I am unlocked, s-off, rooted and the drive activation to receive the promotional 50gb didn't work, i contacted HTC and they told me I wasn't eligible cuz i unlocked, so i told them that it was never mentioned and they said its nothing they could do....fast forward 4 days later, i get an email about a survey about how my exp was with their support team, I gave them a bad review and the next day, guess what, i was contacted because i left such a bad review, within about 2 days i get the email tonight and a link and know i have my space! so.....
TLDR: If reps say you aren't eligible, if you care, leave a bad review on the survey and they will honor the promo
And consumers ftw...

Nice, I forgot to get mine before I unlocked. Might have to try to contact them.
I did a chat with HTC support this morning. I just told the rep I would like the 50 gig promotion. Asked for my Name, phone # & IMEI. I didn't bring up that I unlocked my phone nor did the rep even ask. Took only a few minutes, I got the e-mail maybe an hour later or less. No questions asked. I did the survey for rep and rated everything high since he didn't care or ask about unlocking. Thanks op
Chat session worked for me also. Never asked about being unlocked.
This is what I did to get my 50GB of drive.

Not a bad method either. I cleared my tampered flag a while ago but still am unlocked. So when your s-off it doesn't really matter if it's locked or unlocked does it? It's still BS they "flag" phones not to include the promo.
Wonder if it would be worth a measly 50 GB of drive space. Right now they are giving me 1 TB of Google Drive space

OK so I cleared the tampered flag, went back to locked and now what? Could it be because I am using a custom rom that I don't get any mention of the promo while on google drive's product tour?

Why would AT&T lock this phone but not the Skyrocket?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA App
This is like 10th thread saying the same thing, Except AT & T all the variations of HTC Holiday/Raider/ support unlocking the boot loader via htcdev.com.
This has been true for all the recent HTC devices launched at least in Canada and Europe.
htcdev.com does not list HTC Raider as support device but the process works and including me many were able to unlock the boot loader.

This was my email:
Thank you for offering to address my concern.
I purchased the HTC Vivid based on public statements by the HTC CEO that all future boot loaders would be unlocked.
The HTC Raider, which is identical to the Vivid but sold outside the USA has an unlocked boot loader, as does the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket on AT&T.
HTC has implied that it is AT&T that is not allowing the vivid boot loader to be unlocked, but that seems rediculous based on the skyrocket's status.
I would like to know:
1. Why the bootloader is locked?
2. Why it is not possible to unlock it?
3. and when this will be remedied?
I want a fair and honest answer on when an unlock will be available, because I have 7 days left to return the Vivid and consider taking my multi-line wireless service to another carrier.
In full disclosure, any response you provide and the details of this exchange will be shared with the xda developer community as several members have also stated their desire to leave HTC and AT&T if this is not resolved.
Thanks

As much as it would help us to get HTC to unlock it, I doubt most of us want to void our warranties.
Like someone said a few posts above, if we can get evil_devnull a device, maybe we'll be in luck.
I bought the Vivid about 7 days ago, I've got 3 weeks left, I don't want to leave it, but will if this issue is not fixed.
Also, maybe if we can get unrevoked or Alpharev (or maybe even both!) to help, that would be great.
^ EXACTLY! Screw HTC, why are we waiting on them? Let's use some of the money from the bounty thread to get the best dev a device, and hopefully they can get the job done. If we can get it done our way, then we can revert back to stock and not lose our warranties.
So it us completely and utterly impossible to use an AT&T atrix hd on Tmo w/o paying?

No its not possible at all. You will have to pay your phone bill.
Contrary in what you believe in, throughout all phone history, there has been only a few phones you can fool with the unlock codes, like the galaxy line, and really old nokias. Really !!!
Unlocks go around $13-17 on ebay, mine took 3 days so I was fairly dissapoint.

For Motorola are more services available, there is a cheaper service that does not work for all phones, but tere is a service for not found phones ,which even if is a bit more expensive ( around 12$) should unlcok your phone

Just got myself an AT&T Moto X. I am in India right now and dont see any option to e-mail the guys at AT&T. For some reason they want me to register. Can anyone help me out with this? I need to SIM unlock the phone. How do I reach AT&T via e-mail?
This is the AT&T International (+1 916 843 4685) phone number. Can call that 1-2 times if you can and try to convince you to give you a code, but lately seems they do not give codes unless you have or had a contract with them and use the form from their website to request for it. If that is not working can just buy an unlock code should be around 12$

Willing to get things rolling with $20 for someone who can get root without using the HTCDev root for the Sprint variant.
If it's possible to retain HTC Warranty, I think it'd be worth looking into.
Anyone else agree?
Greetings,
There is already a Bounty thread for the M8 (it does say for all GSM variants) but there is mention of Sprint devices in said thread.
If I remember correctly @beaups said he will not be working on an HTC-Dev workaround (meaning any device that is unlockable through HTC-Dev) maybe he'll pop in and clarify.
I'll leave the thread open for now, there may be other devs working on an exploit.

Specifically, root without HTC Dev (which is currently the only way to achieve root on any non-Verizon variants).
Personally I've never had any issues with warranty concerns and I've used HTC Dev on every device I've had since the OG EVO. It's relatively easy to restore the device to a completely unrooted/stock state once you've gotten S-OFF, so I've never seen a need to find an alternative method to root.

They have a record of your having requested an unlock code, sure. But that doesn't mean you ever used it to unlock the device.
Unless they have some reason to suspect that you've harmed your device by unlocking it, I doubt HTC would bother checking. And Sprint definitely wouldn't bother checking with HTC to see if that's the case if the device appears to be in stock condition.
I've returned many devices to Sprint for warranty replacements and one device to HTC directly and have NEVER had an issue.

That's a good point, I have returned devices to Sprint when I was on Sprint and they didn't ask me anything or even check the bootloader, they just replaced it.
I am not sure how much interested for developers this particular request will generate, but we'll see...
Thanks for the clarification Captain..
I was confused because I didn't think it was possible to get perm root on an HTC device without unlocking the bootloader..
Why not take the device back to the carrier instead of shipping back to HTC?
I do not believe there to be a permroot available without having first unlocked the bootloader or at least, I haven't seen it done.
I don't know much about the m8 as I'm on the t6 but both t6 and m7 didn't need to use htc-dev.
