I need to get fastboot working to flash the 2708+ radio/hboot combo, for a rom I want to try. No devices show up under fastboot devices (from command prompt), but it does show up under adb devices. I don't have sdk properly installed, for some reason it wont take on my pc. It was a lengthy process getting adb to work a few months ago, I don't even remember what I did. Please help.
make certain the phone is in fastboot and not hboot mode by hitting the back button
you can flash the radio in recovery, attention it has chance to be bricked.
Ok i just recently installed adb for the same reason, i had trouble at first but then i found this video which made everything really easy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg-cGTZE2XI&feature=related
Now adb works on my computer perfectly
once u install adb fastboot is already there, all u have to do is install the correct drivers for fastboot. So this is what you do:
1. turn off your phone and then turn it back on using the back and home button
(this will boot you into bootloader)
2. Now it should some information and it should say FASTBOOT in green letters.
3. If it does, now plugin your usb to your phone and computer and now it will say FASTBOOT USB.
4. NOw that your phone is in fastboot, go to command prompt on your pc to lauch fastboot.
5.If you installed adb using the video above, type cd..
6. again type cd..
7. then type cd android
8. last type cd tools
9. To check if your phone is connected to your computer through fastboot, type fastboot devices.
10. It should show a long number and then connected, this is your device, if it doesnt show this u need to install the correct drivers for fastboot, if it does show your device then fastboot is working and you can use it.
11.If its not working, you need to install the correct drivers.
12. Keep your phone in FASTBOOT USB, Just leave it how it is.
13. Now on your pc, go to start.
14. right click on computer
15. click on properties.
16. click on device manager
17. now find your device, since it doesnt have the correct drivers it should be under other devices.
18. once you find it double click on it.
19. click update drivers, and choose the option that lets you choose the drivers.
20. your pc wiil scan for drivers and if you installed adb correctly, their should be adb interface drivers.
21. choose those drivers.
22. now wait for those drivers to install.
23. ANd there now u have the correct drivers for fastboot!
24. to check if it is working repeat steps 4-9
25. IF it does, You now have fastboot working on both your pc and device!
please hit the "thank you" button
Please help me!
i wanted to flash a rom so i rooted the P1000 tab
this is wath i did :
Sync with Kies
1. Download the Samsung Kies Software from here and install it to your computer.
2. Open Kies
3. Connect your device to your computer via USB cable.
4. Unplug the Tab.
5. Go to Settings > Applications > Development > and check USB Debugging ON.
6. Plug the Tab back in via USB cable and leave Kies open. It should try to connect to it this time and start installing drivers.
7. Once it installs the drivers, close Kies (regardless of whether it actually connected to the device or not).
III. Root it Using SuperOneClick
1. Download the SuperOneClick App from here.
2. Extract the SuperOneClick .zip file.
3. With the phone still plugged in from Section II, right click the SuperOneClick app and Run As Administrator (if no such option exists, just click Open).
3. When it opens, click on Root and wait 5 minutes for it to finish.
then i did this:
Patch the Bootloader
1. Once you have root access, download the following apk file and save it to your computer.
Bootloader Patch
2. Plug in your tab via USB cable and mount the storage so we can transfer files to it.
3. Copy the apk file over to the root of your storage.
4. On your tab use a file explorer (Astro File Manager from the Market works well) and select the .apk file to begin installing it. Follow the prompts that come up to install it.
5. Once installed, open it and it will check to see if you even need the patch. If it says you do, it will allow you to click the Patch Bootloaders option. Select that and wait for it to finish.
i hit reboot and the screen goes black it does nothing anymore
please tell me that i don't have to send it away
I Can't Say How HAPPY I AM!!!!!!

