Hello,
I have a massive battery drain on my CM10 mod. Nothing changed. I can do max. 12hours on 1 battery.
When i go to settings -> battery -> there is standing that Android OS is using 58% of the battery, is this normal?
First there was standing Google+ 63% but i deleted Google+.
And what to do about it? I use Greenify but i doesn't help.
I searched a lot but, i can't find elsewhere why my Android OS is taking up so much battery.
Greetz,
MrC

Hello thank you for answering, I installed Wakelock detector and here are the result:
(I can't add image, because my posts)
cLock: 11 times
Facebook: 9 times
Google Search: 6 times
WhatsApp: 4 times
Greenify: 3 times
Klok: 1 time
I have an alarm set on cLock, but is this still normal?

cLock probably wakes the device to update the weather too, but it really doesn't say much. We need names of wakelocks, not necessarily the apps causing them. (Hint: use BetterBatteryStats)
Apart from that, I always got massive wakelocks using CM. I suggest you try out something p880-dev based!

It's the wlan_rx_wake that's keeping your device from sleeping. I had the same on CM10 and 11, but changing to a p880-dev based ROM fixed it for me. I personally use Nameless, but if you prefer to stick with CM, you can try CM11 based on unofficial sources. It shouldn't have the wakelocks. Screen-on-time probably won't improve much, but deep sleep should be much better. And, it's KitKat!

Camera works fine, just taking videos and barcode scanning won't work without Laufer's patch. If that's too much of a drawback for you, you could try Omni or Beanstalk based on p880-dev sources with old blobs. Those should have everything working.

Did you wipe the cach and dalvik??? Worth trying this to see if this resolves the issue but backup your files first.
If not then, back everything up and try and full device restore.
Is that a full stock of LG ics? I think not much you can do about that. Other than trying one of the custom ROMs and getting battery efficient kernels.

Also here I report high battery drain.
Stock ICS ROM, rooted at first, then tried a battery usage data reset with no result.
Factory restore, same.
Wiped caches and dalvik cache (with CW recovery), phone bricked.
Un-bricked and reinstalled ICS stock, with CivZ_StormTrooper_rev3 kernel mod. Now with No Frills CPU & Juicedefender free, less than 10 hours without using phone (just data / h3g mode on).
First item in consumption list, "Android OS".
Any ideas?
Thank you
First. you should think about using an custom ROM based on stock. carburano Rom is Good but also Jishnu Sur´s rom is Awesome.
If you afraid to Root you Phone, it´s as easy a 1 2 3 nowadays just use this awesome Tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
Reason: Many of programms you don´t need are removed my first consumption is WIFI. So even if i have WIFI on all day, my phones is steady till the night.
Second. Reset Battery status in CWM
Third. You using a damn smartphone dont expect s**t that this will hold many days this is no Nokia 3210 BTW if you use it that means u use Battery Facebook BTW is one if the most active Programms i know. There´s "high drain" in Order.

But my battery discharges at tremendous rate: 10 or 15% in 1 hour. Autosync, GPS, Wifi disabled, screen brightness at 20%.
Leaving phone without PIN (white keyboard with PIN request) drain 5% battery in 2 mins.
Battery usage lists
Cell Standby
Android OS
Screen
Android System
Phone idle
Detail on Cell Stanby
Time on: 27m 37s
Detail on Android OS says:
CPU Total 1m 13s
Keep awake 12m 36s
I'm not sure if before ICS upgrade the "keep awake" time was so high, but I remember it was more lower than Time On. Just now Android OS is passed to 1st place in consumption list
How can I discover if it's an Android or battery related problem?

