Vario is *suddenly* dead! I didn't upgrade anything.

Hi,
Suddenly my Vario died. I was not upgrading anything at all. I was just using it or maybe I was charging it during this time. Now I can't turn it on and when I connect the USB cable with power nothing happens. Not even the charging LED lights up.
Any ideas?
Did your battery completely die? Where you installing/and or modifying anything on the device? We needs some more info brother!

Battery: maybe it did died, as I have not been using the phone for a while (couple of months).
No, I didn't do even any software installation. Just normal usage. I don't remember if I was charging it while it died or not.
Well, sounds to me like your battery may just be dead, not regular dead mind you, but drained. Try this first, connect your Wizard to either the original wall charger that came with it, and let it charge for a while, or find another miniUSB charger(like from another phone or bluetooth headset or the like) with AT LEAST 1A of OUTPUT. Anything less will not be able to charge the battery. Try that first, then let me know what happens!

I'm glad you found a solution.
My first inclination was to respond, "Yeah, and my wife says she has no idea how she got syphilis, either," but comedy doesn't fix broken phones...

Hope you can get a new charger to get elecroshocks everytime to your wizard...

[Q] Captivate only charging via USB

Hello guys! this is my first android phone, so far I'm really happy but, It only charges via USB plugged to a laptop or pc, when I try to charge it the normal way, plugged to the wall, it tries to charge but then it shows nothing on the battery icon, like if it were dead or something. I have to charge it via pc or latopt always, and I would like if you can give me a help here, maybe is something I'm doing wrong.
Thanks in advance!

Did you try with a different wall charger? Perhaps yours isn't good. I can't really see why else it wouldn't work.

So are you saying that when you plug into the wall charger it doesn't charge at all or it just doesn't show any animations indicating that its charging?
If you go to settings>battery while its plugged into the wall charger does it show its charging in there? If it does then you are fine. I have two wall chargers at home and for whatever reason it never shows that the phone is charging short of going into battery settings but they do charge my phone.

When I plug the captivate to the wall charger, it starts the animation like if wre charging, but 2 mins later it just stops... I tried what you did and no, it's not charging... I tried with 4 different chargers already but no luck. When I plug it to the usb it charges normally, only wall charger is not working... Since it charges normally via USB, I thought maybe was an OS issue, really dont know...
Thanks for your concern! :good:

Help: Not charging

My model is F8132, 39.2.A.0.374.
Now the charging problem is driving me crazy: it's not charging with any wall charger. More precisely:
1. When power-on and connected to wall charger, NOTHING happens.
2. When power-off and connected to wall charger, red light pops out for a second and disappears, "SONY" pops out for seconds, and then the battery sign comes out WITHOUT charging.
3. The phone IS charging when connected to the computer in any case.
4. In fastboot mode when connected to the wall charger, IT'S charging.
I have to tried to use the Companion to repair, and to use flashtool to flash the firm that I have been using, both don't work. I have not unlocked the bootloader, or rooted the phone.
To my knowledge, it seems that the kernel is not working well when it is supposed to recognise the wall charger, but I hesitate to flash a rooted kernel since I never do anything crazy.
Please tell me what to do! GREAT THANKS!
I have some problems charging my Xperia X depending on the cable I use (I have a few different micro USB cables from old phones) . Did you try a different cable?

Not yet. But why should it work? I have flashed the same firmware, the ROM should be absolutely rewritten, and if the kernel is not completely renewed, why should it be renewed when I flash other versions?
So now I have two conjectures, one is that the kernel is hurt which will not be completely rewritten when we flash the device in usual ways, the other is that something is hurt beneath the kernel level.
But anyway, I'm not an IT guy, and I really need experts now.

If there are some blocks of the storage where the kernel is that are not completed rewritten and/or that are damage, it is very weird or lucky for you that you can still boot and it messed only with that very specific part for charging, and not some other part.

So if you can still boot I would discard that the kernel is damaged... It might be some weird bug with your very specific phone and that very specific kernel, so to rule that out you need to change change the kernel flashing another firmware version, and with a different kernel if it is still not charging, then I would say it is something other than the kernel, maybe some specific hardware part with some code inside that helps charging the phone. If it is hardware related you would need to take to sony.
Bur as I said, it seems software related as you can charge with a computer.

I have the same problem, x peria xp SOV33 cannot fill properly and very long when the phone is active, it doesn't even charge when the cellphone turns off.
I can not get into flash & quick boot mode.
replacing a similar charger cable and adapter does not help at all.
after a few days I made my own charger cable.
combining usb cable with utp cable. (I mean making a single cable charger, not a fiber).
I'm connected to the fast charging adapter version.
and this works.
but the problem is the device can not enter flashmode & fastboot.
I do not guarantee how this will work for all.
the risk of hardware damage is borne by each
sorry my english is very bad

Hi, I have a Sony Xperia X compact that has suddenly stopped charging using either the dedicated wall charger. It will charge using my external battery pack, but when it is plugged into the wall charger it will not charge. At first I assumed it was the charger itself, as the micro USB cable was obviously working with my battery pack. The charger I bought was also a genuine Sony one, but this didn't work either, so both this and the original one was used on my husband’s Nokia Lumina 520 which also has a micro USB port for charging and it charges that fine. I then got another micro USB lead and that didn't work either, so I tried my husband’s charger on my phone and again, no charging activity.
It's a weird one, as I don’t understand why it won’t recognise a wall charger but is fine with my batter pack and of not it doesn’t recognise a computer either.

[Q] Totally DEAD Mi Mix

Oddest thing. I was in my car using my Mi Mix for GPS and had it charging while in use. I came to a point where it was fully charged and didn't need to use the navigation anymore so I long pressed power (Epic ROM) and then chose the SHUTDOWN option. Little while later I get home and go to power on my phone and nothing. Nothing at all. Tried long pressing power for over 20 seconds nothing. Tried with VOL UP. Nothing. Tried with VOL DOWN nothing. Tried using a wall charger to see if anything would light up. Nothing. Tried connecting to a computer nothing.
The phone has ZERO damage. Mint condition. For the life of me I have no idea WTF happened to this phone!
Was it hot?, I had this incident happening to mi today, I took a little trip around town and when I got home the phone was off for some reason, I did try to turn it on by pressing the power button a few times and nothing but then it turn on. That was weird, first and I hope the last time.
On my PC I ran the MiFlash tool. The phone does show up on the list when I hit REFRESH but when I try to flash the stock Chinese firmware it fails. It says something to the effect that it can't connect. I get a red error message after a few seconds

Wonder if it has triggered some safety feature because of heat, put it somewhere really cool for a while and try again.

Led it's red flashing in power-off mode when battery it's too discharged.
I've had a similar problem.
I've completely discharged the smartphone to test its capacity.
In power-off mode, I've tried to charge the battery with a non original battery charger; result: red flashing for, about, 10-15 minutes.
After this period, I could turn on the smartphone.
With stock Xiaomi battery charger, this problem doesn't appear, because of Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, that can charge rapidly the Mi Mix's big battery.
Are you sure your battery is fully charged? And your battery charger works well?

It means it's flat or faulty battery, tried a different cable and charger, left it over night, battery can die without good reason.

It could be that we have not encountered this error. I for one have not. My advice would be try another cable if you haven't already.

I don't think you have to access developer options for that. Isn't there a notification in the pulldown shade you can click and change from data transfer to charge only?
I've used it on my laptop, which has a USB-C port capable of fast charging my phone. I plug it in, change the option in the pulldown shade to charge only, and boom, it starts fast charging.
