I had Chroma rom installed and did an dirty flash to the 4/29 update. I had dirty flashed many times before each time there was an update. After updating, the screen would go black and be unresponsive. I then reflashed it to see if it would fix the issue, also wiped cache and dalvik. After flashing and rebooting, it would only boot up half way, then just turn black. It never booted all the way up. I then restored a nandroid of stock rooted LRX22C I had and it booted up. After thinking it was just the rom, I tried Bliss Pop, same result, boots up halfway then black screen.
Does anyone have an idea as to why it won't boot up fully? And also any ideas how to fix this issue? Thank you in advance

I would suggest a full wipe minus internal, then reflash the ROM.

Well, if it's not too much trouble, I'd suggest a full restore. That way, if the problem persists, you know it's hardware related and you're already set up for RMA or whatever. Just my ¢2.

I had the same problem, wipe the dalvik, cache again and then do the factory wipe and install the stock rom again. You should be good to go, it took me a couple times before It worked again.

G1 is stuck on T-Mobile G1 screen for over 10 mins HELP! I wiped everything.
If you want help, I recommend telling us specifically what you did (what Hero you were on, what version of Cyan you flashed, what recovery you're using)
But without knowing any of that, I'm going to suggest (assuming you have Amon_Ra's latest recovery) that you boot to recovery and wipe everything a couple times, then flash Cyan. By everything, I mean Factory Reset, Wipe EXT, Wipe Dalvik-Cache, and to be safe, Repair EXT. And do all those at least once, factory reset again, and flash.

You don't mods will, and it wasn't flamed or anything so it'll probably stay for awhile
Phone: CDMA Hero
ROM: Freshhh2.0d
Recovery Image: 1.5.2
Well the story begins:
Last week installed Freshh2.0d rom everything worked perfect...... until I tried to screw with the lock screen (tried to install vanilla lock screen and for some reason it messed the rom soon I assign password to lock screen!!) To even realize it was the lock screen I had to reboot and flash the rom several times (maybe like 8-10!!!) then finally it started working!!!
But after the last flash, I started having force close issues with several core apps, like touch screen, google apps etc..... so this morning decided to reflash the rom one last time and see if it fixes the issues.... but I feel like I have done more than just that..... here is what I have done....
1. Re-flashed Freshhh2.0d rom, after reboot got stuck at "htc" screen that comes up after all the animations
2. I wiped or did a factory reset and flashed again..... same result
3. Wiped again and this time I wanted to download the rom again and while downloading rom, I stumbled up on new recovery image 1.6.2
4. I applied new recovery image with wiped or factory reset phone, rebooted in recovery and flashed rom
5. Again stuck under htc screen after all animations....
6. Went back to recovery image 1.5.2 and flashed rom
7. After all this the net result is still same...... stuck in htc screen....... not booting the phone!!!!
Can somebody point me to the right direction???? I am even thinking about trying a different rom and see if that comes up!!!
Ok, first go back to the 1.6.2 recovery.
Next, wipe the following:
Factory Reset
Dalvik Cache
SD: EXT (if you were using apps2sd this will nuke your apps, so be sure you have a backup).
Then reflash Fresh 2.0d (or whatever ROM you want to use).
If you still have problems I recommend doing the RUU to return it to stock and start over.
Same with me I have been trying to flash fresh 20d. On my first reboot it always gets stuck on HTC screen. I'm comming from Fresh 2.0b2. Don't know what else to try. Though I can do Nandroid and get back to Fresh2.0b2

When in doubt, always wipe before going to a new rom. When NOT in doubt, wipe anyhow.
Sure you can go to a new rom sometimes without a wipe...but 80% of the time you do much better going clean.
Also, how long have you waited on the HTC screen? I've seen that take upwards of 10 minutes.
I have waited as much as an hour. Also, I did do a Factory reset many times. I just don't know what else to try.
if none of that works. just use the right ruu for your device.

Wipe all 3 again, then reflash.
Factory
Dalvik
SD: ext
Then let us know how it goes.
Your problems are caused by apps2sd... plain and simple. Fresh 2.0d's release notes tell you that you are going to have to wipe your sd:ext (as well as data wipe). That is because there were several versions of apps2sd floating around before and they aren't all compatible.
http://geekfor.me/new-release/fresh-20d/
Secondly make sure you are using ext3 and not ext2.

Yes It worked Finally. I wiped all Three and reflashed it and waited 15 mins and it worked.

