[Q] Lost LTE - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Two weeks ago I have bought used HTC One from AT&T. It was working ok for 2 weeks in Poland with 4G. Yesterday I rooted this phone with newest ARHD rom, and now I have only 3g data transfer and it is also slower than usual. When I was using stock rom I always had 4G or EDGE icon, and transfer was very fast (on 4G).
Anyone had this issue before?
Thanks,
Narsel.

Have you checked your preferred network type?
Dial *#*#4636#*#* to open the test menu, then tap on ''phone information'' and make sure ''preferred notwork type'' is set to ''GMS/WCDMA/LTE auto''
Also check your apn settings:
Settings ---> Mobile data ---> access point name ---> your carrier apn
Check that all values match your carrier apn. (you can found those values on your carrier website)

There is no chance to change this settings?

[Q] N1 + Fido + 3G

Hi,
I just got my N1 and I'm very disappointed. As soon as I got it i updated to 2.2. For some reason I can't get 3G, it defaults to Edge. Does anyone know of a way to work around it so I can get my 3G speed?
Thanks In advance
Did you make sure your ordered the right N1? For Fido I would think you need the Rogers AT&T model as opposed to the T-Mobile one.
Also go into your dialer, type *#*#4636#*#*, go to phone information and loo at Set preferred network type and see what it says there but those things rarely get changed, if it doesn't say WCDMA preferred that'd be weird unless you wee already tinkering with the settings.
If it says GSM only than that would be your issue, set it to GSM Auto (PRL) which generally gives better battery than WCDMA preferred. Alternatively you can test setting it to WCDMA only which would force it into 3G mode but then if you don't pick up a 3G signal, you won't get anything at all which is what im betting will happen in your case.
Thanks.
It was set to WCDMA prefered. I set it to GSM auto like you suggested.
So are you saying there's nothing I can do to get 3G to work on this phone with Fido?
You can also try double checking the APN settings. Here is how:
1. Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
2. Press the Menu button > New APN
3. Name: set it to anything like "Fido 3G"
4. APN: internet.fido.ca
5. Usename: fido
6. Password: fido
7. APN Type: default
8. Leave everything else as is
9. Press Menu button > Save
10. Now from the list, tap the radio button next to this new APN created.
Give it couple minutes, and it should switch to 3G.
Let me know if that fixes it.
Already tried that and it didn't make a difference.
Thanks

That's it, most probably. Especially if you have the Developer N1 (you just got it, so if you got it new, you definitely got a wrong one).
In this case, you'll see no 3G.
I believe after the 2.2 update, The APN is automatically generated by the phone.

No 3G with Darky's Rom 10.1

I finished installing Darky's 10.1 Extreme Mod onto my Samsung Galaxy S the other day, and since then I have not had any connection to a 3G network.
I live in Australia and my phone carrier is Virgin Mobile running on the Optus Network. Before I flashed over from a Voodoo Lag Fixed stock 2.2, 3G worked fine.
I have checked in the wireless and networks setting to make sure the phone is set to "Use packet data" under mobile networks (Data roaming is turned off), but it makes no difference. I have also turned packet data off and on to make sure. Network Mode is set to GSM/WCDMA (auto mode). During setup for Darky's Rom, I left the Modem to defualt settings, JQ1 or something.
I'm not sure what I have broken but I'd love some help getting 3G back. It is very limiting to what a good smart phone can do.
Thanks
which model of I9000 u have? most likely is a modem problem i installed GB in my GT-I9000T and i had to go back to froyo cuz i didnt had 3G and low network reception...i recommend you to wait for more versions of GB come out if that is your case...

So far as I can tell from the About Phone settings page, it is just a plain GT-I9000 with a Baseband of I9000XXJVO. Though I can't remember what it said before the flash.

There is nothing in the APN Settings. Should there be names?
More Info
I looked up the APN settings for Virgin Mobile Australia and entered them into the phone but when I saved the new APN it didn't appear in the list. Just gone.
I inserted the SIM Card into an unmodified Samsung Galaxy TAB in which I have used this SIM card in the past. Still can't get 3G on the TAB, and there was no settings in the APN section. Could be a problem with the SIM card?
I also used a feature on virgin mobiles website to send the APN settings to the phone but they return an error when trying to send me the settings.
virginmobile com au/internet-on-your-mobile-phone/the-vibe/get-set-up
Oddly enough if I just enter in the name of the network and no other details, it does save the APN correctly and works fine again. Sweet
Thanks though all.

Just as I suspected. Those are the 3G settings for your network. If you used Titanium Backup those settings are under [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage, just restore and reboot your phone and thats it.

