Every time I want to download a .pptx file through Google Chrome it says file download completed, but when I try to open it through quickoffice, it says file corrupted. If I download the file through dolphin browser it works fine. Anyone else having this problem? Also, on a side note, anyone else finding the new download screen with the loading bar that takes up the whole screen on Chrome unbelievably annoying? Thanks in advance!

When I open the browser, a Google search page is displayed instead of the specified home page (about:blank). How can I keep the browser from going to Google search?
I'm using the standard browser with Serendipity 6.3.
I get the same results when I use Firefox Mobile 4.0 browser.
From Google home page, go to menu/more/settings/set homepage. Put your desired hompage url in there.

That's exactly what I did without success. As I posted, the homepage is set to about:blank.
Hmmm...maybe try reset to default and try again?

No change. I even rebooted. The home screen setting shows about:blank but the browser still goes to Google.
I'm on Serendipity 6.3 too. Just changed my homepage url successfully...but had to close the browser in task manager for the new url to "take." You may have some other issue.

I tried that as well. No joy. Oh well, I'll keep digging. Thanks for your suggestions.
It keeps starting up with google.com even if it's set to another page under setting. I already shut off all location based features (GPS, etc), but not sure if this relates.
Is there any fix on this or it's a common bug?
Set home page then shut down phone, then restart phone, it should load now.

Tried already. Actually, in the settings, it displays the url as the one I set as a homepage, but even that it will still load google.com when the browser is launched.
Everytime when going back to the browser, it will load a new window and go to google.com
Is there a file in the system's directory that can be deleted to clear the cache? Not sure if this is possible if the phone is not root.
Try clearing cache, history, etc. in the browser settings, then remove the battery, install battery and see if that works.

Still no help, already tried the following:
Cleared all cache, set browser to factory setting, removed battery, removed SD card. Rebooted still loading google.com
Any other method besides going for the last step which is a hard reset? If there is a file in the browser's system directory that can be deleted to reset the preferences.
Are you typing in a valid url, if not it goes straight to Google, just a thought.
Download Dolphin Browser from the market, see if it works ok from that browser. It sets your homepage correctly. I had the same problem as you with the stock browser, but my instructions worked fine for me.

I tried firefox, opera mobile, dolphin all started up with google.com (same as the stock browser), even I set it with another "valid" url, they all ignored it.
I guess there is not a choice but a hard reset.
And of course the url is valid, it's a major one, which I have to enter manually each time because the browser ignores it.
Does anyone have an idea if this has to do with the location setting for GPS?
So I have Chrome and Firefox browsers installed. Recently they have started downloading a file each time I click on a link. The file gets a different name each time and is stored in my default download folder. Sometimes I get a 404 error and sometimes it takes me to the page. It appears to be happening more and more often. I have recently done a factory reset (unrelated) but the problem still happens.
The content of the file is usually the same :-

Although today it downloaded a like.php from facebook when I clicked a like button accidently.
Anybody any ideas ?
Firefox is in permanent desktop mode , Chrome is in mobile mode.
No idea. Both work fine on mine. Dud u check how much memory u have left on ur phone or u might need to clear the browser memory? Did install anything in the last few days that might could cost an issue?

A fresh install after unlocking the bootloader and it's still happening. It reminds of when I used dice player before and it used to intercept apk downloads to try and play them....
I tried with and without DROID walk and changing useragent in FF and it still does it.

i guess it s a malware from bad app u installed
Ok, after a few tests and removing the only app I've recently installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.subatomicstudios.fieldrunners2
the error appears to have stopped. If this app is the direct cause I would be surprised, but the evidence so far indicates it was.
I'll see over the next few days I guess.

Well I was wrong. It's still ongoing. And it's incredibly annoying.

Ok. Found the problem. It was a small app browser I had downloaded... All working fine now.

Hi guys. Does anyone knows why everytime I access or browse at any web page via Chrome it always reloads and reloads the page... even when it already loaded fully. Like cycling every page.
Thanks in advance!
Try wiping data or cache via settings - application manager - chrome

No mate, it was that while navigating on a page it reloaded 2-3 times. Nevermind I've tried better other browser. Thanks!
Does anyone know how to stop Chrome from trying to open or install an app when you click a link? For instance, I get an email from TurboTax for a monthly update on my credit score. If I click the link on my computer, it goes to a webpage. If I click the same link on my phone, it tries to install their app and I can't find a way around it.
Any ideas? I googled for a how-to and I couldn't find anything helpful. It's not a default app thing, as far as I can tell.

Try to open the chrome in desktop mode... Then click the link
Edit: just realized what you were asking... If u already have the app see if u can remove the defaults.. Also you can make another browser like Firefox as your default one and see if that makes a difference
