Hi every one this is my first post and was wondering if anyone has had this problem come up.
My wife has the I9000 and a couple months ago it started to show this problem of everytime the phone is in standby the screen keeps coming on or about a second or to then goes off for about a second the then on and it will keep doing this till it runs the battery down.
I have tried to do a complete ROM install fresh and factory resets and custom roms and the phone still keeps doing it. is there anything i can do or is the phone beyond fixing unless i take it apart??
Thanks
Andy
Hi,
This sometimes happens to me also. Reflashing does not seem to help.
The one thing that seemed to do any difference was to turn off the device, remove battery, sim card and SD card. Then plug them all back in and start the phone.
This sometimes worked or at least minimized the number of problems, but not a permanent solution.
Although your problem could be something completelly diferent.
No arm in trying this suggestion
Hi thanks for the reply.
I havd tried that. Atp the moment it has no sc card or sim card as she got a galaxy mini to use for moment and it still dose the same thing.
It is quite anoying as ya have to have it plugged into charge all time as batt drains really quickly.

One possibility is a hardware problem. Maybe one of your phone's buttons (home, power, or volume) is grounded and keep on contacting.
Another possibility is a program that is running automatically. If you're on ICS or JB, you can check your running apps in Settings/Apps/Running and see if there is a running app that can be stopped without affecting the system...
Just a suggestion.
is there a known solution for the "screen-turning-on-problem"?
friend of me has the same problem with non-rooted galaxy s+
The phone is on stock gb fresh install.
Might have to try and open it and see if anything wrong.

Just bought a xperia TX few weeks ago
But I feel that there are some problems during I use.
Sometimes when I want to wake it up from standby mode
It doesn't wake up and the screen keeps nothing appears
But the notification light still works, so that the phone should still working and not ran out of battery
The solution I use is pull the battery off and place it again....
This happened about 4 times in a week...
My phone is 7.0.A.3.197
even it is rooted or not, the situation still here.
Is there any idea to solve it?
Had exactly the same problem with my T and tried every posible documented solution but nothing worked. So I just dropped my T to service yesterday and expecting to collect it tonight, after that we'll see what the problem really is. The guy from sony said they have had this issue in the U and Sola but nothing reported so far on the T. He claimmed however that for this issue is to be settle in first quarter 2013 via update of course, in those devices. But did not mention something about this in the T.
In anyway I don't feel like is software related, my bet goes to a hardware issue in some unlucky devices.
I started a post here called Xperia T SOD so keep an eye on it as later on I'll report my findings after the Sony Service job.

Sorry for push back the post.
I noticed that this situation happened when I connected to my home's wifi for a long time.
Because during the holidays, the times of my phone suddenly dead from sleeping mode is increased.
I am using mobile data at outside and Wifi at home, and the situation always happen at home, so that I think that the phone maybe dead from sleeping mode in a significant condition, that means the Wifi connection.
I tried to set the wifi keep on during sleep only when plugged in, then the the situation haven't happen again in previous two weeks!
Hi,
I bought an Xperia TX about three weeks ago. Since then the phone has gone into the sleep of death state four times! I've read all the discussions regarding the same problem in other phones such as Xperia T, V and Z, and applied suggested fixes such as turning the WiFi off when not using the phone. But, alas, none of the suggestions has prevented the problem. On the other hands, I should be happy because there are some people with Xperia V whose phone hangs four times a day!! I am very surprised because apparently this problem occurs for Sony Xperia models more often than for other brands. I hope the problem to be a software related one and to be solved by an update fix, though some Xperia T owners who have updated to JB still face different problems. Please let me know if you too own an Xperia TX and have faced this annoying problem.
Many Thanks
Actualy you are the second owner of tx to Face SOD dont expect much replays here

I am not sure if it is just your firmware because I am on. 197 and no problems. Most people are on. 197 as well so probably not many with that problem. You can try doing a reset through pc companion and that might fix it. It seems to work for various issues that have come up for others.

no problem with my Tx .212
You had 3.212 on it when you bought it or did an OTA update?
Try a PC companion repair.

I had 3.212 when I bought the phone. The phone is being updated to JB right now and I wish the problem would be fixed by this update.
i got my TX a couple of day back and root/flash to FXP213 now. I have tried FXP208 to 213 and this SoD occur in all version of ROM.
i;m trying to get the log for the ROM guy to take a look. I've trie dth wifi off too but still SoD. I notice if i left the phone in sleep mode for over 2 or mayb3 hours, the phone will juz sleep to death.
Actually i have been getting SOD since a couple of weeks on my TX. It happened when the phone is charged overnight.
Another thing i noticed is that each time i reboot the phone after the SOD, it says my my SD card is unrecognized and if i want to format it.
I just took out the SD card for the time being thinking it was causing the SOD.3 days since i removed it and no SOD yet. Any ideas?

