[Q] Data question - Motorola Atrix HD

Motorola Atrix HD. While I have data off and say a photo comes, will I get it when I turn data on?

You are correct

Yes, photos and videos are MMS, multimedia messages, and they travel over data networks. Imagine you turned your cell phone off, then turned it back on in the morning. The picture would be received in the morning. Not quite sure what the timestamp would read though.
Here's an article explaining it more in depth http://gizmodo.com/5947906/this-is-how-your-mobile-data-travels-the-world.

No MMS after 4.4.2

Hello,
I have an AT&T HTC One running a Straight Talk (ATT LTE) SIM. When I first had the phone everything was running great. Great speeds, SMS, MMS, etc. Now, for some reason, I no longer get any MMS! I still get full speeds and regular messages, but not pictures or group messages (sending or receiving).
We set my wife's S3 Mini up the same way, and she is able to get everything (minus LTE for obvious reasons). The only difference is that I updated to 4.4.2.
I've tried every single ST APN I can find, and still am not able to send/receiving any MMS's. Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks.
P.S. If this is in the wrong area, I apologize.
I am having the same issue. SMS works fine, no MMS. MMS just sits in Undelivered status.
Running rooted 4.4.2, S-OFF, Bulletproof Kernel.
unfortunately same for me. Already double checked APN settings and network types.
Tried many different APN from my carrier and still no MMS, mobile data is working good.
When I try to send/receive a MMS I can see the mobile data icon appear briefly but no data get transferred.
Already contacted my carrier. Tech support said my apn was properly set and that everything on their side was good (in my account).
I might try to downgrade my sw soon so I can see if its really 4.4.2 that is causing this. I'll report back.
Thanks for the replies! Glad it isn't just me. I've even tried using other Messenger apps, but still nothing.
Same here. HTC ONE at&t on Straight Talk service. No mms after update. This is so frustrating! I was on the phone with ST yesterday for a few hours and they are all clueless on how to fix it. The only advice I got was to downgrade back to 4.3

Any word yet? I've made zero progress so far contacting both HTC and Straight Talk.

No, I'll probably downgrade and test this week when I'll have time. I'll keep you informed.

I've noticed this issue since T-Mobile updated mine to 4.4.2. However, I think I've figured out a workaround. I had checked APN, everything was fine. But, I use wi-fi most of the time. I couldn't receive any MMS, people would say they sent me stuff but I never got it, or I'd get a message that "can't be downloaded". So, when I was talking to a friend, I had him send me an MMS. I didn't get it. But, I turned off the Wi-Fi and suddenly the MMS appeared. We tested it over and over again. With wi-fi connected I can't receive MMS, as soon as wi-fi disconnects, the MMS are immediately downloaded. A big bug in the 4.4.2 I think.

I'm on ATT - not straight talk. Running ViperOne 5.7, which is a Sense 4.4.2 ROM. Group MMS stopped working seemingly out of nowhere. Have tried Hangouts, Stock Messages, and EvolveSMS. Played with APN settings, tried the wi-fi on/off trick, no luck. The strange thing that I have noticed is that every time I restart the device, it goes ahead and sends/receives all the MMS before going back to not working.
ST had me go into me browse (?) and delete the cache, cookies, etc. They apparently tell everyone that. Does not work. This makes no freaking sense!

[Q] VoLTE not working?

When traveling to Virginia this past weekend I was disappointed that when a call came through my Turbo, Waze popped up a message saying data was no longer available while on the phone. So when I saw this update I was excited. So I ran the update this morning and on my way to work I made a phone call and was running Waze simultaneously. The same pop-up arrived and I watched the 4G icon disappear from my screen.
So is the VoLTE supposed to be working already or is this an early roll out and the functionality is to come later?

VoLTE has to be activated both on the phone and through the VZW web interface (it's the HD calling option). It is turned off by default at this time so you have to actually login to the website and turn it on (or I guess you could call)...
Awesome! Thank you very much for that. I have now activated it and am waiting to to reboot and test.

How did the test go?

To those with excellent battery life

And updated play and push services
Did yall turn off volte and WiFi calling?
Yes
No
Hmm
Not sure
Lol. Most informative thread ever!
I turned off volte and Wi-Fi calling to avoid the cell stand by battery drain bug.
Not an informative thread it's a question
Oh so high cell radio active is normal?
No. It shouldn't be on your top 3 unless you unplug the phone and don't touch it for hours or if you're in an area with terrible reception
Yeah terrible signal here
volte on, wifi calling off, strong signal, good battery life
No idle drain?
about 10% overnight, over about 8 hours, so very acceptable, to me..
I can squeeze 1.5 days standby and 4.5 hours SOT with wifi calling & VoLTE disabled, a strong signal, Google Play Services 7.3.29 (440) and Samsung Push service disabled. Cell radio is not even on the list. I froze all bloatware and use Francisco Franco's Servicely app to restrict all user installed apps except root-enabled apps. Google Play Services still spends waaaay too much time hogging my CPU & connection. The last time I checked overnight drain it was <3%.
Can someone please shed some light on VoLTE? I thought it was a technology that goes beyond just "HD" voice, and that it allows you to send files while still on the call?

I don't care about connecting to the other person faster. Nor do I care all that much about HD voice. However, I do like to send files like photos to the other person while speaking with them. And from what I gather, volte allows you to talk while sending and receiving "other data" likes files. Is that right? If that's the case, I'd like to keep volte on because that comes in handy. If not, I'd prefer to turn it off and save battery.

Honestly, just google it and read for yourself. GSM carriers have been able to text or send messages and files while on a phone call for ages now, that's nothing new.

Advanced calling not working?

I can't get advanced calling to work. I go into settings, I click activate advanced calling, it tells me that advanced calling 1.0 is already activated on my line, then it says I need to completely turn the phone off and on, but when I do, there is no change. I go back I to settings and it shows again I need to activate it. What am I missing?

I remembered having this issue on my Sony Xperia with Verizon. You should check to see if it is enabled in your Verizon account settings online.

He said it was a setting on their side. I could hear him literally going line by line on everything and then finally he said shut it off and restart it and then the options opened up. He said it was something in their coding and settings that needed to be fixed. If it helps at all the guys name was Justin and he was a second level tech. He seemed pretty knowledgeable. Haven't called anyone with video but voice over Wi-Fi works (same with texting over wifi).

Google Messages Bug

Interesting thing going on with Messages.
I have my AT&T Sim in my Huawei Mate 20 X. My Pixel 4 XL is on beside me using WiFi. But I'm not using it. It's just on.
I texted my wife a minute ago using my Mate, but her replies come to my P4XL, even though it does not have a sim in it. I tried to respond to her text using the P4XL, but it won't send. So, I replied using the Mate. All of her responses come to the P4XL, not the Mate with the sim that my texts originate from. Weird.
Not really a bug, I guess. Just an interesting thing.
Same thing happens here
Even if I have no service (international) but connected to wifi I can make and send calls and text
You're probably using RCS, or something is stuck as though you're using RCS.

Turn off 'chat' features in messages.
Thanks, everybody. I turned off chat features and all is good. I wonder, though, why I could receive messages but not send???

Dunno. Theoretically it should work. I send and receive text messages (and calls) all the time with only a Wi-Fi signal, but I've never pulled my SIM to test it. Hand in hand with Wi-Fi calling, RCS is a great thing. Not sure why one would want to switch it off.

I agree. It's great.
I turned it off on the phone I'm not using. I have it enabled on my 20X, although, it doesn't work all the time. It gets stuck on "Connecting" a lot.