[Q] My Global unlock experience, and confusion

Yesterday I decided to get a global simcard from Orange network in Austria. I only want the data since I have no one to call here. I got my unlock code from verizon, pluged in my new sim card and entered the unlock pin provided by the new sim card. I did not get a pop up to enter my verizon unlock code. I bounced back and forth between Stock and MavRom 4.5 using safestrap 3.05. My service bar showed that I was getting signal but I couldnt figure out why the data was not working. While running mavrom I browsed through to Settings > Wireless & network settings > Mobile networks. At this point I was prompted to enter my SIM unlock code that was issued to me by verizon. Without much hesitation I entered the number and was not prompted again, everything looks just fine. My APN settings show that Orange AT is my apn name. the APN is locked which is slightly confusing. My data still is not working properly, I modified my build.prop with
ro.telephony.default.network=0
ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone=0
Next, I was still not having success. After some google searches I saw suggestions to try some kind of APN manager. To my surprise Tweakker successfully set my APN and gave me the Orange AT data service. Tweakker somehow unlocked the APN as well as added its own 2 APNs.
Why was MavRom successfully able to unlock my SIM? or has it actually unlocked my sim?
Tweakker does not have root. In a perfect world I would like to not have tweakker installed to keep the system as minimal as possible. What is allowing tweakker to magically set up my APN? and is it possible to do this manually?
REVISION - I mimicked the APN settings that tweakker had set, I also looked up the setting for Orange AT on their website. I am still lost as to what the proper APN Type should be for a strictly internet device. currently i have that set as "default".
How does one lock/unlock APN settings?
0try putting your apn settings in /etc/apns-conf.xml
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
It sounds like it was unlocked but the APN wasn't working right. Sometimes after installing a new ROM on my 883 radio I have to set the APN manually.

I tried adding my APN to this file, this did not add my network even after a reboot. could safestrap be getting in the way of the right file being edited?

I did not flash my radio, but yes I did set the APN manually and this did work for me. however I cannot figure out how to unlock / relock a preconfigured APN.
1) Is the network GSM? In that case use ro.telephony.default.network=3 not 0.
2) Also try turning ON/OFF airplane mode if you use stock rom.
3) Make sure your apns-conf.xml has the right data, also try using APN-type "default" not something else
If all fails, how old is your SIMcard? I had to get a new SIMcard to get data to work on my droid 3 even though it worked before in my old samsung

This happened to me a few months ago. The phone is definitely capable and you will get LTE signals on the $60/month GoPhone plan.
1. First of all, call GoPhone customer support (611 from the phone) and confirm that they have your HTC One whitelisted for LTE. They're going to double check with you your phone's IMEI number (they can already see it, but will ask you for it anyway), and then confirmed that the phone is allowed to get LTE signals. They're also going to double check your APN setting and provide you with the appropriate entries for AT&T.
2. Reboot and see if you now get LTE signals. If you still don't get it, check whether your mobile network settings is set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto instead of GSM/WCDMA Auto or WCDMA Preferred (or maybe something else). If you don't see any LTE option, dial *#*#4636#*#* from your dialer, and in the first drop down box choose 'GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto' or anything with LTE just to make sure you can catch LTE signals at all. If you were able to find and switch to the setting you want, exit out, and go back to that menu, double checking if the setting sticks. If it does, reboot and try again.
3. Most people will get LTE signals after #1 above, while some were only able to get it after #2. However if you are unlucky like me, the LTE setting does not show up in mobile network and no matter what I do in the hidden menu, the setting won't stick (it's stuck on GSM/WCDMA Auto). I actually tried flashing a different radio at this point (a newer AT&T radio), but still... no LTE for me. What solved this finally for me is that I flashed a custom ROM (in my case it was ARHD 12.2). This enabled me to choose GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto under mobile network settings, and after that I was able to get LTE. It was great! :good:
Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

No Data on EE after sense 6 update

Hiya, I am running a completely stock HTC one that is unlocked/sim free
Last week I updated to Sense 6 whilst in the US and now I have arrived back in the UK today I have no data connection
When I turn on mobile data it tells me the APN settings are incorrect
I have tried to add a manual APN as per online instructions but when I save it it simply disappears and there is no way of editing the current EE APN
It's not the Sim as it works ok in another phone
Any suggestions??

Yup, I had the same problem, even Vodafone themselves couldn't answer this, they are useless, go into apn settings and where the 3 dot menu is at the top, don't select new apn, select reset to defaults and it will take you through network settings and operator settings wizard