Hi,
One of the guesses about the causes of the SoD problem is in fact SD cards. However, there are reports about having the problem even after taking out the SD card.
Have you updated your firmware to JB? Since I updated mine 5 days ago, I haven't faced SoD (touching wood!).
So, I recommend you to upgrade youlr phone if you haven't done so.
By the way, I vaugely remember that those who complained about the SD card cusing this problem, recommended to use SD cards of classes 2 or 4 (and not higher classes).

using ICS 3.212 a month
never facing any SoD
using from 3.212 Russian ftf
and I'm using sdcard 32 GB class 10 without any problem
never hear any information, that higher sd card class give error or SoD to some phone, except for bad sd card. . .
I have been having a similar issue with my TL ever since I upgraded to Jelly Bean about a month ago. For the first two weeks everything worked great and I loved the new update, but now seemingly out of nowhere my phone is starting to act up. At seemingly random times my phone will either freeze or hang or just generally not respond, the navigation buttons disappear and holding down the power button will not let me shut the phone down. The first few times it happened a message would pop up telling me that some process or app is not responding and I have the option to either wait or force close it. Normally I just tap "Ok," and then a slew of messages pop up, basically every process and app crashes simultaneously, forcing me to restart by holding down Vol up and Power. When it powers back on everything works fine again, but sometimes it will do this as much as 4 times a day. It doesn't seem to matter what I am doing at the time or what apps I have open. Sometimes I will go to unlock my phone and it will be stuck on the lock screen (I can lock and unlock the phone fine but no navigation buttons are visible and I can't tap on anything). It seems like now it will just say "Xperia Home is not responding" and I am again forced to restart.
Not sure if this is what you mean by SOD, but it is quite frustrating seeing as everything worked flawlessly about two weeks post updating.
I am using the Xperia TL (LT30at) 4.1.2 build 9.1.F.1.120 Kernal version 3.4.0
Locked base band since it is the AT&T version
Never tried rooting or modding my phone

I flash to FXP and i get endless reboot and freezing. I like what the folks at FXP does but i can't seem to solve my problem after a week. I just flash back to stock ROM and (god forbid) i have not seen any reboot or freezing the past 8hrs. if u are on custom ROM, consider going back stock.

Yes am updated to JB and rooted.
Since i removed the class 10 SD card, No SODs....not even once.
Only thing is that sometimes, when unplugging the charger, the phone does not get the event right away and charging light stays on. After a couple of minutes it goes back to normal.
At least no SODs....

No, like I said I have never tried modding or rooting my phone. I am on stock JB firmware from whenever I updated my phone a few weeks ago. ICS never had any issues like this, JB never had any issues until two week into the update. I'm just confused as to what happens to make these issues occur, I mean, everything was working fine and then for no reason something is causing my apps to crash and my phone to freeze? Doesn't make sense to me...
ok so i got my htc one a couple of days ago and it sees to have a serious problem!
Basically the phone goes through stages of random vibrating every few mins to full on constant vibrating like there is a fan or motor buzzing in there. It even does it if the phone is switched off! Ive just had an episode of it vibrating no stop for 10 mins, didnt make a difference when i switched it off or when i factory reset it!
It seems to overheat or something and only stopped doing it after i had just left it for a while. I have tried to speak with htc about it but they were useless and had no suggestions what soever.
I really need some help here, i bought the phone privately and to all intense purposes it seemed like brand new

No cant exchange it, only option i might have if i cant get the problem ressolved on here would be to send it to htc for repair but can take up to 2 weeks.
when i got the phone it was still on 4.1 and told me update available to 4.2 so i did that. Thats all i have done , apart from unlocking it from 02 using a code.
its almost like on a computer when its being worked hard etc that you here the fan cut in, thats what it seems like except it sounds like the buzz you get when you first start the phone. sometimes it does this just once every few mins or so, other times it will start doing it and not stop...even when switched off.....everything else on the phone seems to work fine

Did the device get wet at some point? Sounds like a hardware problem if a factory reset didn't solve the problem.
There's a slight chance it could be a real bad app or an issue with the rom. Maybe running a stock RUU for your device if you can find it might help.
Pretty sure it hasent got wet .
Would be happy to put stock Rom back on it but not sure how I go about reflashing it .
Don't know if this normal or not but when I did a factory reset I thought the device would be wiped completely, all my pictures and videos etc however when I set it back up again I found some videos on there still that I had downloaded to the phone off the net.
Maybe it's not wiping itself correctly either?

Resetting the device should wipe everything and bring it to the same condition as new.
Go to settings>>Backup & Reset>>Reset phone>>now check "Erase all data", then tap "OK".
If that doesn't work, try to do a factory reset from the bootloader.

