[Q] bootloop - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My friend's I9001 get stuck in bootloop when powered on it goes to logo and animation and back to logo again and animation again and again.I don't know how this phone get into bootloop. It can get to download mode but can't get to recovery mode,on the screen "RAMPDUMP MODE" cause : Force upload.I've tried to flash it back to stock rom I9001XXKQD_I9001ODDKP5_I9001DDKP9_HOME.tar.md5 and I9001XXKQD_I9001ODDKP5_I9001DDKP9_HOME.tar.rar flash it with odin it goes well except when odin says close serial port and wait for rebooting, the phone doesn't reboot, the screen remain off.it passes the odin, but when i turn it on,it keeps bootlooping.I,ve tried to flash stock recovery but no results. Is there another way to fix this?Thank you very much, any suggestion will be appreciated.

I've tried and check xsenman's tricks but still get bootlooping.flash with odin ok but the phone doesn't restart when odin say restart,it remains dead or there's battery charging logo on the screen. Is it hardware failure?

Have you done this? Solution:- Flash i9001 Boot.tar with AriesVe.ops in Odin 4.43 or look in the i9001 WIKI here

Of course, but still I can't reach recovery mode, when I push vol up and power it goes to download mode screen (but if I try yo flash with odin it shows two errors MMC Boot: MBR Read failed on the upper left of the screen),but when I push vol down home and power it could get to download mode,it can be flashed via odin but when all downoad process is done the phone doesn't reboot.and still in bootloop.Any other suggestion?I've also try to install oneclick loader but it doesn't work in my xp.Thanks before xsenman,I'm waiting your advise.

Apparently if it says MBR Failed, than your Bootloader is corrupted . refer to your i9001 WIKI and flash a clockworkMod recovery via Odin 4.43, untick auto reboot, powerdown by battery pull, than try for CWM recovery, to format everything in CWM ( you must not try to reboot phone when you format everything but only after flashing a ROM) with a stock 19001 ROM with a boot.tar , all the guides you may need is in the WIKI, make a careful digest of it and proceed, once you comprehend it all.

[Q] Boot loop just downloadmode works

Hey,
I tried to flash my Samsung GT-9000 2.2.1 with " CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVK-v3.1-CWM3RFS " over the mobile Odin the phone did restart and I think it done the flash, but I'm not sure. Now my phone has the boot loop. I can't enter the recovery mode but the download mode is available. USB- Debugging is OFF.
I tried several times to flash over Odin3 with the last firmware but it stucks and I tried to PIT with 512 over Odin and it stucks too after File analysis.

[Q] doesn't boot after Odin flash

UPDATE:
After 2 weeks of searching, waiting, pain and suffering from the absence of my beloved I9000, i just discovered that the real reason of all this is because the phone was wet, it's not because the battery have died or because of the CyanogenMod nightly build, it was just water...
Currently the phone is being repaired by a phone technician, but i frankly doesn't have too much hope ...
thank you

Hello everyone,
i was facing a big problem the last couple of days, my phone wont turn on, and recovery and download modes doesn't work
(it just happened after phone battery died)
PS :
i was using Cyanogenmod (am not sure what version exactly)
anyway,
after looking here and there, i managed to get the download mode working, so i followed these steps to get back on stock rom :
http://roms.android-emotions.com/stock-rom-2-3-6-for-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000/
IMPORTANT!!
i wanted to follow the steps on the thread of the xda galaxyS forum,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818556
but the link that must lead to the file " I9000XXJVQ_by_Virnik.rar " doesn't work
it keeps downloading "iLividSetup-r484-n-bc"
what's wrong with that ?
anyway,
after follow the other instructions, i get the green "PASS" and the phone try to reboot but it get stuck on the samsung galaxy home screen, it just stay there for ever, and there is no "Reboot" in the Odin Log
i tried this instructions too :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922505
but it stay for ever on "Setup Connection"
and like always the recovery mode doesn't work
any help please ???
thank you

