anytime i try to install a rom the phone will get stuck at multiple "process has stopped working" notifications that just keep repeating. the only way to get anything to work is to go back to a stock rom. am i missing something? i have twrp 2.6.3.3 installed

Did you dirty flash it? When switching roms, ALWAYS wipe data/cache/dalvik before installing any rom. If you are at stock and switching to a non stock based rom, definitely wipe data/cache/dalvik, or else you will run into problems just like this.

Sounds like you are not wiping system, are you?
I always full wipe any ROM, you especially want to going to stock from aosp or vice versa.
Go Intl advance wipe and clear cache, dalvek, system, and data.
NEVER wipe internal

so im new to the android world please be gentle. i just got my nexus one today trying to get it rooted so that i can get the modacos desire rom up and running. so far using these instructions
http://theunlockr.com/2010/01/08/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-nexus-one/
ive gotten the phone to reboot with a padlock at the bottom, it will let me run torch so i assumed it was rooted. i put both nandroid folder and the sense ui rom zip files but when i try to put the phone into recovery mode it gives me the android dude and an exlamation mark. sorry if this is a common problem or i missed some simple instructions. thanks for any help.
Sounds like you did step I on that page, but might have missed step II completely and didn't flash the custom recovery rom.
Try here instead for a full tutorial on the exact steps needed to get to the Desire rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636795
But you can skip the unlocking of the bootloader, as it seems you got that done.
amazing! thank you
hey ive tried a couple different methods but cant seem to get rid of this com.google.process.gapps message after i enter my google info. ive removed everything from my memory card. wiped a hundred times, flashed several diffent roms. it popped up first on the newest cyogen rom after installing a couple of programs, not sure which one did it. is there a way to manually clear the google info on the phone because it seems to be stored in there. thanks
So I'm assuming you already got recovery... Did you wipe data / cache / dalvik before flashing the ROM? Did you also flash Gapps? Give that a try. That should help.
yeah i wipe all the devlik/ cache along with regular wipe each time before a install. what is gapps?
GoogleApps.

cool that did it, back to cyogen, wish the desire rom was as fast as the cyogen. thanks for the help man!
if theres a desire status bar i want to install can i just flash the zip or do i have to back everything up do a wipe and install everything all over again?
Yes, you can flash themes over the ROM without wiping, as long as the theme is compatible with the ROM.

You need to use the Odin 1 click posted by DG in the development thread, it is the correct way to get back to stock from CM7.

Have you tried going into the recovery menu and wipe data and cache, wipe cache, go into advanced and wipe dalvich cache. Then go back to Install from sdcard and choose the rom again and reflash from there. If you are planning on staying on the same rom you shouldn't have to flash back to stock. After performing the steps above it should wipe out any remnants of your apps and data that you restored. Then when you reflash you should be back to stock.
Also did you ever do a nandroid backup? That would get you back to a working state if you did a backup and now restore it.

How many times a week does this same question need to be asked. How do you not see the sticky about this? Oh yeah, it's because YOU AREN'T LOOKING FOR IT OR DIDN'T DO A SEARCH!
Running stable CM 7.0.3 with CWM 3.0.0.5
I've been getting some intermittent freezes waking from sleep, seems to be worse when the battery is getting low. Maybe it is a Launcher Pro issue? as that is my home and the culprit program when the Force Close or Wait dialogue pops up
I wanted to upgrade to v176 of our CM nightly to see if maybe that'd help but I can't seem to get past the white screen'd/green htc logo
Upgraded my CWM to latest ... nothing
Tried an Amon_RA recovery ... nothing
Re-downloaded latest gapps and tried multiple 'newer' roms multiple times ... nothing
Any ideas here? I used the two wipe everything scripts (only one works in CWM) multiple times before each effort to no avail
Restored from backup and I'm on 7.0.3 again but progress, even on this legacy device (thanks devs!) would be pretty sweet as I've been wanting to pitch it into a wall lately
...paitently waiting on the Epic Touch 4G or iPhone for Sprint, thanks all

I like to actually wipe instead of flashing a wipe. Try flashing the nightly on top of your current one, just wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing.

+1. I would go into recovery (I use CWM) and format system, cache, data, boot and then flash whatever rom you are trying to flash. Also, give it some time to boot up. Some roms can take a while. You can try the flashover too as Dastin suggested.
Are you using any tweaks like firerat's? There can be issues with that if your system partition is too small
Good luck!
That is a good idea
Keep rolling back versions of the ROM I want to try until something sticks.
Update the 'new' ROM to the latest version.
In the meantime, I've updated to CWM 4.0.1.5 and wiped everything possible at least twice. Plus a format all script. I will let you know if this does it for me
I still have not been able to flash any other roms, the only thing I can do is change recoveries and do nandroid restores. I am using the latest herodeck rom which is based on the CM roms. Hopefully someone will be able to help us.
And sorry about making a new post I was thinking that we were using different roms but I guess that they are actually pretty close to being the same.
Hi XDA-Devs
New to Android and flashing ROMs, and I I'm afraid I've done something wrong. I flashed to a Google Edt. custom ROM, and worked fine. I forgot to do something ith my old stock ROM, so I wanted to install my backup I made with twrp recovery, but I think I deleted it when I did a data wipe. So I DL'ed Mike1986's HTC One stock ROM and flashed it, and installed the stock recovery.
Now when I turn on my phone, I start on an window saying "A personalize update is available". What worries me is the popup notifications saying "Ufortunately, Talk has stopped", "Messages has stopped unexpectedly", "Unfortunately, Google Play has stopped", "com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly" and the last one saying "com.android.acore has stopped unexpectedly". The last one constantly pops up each time I press the "Don't send" button when it asks me if I want to make a report.
Can anyone please help me understand all this? Tried googling around, but haven't found any having the same problem. Hope someone can help an new and helpless android user.
Boot into recovery, do a wipe/factory reset, wipe the Dalvik cache and format /system, then flash ARHD (I assume that's what you're referring to when you said the ROM by Mike1986) and that should fix it. It sounds like you've just flashed a different base without properly wiping beforehand.

I used the odexed version before. ARHD isn't a stock ROM, right?

ARHD is a deodexed custom-rom with stock appearance.
I had Chroma rom installed and did an dirty flash to the 4/29 update. I had dirty flashed many times before each time there was an update. After updating, the screen would go black and be unresponsive. I then reflashed it to see if it would fix the issue, also wiped cache and dalvik. After flashing and rebooting, it would only boot up half way, then just turn black. It never booted all the way up. I then restored a nandroid of stock rooted LRX22C I had and it booted up. After thinking it was just the rom, I tried Bliss Pop, same result, boots up halfway then black screen.
Does anyone have an idea as to why it won't boot up fully? And also any ideas how to fix this issue? Thank you in advance

I would suggest a full wipe minus internal, then reflash the ROM.

Should I do a full restore? Or just bootloader, radio, and system?

Well, if it's not too much trouble, I'd suggest a full restore. That way, if the problem persists, you know it's hardware related and you're already set up for RMA or whatever. Just my ¢2.

I had the same problem, wipe the dalvik, cache again and then do the factory wipe and install the stock rom again. You should be good to go, it took me a couple times before It worked again.
