Hi, I have got an i9000 with Cyanogenmod 10.1.3
Recently I lost ClockWorkmod and I cannot upgrade to newer versiones of Cyanogen anymore.
I think that I switched back to stock recovery mode by accident.
I am not sure if this happened playing with room manager or so.
Actually the phone is already rooted, so I suppose there should be some simple way to recover "recovery mode" from inside the phone. I do not know if it should be clockworkmod or there would be a better option.
Solutions I found at forums include use odin for rooting the phone, but the phone is already rooted.
I also tried to use apps as room manager to flash recovery again, but it did not work as it refused to install galaxysmtd clockworkmod. It suggest me to do it manually but I do not know hot to do it.
¿What would be de simplest way to get recovery mode back again?
I think there should be a simple app to do it or even using dd from terminal to flash it but I am not sure about de file I should flash and the target device.
Thanks,
txemi
I answer myself.
Recovery Tools - Flasher did what I needed.

Hi,
I really need some help as I began to get crazy about this.
I also have to mention it's my first time into Root/Mod/Custom/etc...
I Have a GT-I9000M (BELL) with Android 2.2 (version FROYO.UGJK4) Kernel 2.6.32.9
I successfully Rooted the phone with Superoneclic (Have Super User app in menu)
I Installed Rom Manager 3.0.0.0 Then authorized sudo when prompted to do it.
After that in the recovery menu of Rom Manager i've downloaded the Clockworkmod thing. (2.5.1.2)
I've tried to boot into clockworkmod but I got the standard Recovery Boot from Samsung instead. (tried to re-install rom manager to see if work but no)
I also tried to install it by using the update.zip version got here http://www.multiupload.com/5CUIK88JM0 and put it at the root of the internal sd.
Booted into the Samsung Recovery Boot and press apply Update.zip then i got
the following error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborded
(Tried Twice still nothing new)
The goal of all this is to install Darkys_v6.0_Gingerbread_Edition_Voodoo_signed seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091
What do I do wrong???? Help me please i'm tired of the Android Froyo version from Samsung+Bell
To get ClockWorkMod compatibility, you need to use ROM Manager to start them.
This way, Voodoo recognize it's CWM recovery, intercept the call to the update.zip and install Ext4 wrappers.
If the new version is not yet available in ROM, be patient
I found the recovery app doesn't work very well. I suggest installing a kernel with CWM , that's compatible with Bell hardware? via Odin and you're good to go. From recovery menu you can do anything, including a full backup.

You can find the thread called 'CFroot' at the android development section.
Download the correct version based on your current firmware and follow the instructions there. When you are done, your recovery would be 2e.

My only concern after had read cf-root post is that none of the zip package offer somethong for ugjk4

Sorry dude, the only solution would be to flash to an Eclair ROM (which by default has a 2e recovery) or flash Froyo which is supported by CFroot.
I have the same issue as well. Wanted to try Darky's v6.0 rom, however stucked in getting to CWM since I'm on 3e. I did look at CFRoot, but nothing stated for JK4.

This Might Work.... Although I Have A Different Phone (Cdma Hero), But Had A Similar Issue....
The Way I Was Able To Correct My Problem Was To Re-Install A Older Version Of "Rom Manager" (Let Me Know If You Have or Need A Older Version, I Keep'em All Now!! Lol!!
Also In "Rom Manager" I Would Try To Flash Alternate Recovery, And Then Clockwork Recovery Right After!! Make Sure It Says *Current Recovery* -And- *Latest Recovery* (Up At The Top) Then Try To Boot Into Recovery!!

Fresh Start
Ok well I got a good night of sleep so i'll resume where I am
I learned yesterday the following:
CMW: Clockworkmod
OCLF: One Clic Lag Fix
Now what I could try is to get back to Original Firmware of the GT-I9000M (Eclair) and from then what I've understood is that I don't need 2e recovery? Am I right?
From then I could install Darky without anything.
By going back this way will i'll stay root of will I have to root again?
If all this is right, how do i go back to eclair? can it be done via the 3e recovery menu or I have to flash? Is so I don't know anything about odin and the way it work so i'll need your help loll

