I have a rooted 4.4 Moto X (non dev version so unlocked bootloader). I can't enable it in the Settings for hangouts (the option is there, but when I click it nothing happens).
I have a few things greenified and frozen in titanium so turned off greenify and unfroze a few things, rebooted, still no change.
I uninstalled the Hangouts app, cleared data and cache, and tried again. Still click it but nothing happens.
Any ideas? thanks in advance

Thanks. Under System Settings the only option of default messaging is 'Messaging'. Hangouts is not listed

Mine also lists titanium backup as an option, though i believe it is because i had it restore my texts. Sounds like something is messed up with the system, might need a factory reset.

Did you update the latest hangouts and turned on SMS from hangouts then it asks if you want hangouts as default messaging. If not try disabling it which will downgrade it and update it after and try again.

yes I went through and uninstalled updates, and then it updated again in google play store. The OPTION is there to enable it, but when I tap it nothing happens. After it upgraded hangouts, it came up with the 'do you want to enable SMS in hangouts' screen, but again clicks "Yes I'm in" did nothing

Will that lose my root? Should I wipe the cache also?
Thanks for the replies, really appreciated.

Rooted non dev VZW Moto X, want to try and freeze the notification to pull the OTA. I froze "updater" in TiBu and I still get it. I also disabled notifications for framework in the apps list and I still get it. Any other suggestions?

I have XT1053 and not Verizon version. I froze MotorolaOTA 1.0 in TiBu and it took care of update notifications for me. My coworker has Verizon DE edition and it worked for him too. Is that the app that you froze?

Are there any other apps that can freeze beside TiBu? I don't have the donate version.

I used TiBu so can't help you. It was worth the $6 to me. But you can just download root browser and navigate to /system/priv-app then press and hold 3c_ota.apk and select rename. Rename it 3c_ota.apk.bak. Then when or if you want to take the OTA, just rename it back to 3c_ota.apk.
Also, you can use root browser to delete the OTA file from /cache. Navigate to /cache and find the OTA and then press and hold then select delete.

I'm not sure if it's possible like that but if you try to push it some sec on the notification you have information about the application or something like that, select it then choose disable.
Yes, you can, on unrooted device go to Apps > All > Update Center and Clear Cache and Stop the Application. The notification will disappear but when you will Reboot your phone, it will be back and you will have to repeat the process.
or
Install Root Uninstaller, Root needed, and Disable the Application, it will be Frozen. No more notifications.
I use the Xposed module NotifyClean for this very purpose.

It's not possible to simply disable notifications instead disabling all the app in the app settings?
goto
settings/apps/all/update centre
then untick the option to show notifications
no root needed

Is not working, again. I did this 10 times before give up and I do this again to let you see that I already tried.
Wi-Fi on, I reboot my phone, the notification appear on notificatiuon Bar. I go to Apps > All > Update Center and I FORCE STOP, the notification disappear, the option Show Notifications still Hided. Then I clear Data and Cache too, nothing.
To be sure I disable Wi-Fi and reboot, the application running again but no notification (of curse wi-fi off) then I repeat the process, Apps > All > Update center, Force Stop, nothing, the option still hided.
This is what I talking about.
Maybe they changed that on 4.4, sorry I still on 4.3, but to me should not make any difference as the application have his own version.
Well, my update centre is version
2.2.0.A.0.8
Maybe you should update the update centre to that...

Same here, cannot untick it, it's grayed out, but I just cleared the data in Update Center app, and done. Notification gone, it comes back but after a long while (I've deleted data and it's been two weeks since the notification hasn't appeared) or in the case of a phone restart or if you refresh the app in the app drawer, forcing it to re-check for an update.

That's why on 4.3 with Update Center v2.1.1.A.0.10 is better to Disable the App, but to do that you have to be Rooted and have Root Uninstaller installed.

I don't want to disable the app, because I still want to get notifications about Sony's apps. I just clear data, and let the application still run. And I still don't have root and don't yet feel the need to do it.
Hello all,
Posting here as the Sony support are pretty useless,
Everytime I talk to them for help their o ly solution is to repair/reset my phone which wipes everything on it
So just a quick question this website won't load
aspworldtour .com
Tried on chrome and Firefox. Reset my cache and data too.
Restarted the phone. Nothing worked
Tried using the mobile and desktop version.. Both don't load.
Used my friends iPhone and galaxy 5, website loads properly.
Any thoughts?
I'm using Android 4.4.4 and rooted it too.
Thanks
Anton
Loads fine for me on Chrome. Do you have any ad blocker installed? If you're rooted, what's the problem with a factory reset? You can easily backup/restore using Titanium.

Yup I figured it must've been the ad blocker. so i disabled it and refreshed my hosts file. Thanks though!
On a side note, if i factory reset my phone, how do i use titanium to restore it to how it is now? and would the restore install everything back in too?

Glad to hear it's working anyway!
Here is a rough guide. Basically you would usually want to backup and restore all user apps with data. Additionally some system data (the items in green) like contacts, Wi-Fi access points, accounts etc, but not the system apps themselves.
I unlocked throught sunshine and receive the ota zip. Then I factory reset my moto x. However, many apps randomly FC including launcher.
Anyone has an idea?
Edit1: I am on AT&T
Edit2: I figured out a way to reproduce the launcher FC: pull different app icons to the "app info" on top of the launcher (original launcher). The launcher sometimes gets FC after you enter the app info page.
Try to clear your cache trough recovery.

You must have a conflicting app.
Do a safe boot, at the first logo, hold vol down.
Btw, I use app install history from play to have an uninstall plan when this happens.

It restores the whole phone, much more than the sys/boot of a nandroid.

I am having a very weird issue. Running a rooted 5.1.1 (build LMY47Z) Nexus 6. I recently began encountering issues with sending MMS. SMS and Hangout messages work just fine. At first, some messages would not come through and I would have to download them. However, now, no messages come in and I cannot send any MMS group messages.
I have tried disabling the recent update, switching to the native messaging app, clearing the cache and data for the app, and reinstalling the updates, but nothing has worked.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.
UPDATE
I went into recovery and wiped dalvik and cache. Getting this error now "Unkown Issue with Google Play Services"
More updates
I have resolved the Google Play Services Issue. Disabled it and then updated it.
Still has not fixed the MMS issue.
Someone please help
Another update
Ok, so now, after wiping once again, I am getting the message not receive "download" prompt, but they still aren't coming through.
I have no idea what to do here.

If you can access and change APN settings, Google search the correct APN settings for your region. Perhaps that may help. Also, under settings>more>cellular networks>carrier settings, what options are available? I'm on Sprint so I'm not sure what options are there for AT&T.
Also, +1 for the comment above mine. Forgot about that one.
