[Q] Stupid (probably) Firmware Question - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Okay, a bit of a noob, and I apologize up front as I'm sure this has been asked.
I didn't root my One until after the 4.3 OTA update. Now, my question is, does this upgrade my firmware as well? Because if not then I wanna update it before I re-rom my phone.
Please and thanks!

If you took the OTA everything is up to date

To upgrade to GB or not via OTA

Just wonder if I should upgrade to GB if HTC push it via OTA. I remember the old day when I was using Hero, I was told not to upgrade to 2.1 directly via OTA since that will also install a new bootloader which will make my phone unable to be rooted again.
Is the same also apply to IS? I know we don't have a root method for S-ON phones so far. But if later someone finds an exploit in the original firmware, the new GB ROM might have already fixed that. So root might only be possible in the original firmware. And those who upgraded might be busted.
Am I correct here?
yes mate you are correct, but rather like to see this kind of questions in the general section where they belong

YES its rootable all you need to run the doomloard's event exploit from original dev section.. happy rooting
ok, I checked that thread and now have additional question for anyone who can have a time and knowledge to answer. obviously there is a new stock rom 12.0.A.2.245 for our bellowed SP. now, I have that older version 12.0.A.1.257 and though I tried updating device firmware I receive message that my phone is up to date. so I assumed this is probably due to some drug deal sony have with my operator ( the one the phone came from) and now for some reason sony would not let me update firmware (yet). so my question is next, actually there are several questions:
A. am I'm going to brick my phone if I manually download and update new firmware via flashtool regardless of sony saying my device is up to date?
B. Is this new firmware 12.0.A.2.245 so much better that is actually worth updating? (this should be A)
C. if i root this old firmware and perhaps install CW as well, and than update to the new one, am I'm going to loose both root and CW, or perhaps only CW after updating? or i will get to keep root and CW?
D. is it better to update and than root, or root and than update?
i hope this is not too much. thanks!
ps. i forgot to say, though my phone came from an operator, it is not sim locked and boot unlock status is YES

A. no unless u r on unlocked bootloader that should brick our phone.
B. every firmware bring new advantages and disadvanteges..so i think u should upgrade it because camera has been improved! (low light photography)
C no u will loose both root and cwm
D both first update than root !! ROOT IS AWSM!!! it makes u feels that device is actually yours!!
thanks for a quick reply. so, I am going to update first and than do that "flash old kernel - root - flash new kernel" thing. and than backup the TA partition from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
I would like to save the BE and DRM keys 'cause I'm sure I'll unlock bootloader as well that entire process is what makes android so much better that sh**pple. like you said, you actually get to own your device. thanks again and thanks XDA!

Keep root and upgrade to 5.0.1?

Hello,
Sorry for the noob question, but I was wondering on how to keep root through this update. Do I just take the update? Or do I have to wait for another root from chainfire for the new update?
Thanks

If you try to take the ota while rooted it will fail so you can either unroot and do the ota and then reroot or if you have twrp theres a stock rooted rom in the development section you can flash on top of your stock rom that works just fine

S5 Active Help

Hey guys, I have had an s5 Active for a while and my friend rooted it back in december. I have no idea how he did it or if the bootloader is unlocked. All i can say is that I have xposed installer installed. Can someone help me out with either unrooting and updating or updating and staying rooted. If I have to unroot that is fine I just want to do this right without bricking.
also I'm on 4.4.2
update:
So i'm reading around and am getting the gist of needing to update from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 ota and then from there go to 5. I know that'll unroot me. Is this correct
In General Section u will find most if not all which u seek.
Here one post.

rooted note 8, can I update?

I know I have posted multiple times asking the same question, sorry about that still learning how this works. I am aware that if I do a software update, I will lose root. However it has been quite some time and I would like to update if I can. My worry is, will I brick my phone?. This is a link to steps I followed to root my phone. I am still very new to this, sorry. And thank you for you help! Love XDA

Yo will not get OTA updates while rooted, but you can download any available firmware for your device/country/opearator, one consideration to take into account: if you want to downgrade for any reason, you must not install a firmware with a higher bootloader version
