Hi guys,
I have LTE working on my phone but I can't send or receive MMS? I have copied the exact setting on here, also tried the z1s setting but both nothing work?

Call TMO USA and tell them you have problem sending MMS. They will send you a SMS with the right settings. Even if you think you got the right settings probably you missing something and there is nobody else who can give you better settings than TMO Call Service.
Im new to this T-Mobile service as well as Sony Xperia Z1s and I have been having issues sending and receiving group messages which are MMS since the first day... T-Mobile says some bull**** its a common problem with Android phones or that each member in the group must have group messaging enabled. Well it worked just fine when I was on AT&T with a Samsung Galaxy S4 so i told them there full of crap. Its either the phone thats having the issue or its T-Mobile and ive done some research and there are several phones that have issues with MMS on T-mobile not just the Sony... Call them and escalate past the donkeys at level one and get to level two so they can submit an incident report to the engineers so they can fix it. It is there job to fix this type of ****.

I figured out the problem, it has something to do with their LTE network. Whenever I am on LTE, I won't be able to do MMS, but if you go to
Mobile Network --> Network Mode ----> choose WCDMA/GSM only.
The phone will be running on H+ or 3.5G instead of LTE, then all the MMS will go through without problems. Once you switch back to LTE the problem occurs again..it's retarded.

LOL...how this can happen? Unbelievable.
The Fix
Still having MMS issues? Try this (I have the Z3, and same issues, but this fixed it!)
1) Add a NEW APN (Settings-->More-->Mobile networks-->Access Point Names ((APN))-->push the + sign button) using these settings (and make sure to select it after creating and saving it):
Name: T-Mobile Data 2
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: not set
MMS port: not set
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0 <---(DOES NOT APPLY TO THE Z3, BUT OTHER PHONE USERS MAY WANNA TRY IT)
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Auth Type: not set
APN type: default,mms,supl,admin,hipri
APN proto: IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming proto: IPv4/IPv6
APN enable/disable: enable
Bearer: unspecified
Now to fix the issue with MMS messages being separated for no good reason (stock app can't handle them properly).
Guys...............this is the answer to your MMS problems. I have the Z3 and the same issue with the crappy stock text app. Textra is fantastic, looks COOLER than stock, and has all sorts of neat extras. (The add-on app that gives you cool iOS emojis that look better than the ones that come stock with Textra can be found here.)
My notes on Textra (please read):
2) ENABLE Stock Messenger app, making sure in "App info" screen (in Settings) that the "Notifications" box is unchecked. (Not sure if unchecking it matters, but I'd do it anyway to avoid double notification of incoming texts.) Also, under Stock Messenger's settings, make sure ALL boxes are unchecked as well. (You can try disabling stock text app if you want, but I don't, so not sure you really should either, but it might still be ok?)
3) In Textra (download this great text SMS/MMS messaging app if you haven't already from Google Play Store), make sure it's your default app, under Settings, "Use MMS for Group Chats" should be checked, MMS Settings: No Limit, and check the T-Mobile Wifi Calling Fix box too. (Post here or PM me if you'd like additional Textra settings suggestions.)
OPTIONAL: IF HAVING ISSUES RECEIVING TEXTS FROM iPHONE USERS WHO HAVE iMessage ENABLED ON THEIR IPHONE, THEN FOLLOW THIS: And lastly, there’s the “iMessage” issue ppl like myself are/were having (also those with LG G2 I’ve heard have this issue too) where when someone with an iPhone sends you an MMS pic text msg while their iMessage option is on, you don’t get the text…….. try this (a T-Mobile store rep told me this and it worked!): send YOURSELF an MMS photo text msg but include at least one other phone # as well too. If you’re using Textra or anything besides just the stock text app, then do this for EACH app. If that is the case, then do it via stock app first then Textra (easier this way). If you receive the pic successfully, then ask anyone you know with an iPhone to send you an MMS message (preferably having a 3rd phone # in on it too, but not sure if you need to) with iMessage ON. If you receive it, then it worked. If not, try this again.
Good luck!

Hi All,
Tried to search for this already but didn't find it.
I have an unlocked Captivate and am using it on the TMobile Network. I was originally on a $10 a month Data Plan but for some mysterious reason, I am no longer to get on the internet, nor send out any MMS. I am still able to receive MMS but just can't send any at all.
Any time I try to send a MMS, it sits on the "sending" status for about 15 min and then it finally just comes back to me with "failed".
I have been using this data plan on my phone for about 2.5 months now no problem and then a few days ago, it basically crapped out on me.
I have tried a few different APN settings:
Data Roaming is Checked
Access Point Name: t-mobile
APN: internet2.voicestream.com
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
APN Type: internet + mms
All others are not set
Access Point Name: t-mobile
APN: wap.voicestream.com
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
APN Type: internet + mms
All others are not set
and
Access Point Name: t-mobile
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
APN Type: internet + mms
All others are not set
I would set one of them in the settings, restart the phone and try them. They now always default to the "web2go" upsale screen.
Before I always had it set to the internet2.voicestream.com settings and it worked great.
I tried calling TMobile and they are now telling me that the "system" has somehow figured out that I'm using an Android/Smartphone and isn't allowing me to use the $10 data plan anymore.
I don't understand how that is if every rep has had to ask me what phone I use, unless one of the times I called in, the rep entered that into the system and now they know?
Now they are saying the only way that I am able to send MMS now and or get on internet is if I upgrade to the 200mb/mo for $15 data plan or $30/mo for unlimited.
Can anyone verify this? That they somehow the System is able to see what kind of phone I use and if so... would I be able to trick the system somehow and use a non smartphone like an old nokia for a while and go online, etc... and then switch back to my captivate if it works?
I feel like they're just trying to upsell me and a bratty rep kicked me off moreso than the "System".
Call tmobile and ask, its open.source so.they shoukdnt do anything, they might be doing guess work about it though

