Hi, from Three UK's 4G roll-out announcement, they say that they'll be sending out a software update to all 4G compatible phones. I'm wondering, since I have a custom ROM, GPe 4.4, surely I won't get that update, right? I'm running the latest firmware so is there a chance that my One is already compatible with 4G/LTE on Three UK?
Cheers.
Just to give an update on this, I went in to Birmingham this week which is a 4G area and I could connect to LTE no problems without installing an update.

I have a Bionic I've been using on net10 with the att compatible sim. It was a HW C version of the bionic. I've recently acquired 2 of the HW A versions. Connects to tmobile no problem after nv edits and build.prop edits. My question is to the others who've been using a tmobile sim with the bionic... has anyone gotten better than edge in an area where they've updated to 1900mhz? I'm in Lexington,ky and came accross a couple of tweets from tmobile customers with new phones claiming to be running on 1900mhz here, but I'm still only able to get edge. I have no way to confirm that the network upgrade has really started in my area though, and tmobile isn't being forthcoming with their upgrade schedule. You'll hear about a few cities being added here and there, but I've been unable to come across a complete up to date list of cities that have been upgraded. Anybody having any better luck yet?

I have 2 HW As working on T-mobile with 3g as the icon. The bionic is build for WCDMA so 3g is all that will appear. I just did a speed test and got 4480kbps down and 1588kbps up with 121 ping. I am in Dayton Ohio where there is spotty upgrade areas. It might be in specific areas where it works, and not cover a whole region, at least that is the story for me.
That's encouraging then. Im about 12 miles south of the area where those tweets were sent from in lexington,ky. Maybe i should have went closer into town to really test my tmobile sim, but if faster than edge data is going to be that spotty I'll stick with my att sim. So are you saying that even after their upgrade is complete the bionic still won't get 4g on tmobile?
Hello everyone
I recently bought an HTC One (Carrier: Orange CH) in Switzerland which, technically, is capable of using LTE.
Even before my number was activated (took them like 2 weeks) I flashed the custom ROM Android Revolution HD 10.1 (kernel seems to be 3.4.10-gd6f147e), choosing the International version during the Aroma Installer process.
So, here's the problem: I'm unable to connect to LTE in any way. I tried dialing *#*#4636#*#* and selecting "LTE only"-mode (which left me without signal), rebooting of course, flashing a different kernel (reflashing Android Rev later) and contacting customer service, which - as expected - brought forward no results other than "try waiting a few days".
My question: Is it possible that a custom ROM/kernel can either a) modify the radio or b) discard certain frequencies on software basis (since the US have different frequencies for LTE this seemed quite likely to me, however, I have no problems with HSPA+ and UMTS).

AFAIK the ROMs currently do not flash new radios. You might find better and more help on the ARHD forums though I searched on Google http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks but I couldn't find Orange Switzerland.
However, in Malaysia, many have been complaining of not being able to receive LTE and the solution was to ask the telco for a new Simcard since only the newer sims supported LTE. Might wanna try that
Hey thanks for your reply!
I'm kinda relieved that it probably wasn't my fault. If nobody tells me otherwise (can't hurt to hear a few more opinions though) I'll ask Orange to test my SIM on another device. It *should* work since I bought it together with my phone, but there were some issues with activation and other stuff, so maybe it's their fault after all.
Greetings to Malaysia and a sunny weekend!

Hey guys,
Just wondering for those of you who are also using Google Edition on 4.3 (whether purchased a GE or "converted" to GE or just applied the latest radio from GE [4A.18.3263.15_10.38h.1157.04L]) and are on AT&T if you've noticed a decrease in network service on this new radio.
I was using the latest AT&T radio (the one that enabled the additional bands) for a couple days after it came out before 4.3 - Friday night after 4.3 came out I used the conversion process to GE so I could flash the 4.3 OTA, and along with it the new firmware and radio and since then I've noticed my service to be lacking. At first I thought it was just the visual indicators (even my WiFi never had full bars and that was in a 600 sq ft studio apartment!) but today now that I'm back to work in an LTE area (I live in Los Angeles), I'm only getting HSPA (indicator says H, not LTE now).
I know I can easily flash that other radio again, and I probably will. But, just curious on other's experience with the GE radio.
I would stick with the att specific radio that enables lte band 2 and 5 as it has made a huge difference for me there were areas I only got 1 or 2 bars in city
Not anymore 3-4 bars always till I go outside of city

I am not running the GE rom, but on Sense rom and I ran both. I found the initial one that unlocked the bands (4A.17.3250.20) was a great improvement for my network speed on LTE. I only ran a few tests on the newer GE radio but I do think it is a little slower, and just barely. However I have stuck with the latest radio becasue I think the battery is better when using LTE even if the speed isn't quite as good. Not a very large difference mind you, I'm talking like an average of 1-2 Mbps slower on the download side only. So could be nothing, since I didn't do lots of tests on both.

