[Q] MTP not working? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hi.
I have ROMed i9305 (CM 10.1.3) and my PC doesn't seem to see it in MTP. No problems with PTP tho.
I'm using Windows 7 so I shouldn't have any problems. :c
I installed Samsung's drivers, nothing.
How can I fix it?

Ensure that USB debugging is enabled.
1. go to settings -> about phone then click repeatedly on the build number until development settings is unlocked
2. go to settings -> developer options (new menu) and then turn on android debugging (which mentioned usb in the description)

[Q] USB not recogonized

Symptom: When I connect USB cable in my phone, no change in system / phone. Phone is charging, but I am not seeing any notification to enable USB debugging / mounting etc.
I'm running slimbean in my cappy and I recently updated to slimbean 3.1. USB mounting worked perfectly in Slimbean 2.9, not sure if this has anything to do with the ROM upgrade.
Under settings following options are enabled
Settings -> Developer Options -> Android debugging (Enabled)
Settings -> Developer Options -> USB debugging notify (Enabled)
When I go to "Setings -> More -> Tethering", I see USB not connected
Any help to identify the root cause will be much appreciated. Do I need to enable any other settings? Is this a ROM or Kernel or Hardware issue?
Thanks

Have you tried mounting through recovery? Did you change your kernel?
Have you tried a different cable/usb port? Made sure you have the right drivers?
Could be a few things so throwing these out there.

Or have you enabled fast charge in kernel settings?

I tried mounting through recovery, but didnt work. Also I tried with two different cables and tried connecting to two different windows 7 machines.
Semaphore kernal is bundled with slimbean, so not sure if my kernel got updated to a newer version as part of slimbean 3.1 installation.

Oh, I heard some people say that had issue with that. Try a different kernel
First you must check your connection with your pc, try in another pc and cable. or usb port.
Thanks every one. Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045603 helped me solve the issue.

[Q] Can't read Atrix HD on my computer after flashing PACman ROM

Hi guys. I just installed PACman ROM latest version on my previously stock Atrix HD. Now, I can't read my Atrix HD on my computer. I already installed motorola device manager and still can't read. Is there a driver that I need to install? Thanks

Because developer mode isn't enable,
Setting --->About Phone--->hit build number 7 times.
Settings -->Developer options--->Android Debugging
rock on.

Turn on USB debugging, while connecting your device to system, reboot it without disconnecting. Also if it prompt for RSA key access check always allow this computer and accept it....

Tried your suggestions, guys. But its still not working.
I tried the 7 clicks. It showed that I have developer access. Then I turned on USB debugging and restarted the phone. No notification about USB debugging, my computer still doesn't detect it.

No adb/debgging is normal on the custom roms. Haven't had adb in at least 2 weeks.

Can you give details as to what computer/os you are running?
Does it charges when you plug the phone into the computer?
With or without developer mode enabled, your computer should still respond to the phone. If it doesn't then the problem is the computer.

Yeah its charging. Drivers tried installing but it says that it was not successfully installed. It also shows as unknown device.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit. It can detect fine back when it was stock. The problem only showed up after I installed PAC rom
The drivers can be corrupted for no good reason try deleting and re-installing.

Can't use MTP or Camera mode (at least on my linux box I can't). All I know is adb doesn't work and that's the only reason I have to plug into usb...I unmount my sd and plug it into my PC to do file transfers (or adb push from recovery)...adb does work in recovery, just not the system.

Same things happen on my linux box...problem showed up the same time for me as well....installed a 4.2.2 rom...
//this is a known issue....related to the kernel and usb drivers (started about three weeks ago) Use an earlier, first week of June or so, kernel if you need adb/usb...thought I don't recommend doing that.

+1 try to delete them in safemode to ensure that the old drivers are gone for good.
I did try PAC once and it connected to my win 7 64bit without any issues.

I had this problem.
Step 1: Enter system Settings>Developer options.
Step 2: Tick "Android debugging", "USB debugging notify" (makes it easier to know if connection is successful), and change the "Root acess" setting to "Apps and ADB".
Step 3: Reboot Phone and connect to computer.
This is what I did and I haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps

Device does not connect to PC after ROM installed

Hi
I just installed a custom lolipop 5.02 using cyanogenmod CM 12 using ODIN to my galaxy s3 mini. and everything went will
after that i tried to connect my s3 to my PC it installs the drivers and it appears in the Device Manager but it does not appear in my computer and it wont connect to kies.
I tried to enable Debugging mode and the same, i tried to change the connection type,
i went to *settings* then *storage* the from the menu i chose *USB computer connection*, once i chose PTP or MTP it gives me this error "unfortunately, settings has stopped".
It is MTP checked by default although.
this happens even without debugging enabled.
How can i get my device connects to my PC? i need to transfer data.
Thanks

Only if you have TWRP 2.8.0.0 or higher :
1. Boot to TWRP recovery
2. Navigate to "Mount" and enable "enable MTP"
3. Connect your device to your PC
Now you can transfer files between your phone and PC

I had a similar thing happen to me after an update and was forced to do a factory restore. That's why it's always good to save stuff to your removable storage; makes it much easier to transfer/salvage data when something goes wrong.

I see, have you tried clearing the cache of MTP Host from Apps in the System Settings. Also try disabling USB Debugging.
I have this same issue using LOS 15.1. The solution is to go into Developer Settings and enable MTP using the 'Select USB Configuration' option. Then when you plug in via cable you will get the notification as normal. The problem is you have to do this every reboot, otherwise it's the same situation all over again. No Notification on plugging in and no way for your PC to see the device as it defaults to Charging mode.
I have "select USB conf" set as default (charging) and never had this issue. My PC sees the device even if I don't change the mode, I just don't see any files then. What drivers are you using?

I just installed the Official Oneplus drivers but it didn't help. I didn't think it would. The generic Windows 10 drivers were working fine with LOS 14.1. As you said, the PC does see the phone just fine, but not files until MTP is enabled.
It's the lack of a Notification when plugging in that's the problem. Without the Notification i can't switch from Charging to MTP mode. I've tried all Notification levels too. The only way to get the Notification to appear is to use the MTP setting in Dev Options, and then it works.. until next reboot.
Edit: Enabling 'USB Debugging' seems to be a working fix currently!

I spoke too soon about USB Debugging working. It doesn't help across reboots. Gonna Clean Install now. Hope you find a fix.
Clean install didn't help me. Just Google 'Oreo no mtp' to see how common this is.
I have a Nexus 5X on Oreo that doesn't have this problem. Other N5X owners do have it. It's totally random.
Good news everyone...
A fix is coming:

At least for LOS 15.1 and any other ROMs based upon it.

OnePlus 3T not getting detected as a device in android studio.

I downloaded the drivers and i have windows 7 64x.
Why isnt my device not showing up? I want to be able to just run the test software right onto my phone...
Try connecting another device and re-installing drivers alongwith changing the usb debugging option.

check you Device Manager, if you see a yellow mark beside your phone, it is absolutely because of ADB Driver