Great! that did the trick!!!
Flipz, there is one shortcoming with 2.0d (not sure if its something inherent to the original rom itself!) When I use my corporate email on my Hero it forces me to assign password and when I do that and lock my screen phone stops responding there after. This happens when I am using vanilla screen lock update.... I can't unlock for anything.... any idea how to fix this?
Glad to hear you're both up and running.
I have tried multiple times to flash jfbs's Kitkat rom without sucess. I am using CWM 6.0.4.5 from his OP, have tried different downloads of the rom, have done multiple wipes and factory resets, all to no avail.
After the install I get the boot animation that runs for about five minutes then boots to a black screen with the status or navigation bar (the one on top of the screen with battery level and signal strength) but the bar is on the bottom and the rest of the screen is black. Any help would be appreciated.
I am able to flash other roms without a problem including Kitkang v1 by Awsome.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have seen the status bar problem, but it normally goes away after a couple of seconds, the longest I had it was about 3 mins when opening Facebook. Try wiping everything including internal SD. Not you external. See it that helps

I have noticed the status bar on the bottom since the 12\25 build. Changed a few things with a test build last night and it is still present. Do you get a black screen with builds prior to 12\25?

I would try that too. I really don't know why its giving you troubles, but you shouldn't have to wipe sdcard even though it's recommended. I have some newer builds, but I'm trying to get the stock camera working before I upload another.

Go to wipe > advanced wipe and select sdcard, then swipe to confirm.
Edit: noticed you're using cwm, so hold on and I'll switch to that and get back in a few.

Did the wipe of the internal SD and still have the same problem.
I have the battery stat and the signal strength on the bottom right corner and black screen. When it goes to sleep after 30 seconds or so I can press the power button and it brings up the unlock screen which when I unlock brings me back to the black screen.

Let's try something else. I'll upload a new build and see if changing the kernel made any difference. It'll take about 15 minutes, so keep an eye on the cm11 thread and avoid the 12/25 build for the time being.

ok thanks
New build 12/29 did not work...same problem. Tried 12/08 rom and it installed ok then tried a dirty flash to 12/29 rom and had all kinds of problems. Went back to AOIP 4.2.2 for now.
I'm having the same problems. I've tried checking md5s and they match. 12/29 boots up from a clean install until I install banks standard and or core gapps. With standard gapps it locks up at the splash screen. With core gapps it locks up when it says android is upgrading.
Basically once I install gapps it's doomed. Same results with cwm and twrp. How are others able to install this ROM?
Are you wiping cache and dalvik-cache before installing gapps? If not before, after installing? Either way should work.
anytime i try to install a rom the phone will get stuck at multiple "process has stopped working" notifications that just keep repeating. the only way to get anything to work is to go back to a stock rom. am i missing something? i have twrp 2.6.3.3 installed

Did you dirty flash it? When switching roms, ALWAYS wipe data/cache/dalvik before installing any rom. If you are at stock and switching to a non stock based rom, definitely wipe data/cache/dalvik, or else you will run into problems just like this.

I always full wipe any ROM, you especially want to going to stock from aosp or vice versa.
Go Intl advance wipe and clear cache, dalvek, system, and data.
NEVER wipe internal

Think you should try this. Flash your stock recovery boot into it and hold power and volume up then release power still holding volume up till screen pops up. Use the options to wipe cache then factory reset wipe days. Reboot reinstall twrp wipe everything including your internal storage then flash Bliss and gapps. This is what fixed everything for me. Sometimes you need to do a factory wipe with the stock recovery to get the nv partition wiped. Custom Recovery's don't get that part and when flashing firmware like you have been, like us all updating and so on this can get corrupted. That was my issue.

Someone posted this in another thread to try and help someone with WiFi issues. I've had those issues at times as well, and wondered if doing a factory reset with the stock recovery did more than TWRP, and would perhaps fix something internally that TWRP couldn't.
Is this possible?
Any devs or maybe Capt Throwback with knowledge of what stock recovery could do more than TWRP?

factory reset

LOL! How would I honestly know if it did anything different or useful?!
The whole point of this is to fix issues like, connectivity, BT, and perhaps my TWRP issues.
I am an amateur diving into this, so I'm willing to try, but I'm not sure if it will do any good.
I will try this soon though. His claim is from all the firmware flashing, a fresh wipe may be helpful.
