as well as installing other ROMs (AOKP mostly).
Nothing seems to work. It will simply not recognize my SIM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

since its the first time on this device, can you check IF sim card is inserted in the correct direction
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
Yes. It is.
Might be also worth mentioning that I tried it with a few different cards, all of which work with other devices, and not with this one.

you can try taking it back to stock ROM , you can follow this but it sounds like you may have hardware problem, if that fails as sim contacts can get broken or damaged too and can be replaced. so best to test with Stock ROM to check if its a software or hardware problem. also try to flash without SIM card and insert after flashing and first boot.

For a clean install and root, flash JVU ROM and its CF_root, as it is easy and problem free. I never had any problem with JVU
The whole procedure is given below
FLASHING JVU ROM WITH ODIN v1.85:
1. Install USB drivers for i9000 on PC (ignore if already installed) and restart computer to take effect
2. Turn off your phone and put it in download mode
by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER
Do you get the Yellow Triangle?..If so
continue..if not do it again...
3. Plug in Phone with USB Cable To Computer.
4. In ID:COM it should go yellow and you should see
ADDED in the message box
5. Check Re-Partition option and then Click PIT
button to select: s1_odin_20100xxx.pit file.
6. Click PDA button and select :
CODE_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
7. Click PHONE button and select:
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
8. Click CSC button and select:
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar
9. When you have all the files needed in ODIN,
Click Start and let it Run
10. Once complete you will see S logo on phone
(computer will make a few noises like connect/
disconnecting
11.Unplug the Cable to the Phone
You will see your phone working excellent. Now it's time for rooting
Procedure for rooting:
1. Power Off Phone
2. Download CF-Root kernel first.
Unzip the file to a folder. You
will get the .tar file – CF-Root-
XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar
— inside the extracted folder. DO NOT extract
the .tar file (even if you see it as a zip
file, which it is not). You need to flash
the .tar file using Odin to gain root
access and install the ClockworkMod
Recovery (CWM) alongside. If you’re
getting zimage file, it means you’ve
extracted the .tar file too! — and that’s
not a right thing to do.
3. Boot your phone in Download Mode —
Press and hold volume down+HOME
+POWER keys together.
4. Open Odin now. Connect your phone to PC now. You’ll notice “Added! !” message in the Odin’s message box in the bottom left.
5. On Odin, click the PDA tab and select the .tar file you got in step 2 — CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-
CWM3RFS.tar
6. Make sure “Re-Partition” checkbox is not selected. Leave the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes selected.
7. Click the Start button on Odin to flash the CF-Root kernel. After the CF Root is installed, phone will restart automatically. When you see the PASS written in top left box, you can remove the cable.
8. Your phone is rooted now. That surperuser app is there! The CWM app is also there, and
clockworkmod based recovery has
been installed too. Now you enter the custom ROM world without worries. Enjoy!

I assume you have a software issue, that's why I asked you to revert to Stock ROM after you confirmed the SIM card was not inserted the wrong way round. , only IF the sock ROM also gave you that result than you need to consider hardware, as I have not heard of anyone having this issue after flashing CM 10.
AS for PIT file its in 4Shared site, all they would require is you should be a member and register with them ( you can do that with any name and password) the ROM site is FileRio, there you should only use free download button , clicked a number of times ( same button) for download to begin, both uploads were by me, so its virus free. I will upload pit file to the thread asap as its very small file.
EDIT: already uploaded PIT File to thread uploaded 3 PIT files in a package used for i9000, only use 512

the guide to solve such problems is right on top (begining) of that thread
Note:- It's assumed that you can and know how to connect your Phone to PC with USB cable . If you do not know, first install Samsung USB drivers on your PC/Laptop, than enable USB debugging on your phone by settings menu>Developer options> tick USB Debugging. After this use only Samsung USB cable and plug it into your phone micro USB port and to your PC USB Port. ( Always use the Back USB port on PC as some ports may not connect well enough for flashing ROM's. )
If unable to connect your phone to PC for any reason, refer to this guide