Without changing your system you could give "Juice Defender" a try, just look up in Appstore. I have no experience with this app, but it trys to defend your juice
I handled it by using some custom rom (recommending 4.1.2 and not 4.2.1 -> better battery life so far, look up some CM 10 ROM)
in dev forum pengus77 is working on some awesome kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097788) that also raises battery life enormous.
with all that stuff my 2X works very nice since a few days.
BUT: read instructions befor you do anything please!

had only 2g on.
but when i was at home with wifi on, was some more than 3h
but the phone was already 1.5 years old when i go it. must now be 2.5years old. never changed battery (maybe because of that i had bad battery..)
now passed to the lg optimus l9 get every day 4h screen on time, great standby time.
ow btw i'm sending text messages hole day with go sms. (browsing the web is more battery friendly..)
Flashed PA ver. 8. and the battery life improved greatly.

Lol.that is placebo or user app related, you are using same kernel on both roms and only maybe few little batt. tweaks in tony's rom which don't make that much difference
Probably you had app battery drain couse there should be verry slight difference between this rom's in terms of battery usage

hello people,
i am quite rookie to android, and i am very sorry, if i introduce myself with a silly question wish might be already answered clearly in an existing thread. but i couldn't explicitly find it, so i want to ask you.
is there a general difference in how much battery drain the 9305 have (in standby/ cpu-sleep) just depending on if an AOSP or a Stock-based ROM is used??
i tryed a lot with AOSP based ROMs, different Kernels and settings. But I never ever come under a consumption of apprx 3% battery drain per hour in standby.
Catching some phrases from people posting here using Stock based ROMs, it seems to me, the deal with a lot less drain.
is that true? and is "that" really the reason for the diff?
today i was also really surprised, when i saw my dads purely unmodified 9300 laying around unused. it showed 12% drain in standby.....after 1d 5h 20m. i know that the 9305 is a lil hungrier than the 9300.....but still i think: DAMN!!!!
It depends on ROM/Kernel/installed apps (wake locks). You can surely achieve the same performance like a 9300. I had really good experiences with stock based custom roms where i had just 5-7% drain over night which was brilliant.
to specify my question: there is no way around flashing back to a stock-based ROM for improving battery life, because AOSP based ROMs are all hungrier in general?
The big problem are the apps that you are using , i got 77% after 1 day and 7 hour's and did like 20 phone calls , watch 2 episodes of STAR TREK NG over lan and casual internet use (~30 minutes) and some pictures like ~10 until now , but i kill all apps and use clear memory every time i put the phone to sleep + 80% of time the screen is at low as possible, no smart function active and on power saving mode and s voice closed. I.m on 3G and love my battery!
Run Better Battery Stats and look for wakelocks .

hi stephane,
thanks a lot for your reply. for me, the xtreme-ROM also belongs to the stock-based-ROMs
Jelly Bean definitely drains more battery then Ice Cream Sandwich, but I am not sure about difference between 4.1 and 4.2 versions. But sure, the most important is what apps do you have, and even how do you use them. Some apps sometimes drain batter and sometimes don't. I think that every time I enable location services to use Google Now network locator servise and some other related stuff really drains battery during first day or two, later it gets better. Anyway look for partial wakelocks on the first place when looking at Better Battery Stats.
---------- Post added at 02:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:55 PM ----------
Also check CPU states with BBS or whatever to see is your CPU goes to sleep or stucks at the lowest frequency. If you use some apps like viber, and your father doesn't, that could be the reason too.
I am new to the N6 world and I am not happy with the battery performance getting around 3.5 SOT and max of 12 hrs of overall battery usage. I am so tempted to root, CM12.1 and Franco kernel. But I am hearing bad battery results with CM12.1. I know everyone has different way of usage but if you can share your experience it will be great. I have three pus email accounts one is exchange, twitter, instagram, Google+ (manual sync), screen brightness is 10%, no adaptive brightness, no ambent display, no location, i use Google now, rarely play games, dropbox, Google drive, one drive, turned off all Google sync except for contacts, calendar... etc.

You can squeeze another hour of SOT with a custom ROM and kernel. I usually get 4 to 4.5. Everyone's phone is unique but benzo kernel gives me very good battery life regardless of the ROM it is used with. It is based off hells core kernel which many people agree is among the best.

