I have looked everywhere, but cannot find somebody stating that they have an android build that supports miracast (also known as screen mirroring). I have also installed many different nightly builds, and cannot find one that supports it
From what I have read, I believe that the hardware will work with it, but miracast has to be implemented in the OS. Does anybody know if there is an Android version for touchpad that supports miracast, or if one of the developers are working on it?
Thanks ahead of time for all replies!
I tried yesterday with my Touchpad on CM11 (Milaq Rom) and my Sony TV (with Miracast) and it does not work. Tonight i will try with a Nexus 7 (2103).
But, maybe it's a problem with CM11 Rom...

Miracast definitely works with the 2013 nexus 7. I would provide the link, but I don't have enough posts to link on xda forums.
Its under Settings > Device > Display > cast screen
I have a stationary bike in a room with no cable connection, and have been using miracast through my phone to watch shows and movies, but a tablet would be so much better! I'm really trying to hold off on buying a new tablet until the mullins processors are out or there are decent windows tablets with good graphics and battery life that aren't so pricey (like the razer edge). Thanks for the reply!

I have a miracast hdmi dongle that works flawlessly with my Galaxy Note 2. I will test it this week and reply back with the answer. Can you post a link or state which version of his rom you see the "cast screen" option in? i.e. android 4.4
thanks!

You rule-that's exactly what I was looking for-I will load that on my touchpad and see if it works. I currently have an older version of Flintman's evervolve on my touchpad and it doesn't have the cast screen option
You're welcome, I was wondering what this functionality was, so actually you cleared that up for me.
Report back if it works please, would be nice for future use when I own such a dongle

I just loaded and tested the cast screen option and it doesn't work. :crying:
If I get enough posts I will ask in flintman's thread and ask if he plans on getting cast screen to work. I will post again if it ever does :good:
I will post this for you in Flintmans Evervolv nondata thread
Are you sure this is for Miracast though and not Chromecast?

Yes, I purchased the Belkin Miracast adapter. It definitely works with the "screen mirroring" function on my Galaxy note II. That function is most definitely miracast. If Flintman needs a tester for the cast screen option, I will be happy to be that person.

This was Flintmans answer in the Evervolv nondata thread at least:
"Unsure as i havent looked to deep into it"
Seems other stuff getting first attention as better BT support and overclocking etc, as Miracast will only afffect a real small number of users. But who knows maybe it works in his next release expected somewhere coming weekend.

Right-it's not as popular a feature as BT, but it's pretty awesome once you use it. Thanks for asking
I can imagine, especially as TP has no HDMI out. When it is up and running I'll buy such a Belkin miracast dongle too
I hate to post on an old thread but I have been looking everywhere and this is the newest conversation I could find on this topic. Has anyone found a rom for the touchpad that supports miracast yet?

So I'm hoping people with a little more knowledge than me in PCs would help me figure out this issue I have at the moment with my computer.
Is there any way to block an app/program from detecting your external display? In other words, still use my Vizio as a monitor, yet fool my computer to think it's my laptop's actual monitor?
The reason I'm trying to figure this out is so I can use the Optimum for Laptop app. It only runs on laptops and will not work if it detects that you're using an external display. I have no choice at the moment to use one, since the screen on my Dell Inspiron is shattered. Any tips/advice is appreciated
Try mirroring your display instead of just choosing the external as your main display. Therefore you have both the display on the laptop and on the external screen. If you choose the external as your main it cuts off the feed to the laptops screen. You will probably have to leave the lid open or go into your power settings and
choose do nothing when you close the lid. Hope this helps.

Yeah I say mirror the display as well. If that works, just toss a black shirt over your laptop screen so the light doesn't leak through.
I tried that, but then it would not stream the channel. Like it knows.....
Thanks for replying though. I appreciate it.
try enabling only the external monitor (if you haven't already) using your video card/driver software. i know this is possible in software like catalyst control center and others.
So here's what happens now. The warning about me using the external display doesn't pop up anymore when I change the display to clone on both monitors. But the channels will not load, unless I unplug the VGA to my laptop. Then the channel will start playing. I'm trying to figure out any way to still use my monitor but at the same time my laptop doesn't detect it.
I have the same exact question as the OP.
Have you found another solution to this? If I clone my display, the max resolution to my monitor is much less than I want it to be (monitor is capable of 1920 x 1080).
Thanks.
I have the same issue has there been any progress?