Hi!
I had quite alot of trouble finding a way to sideload Android 4.2 to my Nexus 7 using Windows 8. It seems as if alot of folks have trouble with this! I tried many guides, with no luck. I tried my own way, and this worked for me!
So here is my guide!
1. Download ASUS USB Driver here: asus dot com / Tablet / Nexus / Nexus_7 / #download (Select OS: Other. Then select USB. Download Zip.)
2. Extract Zip to a folder you easily can find. You need this in step 7.
3. Reboot to bootloader. (Power down. Power up while holding VolDn. Click VolUp twice. Press Pwr. Enter bootloader.)
4. Enter Device Manager. (Press WinButton+Q. Select programs. Type Device Manager.)
5. In that list, if your Nexus doesn't work with ADB, it show a "Nexus" with a yellow sign on it. If not, unplug your device and plug it in again.
6. Double click the "Nexus". Select the Driver Tab. Select update driver. Select "Browse my computer for driver"
7. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
8. Select "Have disk"
9. Browse to folder where you extracted drivers from ASUS. Select "android_winusb" Click next. It should say something about compatability. Click yes.
10. Select "Android Bootloader Interface". Install.
11. All done!
Try sideloading your update, or do whatever you like. ADB should work now.
Please reply if this works for you, or if it doesn't.
Did anyone get this to work? I'm very curious.. =)

Thanks for this , I had days of faffing around with win 8 in the end it started working no idea why, still get Fastboot errors sometimes. Going to give these a try and see if it solves the fastboot issue as well.

Thanks alot !! :good: :good: :good: I really really appreciate it !! I searched so much on the web before I posted and none was helpful, you should make a post explaining this method and giving it a good tag so it go on the top google search*
I really thankful
WARNING : THIS METHOD IS JUST FOR ZENFONE 4 T00I WITH Build Number 6.6.3.
If you have no idea how to know what build number your device are running, go to Setting > About Phone > Software Information.
The Build number must be contain with these : WW_ZenFone-V6.6.3
This method for people who get error command (or Robot with Red Sign) after flashing update with Root file via Droidboot/Fastboot. Now i will show you how to fix that with flashing custom recovery temporarily before flashing the root file. But first thing, you have to download these file :
- Intel USB Driver for Android Devices (Google it)
- Platform-Tool (or ADB Tools if you will), TWRP and Root File : drive[dot]google[dot]com/drive/folders/0B-TAWFRNxvPcZm55NVJ5RjYwdVk (change the [dot] with "." without quote, i'm still new here as silent reader btw )
- Asus Unlock Bootloader (same google drive link, after download it copy to your sdcard or internal storage)
Click to collapse
Before you follow the instruction, you have to unlock your bootloader (if you new here and don't know what i mean). If you have unlock the bootloader then skip this !!
***Unlocking Bootloader***
Downlaod "Unlock_Tool_A400_v8.1.apk" and copy it to your sdcard or internal storage.
On your device, go to File Manager and install the app. If you get a warning message then :
Click on Option at the message > Scroll a little bit until you found "Unknown sources". Tick that box and go repeat step #2
Open the app, pretending you have read the User Agreement by quick scroll to the very bottom, check the box and click Ok
Quick scroll again, tick the box Accept and click "Press to unlock your devices"
If you get a warning message just click Ok, and your device should be restart automaticly after you finish reading this step.
Click to collapse
That's it, now your devices Bootloader is unlock, now continue to the next instruction.
Follow this (NEWBIE FRIENDLY)
1. Install Intel USB Driver.
2. Enable Developer Option
Go to Setting > About Phone > Software Information. Tap the build number 7x or more until the text pop up "You are now a developer".
3. Go back to Setting > Developer Options. Scroll down a little bit until you find "Enable USB Debugging" check the box.
4. Extract the platform-tools somewhere (e.g. Desktop), then copy twrp_recovery-V3.img and Root file into the platform-tools folder. DO NOT EXTRACT THE ROOT FILE
5. Now plug in your device to your PC
6. Go to the platform-tools folder, now do this : Hold [SHIFT] + Right Click, choose and click "open command window here".
7. Check if the devices is connected by entering this command : adb devices
If it says "xxxxxxxxxxx unauthorized" then go look to your screen, check the boxes and grant / accept.
8. Do step 7 again, if command prompt now shows "xxxxxxxxxxx devices" now continue to the next step.
9. Enter this command first : adb reboot bootloader. Now your device should restart automaticly to the Droidboot mode.
10. After your device screen shows a Droidboot mode, enter this command prompt :
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery twrp_recovery-V3.img
fastboot flash update root_zenfone4_v2.zip
Click to collapse
11. Your phone should be restart after entering the final command, and then your device will go to the TWRP recovery mode and installing the root file.
FINISH !! Your phone now is rooted. Check your menu for "SuperSu" app installed after doing this method, if it want to update just click ok and click normal. Sorry for bad explaination or my english is a little bit crap.
