I am new to the g2. Had it for a little over a week now. Tried a few roms. AOKP, Cyanogen, ect. Searched all over the forums but haven't found an answer. My wireless charger (dt-900) doesn't always work with them. It works fine with the rom that came with my g2 as well as the Mahdi rom, but that's it. My nexus 7 has no issues with the charging plate on any rom.
When I place the g2 on the charger the light on the charger will light up, but the g2 will act like nothing is has happened. If I leave it there for a minute sometimes the g2 will start charging but it's a false positive because when I take it off the charger it will act like it is still charging. At this point it will say it's charging (when its not even on the charger) forever until I reboot. It actually doesn't even reboot from there. I will choose reboot but it just crashes and shuts down.
Is this a known problem? Am I the only one? Is there something I can do to get it working? Appreciate any help.
I get weird wireless charging behavior with my VS980 as well, running hoang81's OmniROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2675016
Sometimes I have to reboot for it to recognize that the battery percent level to change after it's been on the phone for a while (sometimes it will even show fully charged after a reboot).
Also have experienced the same behavior you're describing.
I've noticed my VS980 will make subtle electrical noises if it's not position just right on my Nokia charger. But it does charge!

Hmm I have never heard the sounds of electrical noises. That doesn't sound good lol. Well at least I know I'm not alone with this problem. It has to be something in the rom or kernel. Been trying roms quite frequently and Mahdi is the only non lg kitkat rom that seems to have gotten the wireless charging right.
I too have been experiencing problems with wireless charging. I'm using a Nokia Fatboy charger, but have reached the conclusion that it's the phone not the charger. Just recieved the phone les than a week ago and immediately upgraded to 24a. I thought my problems were because of all the Xposed mods that I was doing, but yesterday I cleared battery stats using "battery calibration" app and am now seeing much better (normal) behavior, although I still on the discharge cycle of reseting the stats .bin yet so we'll see... I'll report back in a day or two...

Yeah I tried the liquid build as well. Mahdi is still the only non lg rom that will wireless charge my phone. Glad to know it isn't my phone or something I was doing wrong. Hopefully it will get figured out soon.
I will post back here if another rom gets it right. I would encourage others to do the same :good:

I was using a wifi tether on my phone running PCForce's CM7 and my phone restarted (it was connected to my PC via USB) and when it came back on it said "Charging 0%" and whenever I unplug it it switches off, never seen this before but it seems, to me, like the battery has been fried anyone think the same.
I also have a spare battery that works fine, which also tells me that it is some problem with the battery, and running a wifi tether can heat things up a bit which brought me to that conclusion.
Anyone wanna throw any ideas on if its possible to fix it, I am now using the battery that came with the phone but it has a crack near the contacts which doesn't fill me with confidence.

try with 600 mHz it solved the problem for me
With mobile data and Wifi tethering enabled, my phone can get up to 52 degrees celsius in some cases without charging. I usually turn the phone off and take out the battery for a few minutes for it to cool down. I guess a temperature that high is caused by overclocking. I'm not sure if its damaging or not but I do prevent progression of operations in that temperature.
I also have a crack on the battery. Had it for a few months now and no problems so far
How 'cracked' is it?

I don't think the crack will be that much of a problem. If you want, you could take it to someone experienced just to be sure.

It is a real shame because my previous LG phone was the LG Viewty and that was an amazingly well built phone. Cost ~£100 and came with an amazing camera and 3G front facing camera too. Shame it didn't have android. So I don't know why LG decided to go really cheap on the build qualities - you'd think having cracked batteries would have come up in their design tests but they probably didn't care...
I got the same trouble...

I bought an Incredible S a while ago and have been exploring ROMs and installing them. I am now on IceColdSandwich and currently satisfied with it. The only problem is the battery life, I fully charge it, take it out of charge, roam through home screens and I have 95% battery. I tried updating the radio to .24 one (built for Ice Cream Sandwich). So I was wondering if there was something I was missing or if there was a fix for this. Any help in this regard would be highly appretiated.
Thanks.
is it 2nd hand incredible s?
when you fully charged, did you leave it connected to the charger for a while?
one thing you might want to try is to turn off the inc s when it finishes charging... and plug it to charger again.
it will start charging again in case it's actually not full...
otherwise: do a battery calibration

And that's probably what all those apps will do.
And the reason for why your battery drops from 100% really quickly is because HTC made it that way. When you charge it'll charge to 100%, then stop charging until it has dropped to x% and start charging to 100% again. Repeat that until you remove the charger.
Sent fro... wait, I didn't send this.
My problem is that after charging to 100%, the battery drops to 95% after the course of about 10 minutes after unplugging the charger.
After reaching 95% the percentage would 'normalize' and discharging would occur on a more regular basis.
I have been experiencing this problem for the last 2 weeks or so.
It started happening suddenly, can't remember doing anything out of the ordinary to cause it to happen.
I tried letting it discharge to 1% then charge fully but the problem still occurs.
Even tried this app but still the problem exists.
Tried about 3 different ROMs also but still a no go.
Any advice about what can be done cause its driving me up a wall?
It's a known base bug and the only way I can think to 'fix' it is to charge your phone while it's off. I turn mine off when it's nearly fully charged.
Seriously nothing to worry about.
It's been reported many times now if you had used search

Ok thanks. Will try charging with the phone off.
I am curious however how this started happening without me doing anything unusual.
I mean prior to this happening it was discharging normal.
It use to bug me too but I've had the same or better battery life in the end so it's all good.
Started happening when 4.3 base was introduced

Try discharging completely, then charging completely while the phone is off, then start using it normally without intermittent charging. See how that goes.

