Thanks, didn't know that. That's the Rogers phone?
I do kinda want 32 GB. How much free space on the 16GB model?

Er, I heard the Rogers version doesn't support AWS, is that true? The whole point of the Dev Edition to me is the lack of branding and pentaband 3G/HSPA as I will be on Wind Mobile (no LTE available). So I kinda of DO need the Dev Edition.

The Rogers version does support AWS with LTE, but not HSPA(which is what you want for Wind) You need the dev edition or tmobile/retail edition if you want to use it with Wind.

Hi! Sorry for digging up an old thread but I'd like to know If you ended up purchasing the developer edition and if it truly is compatible with Wind Mobile. I'm currently in the same situation you were and I can't believe how much confusion there is over the different variants of Moto X available. All the data I've seen suggests the T-mobile and GSM Developer Edition are essentially the same phones with the same pentaband support but every social board I've come across has someone claiming they are not. I trusted my research however and recently jumped on an opportunity to purchase a brand new unopened Developer Edition Moto X for a great deal off ebay only to come across yet another contradicting post but this time on a Canadian board with respect to Wind specifically and now I'm very worried. Can you please confirm the Moto X GSM Developer Edition's compatibility with Wind Mobile?
Thanks
Also, FYI the model number on the box reads 00337NADEV which is what's listed on Motorola's specs sheet for AT&T/T-mobile's GSM Developer Edition while the FCC ID is IHDT56PA2 which corresponds to the XT1053 variant so hopefully everything works out (fingers crossed)

Yes I did, and yes it is! I've had it (XT1053 GSM Dev Edition) for 7 months now, and I use Wind data daily. It works very well. I can even get data at certain spots in the subway (near entrances and at above-ground stations).

I know what you mean. I was in the same situation 7 months ago and I probably even read that same board. I bet that whoever said data didn't work forgot to configure the APN settings. I was without data for almost the entire first day with my X until I realized I had to input the APN settings myself.
I can't confirm or deny the numbers on the box (I lost the box), but it sounds like you did your research well. Unless the eBay seller was deliberately lying to you, you should be good. Congrats on your purchase and don't forget to get a nano SIM! (I got mine for $10 from a Wind retailer.)
Sorry, can't help. Ended up buying Nexus 5. I wish I was in Wind's service area but am not so never looked into that.

That's great news! Thanks I'll be sure to check the APN settings also. Hopefully this thread clears up the situation for anyone else. I've been eyeing this device for a long time very excited to finally have one. How are the data speeds on Wind? I read they just recently finished upgrading all their towers to the HSPA+ standard and are now working on rolling out dual carrier HSPA+ also . Will be interesting to see how it fairs against Rogers 3G network once I get the phone and how well the Moto X's antenna can pick up Wind's signals

Bummer. The nexus 5 seems like a great device though was seriously considering it but touchless control and active display features of the moto x won me over.
Don't expect LTE speeds obviously, but they are fast enough for everything I do and I never worry about speeds. That includes streaming YouTube and music on my commute.
Anyway, i just did 5 speed tests standing in the same spot. The server was a bigger factor than the network I found. From top to bottom: Start, Teksavvy, Vmedia, Zero fail, Zero fail. All servers were listed as 14km away in "Toronto". I'm pretty sure this app is just computing the distance to downtown and not the actual server...

Hi all. If I purchase one of Moto X Sprint, ATT, Verizon
version, can I use it on our Europe network regarding
SIM lock?
Sorry I'm rookie about Moto X, I use so far other Moto Droid2 and Droid4 only.
Att you have to Sim unlock but its pretty easy to find some place online to do it for $10-15
The verizon and t mobile ones come unlocked.
Sprint and us cellular ones I think you have to be a customer to unlock so not easy to do.
You could also get some of the pre unlocked Latin ones.

I bought the Moto X one or two weeks after it was launched, I'm in Egypt it was sim unlocked however I know that all carriers except ATT and maybe Sprint can be officially unlocked.
I rooted it installed several firmwares, now I'm using ATT 4.4 leak, It's perfect.
Our N/W here is GSM same like Europe.

Surely you just check the bands on the network your trying to use it on. Look up your networks bands.
I checked before I bought, 2100 is supported by the phone and I'm using 2100 without issue.

Hi there, I'm posting here because it's nearly the same question but I'd like to be as sure as possible
I'm looking for this device, 'cause I really like it! The problem is that I live in Italy, and, as everyone, I want to be sure it will work here!
Reading other topics, I've seen that it all depend on the band it's used in my country.
As you che see here (http ://allworldcellphones.com/gsm-frequencies-list. htm), Italy use the GSM 900/1800 frequancies and it should be fine for this phone (or am I wrong?).
Now, if so, what does it actually means? If the frequencies match, does it means that I'll be able to call, send sms, use 2G/3G/4G or there are more parameters I need to check?
And second question: I really like the Moto Make idea! Is there any way to personalize my device and get it shipped to me? Because, if I'm not wrong, Motorola only ships to USA..
Thanks for reading (and, possibly, helping) and sorry for horror typo!