Hello,
I have a Samsung i896 Captivate, which was originally with Rogers. I purchased it from a cell store second hand and unlocked. I am with Virgin Mobile. I have spoken to them about my issue that the MMS will not download. They say they're down loading but then never finish and eventually expire. Even as I added the APN according to the instructions from VIrgin, nothing has changed. Still not down loading MMS. They say that because the phone was not originally with Virgin they can't do anything about it. Is there anything I can do to get my MMS downloading even with my unlocked phone??? Please help and thank you for reading.

When you entered your APN, did you delete all the others first?
Being unlocked doesn't change much other than you can use it on any carrier. Did you check with them to see if they locked your MMS?
Also, MMS can only be downloaded on data (can't use wifi).

Thank you for your reply BWolf56! So I haven't checked with Rogers to see if they lock their MMS as they are not my carrier. (they were the original phone owners carrier) If I call them do you think they'll assist me even if I am not thier client?
When I entered the APN there were no previous APN entered so none to delete.
I turned off the Wifi and then turned my phone on and off, just to see if that made a difference...I don't even know what to expect will happen if I do find a fix. Will my pending (NOT expired) MMS be able to be down loaded?
Would you have any other suggestions as to how to fix this problem? I really want to receive these messages before they expire and am getting kind of desperate. Thanks again.

Locked MMS would come from your current carrier so you would have to ask them.
Although, if you were on Wifi this entire time, it's normal it didn't work. As I mentioned earlier, you need to be on your data (3G/H) to download MMS. You should be able to redownload the pending ones, just hold over the MMS and hit redownload.

Out of curiosity, did you set two APN's? By the looks of it, there are two for Virgin - one for default and one for mms. I had the worst time doing a Rogers apn setup and eventually had to go to the default one and put default,text,mms,...etc for the type. Virgin might work the same. If you already have figured your problem out, then sorry for a late reply.

There should be 2 APNs indeed: Rogers' look like this:
Main APN:
Name: Roger #1
APN: internet.com
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
Leave everything else as is.
MMS APN:
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
APN type: mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
Leave everything else as is.
There's also a LTE one and couple others but aren't needed on our phone.
So yeah, Virgin should have something similar to those. And of course, gotta be on data (3G)
Let's hope that's all it is, I couldn't help but notice that the reference was "APN" instead of "APN's". I'm just finishing work on a Captivate and happen to have a Virgin acct so I'll try it shortly and see
Oh my. I am so sorry, I didnt even get close to trying my virgin acct on the captivate I was working on. The customer was hovering to get it back, so sorry for misleading. How did you make out ElleJay? did you finally get your unit going?

i had a similar problem a few months back and sporadically since. i talked to rogers and was advised to go into apn type and edit it to say - internet, mms instead or default, supl, mms
try it and exit then go back in and make sure it stuck. for some reason it takes more than one try sometimes.
hope that helps
Remember, they bought with rogers as original, but are trying to setup virgin...but yeah, the overall consencus is that they may be missing an apn setting and "of course, gotta be on data (3g)" lol. Now just more concerned as to whether its up and running.
So, quick backstory:
got my moto x, loved every part of it except the battery life which was in my opinion pretty sub par. Did some looking around, lots of reports of 4.4 ruining battery life for some people.
So I flashed 4.2.2 (the first OTA with camera I think, file name was ATT_XT1058_4.2.2-13.9.0Q2.X-116-X-17-54_CFC_1FF.xml.zip).*
I god damn love this thing now, battery life is superb and everything else is just as good (cept I miss the 4.4 launcher with the fade out nav bars, but oh well).
However today I discovered a problem. I can't send or receive pictures (more generally anything mms it seems). I've got signal (LTE, more specifically), and SMS/calls work fine.
Tried having a look at the APN settings, but it wont let me edit them anyway, they're greyed out.
That more or less leaves me out of ideas, anyone familiar with this problem?
*I had a hell of a time getting the flash to work. rsdlite 6.1.5 kept giving me an error "unknown adb command: getvar". some googling led to deleting this line in the .xml file
<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
after which it worked, but then rsdlite got to the "rebooting" phase and hung there. the phone rebooted and was working fine and like hey dude set me up we're good, so I just unplugged it and went.
wondering if maybe taking the 4.4 OTA update would fix it, though if it causes my battery life to suffer again that'll suck.
If the APN settings are wrong you can create a new one rather than changing the old one.
I'm using the T-Mobile variant on AT&T and had trouble sending/receiving MMS when I first got up and running. Had 4G LTE, everything worked, except MMS.
Create a new APN setting as the previous poster suggested. Could be all you need to do is change the MMS port to '8080' instead of '80'. These are my APN settings that work for me:
Name: AT&T PHONE
APN: phone
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
Username: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: Not Set
APN type: default,supl,mms,hipri
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: None
Like I said, with these settings, I have no issues with MMS and get 4G LTE.
Thanks for the advice guys. Sadly I can't seem to do...anything actually, related to apns. The existing ones are greyed out when I click on them, and while I can make a new one, it won't save, I click save and nothing happens, back button won't work and when I go back into the menu via settings its not there
Any suggestions?
Edit: I made one with a bogus name and then it let me save it, I've since changed it to match the settings offered here (thank you) but still no dice
So turns out hangouts has its own APN settings menu for MMS. Changed the port in there to 8080 and now it works.feel kinda silly bit hey at least its good now lol.
Thanks guys

