Not sure which thread I'm supposed to be in for the Google edition of the One, does it matter? I mean as long as it's a GSM variant I should be able to go from ATT, TMO and the original One threads and use the ROMs, right?
Correct. Stay away from 4.4 ROM unless you have soff

I haven't owned an HTC device for a while, but getting S-Off isn't too difficult with the One is it? I know with the Google Edition, it's already unlocked, but thats just bootloader?

What does it mean if you don't have s-off or s-on?
what I flashed:
1.)eng-spl (for the 1.47 hboot)
At this point I try to activate the phone for an addition line. Sprint said they couldn't as it and been put on another provider and if i could get it to stock it would be fine. this is when i try to undo what i had done.
2.)unrevoked
3.)unrevoked-forever
4.)stock-hboot (to flash back to the 1.41 hboot)
but after I flashed back to 1.41 there is no s-off or on.
So I am not sure what to do at this point.

so are you just trying activate the phone on sprint? if so you dont have to undo anything. you just have to flash a one of the older sense based Roms, and they can then activate it for you.. it just cant be activated from cyanogen or aosp based stuff..
EDIT: did you actually have it on another carrier???
if u had it on another carrier sprint will not activate thats the draw back with cdma phones once the esn number has been activated its very hard to get another carrier to reactivate it.

The HERO was my phone before I got my evo (and into rooting and flashing) and has been on no other carriers. My little bro was getting a line on my plan and when i took it up there the sprint chick said she couldnt activate because it had been on another carrier.
I just ran an old RUU .5 and the s-off is now appearing again. Do they check for that at the store?

It was the stock rom. It wasn't even rooted at that point the only thing i had run was the hboot update to 1.47(eng-spl i think it's been so long) as I was thinking of rooting it but never took the steps.
would transferring the phone online work ? Would she have flaged it in anyway in the system?

i literally 5 days ago activated a hero on my friends account online that was rooted and was s-off.. i just had to put a sense rom on it.. had no issues what so ever.. i doubt that the sprint equipment would pick up on it, because they just activate it online anyway.. if they give you trouble again, do it online, and if that is giving you problems just call them from another phone and they can do it over the phone.. i never go in to the sprint store unless i have to.. they are usually idiots (sorry to anyone who may work for sprint on here), at least at my sprint stores..

First off, why do you want to do this?
Second, flashing ROMs/Recoveries/Kernels for a different device will not work and can possiblly hard or soft brick your device.
Thirdly, If you want to use the Sprint Phone on Verizon that's a tottoally different issue than flashing a Verizon One ROM.
So in short, Do Not Do It.

Hi,
I have a noob question, and I'm sorry that this not where i should post
I have an International HTC One M7 (4.4.2 and Sense 6). Since HTC is committed to provide OTAs for Android L, which I don't want to miss. But I want my phone to be S-Off and Unlocked bootloader. I've read a post saying that we are still eligible for OTAs if we have stock recovery, stock rom. So I just want to Unlock my bootloader and S-Off, thats it I dont want to install any recovery or flash any roms. I only want this because, i will be frank, i need that pan360 feature in my camera (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU28g9yxzN4) as you can see at 14:45 in the linked video. So what should I do? And unlocking bootloader, getting s-off and relocking the bootloader qualifies us to get OTAs? how exactly does the HTCs OTAs check in my phone before it decides whether im eligible for OTA or not.
Thanks in advance!

Ok unlocking your boot loader and getting soff will have nothing to do with getting the app. That may rely on being rooted which will mean ugly will need to flash something. To be honest I wouldn't count on an ota before there is a flashable zip built from source.

You mean, we dont need an OTA since side loading is already available even before the OTA reaches the devices?? If YES then does rooting enable side loading?

Most of the time yes. There is a built ROM from source within a matter of hours if not before most get the OTA. No rooting doesn't enable it. Just unlocked bootloader. Maybe soff depending on if there is a new radio.
And to be honest with all the issues with OTA I never advise using them.
Also looking at the video. You would have to flash a rom to get what you want anyway.

Yeah, doesnt it look cool That rom in the video is from Elegancia which is discontinued now! And is it advisable to unlock your bootloader using HTC Dev? I hear if we do that using htc dev, you will never be able to get the OTAs or am i being paranoid? (considering your suggestion of OTAs being problematic )

To be honest I stopped using gas sense 5 min after I got the device. I am one of the old school that remembers Sense before Android and think HTC killed it.
Yes you can use HTC dev to unlock the bootloader. I wish advise hitting up the device forum and reading up
Oh and on a side note. HTC comment about the L release was targeting the GPE version of the device. Not the sense version.

Two more questions
1) How does putting a LOCKED message after unlocking the bootloader in the boot page helps? Most of the people are concerned about changing that message from UNLOCKED to LOCKED.
2) And will there be any problem if I just Unlock the bootloader and S-Off and continue using the Stock ROM from HTC that i have? I may root the device later, but keeping it like that could harm the device in any manner?

To be honest They worry about it because if HTC sees that you unlocked your bootloader then your warranty is voided. While This is something most accept as a price you pay for modding your device, Some dont want to accept the responsability and try to commit fraud but altering the bootloader to relocked status.
no there should be no problem with just doing that. But to be honest there is no point until your ready to take it further.

Thanks a lot for your answers I shall look for info in other threads and try to contribute. And HTC has committed to provide all the updates for a new device for 2 years, and the leaks from llabfooter on twitter show that L will also be released for other HTC one series models

Hello,
I am very sorry if I am posting this in the wrong thread. My question is I am planning on buying a blue AT&T unlocked m7 from eBay. But I want to be sure that I will have the option to root/unlock boot loader for the GPE 5.0 if wanted. Is every GSM M7 able to? not sure if there is something special about it being blue.
Is there anyway to tell if I can or not?
Thank you so much!

If it's at&t Unlocking the bootloader shouldn't be a problem. You can do it at www.htcdev.com
To convert to GPE requires s-off which depending on the devices current firmware may cost extra. As you may need to use sunshine to s-off which costs $25. There are free exploits but non guarantee s-off on newer firmwares.
There are only 2 types of HTC one I know of that can't be unlocked and that's Verizon and GPE.

Go to this thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-one-m9/general/please-read-rooting-using-twrp-t3069022]. Hi, I am trying to convert to Tmobile. I bought Verizon M9 because I got a good deal on it and thought since they are unlocked I could just put my SIM in and be working right away. I can make calls and text message and use internet after adding the APN. But I can't get the hotspot to work, hate the Unknown SIM notification and all the VZN apps. To get my phone as close to Tmo as possible would I just have to follow Captain_Throwback's guide and then flash a Tmo rom, or restore a backup, or RUU? Sorry for the noob question

I didn't think you could use a Verizon phone on a GSM carrier network, but if you can that's cool. If your phone is working on the T-Mobile network you can unlock the bootloader and root to install a T-Mobile rom, but you will have to check with the Sunshine thread to see if they have it working on Verizon M9's yet. If they do you can S-OFF, and install T-Mobile firmware and rom. Keep me posted on how you do.
