Hey guys. I recently unlocked my Xperia TL (LT30at) and want to move over to T-Mobile. Since the bootloader can't be unlocked on this phone, what ROMs would you recommend and how would I set it up to work with the T-Mobile basebands?

I wonder if you can just flash a stock FTF rom (that is, say, generic LT30p) but just exclude the baseband portion - would the rom know to work with the AT&T baseband you're keeping?
I know that with my LT30a (Bell), I can flash generic LT30p FTF stock roms (fully, including the baseband) and still get LTE (by going into the dialer and doing the *#*#4636#*#*, then Phone Info, and choosing LTE/GSM/WCDMA). But -- It's a LT30a, not an LT30at. Is AT&T that specific in their baseband needs?
Sorry if this isn't helpful... but hey, if you have your stock AT&T FTF (which you can find easily in this forum), why not try one? ( a generic LT30p FTF)... I don't think that would brick the phone. If you find it's not working, you can flash back to your AT&T FTF and be back to normal. Just make sure your battery is full before you begin.
Also, if you're going to be flashing FTF's for the first time, read up on everything you need first (base drivers via pc companion? latest flashtool? the drivers that are located in the folder where flashtool is installed? - and if you're using Windows 8 or 8.1, there will be an extra step or 2 to get those flashtool drivers working properly).
I thank you very much for taking the time out to answer my query! Since the phone is AT&T-branded and unlocked, it supports MOST of T-Mobile's basebands AFAIK (some LTE ones aren't supported). Flashing a LT30p stock ROM works, but I'm not sure how well it plays with T-Mobile. That's what I'm trying to figure out here, specifically. This phone has to be one of the most confusing phones I've ever dealt with when it comes to what can and can't be flashed over, having to reflash the Recovery after flashing a ROM, being stuck with a locked bootloader, etc.
Either way, I do wanna keep this thread updated with my findings. I'm spending way too many hours on this phone though, unfortunately. I REALLY wish the bootloader could be unlocked. I'm tempted to sell the thing and buy something a little more open, unfortunately.
EDIT: So I've flashed over this ROM and its nice to get rid of the AT&T bloatware on the phone. I've still gotta look further into alternate ROMs and whatnot. It appears some people have had better luck flashing Europe-based ROMs over to the phone (they support a wider range of basebands).
EDIT2:

Here's the problem: Bands 1700 and 2100mHz aren't showing up, which are needed for 3G/4G on T-Mobile. I know this phone supports them, I'm just not sure what to flash to get them to show up. Also UMTS - BC4 is also necessary for T-Mobile to get anything more than Edge (2G) coverage.

This works on ANY Xperia arc.
Your arc does NOT have to be rooted.
Your arc does NOT have to be bootloader unlocked.
This does NOT re-lock a SIM unlocked phone (unlocking is ONCE and PERMANENT).
This does NOT unlock your bootloader.
This WILL wipe your phone & root. Backup first.
You MUST have BOTH PC Companion and Update Service installed. MIRROR: http://jp1.ca/androidstuff
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?uen7h027tc0ci (264.51 MB, single flashtool file)
Please do NOT mirror files.
wow, a rogers branded 2.3.4?? holy shizz hell must have frozen over.
going to try this now.
Thanks! Been waiting months for this!
How is the signal on this rom for a rogers branded arc?? I have the world generic rom on my phone now and under battery use graph it shows 80% RED no signal....I wonder if the rogers rom for a rogers branded arc will fix that issue!...
Ive been using this since yesterday afternoon and the signal has been great! I found that with the older fw the phone lost signal from time to time... I also updated via pc companion
Sent from my LT15a using XDA App
this rom has been running pretty good. not sure what tweaks or improvements that this rom uses on the actual rogers branded ARC (or could be placebo effect), but the automatic pick up of rogers signal seems better as the WWW version always has a hard time trying to figure out which carrier to pick when i travel back into canada from the us.
just use titanium back up to get rid of the useless rogers apps and youre good to go!
I am not trying to hijack this thread but maybe ask the OP if you have the Generic North America on .42? I have searched the forum but nothing with Lt15a came up for new result. Also you may add Lt15a to your post title so it comes on search.
Cheers,

I am very new at this maybe I am not looking the right thing.
Please help me I need to use my phone again
What country are you in? It really doesn't matter necessarily what you download. I'm in the United States so of course I'm not going to have one for the international note so I just used Open Germany.
I Am in Canada
You mean I can use any of the downloads it will work?
I was thinking that I absolutely need to download the same as my baseband
I am just affraid to screw up

Yeah. The baseband is totally separate. That's your modem and you just have to find one that works best for you, but its separate from the ROM.

