3 days ago i flashed my sgs with Ultibread v1.3
Today i decided to flash back 2.2.1 firmware, but all of my 3 computers (10 usb ports) couldn't recognize my phone.
Try to search any solve of this problem, but no one tutorial has not helped.
What did i do?
uninstall all of samsung usb drivers
clean register of all garbage with "samsung"
reboot my computer 3 times
download latest samsung usb drivers v1.3.2000.0 (25.jan.2011)
get out battery for 15 minutes
try plug in other usb port
take computer, wich never connected my phone, install latest drivers (see previous step) and connect sgs to him...
In all cases, the result is one: Unknown USB Device.
System can load and "debug mode" switched on.
Please, help me...
My PC forgets my SGS on a regular basis. When I plug the USB into my phone it is usually a good 50/50 if it recognizes it.
I have found the best way to deal with it is to reboot the phone while it is still connected by USB to the PC. When the phone comes back up with the USB connected, the PC always discovers it right away.
Also avoid connected through a USB hub if possible, that always gives me trouble.
Omg! Solved.
Ultibread v1.3 and, maybe, 1.4 got issue with check in debug usb mode.
And without this check - windows can't recognize phone.
Solution:
turn on debug usb mode in settings, then put out battery when phone is ON.
Then you can get in download mode.

Hi,
I was using F1 V6 ROM on JVK for some time (flashed it with no problems using Odin and Clockwork). After some time, it started to crash more often. I triend V7 but it was even worse so I got back to V6. The only problem was often restarts and sometimes slow operation.
Yesterday I decided to switch to Cyanogen to give it a try. I did it without flashing from scratch. I just used Cyanogen 7.1 installation through Clockwork. It seemed OK untill I tried to connect my phone to PC via USB. I couldn't get any response from PC (not even a sound indicating that something was connected to USB) or Phone (no mount USB screen).
So I was able to charge my phone through USB but not to connect it to PC (tried 2 PCs, different cables, different ports). It doesn't seem like driver problem (no sign of connecting phone to PC, nothing).
I thought that it might be some problem with Cyanogen ROM. So I tried to go back to F1 V6 (wipe) through Clockwork. After doing it, I got boot loop but still showing the logo of Cyanogen (not SGSII from F1). Having no USB connection and being unable to start the phone, I tried to do recovery (I had a backup of F1 V6 from the moment before installing Cyanogen. That didn't go well either. The process stopped and left me with Samsung Galaxy S logo (no boot loop - just hanging there). I cant get into recovery mode anymore. I can only get to download mode.
So the status right now is:
Download mode - OK
USB - can't get phone to connect with PC (no signs of connection so probably not a driver problem but maybe? I tried reinstalling kies, drivers, running Odin, no sign of connected phone, USBDeview shows no Samsung or Kies or Android drivers in my system right now).
Hanging on the Samsung Galaxy S screen.
Did anyone had similar situation?
What do you advice? Any idea on a atest checking if USB hardware is fine?
Was it possible to break USB hardware or driver in phone by installing Cyanogen 7.1 on F1 V6 SGS2?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Cyanogen uses a different file system, so to get it back to a Sammy ROM you need to flash it with Odin. and cyanogen doesn't use the Sammy driver for connecting to the PC. download nexus s drivers from the Android SDK and install it.

OK, so how do I install these drivers when my PC can't see that I have my phone connected to USB port? There is no driver error. After connection nothing happens.
Is there a way to install these drivers on Windows 7 without actually having sgs listed on device list?
any help with that?

Get your phone into download mode (volume down + home + power) and see if windows lists it then.

Reflash the CM7 Rom, and see if it shows up in device manager. Do you get an option on CM to share disc drives with usb plugged to the computer?
Oh, and if you have KIES installed, try remove it and remove the driver pack too (i know it affects ODIN's ability to see the phone).
Solved
Thanks for help.
I got different cable (third) and different (third) PC and somehow it worked - PC noticed connection of SGS in download mode and than it was easy.
I installed clean JVT, than CF-Root and CM 7.1 + google apps.
It seems to work fine for now.

Hello, my Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9003 was working fine yesterday, but now it stays stuck on the samsung logo when booting. I'm trying to flash it, the thing is, I can't get my computer to detect my phone, it shows up as an unkown device. I tried a factory reboot etc.. didn't work, and I can't even use it as a mass storage device since it's bricked. I used all the newest drivers, the newest version of kies but it still doesn't work.
I'm on windows 7/64 bit btw.
Thank you in advance.
Are you able to enter into download mode? (hold volume down + home + power)
If not, You can try to make (or buy) a JIG which will force download mode and you can flash a new ROM with Odin
Regards
I can enter in download mode, the thing is, my computer detects my phone as an "unknown device" and it isn't recognised by Odin either, which means I can't flash it.
are you sure the drivers are installed correctly? I recently had problems with the USB cable.. try another one and if possible, other PC....
I installed many times the drivers, using kies or without kies, the result is just the same, maybe it's the cable.
Try to change the cable and the USB port. Last week I tried to update a Motorola Atrix and the same thing happened, unknown device. Then I changed the USB Cable and voila... worked !
Let me know if it works....
Regards
just wondering if you have resolved this yet ? I have same problem tried all usb drivers i can find , 5 different computers , jig , odin still not detect and windows show unknown device detected.

