Sometimes no sound when being called. Please help

I got a strange problem here. Sometimes (not really reproducable and I recognize no scheme) when I am called and receive the call I do not hear a single thing until I press one of the volume keys at the side. But the caller understands me fine. I got an original HTC device and had this problem with 1.37 and also with 1.93 official ROM now but it seems to be less often with the new Rom.
Friend of mine who also played with the thought to get the Diamond told me he read that on various boards, but I never heard of that problem from anybody else.
Guy at service told me it could be my sim card, because its that old (i got the same sim card for about seven years now) - but he also told me you should get a new sim every six months, so... kinda sounds like crap to me.
ANYONE experiencing similar problems? THANKS

My Diamond dont ring either... so I had to use vibrate so I could atleast feel it

No i don't mean ringing. I Mean sound from the internal ear speakers.

Mine does exactly the same!
The caller can hear me fine but I cannot hear them talking to me.
The only way to hear them is to put it on external speaker.
I wonder what the problem is?

Well its not with all calls. Mostly it only happens when Mum is calling well maybe its not that bad
No, but I can hear them after I press volume keys. I am getting a new sim card from my operator these days, hope this will fix it.

If it's possible that you touch the "MUTE" on screen during the call?

if you Mute the call it should be the other way round, you can hear them, yet they cant hear you

im getting the same problem, except mine is for outgoing calls as well. It seems to be intermittent, The only way it fixes is by waiting for about a min fiddling with mute and speaker function. I have noticed the phone audio works fine i.e. system tones and also music but its just you can hear anyone when making or receiving calls for some reason, but they can hear you?
I think its software related as I was running stock rom for about 3 weeks when I had my Diamond and nothing of this type was seen, only once i started upgrading???????/

My HTC One has extremely low in call volume from the mic. I can hear the person I am calling or who called me fine but they can't hear me or barely able to hear me. I downloaded a sound recorder app and when I talk into the mic in that app it plays back at a reasonable volume. Would a different radio file fix this problem?

I had this issue with my One X for awhile, come to find out, there was lint stuffed up in the mic hole.. Check that first.

I am having the same problem. when I am in call, if i switch to speaker phone it instantly becomes loud clear. I am going to RUU back to stock GPE or stock Sense to see if it fixes the problem.
Ill report back to you if it does.

I have the same problem with my replacement phone. I'm sending it back to TMO for another. From what I've read it seems like a hardware issue related to the noise cancelling microphone.

My nexus 5 arrives tomorrow. Once I have that in hand, I am going to fully wipe my HTC One, RUU back to stock and S ON the phone to be sent back to HTC for a replacement. I will test the microphone before sending it back to see if the full RUU fixes it but I doubt it will.
I flashed several diff firmwares, h boots, kernels, roms etc on the phone and none of them had an effect of the mic. The microphone problem appeared out of no where when I was running a rom and kernel combination that previously had no issues. In other words, I changed nothing and the problem arose. No combination of software changes yielded any improvement in my limited testing. I am quite sure this is not a solvable problem as it is hardware related and that you should likely send your phone in for a replacement.

[Q] Sounds issue

On my HTC One running CM-11-20140220-NIGHTLY I can not hear a lot of sounds.
I am unable to listen to notification sounds and ringtones when I go to select them which I used to be able to do before I updated to one of the nightlies.
When my phone is awake I sometimes receive notification sounds like I normally should but when my phone is asleep I never receive them.
I never hear the ringtone when I am receiving a phone call.
I have tried everything that I can think of to fix this issue but I am just at a loss.
It has not just recently happened. It has been happening for the past 6 or 7 updates, the reason I didn't post sooner is because I was hoping that it would have been fixed by now. I'd like to know if this is a common issue or if it is just happening to me. Sound works just fine on my phone so I know it's not my speakers. When I play music etc. it plays just fine. It's only ringtones and Notification sounds.

excuse the inconvenience, I tell you that happens with my HTC ONE M7, buy you in the usa, and they brought him 8 days ago, soon as I turned it on, updated 4 times until it became KIT KAT version 4.4.2 android and SENSE 6.0, version software 5.11.1540.9, ok all well, but detecto sounding when I call sometimes and sometimes not, various contacts with the HTCAnd none gave the key, even I did reset of factory and still the same, sometimes sounds sometimes does not sound. Needless to say that I have tried all possible sound settings, the strange thing is this: all notices, messages, emails, whatsapp, etc, sound correctly with the ringers that I choose, never failed, call me my HTC, it occurred to me to put the headphones (beats) and others, and sounds by the auri and speaker phone (very rare)then I tried calling and if not it sounded, I plugged the headphones and pulled them, and there began to sound from speaker of the htc. If I play music, it sounds like it should be. Now I don't really know that it is wrong, sometimes sounds and sometimes not, Thank you and I hope your answer.

Somebody help me? Please....

If on stock rom,send it to be fixed,sounds like headphones jack is malfunctioning

Thanks, but recently I find they do not sound the calls, when plugged the light sensor and proximity, if I plug a finger, not sound, if left uncovered, if it sounds also sound all notifications, thanks, but not how to fix it, I have android 4.4.3 and sense 6.0, thanks.

Thats hardware issues,no way to fix,youve done factory reset,issue was not resolved.Your description of things not working point to hardware issues...The fix will be an rma to htc for replacement

Atrix HD audio problem

I have been using Atrix HD MB886 -unlocked- in India for nearly an year now
But Since CM11 M7 build - i have been facing wierd battery drain and problems with Audio(earpiece,speaker and headset)
I then flashed factory image
MB886_att-user-4.1.1-9.8.0Q-97_MB886
and also got updated to
98.4.20.MB886.ATT.en.US (latest OTA)
But the audio problem is still there
Ever since, the speaker sound and all the system sounds, including ringtones, call volume, etc go off by themselves randomly, so I can't hear anything when the phone rings, If by chance I pick up a call while in this state, I can't hear a word the person on the other side utters, but that person does hear me clearly.
Restarting the phone,the sound works perfectly, until for some unknown reason it goes off, and I have to repeat the whole process.
Reading through forums on the web, some people who have had the same problems report improvements and some very few even report having obtained solution to this persisting issue after installing the app "SoundAbout" from google play store. But no use for me.
I have tried nearly all ROMS for Atrix by now - but no relief.
Any fixes., ????!!!!!

im having the exact same problem with my atrix. Tried multiple roms incuding flashing back to stock. I assumed it was a hardware issue but restarting the phone fixes it. Iv also noticed sometimes the sound comes back by itself after a while, even without a reboot. I played songs with the audio muted for a continuous 8hrs and the sound was fine all the while. Anyone else have the same issue or possible reasons what might be causing this..???

HW problem
Hi, this is most likely a hardware issue.
I had same problem sometimes. When I hit the phone, at the top (not furiously), it started working again.
Most likely loose connection with speaker terminals.
you can open it and pull the speaker connectors.
