My model is F8132, 39.2.A.0.374.
Now the charging problem is driving me crazy: it's not charging with any wall charger. More precisely:
1. When power-on and connected to wall charger, NOTHING happens.
2. When power-off and connected to wall charger, red light pops out for a second and disappears, "SONY" pops out for seconds, and then the battery sign comes out WITHOUT charging.
3. The phone IS charging when connected to the computer in any case.
4. In fastboot mode when connected to the wall charger, IT'S charging.
I have to tried to use the Companion to repair, and to use flashtool to flash the firm that I have been using, both don't work. I have not unlocked the bootloader, or rooted the phone.
To my knowledge, it seems that the kernel is not working well when it is supposed to recognise the wall charger, but I hesitate to flash a rooted kernel since I never do anything crazy.
Please tell me what to do! GREAT THANKS!
I have some problems charging my Xperia X depending on the cable I use (I have a few different micro USB cables from old phones) . Did you try a different cable?

Not yet. But why should it work? I have flashed the same firmware, the ROM should be absolutely rewritten, and if the kernel is not completely renewed, why should it be renewed when I flash other versions?
So now I have two conjectures, one is that the kernel is hurt which will not be completely rewritten when we flash the device in usual ways, the other is that something is hurt beneath the kernel level.
But anyway, I'm not an IT guy, and I really need experts now.

If there are some blocks of the storage where the kernel is that are not completed rewritten and/or that are damage, it is very weird or lucky for you that you can still boot and it messed only with that very specific part for charging, and not some other part.

So if you can still boot I would discard that the kernel is damaged... It might be some weird bug with your very specific phone and that very specific kernel, so to rule that out you need to change change the kernel flashing another firmware version, and with a different kernel if it is still not charging, then I would say it is something other than the kernel, maybe some specific hardware part with some code inside that helps charging the phone. If it is hardware related you would need to take to sony.
Bur as I said, it seems software related as you can charge with a computer.

I have the same problem, x peria xp SOV33 cannot fill properly and very long when the phone is active, it doesn't even charge when the cellphone turns off.
I can not get into flash & quick boot mode.
replacing a similar charger cable and adapter does not help at all.
after a few days I made my own charger cable.
combining usb cable with utp cable. (I mean making a single cable charger, not a fiber).
I'm connected to the fast charging adapter version.
and this works.
but the problem is the device can not enter flashmode & fastboot.
I do not guarantee how this will work for all.
the risk of hardware damage is borne by each
sorry my english is very bad

Hi, I have a Sony Xperia X compact that has suddenly stopped charging using either the dedicated wall charger. It will charge using my external battery pack, but when it is plugged into the wall charger it will not charge. At first I assumed it was the charger itself, as the micro USB cable was obviously working with my battery pack. The charger I bought was also a genuine Sony one, but this didn't work either, so both this and the original one was used on my husband’s Nokia Lumina 520 which also has a micro USB port for charging and it charges that fine. I then got another micro USB lead and that didn't work either, so I tried my husband’s charger on my phone and again, no charging activity.
It's a weird one, as I don’t understand why it won’t recognise a wall charger but is fine with my batter pack and of not it doesn’t recognise a computer either.

I have the same problem. It was preceded by my phone going into Car Mode for no reason and also thinking I was USB connected when I was connected to a charger.
I have sent the phone to HTC who want me to pay for a new motherboard as the bootloader is unlocked. They sent me a picture of the phone showing the bootloader was unlocked but for some reason they sent me a photo of someone elses phone (mine is black and the photo is of a silver one). I now have an escalated ticket to sort this out - has been open since Monday. I am losing patience with HTC.........
Same here... I don't have HTC Warranty, what can i do?