here's what I did now:
Used Odin and Flashed my firmware to the previous one (2.1 Eclair.UGJH2)
Re-rooted
Re-installed Rom Manager
When in recovery mode i see 2e but it's the recovery from Samsung. Can't see the CWM......
Think i'm pretty close compared to yesterday from Darky 6.0 but STILL NEED CMW lolll
Fist timer Root and Flash never easy lolll
OK GUYS GOOD NEWS!!!!
Don't know what I did but CWM WORK NOW!!!!
What i've read somewhere is to never open the zip files (what i did). Got the idea of flushing them and download it again. This time it worked.
Gonna let you know when running Darky
----!!!!WORKING!!!!----
I Have Darky 6.0 Running on my Bell GT-I9000M!!!!!
First I want to thanx everyone of you who helped me out! You've been a great help.
Also I want to get the summary of my actions so Others could take advantage of this thread.
-Froyo version FROYO.UGJK4 (that is the official GT-I9000M update from BELL Mobility) was painfull to do anything so I downgraded to the eclair.UGJH2 (that is the Original Firmware from Bell)
First I've Rooted my phone using Superoneclic 1.5.5.0 that you can find here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 (enable debuging mode on the phone in Settings-applications-developpement-debuging) then plug the phone and on superoneclic press ROOT...wait and follow indications
Then went to ODIN 1.7 that you can find here
http://www.general-search.com/fileinfo/20192867
You can find the BELL 2.1 firmware
here http://www.multiupload.com/ZNBT2RY5Y0 Password is samsung-firmwares.com
In odin i've used the 512.pit file (place it in the Pit section)
Then placed the 2.1 Firmware in the PDA section.
Took care Repartition, auto-reboot, F.Reset Time check box was check.
Booted in download mode (to get it right with odin i've booted in recovery first: Vol Up+Home+Power when bootscreen appear released it. After Pressed on Reboot now and immediatly pressed Vol DOWN+HOME+Power) I GOT THE BIG YELLOW LOGO OF ANDROID and in ODIN i got the Yellow icon appeared.
At this moment I've pressed START in odin and waited. The phone was acting like when updating through Kies.
When finished I was on ECLAIR
After, I've Re-Rooted the phone with superoneclic again.
Installed Rom Manager
Downloaded the CMW (CLockworkmod) that you can find here:
http://www.multiupload.com/5CUIK88JM0 (DON'T OPEN THIS ZIP BECAUSE IT WILL BREAK THE SIGNATURE NEEDED TO VALIDATE THE FILE)
I've placed the update.zip file (CMW) at the root of the internal SD Card of the phone and rebooted into recovery mode. I went on the apply update.zip (first time it was not working, then second time it worked)
At this moment I was on Android 2.1, Rooted, and CWM Recovery was working.
To Install the Darky's v6.0 Gingerbread Edition, I've downloaded it here:
http://www.multiupload.com/YPQVS4WO9C (ONCE AGAIN DON'T OPEN THE ZIP)
I've placed it at the root of the phone (same place than update.zip)
Opened Rom Manager, and selected Install a Rom from SD Card.
I've selected the zip File and applied it.
Phone went into recovery mode by itself then started installing Darky. (took like 5 minutes but it is said to be between 5-10 minutes so...)
HURRAY I'M ON DARKY CUSTOM ROM!!!!
PS: (at boot screen GT-I9000M will change to GT-I9000), Boot Screen Animation will also change for the Nexus One Boot animation.
Took me a day and half from Noob to This but hope other Bell user (or SGS user) will find their solution here.
Now let me alone I have to play with my new toy lolll
Just got back home. I will follow your footsteps. Do you have 850 mhz band ?
You with Bell ? Any problem making and receiving calls using Darky's rom ?
Followed your steps. Now I'm running Darky's v6.0 rom.
Even if it's a Bell phone, i'm using it on rogers.
I don't have any band problems(yes i have the 850 band). In fact, since i'm on Darky it look like if the wifi and phone antenna is far better. I got reception in places i wasn't before...and can even say GPS lock my position accuratly in less than 10 sec
Everything is.better since darky run on my phone