Just enter download mode and make sure you kill KIES on your PC, so that your setup connection problem will end and after that flash the gingerbread stock ROM as described in this tutorial

Check My Android Solutions. link below to solve boot loops , My thread is a total guide to upgrade from froyo to Jelly bean so it has a lot of details broken down under specific items so read only what you want to do since you are in gingerbread you only need to flash the JVU ROM and after that the JVU CWM kernel. I thought it was simple guide.

the JVU ROM, has a JVU kernel but it does not have CWM or Root, flashing the CF root kernel gives you root and most of all CWM recovery , which is needed in order to upgrade to ICS or Jelly Bean or Kit Kat.
i9000 rescue kit may contain just stock ROM and kernel, the version will depend on the kit, its more or less the stock ROM

If you've used some custom ROM with different system partitions, you have to flash the PIT file together with the stock ROM and your i9000 will work again.
Check my thread, whole unbricking is described step by step there and all download links are still active. It should revive your i9000. If it helps, post in the thread that it helped.

Your post looks very informative and i will defenetly follow through, but there is 1 problem, which i think is a big problem, i can't tell my phone version; all i know that i have Galaxy S I9000, i cannot know the IMEI number because the one who gave me the phone has removed the "paper" on the back :

yup, this would be an issue, that needs sorting out first, so use ADB, hope you have some knowledge about it, if not go here
than use ADB to pull the Build prop, after which open it with a notepad to see what model is your phone
the command would be adb pull /system/build.prop C:\ to pull it from your phone to your PC hard drive
you can also check if it has a backup file called build.prop.bak , pull that too
once you know for sure, than it would be better and easier to resolve.

Code:
adb devices
doesn't show anything (phone recognized in Odin, all Kies are off )
what now :/ ??
Question :
when i changed to CyanogenMod i don't remember being worried about device specific model, i just choose the I9000 firmware and everything worked fine, can't i just do the same now ??? it's not necessary to go back to the original firmware i just want the phone to work again...
it really sucks man i have been fighting this problem for days now and nothing worked, and what is really annoying is that there is no hardware issue, when WindowsXp doesn't find that small boot.ini file it's very easy to quickly repaired with Xp cd or just re-install the system again, but in my case here, instead of doing that, i guess i'll have to buy a new phone ?? why ?

you need to get into recovery mode to flash a custom ROM, so here is what you can do flash a semaphore kernel as before , untick "reboot" in Odin3 when flashing, after that pull out battery, reinsert and use combo keys for CWM recovery mode
In CWM you can flash the CM ICS ROM, as mentioned in that guide to get your phone booting :fingers-crossed:

It is easy to find out, as the codes in the firmware/baseband code are regarding the regions. You can browse in www which is the proper regional code for your country.
Odin 1.83 is compatible, run is as administrator. The ROMs are out of 3 parts. Try to flash one of them as described (choosing proper files for PDA, CSC, Modem plus Pit 512 file) when all ready, run download mode , connect USB cable and start flashing as soon as Odin recognizes your phone. Don't leave it long in download mode waiting as the i9000 seems to have some kind of standby/sleep after 30sec or bit longer.
Remember what Odin displays in the leftmost fields during the flashing and post here (quote my text please / reply) if something goes wrong. Otherwise that proceeding should revive your phone.

sorry about the delayed response. Actually it looks like your problem is identical to this thread so can you tell me did you use CM updater or did this problem crop up because you down grade from one CM version to another?
In any case lets try and fix the boot loader , flash the JVU bootloader , phone bootloader update ticked with the PIT file (repartition ticked) and see if it boots .
or at least you should be able to get into recovery mode with combo keys after this. IF it did not boot you can flash the JVU ROM again
I doubt this is due to corrupt internal SD card, but maybe its the final option to try in-order to get your phone booting

Today i got same problem, phone with Cyanogenmod in bootloop, on charger same bootloop. Solved with flashing stock ROM with Odin.
Maybe stupid question, but noone asked it, is your battery charged? Because in bootloop it does not charge the battery. And for flashing you need more then minimum. If you have multimeter measure voltage on battery, if it is 3,7V and less, flasshing will not be done, you need about 3,9V.