I think i am confused, that mean I could install a different modem (Phone button in ODIN) ?
Where can I get these ? peraps thats my only problem in ICS, everything is fine except the sound of the phone. Maybe I should try a different Modem before going back to GB?

Sorry, I'm confusing you.
Okay for the ROM itself: Put the file in the PDA section in Odin.
For a baseband/modem: there is a thread in the android development section with all the modems. You can download the zip and flash it in CWM. A GB modem CAN work in ICS and vice versa. I'm using LPT but it affects people differently depending on where you are.
Thank you
Thank you for your help Andrew . you put me on the right track. I have now a working ICS on My note and everything works perfectly, even calls
Hi all,
This is my first Xperia phone, having been on Samsung for my last two. I know the update procedures very well on the SGS2, but am a but daunted with the Xperia process, so just want to confirm a few points before I do anything.
My phone is bootloader unlocked - it was the first thing I did as I knew it would be wiped.
I am on SIM Free UK Generic .350 firmware, so would like to update to the new .434 version now its available.
I am aware that with the unlocked bootloader I need to use EMMA to update, not PC Companion. I am also aware that EMMA will wipe the device.
Am I right in understanding that if I use the Flashtool from the dev thread, that I can flash the .434 FTF file, but without wiping the whole phone in the process ?
Thanks in advance, I appreciate that this has been asked a dozen times and did try searching on a number of keywords, but I couldn't see a clear, concise answer and I really don't want to mess things up totally!
Cheers guys

I'm not 100% sure about unlocked BL and using the flashtool (if flashing works with unlocked BL with flashtool). I know with flashtool you can choose to keep data and settings or not.

Thanks! I have just performed the update with those options disabled, and all seems well - .434 is reported in the About phone and everything seems to be working as before, so this is more to confirm that Flashtool does work with the unlocked bootloader. Appreciate the reply!

Thank you as well because I didn't know whether it would work with a unlocked BL, and now I know,
I just have a quick question about the firmware on my SP (C5302, Bought through Cincinnati Bell and it is carrier locked). I keep seeing things on here about the latest firmware for root and roms etc, so I check mine and its still on 12.0.A.1.257. I have checked via ota and pc companion and it says I am up to date. I have heard the later firmware fixed the weak wifi signal and a few other things. Am I able to use the new firmware or am I stuck on the older one?
If i am able to use the latest firmware what would be the best way to switch to it?.
Thanks in advance

Hi guys,
I need root access on my M7 so I can stream spotify over DLNA. I've never done anything like this before and I'm struggling to find a guide that explains everything so hopefully you can help. As it stands my device is as normal (up to date on EE network)
Given i only need root access for the DLNA, im not even sure how far I have to take this - whether I need a custom ROM or not etc. Ideally I would like to keep the ability to get OTA updates, although obviously dont care about EE branding.
Any and all help is appreciates. Also I'm an experienced programmer, so don't worry about me being 'squeamish around PCs' etc, although by all means explain all you can
cheers!

so basically you'll need to
unlock the bootloader
flash a custom recovery
root from custom recovery
unlocking the bootloader will wipe your phone so backup your data before.
unlocking the bootloader will also wipe some HTC preloaded apps in /data/media/preload so you will not be able to use ota update unless you restore all these files after unlocking the bootloader.
you should post your question in the "q&a" subforum next time not in "general"
Ahhh thank you! I didn't even notice that button there when I was looking!
Is there a way to get OTA updates reenabled? I've read it can be done but nowhere explains how. Something about changing an ID code on the phone?
Also, can I back up what I have in some way in case I want to undo it?

Don't know what youre talking about but no
for ota update your need
stock CID that match your software version
stock MID that match your software version
100% stock rom (untouched /system partition and /data/media/preload)
firmware and software version must match together