Hey, can you please clarify the ODIN steps? I have the exact same problem seen here.
I've completed up until where you put the phone in download mode. I set up ODIN as described, then connected my phone via USB, then enetered Download mode - but I only get a yellow icon on the phone, not in ODIN. Have I gone wrong somewhere?
Hello all..
So I picekd up a t-mobile tab off craigslist yesterday, which was pre-rooted (no superuser though) and has the Roto JMI rom (if that's what it is) installed with the 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1 kernel.
Last night I tried rooting/installing CWM with the one click thing, run.bat or run.sh in my case since I'm on a mac. It wouldn't work and got stuck in a recovery loop. Every time I would boot, it would go straight to recovery. So I managed to get a data wipe done and now I'm back to the way it was before.
I rooted it with SimpleOneClick and it's rooted with superuser now. I've installed rom manager, tried to flash CWM, but when I do it just says successfully installed CWM.
When I try to boot to recovery, it just stops at the 'Galaxy Tab' loading screen. No stock recovery, no CWM, no nothing. The only way to get it out of this mode is to issue an ./adb reboot bootlaoder command. After I do that, it works fine. Can start up, shut down etc.
What did I do??? Is there any way to flash the recovery via adb push like I did the first time I rooted my phone? I can't seem to find the recovery to push to the phone, so yeah.. I'm confused here.
Thanks!!

Not sure about t-mobile tabs (I've heard they can be a bit tricky) but if you can install Modaco/paulobrian kernel (thread in the dev section) then that has a fully working CWM built in. Backups and restores work perfectly with this. The "official" one from koush (sp) is abandonware...