do i need to be a member to reply to this? (I guess so lol) Optimum STILL doesn't support external display of their optimum for laptop, or thru the optimum app. It's RIDICULOUS! I subscribe to the basic tv but have no cable boxes since I only subscribed to lower my entire bill as I got a promotion for a year. I watch tv now and again on my iphone 6 or on my rca 10" tablet. I have antenna and get all the major channels but when it's really crappy weather out I will watch on tablet or phone. Would be nice if I can cast the picture to my 40" tv instead of watching on my iphone 6. Now that Altice has bought Optimum and doubled our speeds maybe they'll support external display. (But I doubt it....)
Does the Nexus 7 have hdmi out via MHL adapter?
Doesn't say on the spec sheet and I wasn't able to watch the keynote today to see if it did.
Check out around the 9:00 mark of the keynote. Whether it makes it to production is to be seen but obviously they are putting video out.. also on the Google Play Store under tech specs they don't mention the Galaxy Nexus has MHL.. but it does have it so just because it doesn't list it on the N7 page doesn't mean it won't have it- just have to wait and see
Engadget says there is but I'm hoping that they will confirm it. Can't post the link yet but it's in their review.

As for that third mystery port if you look at the keynote link I posted its clear they are hooked into the middle port which is the micro-usb.

Update: We received some bogus information on the MHL. We've now confirmed that the Nexus 7 does not support MHL, meaning there's no way to connect this over HDMI to get video output.
Engadget has confirmed that it is NOT shipping with MHL support.
The developer units connected to TVs at google I/O have hdmi ports as shown:

a minute late there buddy haha
Well that is ****ing stupid. I guess they want us to all buy that damn orb to watch our videos on. **** that. Not getting it now. I will wait for a complete tablet. It's even more insulting considering that it shouldn't have that much of an impact on price. I love TV-out considering I travel quite a bit. Looks like I need to get a developer one somehow if I want HDMI out. Probably no usb OTG either.
So I'm guesing MHL support needs to be in hardware.. and something software can't alleviate.. right? X_x Unfortunate though I've never put anything on my TV through a device considering I have a computer near by to do that.. :T

It is hardware if the Touchpad is anything to go by. It may be there lurking in the shadows but I highly doubt it. Considering the developer ones have an HDMI out port and all kind of pushes me to doubt it territory. It's is so odd to have something clearly showing TV out of some kind then not giving it to people. Tegra 3 was all about getting people to give up their consoles and all of that crap but how can someone do that if it is tied to a 7 inch device? So strange.
Makes no sense why they wouldn't include it other than cost cutting honestly just another strike against it.. watching the keynote it looks like nothing is hooked up on the left side where that hdmi port is just the middle and the mic port?? baffling
I hope you are right. I have been burned too many times with all the I hope this is included and the engadget review kind of seals it.
What I'd like to see is some sort of dock that attaches via the pogo pins and does hdmi out. I think this is more likely.

Cancelled preorder.
Was willing to live without memory expansion slot, but add to that the lack of video out is a total and utter deal breaker for me.
I'm sure sometime shortly after the Nexus 7 ships, a similar device will come out with these options for a similar price.
Most newer HDTV's support DLNA which works great. There are some good free DLNA apps on the marketplace too. BubbleUPnP and iMediaShare Lite are both really good. The paid iMS is better though as it does YouTube in HD.
Hi, I really love this tablet lineup alot. I have the tf300t and it has alot of Developer Support. I love this brand specifically because it allows me to type up school related documents when I need to and has an awesome battery life. I wanted to get the TF701, but it seems completely empty on the developer support. Why is this? Is it a crappy tablet? Does no one care about this tablet anymore?
If this isn't a suggested tablet, what is a suggested one that has a keyboard with it?

Hey man, I seriously am so appreciative for all you work man. I used CROMI-X all the time on my tf300t. Your Rom and the AOSP roms motivated me to stay with the tf300t. You have done an awesome job and I appreciate all your time with your ROMS.
I guess I have gotten spoiled with having the opportunity of tasting all the different Roms Available for devices like the the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S4 and the TF300t.
I was just curious if the lack of developers on this tablet made me think there was a serious issue with the tablet.
Now doing some research, even the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet doesn't have much developer support either even after being so popular.

I agree, that TF701 performs pretty darn well with the stock rom. While the TF700 begged for custom roms (to solve issues like the need to turn off FSYNC), it took me a lot longer to unlock the device and install the customized sbdags version. His version is awesome, but I agree that the need is not as apparent as it was on previous devices, presumably because the hardware is better.
That being said, it also seems like the user base for the TF701 is not quite there either....
Maybe cause the 701T just came out recently?

