So I've seen the app that will allow the LED under the earpiece to light up while charging and from everything I understand there is no way to make that same light work as a notification.
I am wondering though if it would be possible to make the camera flash led to function as a notification light?

There should be..
Check out lightflow, I'm pretty sure it has the ability to use camera flash for notifications..
I've never tried it on the moto x though, because we have active notifications.
But maybe you can give it a shot, good luck!

Yeah definitely! I've seen it on the iPhone and try google/the play store I haven't tried any.
Yes, just about any of the apps in the play store that use the camera LED for notifications will work. My brother inlaw wanted that feature on his Moto X after he saw one of his co-workers have that function on their iPhone.
He loves the feature because he cranks the stereo in his car so can see the flash when a call (or whatever you set it to notify you on) comes in.
I use Flash Alerts Pro to make my camera flash light up rapidly when i get a text notification. Works great

I REALLY don't know what this could be but every time I send/receive a message through WhatsApp, the phone speaker makes a little humming noise. Could be described more as if a little fan is on. When the message is sent/received, it stops. I don't think it's because it's wifi because I checked while browsing but it doesn't make any sound. The speaker works fine and everything sounds normal which makes it even more confusing. It makes this noise during vibrate (sound off) and even when normal sound is on.
Is my phone the only one like this? It doesn't really bother. I just would like to know why and how it happens.
May be it is the only sound that gives this feeling ??

Are you sure it's not the actual sound file that WhatsApp uses when it sends and receives a message?
I can't check as I'm using SGS2 and that may use a different sound to SGA.

Sound file? You mean change the message ringtone? I've always used the same one and just noticed this problem. And it happens when the phone is on Vibrate.
Ever since the 4.2.1 update I've noticed an extremely obnoxious issue when listening to music. Texts and other notifications interrupt the music when using headphones or even the speaker. What's more annoying is that traditionally (this holds true on all android phones and iPhones I've ever owned) one simply puts the phone in either vibrate or silent mode and no more notifications interrupting your music. In Jelly Bean, it seems they forgot to implement this. Regardless of what sound profile I am in, silent, vibrate or normal my text tone comes through my headphones and interrupts the music.
Does anyone know a good way to fix this issue? Maybe a settings option I missed? Disabling text notifications ever time I listen to music would be a little ridiculous. I text while I listen to music all the time and it's highly annoying.

you don't need the music to stop to know a text has come in, as the OP said he wants a constructive fix for his issue not senseless comments which don't help the issue.
I would like to second the OP's Request, I have had this issue since ICS 4.0.4 where any notification will pause the music for a couple of seconds, this has been the HARDEST thing to get used to from my past life as devoted iPhone user. it is very frustrating, and I've noticed that I don't believe its OS related, but actually the individual application which deals with how the notifications interrupt.
Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that Spotify does pause the music, along with the Walkman app, but I seam to remember a more niche player just lowering the volume for notifications.
unfortunately I don't believe this is something we as a community can fix, other than to recommend your application maker to update their app.

Which Xperia are you using? If it really becomes too big an issue, there is always the option of rooting and using a different ROM.

I'm using the T. But I have yet to use Poweramp and test it because it has a separate setting for notification focus. Yes I think a CM rom might fix it. But as of now I don't want CM coz stock is way better.
Guys, Kit Kat is running smoothly here. The only thing that is bothering me a little is that after the update, when I access a notification from Whatsapp on Active Display it goes to the top of the chat, not on the bottom like it was previously. Anyone else with this little issue?

Since you use whatsapp, can you check something else for me. Can you send a voice message to someone through whatsapp and check the volume of the message. On the MotoX I find the recording volume is very low compared to Galaxy S3 or HTC sensation. I was wondering if this was an issue with all MotoX s or if my phone is defective.

It's not a bug in your device. I have the same issue in my Moto X XT1058 both in 4.2.2. and 4.4 stock, no unlocked bootloader, no fancy kernels, NADA.
Looks like Whatsapp is either using the wrong mic, or it's setting its recording volume waaaay too low
This is actually true on all recording apps. its like an over compensation of noise cancelation. If you use the app Hi Q mp3 it will be very low. But if you change the mic setting to RAW its loud but a lot of background noise.