Awesome man. That was one of the first tricks i tried -- just changing the port to 8080. Once you create a new APN setting, there's a radio button you have to highlight on the right side to select it. it's kind of hard to see, if you can even see it at all. Perhaps that's why you thought you couldn't save it? Either way, glad you found an alternative fix for yourself within hangouts.
Problem rectified. Mods, feel free to delete post.
Hi all,
We've had some data/mms/APN issues about a month ago on my gal's Note 3 with AT&T; it did a system update and all of sudden stopped working with mobile data. Turns out it reset the APN, so she stopped in AT&T, they changed some APN settings and data was back up and running. MMS was still having issues though, until I noticed that part was missing in the APN type settings. I added it and all was fine for awhile.
This morning, her phone updated and now there's no mobile data again. I haven't gotten hands on with the phone yet, but I thought maybe it wiped her fixed APN entry. She's checked the APN settings and they match what's on AT&T's support page (copied below for reference).
The only abnormality in the situation is that her service plan still has "iphone" data. She had an iPhone previously, I got her a Galaxy S4 off contract and we just swapped the SIM into the Galaxy; I then did the same, getting her a Note 3 and we just swapped the SIM again (I do some research work with phone companies, extra phones can be a perk!). She'd get occasional text messages from AT&T saying she needed to switch her data plan, but we ignored them in fear that doing so would lose her grandfathered unlimited data. Those texts stopped months ago and everything's been working fine the entire time so I didn't think that's an issue, but wanted to add it here just in case.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

This is solved.
The Phone Carrier found the solution and sent me a text.
As many others in many other places suspect, It is an APN issue. To me it looks like Samsung has made some assumptions about what the APN setting should be for different carriers and simply loads them in as part of the update. The sets the Network Operators to select automatically. Sometime this only gets close enough that the phone only makes call but not SMS or mms. sometimes SMS works too but many time the mms setting fail.
This is the USA solution for those using Straight Talk
Settings --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names -->> you should already have a Straight Talk
If you don't you will have to call the Tech Line for the complete list as this maybe somewhat device specific.
Change the following.
Name: Straight Talk
APN: RESELLER
PROXY: not set
PORT: not set
User name: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http: //mmsc .mobile.att.net
MMS PROXY: proxy mobile. att. net

AUTH TYPE: not set
MMS APN TYPE: default.mms.supl

APN Roaming: IPv4/IPv6
Ok,
I did the OTA Update to Build Number MMB29K.T815YDVU2BPG5 ,,, Baseband version T815YDVU2BPE5 and mms has died.
Cannot send. If I try it takes 15-20 minutes for it to fail and give the failed message.
If I am sent an mms I get a message showing a download arrow and when I tap it, it takes about 5 minutes to get the "DOWNLOAD FAILED" message.
Things I have tried:
Checked APN setting with carrier. ---- They were correct
Deleted all other APN's from the system. ---- >> No CHANGE
Set APN protocol(s) to IPv4/IPv6 (carrier said it would be OK) ---->> NO CHANGE
Set Chrome to be the DEFAULT BROWSER ----->> NO CHANGE
Tried it in SAFE MODE ----->> still no mms send
The above should have done the next one but still tried the next one.
Deleted ALL other apps that had mms permissions--->> NO CHANGE
Things I have not tried:
Complete reset. Research says sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it works for a few hours and then mms fails again. Really big hassle.
Trying to ROLL BACK. Nothing about this looks easy or something a person without pretty high level knowledge and skills and access to a really good computer should attempt. This is especially true since I have one of the more unusual versions. The SM-T815Y (GSM LTE with a SIM card) and none of the other variations that have full phone capability were supposed to be available in the USA. Info for any version that isn't GSM LTE is probably useless since the hardware will be different. I get no WARRANTY SERVICE from Samsung. Cannot even register it with them. To get the original OS I have to download from foreign sites with all the perils that involve.
Hoping some else has some ideas I haven't tried short of a master reset.