Did you update in SDK manager sources for your Android version? Check my thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444308
You will find on the bottom of the OP attached screenshot with red mark where you have to check and download updates.
ADB drivers for Android versions 4.0+ could be not pre-installed and you have to do it manually. So for CM10.x ROMs you shouldn't use ADB (SDK manager) versions older than 1.0.31.

ok, can you try flashing them all at one go, as mentioned below ( remove SIM CARD as well as EXT SD Card)

EDIT: IF still not booting, flash the CWM semaphore kernel, see if get into CWM recovery
as for using external SD card 8GB or 16 GB will be better, you need a 2GB primary partition (acts as phone memory) and the rest of it as a second partition. (acts as internal SD card)

ok, can you try flashing them all at one go, as mentioned below ( remove SIM CARD as well as EXT SD Card)
1) Select PIT > 512 PIT (If 'Re-Partition' is not checked under 'Option', check it)
2) Select Bootloader > i9000_xwjvu.tar ( do not tick update phone boot loader)
3. Select PDA > CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.m d5
4. Select PHONE > MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5

[Q] [HELP] Samsung I9001 impossible to recover :(

Hello everybody,
Ok, here's the deal, my samsung galaxy s plus (I9001) is in a continuous bootloop of the samsung logo, doesnt charge, no recovery mode, and the only thing i can use is download mode.
So i've tried flashing inumerous ROMS (stock and custom ones) and nothing works, i've also tried to replace the boot loader but still nothing. I've also tried to see if the problem had anything to do with the eMMC, and once again i failed. Oh, and i also tried to unbrick it using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216996&highlight=userdata+img+ext4
I can't really deal with this by myself cause i've tried everything i could and still got no progress whatsoever.
SOMEONE HELP ME THIS PHONE IS DRIVING ME INSANE!
Thanks in advance.

Download a i9001 ver 6 CWM from [Toolkit][A.I.O Rescue & Recovery] My Android Collection, flash it using Odin with areiesVe.ops ( untick auto reboot in Odin) . After remove battery and insert, reboot in CWM, and format every partition ( also do not reboot) power off, remove battery, insert , enter download mode and flash a i9001 stock ROM & boot loader (tick, update bootloader) with ariesVe.ops

Thanks for your response! I'm going to try it, i'll post the results later. THANK YOU!
[UPDATE]
I've flashed the CWM like you said but the phone still doesnt boot into recovery. I couldnt find the odin version on the link you wrote so i used this one:
"cwm 6037:
http://rapidgator.net/file/6ccfef8e2...31dfeec6711b72"
dont know if it changes anything, i'm just saying so you understand the procedure fully.
Ok, so I tried a couple more times and the phone still doesnt go into recovery. All i see is "Samsung... Samsung... Samsung" and it's tripping me out.
Please help me out, it's been really frustrating cause I've tried EVERYTHING and still no progress has been made.

I know i've been using the correct keys, i've confirmed before, started doubting about that a while ago but everything is alright and the keys are not broken :s
Also, i cant use the repair tool cause the phone doesnt even turn on. It doesnt do anything besides the samsung logo and download mode. Nothing.
I've tried those and still nothing.
Any other solutions? I'm so sorry for being a pain, but the phone isnt helping, i already thought of throwing it against a wall but it wouldn't do much good. Thanks in advance, once again.

The reboot tool, will do the job from your PC, as long as you can enter download mode and connect to odin, it should be possible, did you try it?

Than the only other option, is to use a Riff box, meaning you need to take it to a mobile technician to try and flash the board internally., since nothing works. sorry, it could be due to hardware failure, since software solutions are not working for you.
