Is my NOTE bricked beyond repairs. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was on asylum omni rom build dated 02.02.2014.
One fine day, my fone just got switched off. When started it was stuck on Galaxy note screen and wont go into recovery mode. Download mode working fine though.
I read a lot of threads in this forum and..
1. Got Odin 3.07
2. Downloaded latest philz kernel
3. tried to flash under PDA tab but stuck at "NAND write fail "
4. Downloaded 16GB pit file for N7000.
5. FLashed PIT file with repartition option ticked. Then it said "Repartition failed"
Is my note bricked beyond repair, Any help... Please!

If download mode is working, I would suggest to try installing a Samsung TouchWiz stock ROM via Odin. But better wait for someone with more knowledge than me or someone that have already faced that issue to reply you
@chasmodo You are on that device since a lot, some idea for that error?
Enviado desde mi Moto G mediante Tapatalk

Try flashing any new version of philz in PC Odin. Then do full wipes and try flashing your custom ROM again from sdcard. Post back.

It seems you have flashed PhilZ revovery instead of his kernel. Find the kernel in the thread in the ori dev. The kernel include recovery with it.

What is the exact version of Odin you are using.

I think this one may be older which may work better. Then flash via pda just test. I am not sure it will make a difference. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...IxHp1ISlP2fzGKhtw&sig2=gsQ88hiD9jIS86zQ-7-PLw

ODin i was using was 3.09.
Flashed now using odin3 v1.85. Reinstalled usb drivers and rebooted pc before that.. ensured i did not flash the pit file and pda option was selected. Also changed the USB cable adn trying different usb ports but it seems by only com3 is getting me ahead. rest all does not recognize the phone. Stuck here now.
EDIT1: also..initially my binary counter was zero.. now every time i flash with odin, it is increasing. now it is 4.
Edit 2: I tried different versions of odin. 1.3, 1.85, 3.07, 3.09. gettting stuck at nand write start always..
Edit 3: It actually completed with 3.07 version but still operation failed.

Did you reboot into download mode?

i was in download mode when using odin.
Should i go ahead and flash pit files as mentioned here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886&page=116

Whenever I had to use Odin, I did use the 1.87 version.
Make sure that ..
+ no antivirus is running etc
+ KIES is not running (kill all KIES processes via task manager)
The counter is a secondary problem> Triangle Away > after you revived your Note
Good luck?
Sent via GALAXY NOTE N7000 // KitKat

i have disabled AV and FW. I uninstalled kies but kept the usb driver for mobiles. Tried Odin 1.87 again and getting stuck at nand write start.
I flashed all custom pit files as mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661590&page=2 for case 2. but all failed. It said "Repartition failed"
I dont understand this step in manual partition.
"- Prepare adb folder: download adb folder from Here and extract adb folder to c: driver of your computer, you will have the tools folder which has adb.exe in it. You should now have adb working for your Note.
- Install custom recovery so that you can get into recovery and connect adb. "
Does this mean my fone is superbricked? What has caused this.. i was on stable omni rom which many are using.. i always stayed on stock kernels coming with the rom.

Boot partition could be corrupted for some unknown reason. Take the battery out for a while and see if you can find an Odin flashable stock ICS or JB kernel. (Dr Ketan ?) If flash is successful (it won't raise flash counter), you can boot into stock recovery and flash a Philz kernel and wipe everything, then flash a new rom. If not, your phone is as good as hardbricked. Worse actually, because download mode is still accessible and raised flash counter is there for all to see
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app

i am already out of warranty.. How does the counter matter? [My counter is on 8 now. Can i reset the counter now?]
I am trying to search stock JB kernel in the forum. Search option yielding nothing. Will keep searching..
What would cause such an hardbrick?

Ok so counter is not an.issue then.
Phones just die for no reason sometimes
Edit: See if.you can flash a modified pit from @hg42 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app

there are 352 patched pits in this for N7000 16GB. Which one do i exactly flash?
Can anyone please point me to an Odin flashable stock ICS or JB kernel. (Dr Ketan ?) ?
Thank you all for your patience

Try thishttp://d-h.st/IvQ
Flash in PDA box
If it works, see if.you can boot into stock recovery (but don't do any wipes)

You cannot odin mi9 over mj5 you will end up with mi9 rom and mj5 bootloaders which will give you problems. If you have already done this you can flash the pit file only and possibly save yourself however this hasnt worked for everyone. Search the forum there is a thread with the pit file available. Kingo will root your phone but by trying to dowmgrade you have other issues to fix first. The bootloadera do not allow themself to be downgraded
---------- Post added at 06:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:47 PM ----------
Also idk what you are thinking but we do not hqve any custom roms or recovery available for the att note 3 yet due to the locked bootloaders and other security methods used by att

I had this problem.. You must have v3.10.6 and flash every file in the corresponding place, after that I still got a fail message but I tried un-checking the auto reboot option and that did the trick (this will make the phone stay in download mode even after you complete the flash, to quit download mode you must press the volume down button and the power button at the same time for about 10 seconds) hope that helps, let me know.