I wonder if it might be also because the tegra 3 has been around since the tf300? along with the nexus 7. So they had something to work from. I dont know if that has anything to do with it though.
Stock when rooted is just so good, for me at least. I would hate to lose the productivity apps built into the stock Rom if I change it.

Sbdags is a God, there is no question about it. His efforts and those of the other developers are the reasons Android is so great.
I wonder if the custom rooms have this feature present in the stock Rom where I could just bring up floating apps by just clicking the button on the left.
P.S. Don't know why the attached screenshot is blurry. It is clear when viewed through the gallery.

I'd assume that any of these should work with the black irig HD as well:

At least they say so on the website for their iOS version of irig HD:
http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irighd/index.php?pp=irig-hd-specs
"Compatible with any Android devices with USB (OTG) connector running Android 5 (coming soon). "
It seems like it wont be just for the Note 4 and Note Edge. I dont understand wall this publicity to Samasung when they clearly say in their website that every Android device with USB OTG and Android Lollipop will get it x)
sir ikmultimedia i dont know anything about amplitube but a friend is asking if the note 4 will be able to use the full screen of the controls (thats how he described it to me) like the one in his ipad. Thanks sir.
Looks like Amplitube is now available from the play store as well:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ikmultimediaus.android.amplitubefullse
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ikmultimediaus.android.amplitubese
Still, it says
AmpliTube is compatible with Android devices that support Samsung Professional Audio technology, like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 require Android 5 Lollipop.

Damn, I've just sold my Note 3 and I should receive my Nexus 6 in the next few days... IK Multimedia, any chance to see a port to devices other than Samsung's? Please, pretty please
Zomg amazing, i waited my whole life for this.. Thanks god ❤
What is the purpose of this thing?
ArtRage is also in the Galaxy Gifts while they haven't informed they have Android version ready on their own forums or anywhere, I was very surprised to see it.

You can buy a standard OTG cable and use the USB connection you already have with your iRig HD.
We also have more news on this front released today: We are definitely going to expand to other devices as more start to support Samsung Professional Audio but we also will be showing (and you can try it if you are there) near-zero latency Android audio for devices using Android 4.0 and above (so not even requiring Lollipop!). We announced this today on our site. I would post a link but I need more posts first
Check it out!

Looks like it will be here sometime in the next few weeks.
(I know it wont be a big change, but I think some people will be excited)
What newer features make it worth an exclamation point? Battery life - really? "Material design" - meh. Multiple SIM card support - huh? Fingerprint reader support? Android pay?
Maybe just a bigger number is better for bragging rights?
App compatibility...
example?
I've got nothing to prove mate, if you don't care then feel free to move along. Cheers.
Lollipop has better notification handling than KitKat, the ART runtime is tuned better (i.e. better performance), previous apps are restored after reboot, better power consumption, while not critical for head units less power consumption means less heat and better reliability.
While there are a bunch of apps that are available on KitKat and Lollipop, the Lollipop ones can have additional features.
Nothing ground breaking, I know I will appreciate the notification handling, being able to remove some persistent notifications for some apps and clean up that messy notification bar.
For me, the biggest thing is that it shows joying actually supports their products and isn't just another reseller.

The MAIN feature of Lollipop over KK is the fact that it has DIGITAL AUDIO natively through USB if your audio hardware supports it. I am most excited about that. Material design is the other reason, and the other reason is that RAM management and App memory management is better. Project Butter in Lollipop works very well in operating the interface at 60 fps and I am guessing these are reasons enough to be excited about Lollipop.

Can you post a link. It's ok translating the Russian when you know the page but it's a bit of a challenge searching.
Thanks

There's a link posted on the carjoying.com website to a beta 5.1.1 firmware for the RK3188 1024*600 units :
http://www.carjoying.com/Joying-blog/12.html
Here's the direct link to the firmware :

Has anyone tried this yet? Just tried to update but got the boot logo (manufacturer, not the bootloader logo), just sat there for like 30mins, restarted and it reverted to factory firmware on 4.4.

Hey Frank,
How did you install an external DAC to usb player pro? I have a FiiO x3K that I would like to hook up to the head unit and use as a DAC? Is there any way, you might have some insight as to how I can a achieve this? Would I have to use a microusb to usb or auxilary?
Thanks

Off topic a bit, but first go install the trial app and plug your Fiio into USB and test it out.