Good luck!
A custom ROM with settings with by Kernel Adiutor (or Synapse,...) *may* help. There are so many factors, including use (which you've touched on), areas of travel/use (and therefore reception), baseband version,...
Regardless, your willingness and patience to experiment with different kernels (recommend hellscore/benzoCore or blu_spark as starting points) and ROMs are very helpful!
Has anyone tried CM12.1 it seems like a very clean interface?

Try the M3 stock. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The battery is what it is, you can get some improvements however I think most of them exist in how the device deep sleeps. JDX 3.01 (rom) is in the thread. Good luck.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
All custom kernels.can be tweaked for battery life. The choice.of kernel is pretty much irrelevant, unless you can't be bothered to learn the tweaks
Also, ROMs.have very little influence on battery life unless it's bloated and poorly coded. Although in.not saying CM is either of those things, typically cm ROMs have been poorer on battery life than their aosp cousins.

My N6 - stock 5.1.1 - Franco Kernel.
For battery life I am using apps with a black background when possible.
No G-mail but K-9 Mail.
No wallpaper 'No wallpaper app'.
WiFi interval changed to 200 with build.prop editor.
Flashed Black Google Now launcher
(Needs Google.app updates uninstalled).
Disabled not used g-apps.
Disabled not used services.
Actually today I am bit surprised of how well the battery behaved. I got 4 hrs SOT, 3 hrs of talk time, listing to music.
Here is what I did and I believe that pumped up my battery performance.
1. Switched network to 3G.
2. No WiFi.
3. Wiped cache from boot recovery.
I will keep an eye on it but if that's the case then I will just stay stock until M is out.

Yes agree, I noticed that too (switching to 2G).
Probably the 4G network is to weak for indoor use, and maybe bad signal causes more battery.
Hope you don' t mind that I add another point.
4. Restrict app background data of all apps. (Settings - Data usage - < per app setting > )
I just flashed Android M P3 and it looks promising regarding battery life and I am like the added features. Highly recommend to check it out.

Unfortunately my navigation app Sygic won't start in M P3. Needed to go back to 5.1.1
Any one knows the best battery rom ? for 8.1 because im faceing a lot of problem with a couple of roms except for our stock rom
Not really sure with nitrogen os 8.1 if there was already improvements on it. But I use it before for 8.1 but lack of oxygen os camera push me back on flashing back the stable rom.
Nitrogen OS. Been with it since its early stages, and I can assure you it's the best Oreo ROM I have ever tried, both stability, smoothness and battery wise.
Hope this could help you!
They all good, useless thread.
Asking a question like this will always leave you more confused than before you asked it. Don't ask for the best ROM which has the best xyz features or best battery life.
You can either search for similar threads, or do trial and error flashes of ROMs until you find one that matches you.

There are a lot of thread about the best rom... However i recommend you a stock or stock-based rom on 7.1.1 with a custom kernel.
We need someone super dedicated who can do some tests on idle drains for a few ROMs... So we know which rom is most battery friendly from stock with no user apps/input

idk, I wouldn't call it useless thread, there are certainly some 8.1 ROMs that I can't even get 2 hour SOT on, while others I can get 4.
None of the ROMs out currently have deep sleep to my knowledge. I have tried Nitrogen, DU, Omni, etc and battery still drains while sleeping. It will go from 70 to 30% overnight. I only have Reddit (Boost), Discord, and Telegram installed (with notifications off), Spotify & Shuttle.
i suggest [ROM] theOne3TOS ,its based on offisial OOS,very battery saved during my using process.

I use TheOneOS stock OOS OB 21 Aroma with AKT advanced Battery tweaks with boeffla kernel. All lag free. With almost 8 hrs screen on time.

Looked into it, I disabled wakelocks and I get through a full day with 70% left. Wow.
I still don't get a full deep sleep, (a solid line to the right), but its enough to have me not worry about my battery not making it through the day.

Yeah I always noticed OOS had a bit better battery, but I would have to be 1-2 months behind in security patches and using their bloated OS ;(. Granted, its a lot less bloated then other skins.