What do you mean with that? witch 4 files?
Hope you can help me.
After a factory swipe and installing vodafone wallet on my S6 it says that it doesn't work on a rooted Phone
You have to put each file in the corresponding place, when you download the stock rom after you've extracted the zip you're supposed to have a file called AP, BL, CSC, AND the other which I cannot remember, those are the files you're supposed to flash, if you try to flash just AP like on the screenshot it's not going to work.

I think you downloaded the wrong firmware for your phone, your phone is G920F and the firmware you are trying to flash is G925F.
@Neostatic17, it looks like you downloaded the wrong file. The file should be a tar.zip, not tar.md5. Once you download the correct tar.zip, extract the file and you will see 4 files within the one file you downloaded. Then flash all 4 files with odin.
Edit...Ok, I've checked my pc and the file is a tar.zip before you extract it and once it's extracted, there are 4 tar.md5 files. All you have to do is put the AP file in the AP slot, BL file in the BL slot and so on. I leave auto reboot checked, but that is up to you.

[ROM][TAR] L720 Stock OD2 Odin flashable

Do NOT rename the tar file, it may cause Odin to fail the md5 check.
This is NOT ROOTED. Its the original TAR file for people who need an Emergency Recovery for their phones, and don't want to wait hours for it to download from slow file hosts.
Download Link: L720 L720T
BACK UP ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS AND PICTURES/VIDEOS ON YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD. THIS MAY ERASE EVERYTHING.
Instructions:
1. Download and Extract tar above and download Odin
2. Put phone into download mode (power off, then power button + Volume Down, then volume up when prompted)
3. Open Odin (right click > open as administrator)
4. Load stock tar into the PDA slot
5. Start flashing
6. Grab some popcorn because it will take a while
7. Profit
Includes bootloader as well?
Finally, thank you. I've held off on trying some things because we didn't have a tar to fall back on.

My phone's screen has smashed, so I cannot verify, but I'm sure it does have a new bootloader. I flashed this on my phone successfully (I can hear the Samsung Boot Sound), but cannot verify anymore than that.
If i flash this rom i will lock my phone? Im on another od2 and unlocked with galaxy tools
I am from Greece and i have flashed this rom, my phone was unlocked from the oldest method and it is now still unlocked.
The thing i want to ask is that at the network settings there is nonly the option GSM/UMST for my country and i want to get the options for Only GSM and not to get the 3G Signal at all.
With the old rom there was a prosedure that i was rooting the phone and setting it but is there any root on this one and tell me someone how to get the GSM only setting?
I hope our hero's havent abandoned the S4. I would love this as a rom only, de-knoxed, with hotspot hack. I have the firmware and modem files already.
edit: actually i dont really care about knox anymore, just the hotspot.

I'm a little confused. I have a Sprint Galaxy S4 SPH-L720.
I want to restore it completely to stock. Should I flash the tar linked in the first post, or use one of the tars linked in your quoted post?
Thanks for any info.

All the info is right there. My post says that link is for the L720T, you don't have the L720T, so you would use the one in the OP.

Thanks for the quick response. I just wanted to be sure I was flashing the right TAR. Didn't want to brick my phone.
I downloaded and flashed the TAR from the first post, and all went perfect. I'm now on Lollipop 5.0.1.
Thanks to OP for this TAR!!!!
I need help... I started flashing the tar in odin to my phone and everything seemed to be doing fine for about 10-15 minutes, then it says "FAIL". Heres what showed up in the message box:

Update from MF9 4.2.2?
Noob question: I've been away from customizing for awhile. My phone is rooted, but otherwise stock. on 4.2.2 modem MF9. Would flashing this work for updating me to lastest "stock". Or do I need to update modem or something else prior to rom?

Can't Unroot Note 4 5.1.1 using ODin

For the past couple of days I've been unable to unroot my device using Odin, which I have done many of times on the past. I went to Sammobile and got the latest firmware to flash back to stock, but everytime I attempt to do so the process Fails. USB Debugging is enabled so I don't have a clue what the problem could be. I will list some general information as well as the results of the Odin process below:
Baseband Version: N910TUVUD0K2
Odin process result:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> N910T3UVU1DOK2_N910T3TMB1DOK2_N910T3UVU1DOK2_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.

Updated: I've stumbled across a thread here on XDA which has a mirror link to Stock TW Firmware/Bootloader/Modem N910TUVU2DOK2, and after flashing this mirror link using Odin... my phone now is unrooted and back to stock. Many thanks to ShrekOpher for posting the mirror link and here is a link to his post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/development/mirror-stock-tw-t3260858
Same issue
I just posted about this same issue a couple of days ago, if you go to my only post ive done so far you can see how we are in the same boat. What were you using before you got to your problem, which custom ROM?
I had this problem on the note edge. What helped me was flashing cwm recovery and wiping everything

make sure u didn't check in settings the reactivation lock,
use twrp, wipe everything except sdcard... then boot into downloader mode, and it should work, I do know the reactivation lock should be the only thing to stop you.
hope that helps...

I check and made sure that the reactivation lock was disabled, but it still didn't work. I guess I will keep an eye open to see if this issue can get resolved sometime in the near future

I can't Odin to stock unless I change the name of the firmware file to .tar. it skips the md5 check I believe.

Also go to supersu and do a full unroot before. I'm thinking maybe the supersu backup script could cause issues too