Guys I had the same problem. After trying many pc, drivers, cables combinations I came to a conclusion that the usb port on the phone itself must be damaged. After taking a close look, I saw some of the gold contacts damaged/missing.. That might be the case with your phone aswell. Look at the pins and if yo usee some visual damage you know what the problem is. Even if you dont see it, it still might be a problem.
Hello guys.
I got a galaxy s (GT-I9000) from someone, so don't know what theyve been doing with it. Anyway, when I try to turn the phone ON, either it goes to the cyanogen mod splashscreen and reboots, and does that on a loop. Or it simply doesnt turn on. I cannot get into recovery mode, however I can get into download mode. I usually have to pull the battery a few times before I can either turn it on or get into download mode. Yesterday, when I plugged it in USB while OFF, no indication of charging (atleast visual) on screen was visible. Today, I plugged it in USB while phone was OFF and the battery indicator is seen, but battery si empty and only white "cirsle" is on middle, doing nothing. It stays that way for about 20-30 seconds, then the screen goes black, and only the white circle thingy is seen for a few seconds, then goes back to battery with that circle.
Anyway, when I got it in download mode a few times, I tried to plug it in PC to do something with ODIN, but it doesnt detect it. Windows says "USB Device Not Recognized" with the yellow triangle. I searched threads here and on google, and tried all I could think of.
So, I tried to reinstall drivers atleast 3 times, rebooting the PC in the process, cleaning the registry each time. Tried all of my 6 USB ports on PC. Tried 2 USB cables.
I had a galaxy s before, and setup on my PC was fine (so the drivers, cables, usb ports) were all OK, I could use odin and all. Thats why I dont think the problem is on my PC, or I must be missing something.
I have win7 x64 for the record.
I would just like to get this phone to work, any suggestions?

as far as I know
I will probobly try to get phone recognized by odin on a win XP pc today or tommo. IF that wont work, I read about something that JTAG could help me.. Can anyone confirm?
I'm having exactly the same problem actually. My son's S1 was running an old version of DarkyROM (back from when it was mine) and it got a bit messy so I decided to run it up to a CM9 nightly. Ran the Heimdall stuff as per instruction, got CM9 up and running but hosed it when I tried to flash the Google Apps package. From thereonin, formats and clearing everything leaves it upbootable but recovery and download are easily accessible. Odin just doesn't see it though.
Cause?
---------- Post added at 02:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:45 PM ----------
Oh yes, I might add that I can still mount by USB and upload ROMs etc. however trying to reinstall CM9 now gives me a Status 7 error and kicks me out. Grr.

Possibly solved. Go here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/41704-cant-install-cwm-recovery-on-my-rooted-galaxy-s2/
Heimdall seems a little picky, so if it throws up an error when everything seems fine then run zadig.exe in the /drivers folder of the Heimdall install, Options > List All Drivers, select Samsung USB Composite device in the dropdown and Install/Replace the driver. Do this in download mode. Then use the Heimdall frontend to push the stock ROM to your phone as per that link.
Yep. Just checked. Phone now booting. Give me a shout and I'll help you do exactly what I did.
I can now confirm that the PC setup, drivers, cable and pc usb ports are all fine. Had another GT-I9000 from a friend and odin connected instantly, could flash stuff no problem.
So on my GT-I9000 something else must be the problem. Can anyone give me another option or is the JTAG my only option?
So when I turn the phone ON, "GALAXY S CyanogenMod" appears and loops... I cant get into recovery using VOL+ ; power ; menu (or any other button combo, must have tried everything) but I can get into download using VOL- ; power ; menu... But if I connect phone to PC, odin dont see it and windows says "USB Device Not Recognized".
I've heard of people getting connected with nexus drivers, who knows what was on the phone before right.?

When you press volume down + Home button + power on then you get the Download screen on the phone. However, that does not allow Odin to detect the phone and make the COM box turn yellow. You also need to press the volume up in order to activate the Download mode and turn the COM box yellow.
OKAY I have an update!!
I sent the phone to be JTAG(ged). I have no idea what they did, but the phone boots up now! I can use it normal, I can go to stock recovery or to download mode.
However, I have a new problem now. I cant connect the phone to PC with usb cable, it doesnt detect it. The phone makes the "sound" when I connect the usb cable, battery icon gets that electricity power icon, so it chatges, but on windows I get "USB device not recognized" with yellow triangle.
I tried it with USB debugging on AND off, I tried all 3 modes in usb settings (mass storage, kies, media player) and always same result.
Tried to connect while in download mode, even pressed volume up while connected (once tried to hold vol up, made no difference). Odin dont detect it, and windows says "USB device not recognized" with yellow triangle.
What could be the issue here? What else can I try? I will point out that PC setup should be fine (tried another I9000 from a friend worked no problem) but just in case, I will uninstall drivers, wipe registry, install new drivers, try every usb port and 2 usb cables to try to get it connected.
Any ideas?

Your computer does not recognize the phone at all when you connect it via USB???
Does your phone start loading the battery when you connect it to the USB cable?

If the phone is powered off and i plug it in it starts directly into a boot loop, and i get 'usb device not recognised'
the only way to shut the phone off is to pull the battery
thanks
Ok when you are in a bootloop, the computer can not recognize the phone. This is only possible in the normal operation mode or on the download mode.
Did you ever try to come into download mode without the USB cable connected?
I mad a jig and can use it to get into download mode, but still get 'usb device notrecognized'
Thanks
Have you tried using another computer or reinstall Windows 7 to your computer when connecting? While Windows 8 should support 95-99% of devices with old derives, the legacy support is never perfect with new OS.