Yeah, I think I will go back and see how it goes. I was wondering if GE radio also enabled those LTE bands for AT&T but I'm assuming they did not? Is there any way to test for sure I wonder aside from just "visual cues"?
I applied the 4.3 GE RUU on my 64GB DE HTC One and am getting ~20Mbps compared to 30+Mbps with the 4.1.2 stock rom.
Has anyone tried applying the ATT radio on a 4.3 GE rom?
Thanks!

bump~ anyone?
I did the full convention when the 4.3 ota dropped. Wasn't a big fan of GE so I converted back to sense, but left the firmware and radio in place simply because I was lazy. I flashes the newest at&t radio a few days ago. I now LTE at my house consistently where as I didn't get LTE before. I haven't done any speed tests since its not a big deal to me since I use wifi about 90% of the time.

I applied the radio from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388809&highlight=fastboot and now I'm getting much better speed with AT&T. :good:
I have a T-Mobile retail 1st gen ( xt1053 ) that has been on AT+T since new with no issues. Now, since updating to the OTA 5.1 I've lost LTE. I get 4G, but I've confirmed I'm getting HPSA+ speeds only, and the notification lists "4G" whereas before the update to Loillipop it specified LTE. I've kept it stock since the update and everything else works, just no LTE.
Again, before the update I *did* get LTE. I've read about AT&T needing to "provision" an account for LTE, and that maybe this wouldn't be automatic if you were using a non-AT&T phone, but since i had LTE before with this phone, and the only change was the update, I don't know if that could be the issue.
Anybody else run into this ?

Unfortunately don't know the reason for that, would think something in the settings, or some update to the modem/radio?
But do have a question -my friend has the same phone Retail XT1053 using AT&T, but doesn't get LTE, at least wasn't before 5.0, will assume still not.
Wondering if you had to change any settings to get LTE -AT&T said it's not possible on that phone, but did see some posts in the past about changing some settings to get LTE (i.e, settings under data to automatic, etc) but his doesn't have the options mentioned.
Hope you get it figured out, will be interested, too
Family has 4 XT1053's on AT&T for the past 15 months and we all get LTE. Didn't have to do anything special. They put nano SIMs in our phones at one of their company retail stores, and it just works. Was roaming in Canada last week on Rodgers, and got LTE there as well. Don't remember having to do anything with the APN setting either. The XT1053 is missing one of the AT&T LTE bands which is on their model, but didn't think they were using that band in the US yet. Maybe that has changed and that band is used in your area. None of us have upgraded to 5.1 yet so can't comment on changes from the new OS.

When I switched from my Galaxy S2 on AT+T to the xt1053 I didn't have to change anything. I did have the same issue for a few days, but then one day LTE was there. Since the S2 was a non-LTE phone I just figured there was something that needed to happen on the backend for AT&T to enable it. If you search online there are numerous people having the same issue for multiple phones - usually non-AT&T specific unlocked models. Some people claim AT&T support was able to do something for them, others say that putting their SIM in an AT&T branded phone let it "register" and after that they got LTE. I didn't have to do either, it just came on after a couple days. I was about to go to the nearest AT&T store, but then LTE started working.
So...I don't know what the real fix was back then. Since I get good enough speed to stream, which is all I need, it's not critical, just annoying. It's been 2 weeks since I updated, so I'll probably head to the store this weekend to see if they can help.

Thanks. I went with the friend that has the XT1053 to a company AT&T store, showed them my phone, too, which is an AT&T branded XT1058 with LTE -he did seem a bit confused, but claimed mine could because it was AT&T branded, that his didn't support the bands for LTE but obviously people are able to get LTE on the XT1053 with AT&T
And once again LTE appeared without me doing anything. This time it just took longer than when I originally got the phone. Today ( 3 weeks exactly after flashing the OTA Lollipop update ) it decided to connect via LTE and not "just" 4G. As I said in the original post, back when I first got the phone ( Xmas 2013 ) it look 2 or maybe 3 days before it connected to LTE.
I just wish I knew what the trigger was.
Anyway, working now.
Hello everyone.
I have an HTC 626 from Verizon.
I'm using it in Europe.
I noticed that the 4G doesn't work,
HotSpot doesn't work,
No updates (Currently 5.1, sense 7.0)
A friend told me that these are common problems with HTC Verizon outside USA.
Is there a way to enable 4G and HotSpot and get updates?
Will rooting and installing a custom firmware solve these problems, or they're hardware related since it's a CDMA/GSM phone?
Thanks in advance
where are you guys?