I have the same issue and I usually do what "Jonny68" does and it works
I've read somewhere that it is intended like this by hTC to protect the battery
Tried the charging while off option, didn't let it discharge to 0% however but that seems to have worked as I finished charging about an hour ago and it is still at 100%.
Thanks everyone for their contribution.
After I flashed the new IC 3.0.5 i got a huge charging problem.
At first my phone charged very slowly. First I thought that it is a consequence of the hboot update. But it isn't.
Then over night and today there was no charging at all. I nearly cried.
Now that I reflashed IC 3.0.3 my phone charges again.
Now my question: is my phone bricked? With GSAM battery monitor and other programs or the #xxx# method with the dialer
everything says that my battery is ok. When I connect my phone to my PC there is no problem with the connection but the slow charging still is a thing.

How long does it charge? My phone charges about 2.5 hours from 0% to 100% on my current ROM. On some other ROMs I tried it charged almost 5 hours. Anyway, slow charge is even better than fast one if you ask me. Your battery doesn't heat as much and thus getting charged better and lower amp values give more complete charge than high values from faster charge

What??? Did you try with another charger? Dou you have fastcharge option enabled? For me fastcharge slowed down normal charging. Anyway, 10 hours is waaay to long. You can backup your ROM anf flash another just to se how it charges on other ROM. If it's the same, then you have a hardware problem

Firmware shouldn't cause it. I'm on old firmware, bit my phone charges fine. As I said, try some other ROM and see if it charges fine to rule out hardware fault. If you want to deal with backing up and reflashing that is. I remembered one more thing just now. What recovery do you have?
Mine phone also discharged when playing games connected on charger. Without touching it, it took about 5h to charge, stock unrooted phone. Turned out that problem was in USB extention cord i used between charger and phone.. Now it charges in 2,5h.

my phone running stock firmware and sometimes it experiences slow charging as well...
i wonder if it is because of the background apps that are running or smth?
Funny thing. I've experienced this mythical slow charge exactly twice now, and so I decided to search around today. I am running ARHD 71.1 with ElementalX 14.2.
Both times it was not fully charged when I woke in the morning, and when I checked the battery history it charged at about the same rate as it had drained the previous day, which is obviously weird.
I'm wondering if it has to do with the way I plug it in or something. Or maybe there was a kernel anomaly (the next day I tried the old turning it off and on again, and it hung on bootsplash for a looooonng time, but then managed to boot. weird). :silly:

That's the same thing that I experience. I've not solved my problem for 100%. From time to time the "strange-charging-ghost" comes around but I don't know how and why. I just plug and unplug a few times and then its pretty normal. I hope that I don't have to get a repair because A: I am out of warranty and B: I don't know if it could get fixed. Anyway I just did a factory reset and flashed a RUU and everything was pretty normal.
Ps: my Diagnostic centre *#*#4636#*#* says that my battery is OK
So this is driving me crazy, and I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem or a software problem. Hopefully someone could give me some insight.
So about 2 months ago I installed CM 11 on my Droid 4 and it was my first time doing a custom ROM on an android device. I was extremely satisfied with the results of this as it improved my phone to a well optimized 4.4.2 and making my phone significantly faster compared to stock.
However, for the past 2-3 weeks my phone has become a completely broken mess. For starters the phone gave me strange battery statistics. When turned off and plugged in, the phone would read as 100%, but when I booted in CM 11 the battery would be at 60% and would every so often the phone would jump from 60% to about 15% in literally seconds. The phone shuts down during usage constantly, usually when the battery reads at <60%. Before it does so "Android System" would open up on the screen and immediately close then the phone will read "Shutting down..." sometimes doing so immediately after the boot screen. This became very infuriating so I loaded up stock to see if the same problem occurs. Sure enough, it did. However, before shutting down, the phone would keep going into cooldown mode multiple times. Sometimes it would cool down for only a few seconds, sometimes it would be in cooldown mode for up to 2-3 mins. With that information could someone please tell me what I can do? Do I need a new battery or a new ROM? or do I need a new phone all together? Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I have recently encountered this myself on stock ROM. The past few days were very hot and my Droid 4 shut down after going into cooldown mode when I used it for multiple tasks at the same time (browsing, bluetooth, music, etc.). It wouldn't even turn back on until it cooled down. My money is on the battery, I'm planning to swap it out tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

If you want can try just ROM install, no data wipe, no gapps.

It should be worth noting that once i started to notice the problem, I thought it was an issue in the latest snapshot for CM 11. It made sense as I had recently installed it. So I wiped the rom slot clean and went from M7 back to M6 and the problem still occurred.

I swapped the battery this morning, I have 1-2 lying around just in case.
I charged it to full and noticed that the device was not as hot during charging than before.
After this, I did some browsing and run a full AnTuTu benchmark and the Droid remained fairly cool.
So I think it's safe to say that it's the battery that tends to overheat the device.
I was on stock ROM.

Update 2: The new battery is working great so far. Only got it to as low as 50% as of now so can't say it's a perfect fix just yet.

Good to hear it! I used mine for a full day, I'm not saying the device is freezing cold now, but feels cooler and no shutdowns due to heat. Also seems like that some applications tend to heat things up better than others (TuneIn and UC Browser for example). Anyway, let's hope this prolong the life of our phones, I would hate to be without the keyboard.
