Xposed Framework on S4 Active

I just tested Nottach Xposed on the (rooted) active (Thanks Geohot!!!) for science, and I was able to remove the NFC and Smart Stay icons without any issues, so I would assume the majority of the other functions work as well. You will recieve a warning message stating the device is not compatible, but just ignore it.
To install the mod, please visit the following threads in order:

TL;DR (joshuadjohnson22):
1. Install the APK from here
a. Download XposedInstaller.apk and install it
b. Launch the Xposed Installer and click on "Install/Update"
c. Reboot
2. Install the APK from here
3. Enable the module in Xposed

Ignore it or modify the build prop so it doesn't show at all.

Have you tested to see if the crt screen off animation works? That would be the only reason why I'd install this. Also, do mods persist after deleting the app?

Nope, I was more interested in getting rid of the baby vomit green status bar icons

Tried it. Nothing really worked. Uninstalled.

You have to go back into Xposed and enable it in the Modules section. I should have added that to the steps but I found out the hard way. OP please update this

I have chose a lot of settings and everyone of them works. Most have to do with hiding things in the status bar and notification center. Install xposed update reboot, install nottach reboot, enable nottach in the modules of exposed. Chose settings in notch and reboot. Worked like a charm
Now probably a few things do not work but everything I have tried has worked

Under sound try volume up to change track?
Also I wasn't able to hide my clock, but it's real important to me to change track with volume

Hiding the clock works but I couldn't change songs with the volume rocker. But I'm not sure if I was doing it right, I used the default music app and it just adjusted the volume

Were you doing it with the screen off? I think the mod is for that. They figure if you have the screen on, you can just do it in the app.

Nope didn't try that. Not a feature I need so I disabled

So far mods that work with the Xposed/nottach install:
Custum carrier on lockscreen and status bar.
Tap clock for apo (clock)
Change battery icon
Hide "select input method" for kb
Hide emegency call button on lockscreen
Most color/font/size changes (all that I have tried)
Really great mod for customizations.

I could not get the change battery icon setting to work. I tried Circle_1, Circle_2, and Minimal, but none of them did anything after reboot. Is there something else I should be doing? Nottach is the only mod that I have installed.

I didn't do anything special with my Nottach install and it is also the only mod i have installed. I can't really experiment at the moment, as I'm dealing with other issues. I'll post a response as soon as I get a battery.

Battery icon didn't work for me as well.

Ditto here... but I was at least able to remove the green battery icon... and I just have the built in battery percentage indicator.

I've done the same, but I was hoping to be able to change the battery indicator to one of the Circle mods. Hopefully somebody can figure it out now that Nottach has open-sourced his mod.

GEL coming to all 4.1+ devices?

A huge Google Search update started rolling out earlier today. It is absolutely massive on many levels:
It officially brings Search version 3 (3.1.8 to be exact) that shipped in KitKat to all devices running 4.1+. This includes an updated UI, new refresh animation, among other things.
Because Search houses the Google Experience Launcher (GEL) inside, this update also brings GEL to all. All you need to do after installing Search 3.1.8 is install the launcher app from here, and voila - GEL for all, not just KitKat devices. I have it running on 4.1, 4.3, and 4.4 on both phones and tablets, and it finally looks perfect.
As I mentioned above, 3.1.8 completely fixes the wonky GEL layout on tablets. As you may have seen yesterday, several things on the Nexus 7, for example, were out of whack - the keyboard was popping when you tapped Home, the icons were old, and the Search box was off-center. All fixed.
New cards:
Website update card
News topic card
What to watch card
Traffic incidents using Waze on maps.
Repeat reminders.
Real-time scores for rugby teams
See when your packages are ready for in-store pickup.
You can now bring back dismissed cards by pressing Undo.
But seriously, did you see that? GEL for all, with the help of one additional APK, now optimized for devices other than just the Nexus 5. This is what we've been waiting for. Of course, Google should also upload the launcher stub that we need to install manually to the Play Store and make it really painless for everyone. I don't see any reason why this won't happen once they verify GEL works fine on as many hardware variations as possible.
On that note, where did the individual card settings and toggles go? I can't find them anymore.

