[HELP] root with broken usb port - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I hope someone of you can help. I had problems with my usb-port, my computer didnt recognize my phone anymore. Somebody told me I should try to install ruu, so I used the htc1guru reset file to go back to stock without loosing my root.
Now I went back to stock but I lost my root rights as well.
How can I root my phone with my broken usb port? :s I have no recovery anymore. what to do?
thanks in advance

damn. well, I will sell my phone in the next weeks/months. After 3-4 years HTC I'll switch to LG or Samsung. Sorry HTC. A LG g2 with micro sd card and removable battery would be perfect.

no one of HTC users can left HTC phones, anyone use it , can't left it
you will try LG , Samsung or Nokia etc., but you will back to HTC soon
if you look for SD card and removable Battery, you can buy HTC Desire's models
about 5 years ago, i still use HTC phones, before that i changed the brand about 5 times
the day-one i used HTC, i can't change or use another brand

well, There is just the htc desire 310 and 500 with a removeable battery and these models are not really interesting for me. The 816 and 610 have non removeable batteries.
I dont really like Samsung, but its the galaxys5/4 is the only high-end-phone with removeable battery. I know there is a lgg2 model with removeable battery and sd card, but I cannot buy that one here in Germany. Im waiting for the LG g3 and decide afterwards. Lets see if another can replace a HTC phone

[Q] replacing motherboard (will I need to re-root?)

my sprint htc hero needs a new motherboard only because the usb is completely damaged from the outside only. It is rooted. Once the new motherboard is in, will I still have root? what should I expect when I turn the phone on for the first time?

You can replace a motherboard but can't handle root?
replacing the motherbord shouldnt affect the actual software so yes im pretty sure you will still be rooted.
to be honest though i would just get a new phone because i know motheboards arnt cheap.
well, I did get a new phone a while ago. got the evo 4g. but this hero just keeps bugging me, so kind of more for fun, I want to give this a go. I already ordered the motherboard on ebay. 30 bucks plus shipping. I saw a video on youtube and replacing it looks fairly simple. It is going to take a couple of weeks for it to get here, but will post back and let you know how it turns out.

No, you will need to root again. The android software is stored of the motherboard. So putting in a new one will be like getting a new phone, minus new parts on the outside.
If the motherboard you bought is used, then whatever the previous user had on it, then that's what you would find. Hope this helps.

ha proved me wrong lol. either way rooting shouldnt be a problem just z4 that bad boy and itll be up and running in no time
ah, that makes sense now. well it is a new motherboard. found two sellers on ebay both of which have a small supply for 30 bucks each. okay so I start over once I have it. many thanks
I know it has been a while, but just to finalize, got this hero working like a charm. changing the mother board was the easy part. the trick was finding the right sprint store that would get msl code and make everything match up between the new mother board and the phone. they have to actually change codes in their data base or you will not get service.
Damn, you should have asked -- I have a couple extra heroes from friends who move on.
wow, thanks. You know it was one of those things that you brake and get some redemption when you fix it.

Charger Port Melted :(

I was going to wire tether and I plugged it up via the stock USB cable that came with it and all the sudden it started smoking and I unplugged it and my charger port is ruined. So has this happened to anyone? I just had a mouse plugged in the same port and it was working fine! So anyone have this happen to them? Also how can I do warranty? My boot loader is unlocked and says tampered cause I'm running a ROM.
I have AT&T but that forum is not as big as this section so I`d post it here.
Edit anyways I called AT&T they sold me Since what had happened I need to call HTC and they will repair it. Will HTC care that its bootloader unlocked and tampered? even though its a physical hardware issue with the phone? or should I just sell it for parts and use an upgrade.
i'd send it to HTC and relock the bootloader. hardware-issues usually should be repaired even with tampered flag.
if you have enough energy left and really want to be save, use s-off, lock your bootloader, remove tampered flag and go back to s-on.

Just curious. Are you on a ROM that enables fastcharge? I did read a discussion between CM devs about rarely burning the port with fast charge enabled be default and connecting to a faulty USB port.
I'm guessing it's because USB 2.0 supports an output of max 500mAh.
If your phone tried to draw more than that it put pressure on the port which caused it to cease working properly.

Did they fix it or just send a new or referb one?
Also do you think they would charge for such repair? cause she said they may want to charge.

in my case i think they've send me a new one, but because i've unlocked my bootloader before, they transfered my IMEI to the new device. because my bootloader was still "relocked" after repair, but the devices case and screen were completely new (no more scratches and 2 dead pixels were gone.. lucky punch ;D )
edit: can't say, but they didn't charge me because it was obviously a hardware-failure that was not in a relation to the software.. this is an important point.. they will only charge you if they can be sure that the hardware got damaged due to your installed software (like overclocking your cpu etc.)

good luck!
UPDATE!: So I called AT&T they are going to warranty it. I`m going to run it completely dead so that maybe hopefully they WONT see my unlocked and tampered bootloader.
They wont charge for that will they if they see that?
Anyway I plugged up my Samsung Charger from my parents S3 and BAM my phone started smoking so I wonder why or what is causing that cause its certainly the phone.

HTC One Hard Brick; No root?

I was using my HTC One yesterday recording a lecture when it overheated and refused to turn on any longer. I've tried charging it with different cables and different outlets (USB in computer included) and the only recognition I get is that it shows qhsusb_dload in the device manager. I don't what to do to fix this; one of my friends stumbled upon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226445), but if it works, I have no idea how to do anything since I didn't root my phone. Anyone have any tips?
EDIT: A bit more information: it's a locked HTC One on Rogers Network in Canada.

I'd say get a replacement from your carrier.. They should do it for free. If they don't, send it to htc for repairs.

Sadly that isn't possible.. your phone is properly hard bricked, so if you want any of your data back, you'll have to have someone with a jtag box unbrick it for you.. That will cost you cash, and that defeats the whole purpose of getting a replacement phone..

Charger replacement

Today my G3's charger broke, where I can get a original replacement in India? or any other suitable charger, please guide me about the current part of the charger if no original replacement is available.
Mi charger is also a good replacement for Moto g3 charger. I m using it from last two months and it works quite well. :good:

I am using Asus charger with similar rating as moto g3 charger but I have noticed that the battery backup is reduced to a great extent, battery drains at 1%/minute approx if screen is on. I am getting only 2 hours and sometimes half an hour extra.
Once your battery has reached 100% the rate of discharge has nothing to do with the particular charger used.

@arun356y
Almost any charger will suffice, but try to get a known brand with output of around 1500mA (1.5A), it will lessen the charge time.
thanks everyone got replacement from service center, actually I was worried because I have rooted my device but the guys there didn't checked for root and filed for replacement straightaway
I use ONLY a Moto OEM charger, easily available on fleabay.

Most (I said most, not all) of the guys who work at OEM service centers don't even know what bootloader and rooting are. Their work is just to check if there is any hardware or software problem, & if it's on the software side they just flash the stock rom, that's all they can do. One of my friend owned an Xperia, I unlocked his bootloader and rooted the device, sometime later he got into some hardware problem, the guys at service center didn't check if it was unlocked or rooted they just saw the warranty paper and repaired the device. The same happened with my friend's Galaxy.

Exactly...
See if your charger has broke you call or go service center see what they can do . Dont use the moto g4 or g5 turbocharger. Or you can buy flipkart smartbuy charger on flipkart.
