You can actually use the capacitive menu key on your Droid 3 as if it was a CTRL key. I use it all the time to copy and paste on T-Mobile G2 and now my Droid 3.
Nobody ever mentions and I thought I should make this more known to people.
In a previous thread, someone was complaining about not having a hardware c&p. Great find!

Interesting, how would you do this on a cell phone? Is it used when entering text in messages? Thanks.
What is copy? CTRL+V is paste, but CTRL+C does not seem to copy. Also CTRL+A only highlights momentarily, what am I missing?
crtl c copies just fine. I use shift and then the arrow keys to select text just like on a real keyboard.
I already knew about this since...I started using the OG Droid. I just assumed it served the same function on the Droid 3, and it does! Very handy when I need to search a web page. Menu+f FTW.
Thanks for sharing though.

You can do menu+a+c - bit tricky, but works.

It would take some getting used to but definitely a cool easter egg. Since this is my first android phone I would have had no way of knowing. Unless it's in the manual but I never read those lol
This works on Droid 2 Global too! Thank you very much, this makes my life so much easier!

I'm glad you guys found this useful. The Droid keyboard makes it worthwhile especially with the shift and arrow keys. I just wish the question mark wasn't an alt key.

Yeah the keyboard as a whole was created more for web browsing/emails vs. regular text and messaging. i've never had the @ button as its own button, but i suppose i'll get used to it. plus it makes for fast tweeting too
You have just made me more eficient
Very nice. Shift-arrows to highlight then menu c,x to cut and copy munu-v to paste etc. Tested with my signature.

It's the icon with the 4 squares at the bottom left corner (in portrait mode) of the phone. Press that plus the c or v key on the keyboard simultaneously.
This is the best damned thing ever - I've been wanting this functionality ever since I first used a smartphone, and here it is.
Seems Seems Seems Seems to work on my Evo Shift
Edit: running latest CM nightly

I find that the back and home buttons on my phone are not consistently illuminated in darker environments. Is there a setting somewhere I missed?

The volume rocker annoys me, it is does not stay properly at its place. Does your Moto X suffer the same problem?

My first x had loose volume rocker and power button. My second one is perfect, no wiggle at all.

Do you think I should ship it back and get the developer edition?

Which version do you have? Did you post full price or do a 2 year?

I have At&T version 32 GB from motomaker, full price

I would probably say yes if you are wanting to unlock the bootloader. Also if you don't mind the black front with the white back that the Dev edition has I'd say go for it.

No issue here with my buttons, nice and tight.

Hi, so I notice the power button has a bit of sideways movement
Brand new phone. Is that normal?
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
It is, at least mine is wobbly too, does not effect it's function though.
I guess it's due to the waterproof membrane between the metal cover and the mechanical switch underneath.
That's close to my guess too. I'm a very picky ocd kind of guy. Now I fee better, thanks.
