Hi everyone!
I believe my problem was caused by a drop or two of red wine on the phone.
I cannot hear or speak normally, in a phone call, but strangely it works on loudspeaker and on headphones.
I did try several times to factory reset it, nothing changes.
It doesn't go neither on Download or Recovery mode.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Try to charge the phone, to test whether it is just out of battery only, but if charged and u still cant get into download or recovery mode then the problem might be big.

Hi,
My phone is flashed with Darky 7.8
Recently, my phone has become stuck in landscape mode. When I dial into Test Mode, the accelerometer correctly identifies the phones orientation.
Another odd behavior I am having is that whenever I start a call it starts on speaker phone.
This is leading me to believe I have my phone in some kind of Car Mode, or Headset Mode or something. I have no idea, but I can't turn it off....
Anyone know what might be happening?
Thanks
Mitch
Bump. Has anyone experienced this problem?
It is very bizzare.... :S
Hi,
I'm experimenting the same weird behaviour! But the worst thing is that no matter which ROM I flash, even with a stock one, the phone eventually will get stuck on landscape mode. I say eventually, because when I wipe user data from clock recovery the problem is fixed temporarily. Also, I have the same problem with the calls going to the phone speaker. Have you been able to solve it m1tch37??
I have the same problem with phone stuck in landscape and phone starts on speaker. I didn't flash the phone, just wipe data and factory reset, but still the same behavior. In plus USB connection seems to not working.
Anybody, any idea?
... bump
Also experiencing this and tried uninstalling various applications to no avail. Also noticed that the USB connection isn't working (can't mount with USB debugging set both on and off).
Really annoying because you have to switch the way you've trained using this phone.
bump..
nobody has managed to fix this issue.. i tried checking if the sensor is ok and it shows fine, i have stock leaked gingerbread but it does the same on froyo as well. is this a hardware issue???
Guys I've been through this problem but the solution is very simple
just deassemble your device and clean it from inside with a special liquid.
I did it and it worked fine.

the kernel is ok, i think it has something with its charging port because it does not connect to pc, only charges of it.
it happened to me accidentally flash the wrong kernel. So wen I flash the one everything goes ok. Why not try it maybe same will do.
solution
Solved my problem by taking apart the phone and cleaning usb port connections

Galaxy S does not power on, nor boot, stays like dead phone.
I tested the battery also in other Galaxy S Phone and it is ok, the other phone worked fine.
i tried putting other battery in my phone and same thing. no life.
i tried for power on.
i tried download mode.
i tried recovery mode,
nothing works.
this situation happened due to,... i was trying to flash stock rom for my phone by odin3 and all went fine (with the "s1_odin_20100512.pit" file), the set rebooted but after that.
it never started.
please help.....
Well it sounds dead but...
Do you get any port connection when you go through the motions of download mode in odin? Saw something about sometimes the screen driver gets screwed.
Have you left the battery out for a while and then tried again (I've seen 15 minutes suggested)?
Otherwise there seems to be a JTAG method that is a deep hardware recovery (specialized shops and equipment) you could find a shop near you or that you could look into (google it).
G
if theres no way you can get to the download method on your own i suggest you try the jig method already on the internet if not there are many websites that fix the brick for a fee :/ sorry to hear bout ur situation
Yes sorry jig method definitely before jtag.

Thank you guys for your quick responses, but i think it's definitely the JIG method that is my last chance to recover my phone... I tried already to pull out the battery for 15mns, but nothing works. Will keep you informed.
You tried to connect it to your PC? maybe you can resuscitate it by sending some adb commands.
Please i need help with my samsung captivate, i've gone through various post and thread in all forum pertaining 2 soft brick or hard brick. What were you doing before it bricked? ie. Were you flashing something, using it to hammer nails, or mixed it up for soap in the shower?

I wanted to install cm-9-20120804-NIGHTLY-captivatemtd on the device. Actual the installation was successful then when i was trying to restore my backup. it now stoped in d process of installing boot sector. after which remove the battery to start again. that was when it started showing that. actuall when i press power to on it doesn't respond but it only show the display when i plug my charger or usb to computer.
I had exactly the same problem. Use a program called one-click unbrick, that will get your phone back into download mode. After that you can use odin to restore stock. Watch out though, I was very happy when this all worked and I booted into stock only to find out that restarting the phone would brick my phone even worse than it was before. Now the computer wont even pick it up at all and it is stuck in a white at&t bootloop screen when I turn it on. When it is plugged in, all I get is a grey battery that isnt charging and it will not go into download mode. I don't know what I did wrong so I cant tell you how to prevent this problem so just be careful.
A jig would likely be your best option to force your phone in download mode.
If you haven't tried it already, try flashing a stock rom using Heimdall. I've had much better luck using that program than Odin with my own phone.

droy... The problem you're describing is exactly what happened to the first cappy I had, fortunately for me, I did it within a week of getting the phone.... I took it to an AT&T service center *aaack*, they were nice enough to tell me that there was nothing they could do and that I should be able to get it sent back in. Fortunately for me, it was right around the time when the 2.3.5 stock update came out and there were a few other people that were having somewhat similar problems. To try and fix it, I tried the jig, which I constructed myself only, ran the meter tests and found out that it didn't work after trying 3 different ones. I sent it back and got another, fortunately, I haven't ran into the issue again, so I think it may just be some kind of fault on the board given that I've never read of anyone else until now running into the problem
Thanks youall, gr8 help
Hi, I read some earlier posts about same problem as mine but they all failed ad changing boot loader or something else, but my situation is different.
I was chatting with friend on whatsapp nothing unusually battery was at 35% (btw I recently installed swapper maybe this has something with problem) and phone get freeze, I wait a little and I notice it is not working at all, I waited another 1 min and tryed to pull out battery but before I done that phone turned off itself, and I tryed to turn it on again but phone won't turn on, nothing shows on display, I tryed to put it in recovery mode, download mode nothing, I tryed to connect it on charger and pc with and without battery still nothing...
Did time came to spend a few bucks to repair it or this is just software fault ?

P.S. I recently installed cyanogen mod Smoothie V2 and CWM5504-CM9-recovery.
It was working almost as perfect except some short freezing when web browsing.

You could try to use a JIG. It will force the device to boot in download mode and them you can try to flash with Odin
You can find a guide here: http://www.google.de/url?sa=t&sourc...94HoAw&usg=AFQjCNHbzGIi_e55lP8M8jFMmcqpKCtkxw

First I want to apologize if this issue is already treated in the forum, my English is not so good and I don't know how to find it. I will appreciate if someone can help me to fix the problem or to find the right thread.
The phone was working normally, battery was fully charged, then it started to change the bright of the screen and suddenly the battery was low. Some seconds after that the phone turned off and it does not start again. When I try Samsung Galaxy Note logo appears and then it turns off again. If I try recovery mode it doesn't start but I can put it in download mode if the phone is charging. (If not, a no battery message appears). Anyway, I cannot backup and I cannot use the phone. Android version was up to date and the phone was rooted. I would like to backup it if possible but if not I would like to tray a hard reset, but I cannot do this without recovery mode...
Thanks
You could start with trying a different battery.

I will try this, I get the battery in 2-3 days. If not I will tell in order to try other solutions. Thanks
I think the problem is the battery, too.
It was the battery, with a new one works fine.