Excellent .
Hi,
We have a problem with an Optimus 2X.
1. We rooted the phone
2. Installed ClockworkMod recovery from ROM Manager (Flash recovery option). Successful window appeared.
3. We boot in recovery mode from ROM Manager.
The phone now hangs on boot at the LG Logo. There is no way to boot in recovery, and there is no way to do a normal boot. (Tried to boot with volumen down and lock buttons pressed, and without pressing volume down...)
It's like there was a flag that forces the phone to "boot in recovery" or something like that.
So we can't boot the phone in any mode...
We also tried smartflash, but nothing...
Any idea? How can we restore it?
Thank you very much in advance...
I would try the procedure at this link: add "http:" infront of my links, for some reason i'm not allowed to post outside links.
//android.modaco.com/content/lg-optimus-2x-2x-modaco-com/335474/25-mar-nvflash-stock-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15-03-2011/
It uses the nvidia flash tool and will allow you to flash a clean stock rom without booting up the device or going into clockwork.
The stock rom version that you can download on the link above will do fine. After you've flashed the stockrom you can reinstall clockworkmod. If I were you I would do that using these instructions:
//android.modaco.com/content/lg-optimus-2x-2x-modaco-com/335479/10-may-3-0-2-8-clockworkmod-recovery-for-the-lg-optimus-2x/
Basically all you need to do is attach the phone to the computer, make sure usb debugging is enabled and double click the install clockworkmod.bat file found in the extracted zip file downloaded from the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745
After that you should be able to flash all the custom roms you want. I hear the latest Cyanogen nightly is pretty stable!
I had the same problem and question a couple of days ago...
Mine also when trying to install CWM..
Follow this link and flash with NVflash and You should be good to go again
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15-03-2011/
I also gave up on the CWM flashing from PC and paid for this app in the market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.modaco.twoxrecoveryboot&feature=search_result
Its .99 pence so not to bad... remember You NEED ROOT for the CWM recovery flashy thingy
After all flashing I just went with the stock ROM with the 0606 upgraded baseband
Works ok now (flashed with smartflash)
The 0606 baseband ROM can be found here:
Happy unbricking!
Thank you very much to both!
NVflash did the trick and I could fix the full brick!
Now I don't fear anything... nvflash can resurrect it!! xD
Thank you very much!!!!!
THANK YOU SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH GUYS!!!!!!!!
i was messing about for about 5 hours because my apx driver didn't successfully install but i finally found one and got it to work.
i am so relieved. I can sleep easy tonight
once again a huge thanks.
I've successfully rooted my phone thanks to SuperOneClick, but am not able to figure out how to flash the recovery so that I can use ROM Manager.
I have a stock KB1 image, on an I897 Captivate from AT&T. I'm trying to get the recovery image (currently 3e) set so that I can bypass the signature check, which is what I keep running into.
I installed ROM Manager (the free one, at least until pay day) and tried to use that to flash CWM recovery. Every time I boot into recovery, I run into the confounded signature check.
I have a Superuser app installed from the Market, version 3.0.6(40) and su binary ver 2.3.1-ef.
I'm not typically a dunce, since I've been able to install and run a Linux server at home more than once. But this has got me stumped.
Please let me know what additional information I might need to provide to target guidance.
Read this. Please look at stickies and/or use the search function.
On a personal note, don't waste time on Rom Manager. Its trash for SGS line.
I hadn't seen that list previously. I spent 4 hours last night and three hours today reading stickies and stumbling through search results. That guide for fixing recovery might just be the answer I was looking for.
Is there a different "ROM manager" app that you recommend, or just bare-backing it (which I'm not afraid to do, either)?
Don't bother with it. IMO if you like stock froyo, I recommend just flashing Cognition 4.x.x. Based on KB2 stock looking, but tweaked for speed. CWM is easiest achieved by flashing a kernel with it baked in it.
to skip the recovery crap and rooting and everything else....
take phone out of box. (done)
download and run odin3 flashing util 1.8x Odin3v1.85.zip
boot phone into download mode
flash ginberbread bootloaders http://www.multiupload.com/QQ3LFSRBMD
reboot into download mode
flash custom kernel with CWM built-in pick one in dev section. ANY NOT miui/cm7 kernel in dev section.
reboot into recovery (cwm now!!)
mounts / usb/ copy rom to phone (if not on sdcard already can be done any time before)
cwm flash rom.
** cwm2 kernel for eclair/froyo roms & cwm3/4/5 kernel for gingerbread up
If you goal is to flash a new rom then TRusselo is right. Easier to just flash a kernel with CWM.
Rooted via super 1click and was unable to get clockwork recovery to load said it flashed but would only boot default recovery, soft bricked it 3 times then straight busted it getting the forced upload key press thing had to use USB jig to get download then used Odin to repair firmware some how 3g got switched off. Anyone got any ideas on how to switch back on my guess is key pad access but don't know the code amorphous smart apn from market but don't have the phone yet to try it my friend is gonna bring it this weekend just wanted to find out the best way to switch it back on before I get it back because grs gonna be there this time and I don't want to make him nervous or have him think I'm gonba mess up his phone
Sent from my Evo Running CM7
Stop flashing and read the stickies. If you tried using rom manager or update.zip it wont work unless you fix the 3e recovery issue. Its easier to flash a kernel with CWM baked in to it. For example if you are on froyo Cognition 4.x.x (search for it) kernel should work just fine.
Hi there, after rooting my phone with the "DoomLord's via Zergrush Exploit" , and after installing rom manager and flashing clockworkmod. I just can't access it.
If I load into the bootloader and click recovery, I get an image with a ! sign and a picture of an android, the same happens when I load recovery through rom manager. I have flashed the recovery twice now and my phone's just not having it. My phone works no problem, I just dont understand it
All I want to do is to make a backup and install a custom rom
Am I doing somthing wrong?
(Yes, my bootloader is locked BTW)
Very simple - you didn't flash the recovery properly, so you're getting to stock recovery.
Yup like Jack_R1 stated, the flash didn't stick or you didn't do it right.
Open Rom Manager, at the top it will tell you what recovery you have.
Does it show anything?
You could also try adb if you have that setup
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide#Installing_a_Custom_Recovery_Image
You could even install it via terminal on your phone
Heck try this recovery, it's good
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1291970
Try THIS. Install the application and it will install the best recovery
Rom manager tells me that i have clockworkmod 5.0.2.0
I'll try installing the recovery through terminal when i get back to my pc
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
EDIT: Having seen the other recovery you've stated, i'll try and install that.
Also, does it matter about which version of android i'm running? could that result of a bad install of the recovery through clockworkmod?
Its 2.3.4 stock rom if anyone's intrested
FINAL EDIT:
Thank you!
4EXT flashed perfectly, after using the app to reboot into the bootloader, it loaded up that. Many thanks!