Anyone have this yet for their 4.4 N7s?
Edit: I got this going now by basically doing these steps:
1. Update to 4.4
2. Install the GEL (AndroidPolice Mirror: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291676903)
3. Install the updated search (AndroidPolice Mirror: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291677093)
Hit the Home button and make Google Launcher your default and you're good to go.
Transparent notification bar and navigation bar working. Google Now always listening ("OK Google") working as well.

Can confirm this fixes the keyboard bug and the wonky search box.
Also, remember to install in that order guys!
The search APK (the second one) needs to be installed on the device, adb fails.

There's no need to install the google search apk. It is already on the play store, you just need to update it. You need to install just the launcher apk.

Still have the search bar overlapping with widgets bug in landscape, but i can live with it.

Does GEL override the default launcher?

GEL is there in addition to the regular launcher. It doesn't replace it.
I installed these on a Nexus 7 running 4.3 and they work fine. They also work on the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 (Android 4.3). A great way to get a pure Android launcher going while still having access to Touchwiz features/apps.

Weird - I get transparency on my Nexus 7 (2012) after installing the Google Search update and the GEL.
Also installed GEL on my HTC One X. No transparency on there, but to be fair I'm running 4.2.2 via ARHD. It works well though, but I miss some of the widgets I used to have, and the ability to hide apps from the drawer.

I know - that's why I said it worked on my Nexus 7 running 4.4 but pointed out that my One X isn't running 4.4. Apologies if I didn't make that clear enough.

On my 2013 Nexus i've Google Now in GEL. On my 2012 Device Google Now is missing. Can someone confirm this?

for me GEL showing me black navi bar no matter what i do. switched to nova beta and it worked like charm.
besides i dont use google now, and i think installing GEL will keep mic and other services alive hence more battery drain.

[Q] VZW LG G2 KitKat official - Missing Notification Access?

I'm running the official KK ROM and am unable to locate "Notification Access" or the notification history that was supposedly added in 4.3. It's supposed to be under Settings > Security > Notifications, but there's no such thing on my device. This is supposed to replace the Accessibility Services system for apps wanting to better control notifications.
I have 5 apps listed under Accessibility Services: Greenify and Light Flow and then 3 related to my Pebble Steel- Pebble, Nav Me, and Music Boss.
All are turned off in Accessibility Services and appear to be working properly. Light Flow does not give me a warning that the notification system needs to be enabled.
Where do I toggle these notifications services?

Hmm, you're right, it's not accessible through the settings menu. However, some launchers, (like Nova) can create an activity shortcut to that service/setting. Alternatively, there are apps available on the Play Store that can create activity shortcuts as well.

btw it turned out light flow, music boss, and nav me were already granted access. I'm wondering if one of those apps took me to that settings page before to have me enable it's access, and I granted it to everything listed at that time.

I know LightFlow does prompt for access/permission when you install/open it, and I would assume the other apps you mention probably do as well.

it's possible. I have some apps that take me to the old accessibility services page still. I didn't know there was a new notification access system when I would have enabled those settings. when I installed a new app it that required this, it took me to accessibility, but then said not to use accessibility in 4.3+ lol. I was confused until I discovered the new notification access, and even more confused when I couldn't find it's settings page.

is it possible to get the brightness slider in the status bar?
I was only able to find this thread where a similar mod is described for the Xperia Z.
I got root and CWM 6.0.5.0 on my Z2.
But locked bootloader.

Try Xposed Xperia by serajr.
In latest version (v.3), you can add sliders tab and something similar...

Best is Gravity Box (KK), this is module, so You must have Xposed Installer and installed Xposed framework.
In statusbar options is swipe brightness function, just swipe from left to right for brightness

Now i tried xposed with xperia V Mods.
But i didnt want to test the v3 because it is in beta status and wasnt offered to me in the framework app. There only was the v2.6.1
With this version i am only able to change a few for me unimportant options.
So im going to try the other proposals.
But thank you anyway

Yes, work fine

Since i've installed the framework and gravity box, i noticed a very high battery drain.
Before the installation it was easy for me to use the phone 2 days. Even because the drain over night has been nearly 0-1%.
Now the battery lasts only 1 day and loses 12-13% in the night.
In the gravity box i only changed these options:
- Brightness slider on taskbar
- flashlight on lockscreen by volume key
- flashlight by long pressing recent apps softkey
- long press back softkey to force close an app
- skip track by long pressing volume key in stdby
- CRT shutdown animation
I would like to remove gravity box, xposed and framework. To proof whether the drain comes from this stuff, or from something else.
Can i simply uninstall those apps oder do i have to reset something?

you can deactivate them from xposed app. if you want to completely remove them you can uninstall directly. nothing special.