One thing that would put this watch way over the top for me is a notification LEDs. I know it would be more of a novelty or acetic part of the watch, but looking at the color and shape of the dark minute tick marks on the bezel I think this is entirely possible. I hope it is more than just 1 LED so notifications can have cool patterns. It is shown in the teaser video, but too much CG to tell what is real and what is flashy production.
Thoughts?

Going by the images Malte Klingbeil has extracted from the Official Teaser, it seems to be possible to light up the bezel
If that will hold true (the watches at the IFA didn't seem to have it) it could be used as a notification led, especially the triangle at the 12 hour mark
I personally don't see the need for it, thats what you have the screen for, but hey, choice is always good
Hey, ive had the watch for 2 weeks now, and the device vibrates on your wrist to instruct you of any updates, there is no notification light because the screen is set to always on, so if you see the xcreen you'll be aware of a notification, I hope this helped

Mine sound fantastic. It does depend on the source obviously as to how loud and clear they get. That being said I've never heard it fade up and down while listening to a movie, song, video, etc...

Yes, it sounds like some 'automatic gain control' or 'dynamic range compression'.
I don't understand why reviewers did not notice this issue.

Anyone found a solution for this or it just is what it is? Also notice the volume increases when I rotate the landscape view..then normalizes lower after a few seconds...
I've hard reset....flashed a fresh copy of 5.0.1 still no solution? Could this be a hardware issue?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
same problem. stock non-root 64gb white. (and also terrible 2d performance as reported in other threads.)
the way to duplicate the misbehavior of the speaker volume:
go into settkngs/sound & notification.
simple raise the volume one notch lower than the maximum on slider next to ring volume.
once it set, the volume should loud and clear.
close the settings.
browser the phone or internet for a couple mins
come back to settings, touch the same slider for ring volume, without sliding it. the volume will be faded out/low.
touch the slider 2nd time: volume fades in/load.
but I can't duplicate the same behavior with other audio apps. only with ringtones and notification sounds

I had the same issue with my Nexus 6. Found a solution somewhere to disable the experimental nuplayer. Did that, rebooted - no good. But then I just turned the nuplayer back on for no reason. Sound is fine after that. It's been almost 10 days now, so I assume the effect is permanent.
Nuplayer setting can be changed from developer options.

Maybe a hardware issue? Someone mentioned applying equal pressure to the speakers. I tried it but didn't notice a difference. Just flashed 5.1, still nothing.
I'm noticing the landscape thing too.
When I first received mine (navy 32g, T-Mobile) I noticed the bottom speaker stuck out slightly more than the top, and it wiggled a little too.
Anyone notice something similar?
May be relavant to this issue, Do you guys have this issue ?
Received my brand new nexus 6 from carphoneware house UK & confirm that issue is still there. I can see distorted sounds when playing ringtones & Google voice search.
I upgraded to 5.1 but issue is still there so assume it must be some hardware issue.
Replacement handset on its way so lets see if it has same problem.
Had this problem when I first got my nexus ... its like the volume goes down to about what normally half sounds like sometimes even lower and at times fluctuates. I didn't have another phone at the time so I couldn't send it back and I hoped it was just a software problem but I have went from 5 > 5.1 > Chroma and even tried other things like switching nuplayer setting even trying Viper. Only have it effecting music (that I have noticed) :crying:

I have the same untill yesterday, I root my nexus 6 with the NEXUS TOOL from Wugfresh in less than 3 minutes... Then I install the CUSTOM ROM BENZO and Woala!
no more Audio Issues and its 10 times faster than original Android.. Incredible fast.
I purchase the nexus on Saturday, thank god!
I only have the issue of the sound being cut off for a second when I rotate the screen sometimes. Doesn't always occur. The device itself has a gain lock tho, to prevent the hardware being damaged.

there's a build.prop edit that supposedly fixes that (although l/r speakers will be reversed). I remember seeing it posted on reddit /r/nexus6 a few days ago, might want to search there if it bothers you.