Mine was having the same trouble. Car mode, not charging and usb host mode warning. I made some alterations suggested in another thread as: Turn off fast boot, and choose no screen lock and reboot. The phone charged at night, but it was turned off. I'll get home and see what's up. The worst thing for me is that I'm in Brazil and we get no support here. I'll have to send it to the US, to a friend so he can send to htc. Didn't get to see if it connects to the pc. I'll be pissed if it doesn't.
Oh, mine is completely stock. Didn't unlock bootloarder or S-OFF
Phone is working just fine now. Recharging when on, no more car app going crazy. I only turned off fast boot and lock screen, rebooted and problems solved.

I already fixed this charging issue...it has nothing to do with HW.
Just replaced this parts shown in the attached image below
I don't know what is happend but the phone is charging now.I buy an LG G2 and let the phone off one week and after that when I plugged in charger everything is normal. The problem now is with the microphone now because when I call somebody he can't hear me,but I can hear the other person. If I activate the speaker everything is good and I can use my phone for calls. Now the phone is in service and I will reply with results when I will get it back.
I have the same problem, there are many topics about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332046&highlight=charge&page=3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417377&highlight=charge&page=3
And I have read many theories about the causes of this problem:
1) damaged usb port
2) virtual sd-card corrupted
3) damaged proximity sensor
But apparently the only solution is send it to warranty...
I am kinda having the same problem...
I can charge when its on but it has to be with certain chargers...
like a usb wall charger but not certain standard ones
charges in the car no problem and when off..
But this only recently happened when I flashed a new Rom...
I restored back to another rom and it charges no problem...
So now I think it has something to do with the freq of how the phone is clocked at...
Im testing right now to see if I clock it to something different over or under it might fix the problem...
Will post results
Solved

Yeah i just solved. Thanks god.
I had the same problem after totally discharge the phone and try to charge it with a generic charger.
The device didnt charge when ON and didnt connect to USB neither.
It starts putting itself in car mode and USB host mode.
I was going to try a defferent kernel when i re-unlocked the phone and rooted it (i install TWRP2 v2.6.3.3)
in my way to install the kernell (and change the ROM) i did a factory wipe with the TWRP2 tool and then
i noticed that the phone starts charging again.
It is like kew again.
I hope this help a bunch of people out there, i made a hugh investigation and no one have any idea, they
keep telling you that is a hardware problem. If the phone dont charge it all than is a hardware problem if
it charges when is OFF or in Fasboot mode than is a software problem.
Sorry for my english. Spread the word.
email: [email protected]
Mine stopped charging, battery is now empty and it's completely unresponsive. It doesn't charge, LED doesn't blink, I can't boot it(not even in bootloader). What can I do? It's still under warranty, but the bootloader is unlocked and I have installed a custom ROM. Do you think they will notice that because it doesn't boot at all and they don't open the phones in Croatia(where I live) as far as I know because they don't have the right equipment so they just exchange them. Should I just try sending it?

I'm absolutely freaking baffled. Simply put, my Atrix HD doesn't charge if it's powered on. At all. It doesn't even recognize that it's plugged into a power source. As soon as I turn it off, the little green light at the top lights up. I need help, this is infuriating me.
Have you tried a different charging cable... Or plugging it into the USB port on a PC while the phone is on? If it still displays these symptoms, it's possible the micro USB connector on the phone is messed up

I am now realizing I should have gone into more detail about the issue. I went to plug it in today, and it wouldn't charge. It was running the latest Milestone build of CM11. I went ahead and tried to turn it off and back on, and it started boot looping. I managed to get it into AP Fastboot and fastboot-flashed it back to stock. It has an unlocked bootloader. So now I'm on stock Android 4.1.1, and boot looping with the battery below ten percent. Above ten percent, it stops looping and just kind of sits there, but will boot up fine. Once I get it back into Android, it stops charging again. The issue persists no matter what cable/charger/PC combination I use. Since it charges fine in Fastboot, Recovery, and while off, and persists across multiple chargers and cords, the only idea I have is that it is a software issue in Android somewhere, I just can't figure out for the life of me where it might be.