Battery drain? I have Xposed with Gravity Box and more modules and my battery is fine.

Yes, this is the experience i made...
When i uninstalled xposed and gravity box, my battery was back in old behaviour.
And of course, yes, i rebooted everytime i installed the xposed or gravity box.
Now i'm using Lux auto and i'm satisfied

use Xoẻia xposed kk v3.0 & 3.1 or use gravitybox

Gravity Box is a great app I use this myself on stock software and rooted. I have the option set to slide my status bar for the brightness, also have you seen the screen off effect called 'CRT' that's cool ?

Especially it feature to dimm your screen below zero percent - great thing to save battery and eyes while you are using device at the night...

Edge Sense Plus was initially just meant for the HTC U series. It let's you customize the squeeze action and adds some more squeeze gestures and features.
But with the Pixel2 and Pixel3 also coming with a squeezable frame I found a way to make it compatible too.
Since google locked active edge down to just only be able to start Assistant it will require a device rooted with magisk
Requirements
You need to run a STOCK based ROM, because Active Edge is broken on AOSP roms.
You need to be rooted with magisk to use it.
Install the Active Edge System Mod Magisk Module from the MagiskManager Repo and the EdgeSensePlus from the playstore and you are ready to go!

How does it work
To make it working on the Pixel3 I had to modify the SystemUIGoogle.apk that runs the ElmyraService (Service that processes the squeeze gestures).
I intercept the events and pass them to the EdgeSensePlus Application that starts the appropriate action then that you selected.
Some more adjustments were made, so the squeezing also works when you are in immersive mode, camera or when Google Assistant is deactivated/uninstalled.

What can it do?

Per App Action - Execute different squeeze actions depending in what app you are!

Per app actions:
With the per app action, you can define different squeeze actions per app. So the chosen action will be executed dependent in what app you are currently are.
Double Squeeze: (Premium)
If you often accidentally trigger a short squeeze, that won't happen anymore if you map your desired action to the double squeeze gesture.
You can define a double squeeze interval, to ensure you are quick enough to trigger it every time.
Long Squeeze:
Missed a long squeeze action on your Pixel? Edge Sense Plus has it!
G-Sensor usage: (Premium)
If enabled, will be able to execute different actions depending on the current position of your device, whether it is flat or upright in your hand.
That way you can have six different squeeze gestures: short, long, doublepress in flat or upright device position.
Media control:
The media control will override your set squeeze actions while media is playing so you can control your media.
That includes play/pause, increase/decrease volume and skip to next and previous track.
Squeeze sounds:
Ever thought it would be funny if a squeeze of your Pixel3 would make a sound, if it is a *click*, *oink* , *fart* or whatever you think of?
You can use any .mp3 file to make that happen!
Sidebar:
The Sidebar has 4 different panels, Applications, Shortcuts, Recent Apps (Premium), Quicksettings (Premium).
Panel colors are customizable

Instructions
You must be on at least Oreo 8.1 to to be able to use it. Root with Magisk is required since the magisk module is mandatory!
It is recommended to have a working TWRP backup in case something goes wrong. Check the FAQ for help too.

Flash the Magisk Module either in Magisk Manager or TWRP

This thing is awesome. I didn't originally check it on XDA because I had no idea what it was. Last night I found it while browsing the Magisk modules and man I'm loving it. Just bought the premium version.

Sure, those shortcuts can launch the short and long squeeze actions, but are actually just required for non rooted HTC devices or AOSP Roms on Pixel.
You can hide those in Edge Sense Plus in the Configuration section, it is the very last option in this section and called "App drawer shortcuts".

you dont need the shortcuts though, you can disable them

Don't know why but now camera won't launch if screen is off/locked.
I'm using last magisk canary (19.4) and v40 of magisk module.
It works if screen is on.

What rom you are on, it wont work on an AOSP rom, just on stock.

There was an issue with may patch where google added some more restrictions when starting apps in background.
I fixed that with an update to Edge Sense Plus by starting a shell command to start it. You are on latest version of the app I guess though?
I have not much Pixel 3a users to test. But it works on the regular pixel 2 and 3. Can you maybe join the telegram group and share a logcat?