Sprint doesn't have 900 3G band used in Europe, only ATT has band 7 4G, all other models don't get 4G in Europe, only 3G. Check, not sure if I am right here. My GS4 has all 3G and 4G bands for USA T-Mobile and Europe

GSM 900/1800 that's for 2G. All MotoX support that. Then you have to match 3G, and then 4G bands.
Looks like ATT is the best model for Europe but its also SIM and bootloader locked! Next in line is T-Mobile, followed by Verizon, both have same 2G and 3G bands, no 4G for Europe, SIM unlocked, but Verizon has bootloader locked

First of all, thanks for answering
Then, don't you think that the developer edition (GSM) could be a good option? For what I heard, with that I should be only missing the 4G network, wich would be unavaible anyway, wichever brand I choose..
Or am I wrong?
The other plus il that I wouldn't lose the warranty in case of modding..!
Hi there!
I am looking to get a Moto X to be used with any GSM carrier in the US and Europe.
(I don't want to root it)
Do I need to buy the Developer Edition or can I also get the No-Contract T-Mobile one (customizable via motomaker)?
Thanks in advance!
The T-mobile is unlocked and good to go, no need to buy the developer edition.

Are you absolutely sure about this? Do you know it for a fact, or have you just read it somewhere?
I contacted Motorola today, to verify that the t-mobile off-contract version indeed was sim-unlocked, but they replied that it WAS sim-locked, and also was carrying the t-mobile logo on the back.
I think it's really hard to figure out who to believe, since many are reporting that it comes sim-unlocked, but wouldn't Motorola be the one to know for sure?

I can't verify whether it's SIM locked or not but I have one in my hand and the T-Mobile XT1053 does not have any branding on it. There is no logo on it. There are no T-Mo apps on it either.
It's unlocked. Using it with prepaid at&t.

Hello,
I did some research recently, and this caused a little bit of confusion, so I'll post a quick question:
I'm trying to buy this phone on ebay (since I don't have a US CC card), which one should I get, the T-Mobile or AT&T version?
Requirements:
- to unlock it for Europe GSM
- install CyanogenMod
As of now I was going for the T-Mobile, since I've read it's easier to unlock the bootloader, but now I see that the CM is only for AT&T phones? Or am I mistaking?
Thanks!
It doesn't matter any more. When you purchase from the Moto web site you ask for the GSM version. There is no more differentiation between the T-Mo and AT&T versions. You'll get the XT1053, the former T-Mo version.

Yes, me. I bought a T-Mobile Moto X in November and had to choose my carrier. I bought another Moto X last week and there was no carrier selection, I only had to choose between GSM and CDMA. Both times I received an XT1053 with a T-Mobile SIM in it.

As far as AT&T bootloader goes it is still not unlockable. When it will be? Nobody really knows if Motorola is going to add it to its Unlock program.

Yes, it does. Looks as if they changed it again. I didn't get that selection panel when I bought one a week ago. I guess you can still get the XT1058 model for AT&T. However, if I were buying one I'm not sure why I would order the AT&T model over the GSM model based on the description. I would get the XT1053 anyway.

Maybe they were temporarily sold out of the AT&T model? There is some LTE band on the AT&T model not available on the XT1053, but if I remember that band isn't used currently by AT&T in the USA anyways. People might also want all that wonderful added value bloatware software not on the XT1053 and have the inconvenience safety of a locked SIM.

Hi. I'm based in Bangalore, India. I plan to get a 32GB Moto X with a Bamboo back from a friend in the States. I have a few questions about it, if anybody would be kind to help that'd be awesome.
1) Is there an unlocked version of the device and will it work in India?
2) How much would the device cost me including tax? I know tax laws are different according to state but I'd like to know the price range it would fall in.
3) More general questions about the phone: Is it of a durable build quality? How's the camera? I've read a ton of reviews but I want to know some real life comments. Also, I don't want to accidentally crack my screen from the smallest drop and get into the trouble of having to send the phone overseas back to the USA for customer support.

Sorry for hijacking this thread. I thought it better to post in this one than start a new one since my query is similar.
My question is which edition of Moto X is being sold in India? It is definitely an unlocked gsm phone as far as I know.
I would be moving to California for a little while and was wondering if I could use my Indian Moto X there on a prepaid gsm network like T-Mobile.
Any help would be appreciated.
Can't post the link to the Indian Moto x here due to new member restrictions. But it's being sold exclusively on flipkart.com