Yeah, original Motorola charger.
Just a note, I can get it into fastboot, flash it, reboot it, and have it not boot loop for a few minutes, but as soon as the bootloader hands control off it stops charging...while it's in fastboot it seems to either be charging or running off USB.
I applied OTA nougat update yesterday. Since then my phone won't charge even when off. It also gets very hot when connected to the charger.
When connecting to a charger that has a led in it, the light will flicker one and off repeatedly.
[update April 21]
Samsung is asking for $400 to fix the phone.
For complete disclosure, the phone was purchased from Amazon US. My interaction is with Samsung Israel. They place the responsibility on the seller (an Amazon store) instead of owning it, even though the update malware came from Samsung Mobile.

I'd suggest you save as much as possible of your stuff that you want and then do a factory reset so that there's no old apps or other stuff that's causing it.. Make sure you have OEM unlock enabled to in Developer options so you don't end up with no FRP crap.

It's not a wire or port issue. Wireless charger doesn't work too. I tried different cables and chargers, nothing worked.
When connecting to a Macbook, I get a message "USB Accessories Disabled - Unplug the accessory using too much power to re-enable USB devices."
I'm guessing part of the update was a change to the circuit that guards the battery. Perhaps an aftermath of the exploding Note 7 fiasco.
I'll talk with Samsung next week and will update here.
When booting into recovery, I get the following screens:
Installing system update
No command
After these screens the device goes into the recovery menu.
Anyone know of a way to disable charging on USB? If I could get the USB working I could flash again.
Also, is it safe to flash to stock Marshmallow after the (failed) Nougat update?
Hi I have the same problem. Did you happen to find a solution?
Hej Folks,
my Santoni has this quirk that I can charge it with any charger, as long as it still has some energy. When it shuts down automatically because of low battery, it will only accept the original Xiaomi charger to recharge. This just gives me headaches, because when I loose my charger while traveling, I'm completely screwed! It will still turn on in fastboot and recovery and burn the last bit of energy left in the battery, but it won't charge there either...
I' running microG Lineage, and don't know whether it worked before I installed it or not, cause I didn't test that.
Any Ideas besides buying more original Xiaomi chargers?
What about USB cable? which USB cable you are using? have you tried using different USB cable?
check with USB port if there's any dust/lint, if so then try cleaning it and try charging it again.

Any USB and charger combination(s)should just work fine, i am not sure why are you getting this issue.
Have you changed your device's battery? (just asking, if so then that might be culprit).
Anyways for time being let me presume you haven't so in that case you may want to try clean flashing some other ROM(s) and see if you face the same issue. sometimes ROM or kernel causes this issue. similarly you can try changing kernel. (Do backup everything if you choose to clean flash)
Hi , my XZ2 is about one and a half years old. No problem whatsoever until this morning. I plugged in the charge cable, I got the message "charging" but it will not charge. I checked the cable and charging device (worked with another phone) so it is in the phone or in the connection. Cleaned connection (woorden tooth pick), nothing helped. Any suggestions? Battery level is now at 5 % so I can not do a lot anymore...
Have you tried different charging brick? You cleaned the port but I'd recommend using a cotton bud and isopropyl alcohol to clean it from corrosion.
If it won't help that is probably the fault of charging port itself. I had issues with charging when it would randomly stop charging and replacing port itself worked and it isn't doing that anymore (I replaced it around 2 months ago).
Edit: Also try charging the phone when it is turned off.

I promised I would let you know... I changed my mind at a certain moment and decided to check if the defect was covered by the Sony-guarantee. It was. So I sent it in, and after two or three weeks I got it back. Entire new mother board. So I think this was a real physical defect which could not be solved by your kind suggestions [thanks].

Sounds like a known mobo power controller failure.
Press Sony for a free repair... lean on them hard if you must. Keep calling until someone there does the right thing.
If you're lucky the first call will get it.