Factory reset will wipe the device but leave the contents of the sdcard untouched which explains why your vids are still there
Appreciate the help guys, thankyou
So, is there any benifit to wiping the device completely over and above what I've done allready?
Today the phone has just done the odd sudden vibration as if you were just booting up, around 5 times in total, nowhere near as bad as last night, don't know why that would be.
Would it be possible to reflash standard firmware?
Is so how would I do it. Phone is completley standard and was in 4.1 prior to the ota update to 4.2, could 4.2 be the problem?

I'd try it. You can back up your pics and music on your PC via HTC Sync first.
Ok so I have tried it but no joy
Still getting the random buzzing/vibration for no apparent reason.
Could it be a bug with the update to 4.2.2?
Can I go back to 4.1?

Don't think it's a bug with 4.2.2 but a hardware issue.
Couple of other things to try ; download "CID Getter" from the play store, run it and find out your device's CID number. Now search on Google or xda for the RUU for your device's CID number. Download the RUU.exe to your pc, connect your phone to the pc and run the RUU.exe. This will bring the phone back to stock 4.1..
Or you can unlock the bootloader and flash another rom. Step by step instructions can be found on xda
Sorry, don't know of any easy solutions.

ok so just to update this....
last night i have tried the standard google edition rom on my phone and for the first few hours all seemed fine untill 4am this morning when i was woked by the phone doing its random vibrating thing...it was just sat by the side of my bed on charge
Can only think it must be a hardware issue now...but still dont know what or what is triggering it

You tried everything so it's has to be a hardware issue. Maybe the vibration starts when the device gets warm. Sorry we couldn't fix it.

My HTC one has been doing the same thing. Vibrating randomly even when powered down. Brought it back to Sprint and had them order me a new phone. The only way to stop it from vibrating when powered down was to bang it on a hard surface, then it would stop. Crazy!
Vibrating non stop
My HTC One had been vibrating cotinuously too. I kept slapping the upper part of the phone to stop it from vibrating. However, this worked for the initial few days only. Later, it continued to vibrate continuously without stopping at all ! In the night I left the phone in the other room while it was still vibrating and the next morning the phone wouldn't charge at all! Now the phone is not booting/ charging. It is dead! Any leads?
EDIT: I slapped the upper part again, it suddenly woke up from the dead! It is charging now, the LED is red too!! But it is still continuously vibrating. I have left it to charge as of now, but please help with this vibrating problem. Any ideas?
I've had the same issue with my M7 today.
There were no software updates or any new apps lately.
It all emerged when i was pressing the home button (to exit from some app) and at the same time an incomming call started.
I have tried:
switching it off - did not help
Changing volume setting silent\vibe\sound a couple of times - no effect
Soft reset - no help
Hard reset - no help
Slapping with upper side of the phone against my had - helped for some time, the it started again
Seems like hardware issue.
Currently working solution for me:
Switch off the option "Vibrate on keypress" in Settings ==> Sound & notification
UPD: had to turn off all the vibrations
So far so good. Apparently there is some issue with vibe motor, and it just does not stop. I assume that by disabling that option it is not getting started and thus no constant vibe follows.
UPD 2 Fixed:
Issue reoccurred on hitting the device against my palm.
Had to disassemble it, there are a couple of instructions on youtube, i used plastic cards.
Motor was spinning even with a switched off device. Had to unplug and plug the motor a couple of times and it helped.
Turned on all vibrations in settings, no issues so far.
Hope that helps.
Hey XDA,
I hope you guys can help me with this annoying problem I am having with my Xperia V.
Two weeks ago I flashed UniQue3 on my phone since I was pretty satisfied with the previous version and I wanted to try the new one. (I had stock installed before that, since it had android 4.3).
Then crazy stuff started happening: My phone would just reboot when I was typing a message or browsing the web. No biggy, this happened before sometime as well. This time it was different. It happened constantly. I could not use Whatsapp for longer than 5 min before my phone just rebooted. Funny thing is this only happened when I was not charging it. It happened while charging it as well, but not nearly as often, maybe once every 5 hours.
My phone would not shut down either if I did not use my screen. I can listen to music for hours without it rebooting, but as soon as I try to answer or even read a message my phone reboots...
So I thought it might be the ROM. I installed CyanogenMod and at first it was better. But after two days everything started again. I am really confused as to what is wrong and I can't find a proper answer online. Some say it's Android 4.3, others say it's the battery.
So I was hoping you guys could help me out.
Greetings,
Krytos.
Try flashing the stock Rom and see if the problem still happens

Yeah, that's what I thought. Gladly I bought a battery like three days ago, so I hope that will fix my issues.
maybe hardware problem of battery or even board.
Try to lock boot loader if it is open.
