[Q] Cannot get root on Xperia Z1 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying this for most of the day, having read everything here about doing it, and even watching the video.
Unfortunately, I let the phone update to 14.1.G.2.257, but I found the instructions on how to flash back to the previous 1.534. The flashing worked perfectly.
I am trying to use Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v32 having read how to and watched the tutorial. USB debugging is enabled, as is Unknown Sources, and the 'adb devices' command in the stuff folder of the afformentioned program lists the phone.
However, it does not seem to work. I get the following output:
Code:
C:\xpe>runme

Bin4ry v25 Issue

Hello All,
Used the root script from Bin4ry, all went well... except at the end where it informs you "If all goes well, I'll tell you, if not this will run forever" (or words to that effect), well... it ran for a considerable time, so I disconnected everything and messed around with the phone, terminal emulator informed me that I did indeed have root access (PID: 0) I was able to access sbin etc... great I thought, but why didn't SuperUser show a dialogue requesting root access... I assumed maybe a busybox problem so I downloaded that and installed it, it all worked well... still no root dialogue, just to make 100% sure I checked with RootChecker and it confirmed I have root. So I rebooted the phone, now there is no root access and I can't seem to get Bin4ry's script to work again, I'm assuming there are maybe remnant files causing an error of some sort?
Anyway, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this and maybe provide me with a solution to rooting the thing?!

v22 and later Bin4ry versions fail on Xperia T JB at the busybox installer, so use v21 instead. If you can't find it, I can upload it to somewhere, please pm.
I think just go to your phone, this line tells you what to do next
After restore is confirmed please look on your device and choose "Service Tests

In your phone, the service menu is displayed, go to "service tests" > "display"
then just touch the screen, the color will change and the rooting process will proceed..

Why? Binary v21 works very nicely with xperia T... Interestingly, v25 seems to temporarily root it, then on reboot a factory reset is required before v21 will work. Strange.

It would have done it by now, if it hasn't done it's job in 2 minutes, it's not going to... I know it's painful, but.. restore your phone back to factory, uninstall/reinstall the Sony app from your computer and try again, it took me a fair bit of messing around, and ultimately when I got to where you were that's what did the trick.
You're also getting a "Restore started" then straight away "Restore finished" dialogue right? ... that's exactly where I was.
How this works is, the backup restore process is started and data is mounted as r/w the superuser app and busybox are put there during this time (all ninja like), but it seems it can/does fail, I'm sure someone cleverer than us can shed light as to why, but until then... start with a clean slate both on the Xperia and your computer (... a complex version of "Turn it off and turn it back on again")
I once read somewhere you have to keep tapping it every 3 or 4 second.
That's whati always do and it worked for me. I always use v21 though (just because I have it )

Fortunately I didn't have to go through all this. I went through the simple version of "turn it off and on again", and it worked. I simply disconnected my phone, rebooted it, restarted the process (twice), and it just magically worked on the third time.
Try v26 option 3. It worked fine for me. I have the Bond branded phone with locked bootloader.

You want to download this version "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v32: [New Root for Z1 14.1.G.1.534]" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 Sometimes it takes a couple times.
Make sure you have ADB enabled on your tablet as well as "allow install of applications from unknown sources." I always like to set the screen time out to never when doing modifications.
I run Windows 7 64bit and it works fine.

Yes thanks, USB debugging and unknown sources are enabled. Is this the screenshot you need to see?
**Edit**
I got it to work!
I just pulled out my laptop which had a clean install of Windows 7 as of a few days ago, installed the above stuff (plus ADB drivers from pdanet) on that, and it worked.
Why it didn't work on my main PC I have no idea, but it is probably an issue with some driver somewhere messing things up. I did try reinstalling all of them, but to no avail.
Anyway, got it now. Thanks!