I tried everything in that guide, and it still the same.
Might be worth noting that the computer totally does recognize the device. I mean, I can access the internal SD from the computer, when the phone is on. It's just that when I connect it in download mode, Odin doesn't respond.
Might also be worth to stress that I used Heimdall to flash the recovery, when I did it. Could it be related to why I can't use Odin now?
And another thing regarding my main issue - could the "Insert SIM" message be a modem thing?
The password for XXJVU is samfirmware.com
If you are still unable to open this, then download XXJVU by Google searching and then try. This is the best way to get rid of the problem.
If you are able to go to download mode, install USB drivers for Samsung and restart PC . Now exit the Kies program and its related services from your PC. If you are using windows, you may find the tray icon and exit by right clicking. Now run Odin and flash.
If you are not able to go to download mode then search "homemade usb jig" and use the jig method described in those threads.
I'm trying to download the XXJVU again. Will see how goes.
I am able to go to download mode. So that's not it. I also don't have Kies installed on my computer, so that's also not it. I installed a few different Samsung drivers, and did the whole process a few times. The computer always recognizes the phone, but Odin doesn't.
I don't get why I can't delete stuff, if I accidentally posted twice. Anyway - feel free to disregard this one. Sorry for spamming..
OK. Managed to open the XXJVU.
Still have the problem with Odin not paying attention to my phone being there. Do you think it might be a problem with dl mode, that I should try fix with a jig (the phone does act LIKE it in dl mode - yellow triangle and all...)?

You seem to be having strange problems. I assume you pressed the correct combo keys ( as shown in image on that thread) and you did not get download mode ( this could be due to ) you don't have an i9000 but a different version of Galaxy S? or your keys are not functioning or you have a wrong bootloader
so use this methods & tool from PC to boot into download mode after you are sure you have an i9000 international version by checking under the battery. just to give you an idea , read this
Odin will only connect when phone is in Download mode, so as you mentioned you have NO problem with drivers and PC, its only your phone not being able to enter download mode.

I will try the ADB solution tomorrow. But doesn't the fact that the phone displays the download mode screen say that it is indeed in that mode? (because it does display it, as I mentioned above). I mean - is it possible that the phone seems like it is in download mode, when it's actually not?
Thanks!

hmm, i got the impression that you are not getting the download mode display , if it does than it is in download mode, so now you need to check your Odin3 download, what version are you using , try and download again and always use fresh Odin3, meaning, if it had a problem or even when no problem restart it a fresh. And best install Samsung USB drivers again ( link on that thread), if that did not solve it.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
I tried both versions that from here (i.e. v1.83 and v1.85). I'm not really doing anything else with Odin, so there's nothing to restart.
I also tried uninstalling and installing the drivers a few times, using a few different installation files, and by letting windows figure out on its own which drivers to install.
Non of it changed the result.

Okay so i did something dumb and I'm wondering if there is a way out. I just got my second Note 5 because I dropped my first one and the screen went black. It was gonna be cheaper and easier to just buy a new device than actually repairing all the damage.
I installed TWRP through Odin. Stupidly, I did a complete wipe, including internal storage, and now I can't get the device to see the USB/OTG. I have a new cable on the way that's going to get here tomorrow. I can't think of what else it could be? Any ideas would be much appreciated. It doesn't have an OS so I'm thinking I may have wasted 250$.
It's not turbo charging either so could It be the charging port that's causing it to not be picking up the OTG?
Does Odin recognize it at least in download mode?
Have you tried mount on as usb in twrp?
press install>select storage then there will be two option
Internal storage and USB storage. Click on USB and the value will change from 0 to the amount of gb your otg have, then you can flash via otg

I tried to mount it in TWRP but the box is uncheckable. That is my problem. I go to install and under the select storage I cant select USB OTG and it says (0MB). I'm kinda perplexed. Thanks for the advice though!

Step 3 from the other guy's post above you. That's what I was gonna help you with because you wiped the internal storage. Odin will still recognize it but in Download mode and she won't work again unless you flash the stock firmware specifically for your phone from the link above.
Fixed
I reOdined and same problem so I went back and looked at the instructions. I saw that you had to have MM flashed onto the device so I tried that and it worked. I just figured updating the phone would give me enough but it didn't. Thanks for all the help guys!
