[Q] HTC Warrenty - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I bought htc one, almost 6 month ago. It was amazing nd all but i still felt it wasnt working well.
Then i used some roms .. didnt help much. battery was killed. I thought it was coz of rom. Well then finally after asking alot of advice here, I returned htc one to 100% factory settings (pain in the a..) then sent it to warrenty.
Here is a list of all things they changed (attachment). Is that normal?
did i have a really badly made htc one? or did i broke the components by using unoffical chargers/roms/kernels etc etc etc.????
Since I have noticed that it works WAY faster and battery is way better than it was.
maybe its coz i used xcover 2 the time htc one was away so i kinda got used to that piece of s... ? anyhow im way more satesfied with it now than before. but still, this is first time i sent phone to warrenty so i dont know if this much changes to the device is normal or not
Ps. The reason for giving it to warrenty: battery would get to 100%, when unpluged worked normal until 60-70%, then it would just die. no way to turn it on without puting it on charger atleast for 20 minutes.
(if i didnt put it on charger.. after 2-3 hours it would magiclly get 20-40% charge lol)
sorry about my english guys

Wow they changed a lot of things here!
I see 2 options, either your battery over heated and died + damaged some components or they damaged the phone when trying to open it to change the faulty battery/usb port.
Don't worry, at least your phone is working good now, there is so much horror stories about warranty repair here, glad to see yours came back in good condition.

Thanks for the reply bro.
Now i wanna know what caused the death of the battery. was it coz i used some unoffical chargers?
(like samsung charger which is for note 10.1 tablet, and some nokia chargers)
or was it coz i flashed roms way too frequently?
I m scared to unlock it again and start flashing but i really want to

You should only use official chargers, or at least be sure they output the same voltage (5v). There are some tablets charger (i.e Asus TF101) that output 10V and that amount of voltage will probably kill the battery....
Maybe it was only a bad battery, maybe damaged by CPU overheat.... who knows
Flashing roms doesn't damage the battery

Ok, so the culprit was the tablet charger.
Well its good to know about the roms then finally can get back to CM11 until offical sense 6

[SOLVED] OFFICIAL & UNOFFICIAL batteries don't charge and question mark

Hi all,
First of all, sorry if someone talks about it earlier, I red about 10 pages in Development & this topic and found just NOTHING about it, or no solution.
I bought two batteries for my Milestone, a genuine and a compatible. Both aren't working. My phone power on with them in (sorry I think this isn't English lol) but it can't charge them (no LED, and no effective battery charging !). What's more, I have question mark in the battery icon !
I tried almost everything including trying EACH famous ROM (batteries is just working with a MIUI-based on ROM and I hate this one a lot (very slow) and I'm an iOS-like hater) and (except MIUI) it doesn't work !
Even with CM(6&7&9), the FroyoMod 2.9.3, HO!NO!Mod7.2.0RC0 ! What's the problem ?
If you have any proposal or solution, do not hesitate to tell me !
Thank you all !
Sounds to me like your USB port may have bit the dust...If you have to keep the phone, I'd say buy an external charger off of ebay, they're pretty cheap. For 15 USD you can probably get a charger + 2 generic batteries, which isn't too bad!

Sorry but you're wrong. I said (and this is a fact) that i can charge my genuine battery with MIUI. So no problem with USB.
Moreover, I still have my first battery fully working and charging with ANY ROM and have no question mark ! But that, you can't imagine it sorry :/
(I don't really control the English therefore you should not be vexed by my answer)
But thank you very much for your proposal. I try to explain better :
Note that I still have the first battery and it is fully working (charging with anything but have some draining issue)
I bought two batteries, one genuine and one compatible. Unhappily the compatible one die (I left it in my phone till empty..).
The fact is, except on MIUI ROM, I CAN'T charge the battery and the battery icon is... a question mark. Had someone the same issue and solved it ? If yes, please give me the trick. If not, you're guys like me, you can propose all of your ideas obviously.
Sorry for bad English
The genuine battery (the one you bought recently) won't charge? By genuine you mean original motorola? But the original one that came with phone is working properly? And the battery you bought recently, the one that is not original motorola, died because it drained it iself and now does not charge anymore?

OK. The (sold as by a famous french shop (FNAC)) genuine battery which I bought recently won't charge except on MIUI and always show a question mark (except on MIUI obviously). Sold as an official Motorola battery, that's genuine for me.
Yes the original one coming with the phone is working properly And the compatible one bought recently isn't an original (not sold as but looks pretty much the same as an original) and died because it drained it iself (because used in the phone) and now does not charge anymore.
Sorry if there are misunderstandings :/ (because of my misformulated English)!
I belive it is safe to assume that those new batteries are defective. You have one (phone's original) that is working flawlessly while new ones fail.
It is because of the implementation of one percent battery steps. if you are using cm , try disabling them. It is working fine with miui because it does have it implemented

I disagree. It works on MIUI, so they aren't defective It was obviously relevant to the ROM and no to the battery !

WTF !? You're wright for the genuine one ! I will try with the compatible one later. Thank you so much !!
EDIT : It works with the compatible one, thank you again ! Now, I've three batteries... Too much ^^

[Q] Battery problems G1

Hi to everyone! I have a g1 and I decided to use it again. I replaced the battery for a new one (I bought it few days ago). When I used after charging it all night it just lasted 3 hours. Then I googled for solutions and I did all what I found (charge it full and reset battery stats and let it drain all, charge it with the phone off, etc) without results. Then I tried one Barry with more capacity (the ones that you need to change the cover) that a friend have and was the same. After more or less three hours, the phone turned off. I had cyanogenmod 7 installed with the latest radio and spl. Today I tried with stock room, unrooted with the same results.
If someone knows a solution, please let me know. Thanks
It may be your ROM, but this is very new to me, even those big ones? Try another ROM:FroyoByLazslo is my favourite and fastest
I'm checking with the stock rom, but I'm going to give a try. Thanks!
Hi,
maybe you overclocked it very much; this can use very much battery. If you want to save energy, you should undervolt it...
Hardy
Hmmm, I don't think is that. I tried with the stock room (1.6) and was the same. And this morning I tried to use the phone, but I had decided last night to turn it off to save battery and was dead! Maybe the phone has something... today I flashed the room froyo by laslo, looks good and is fast! I'm going to underclock it and see what happen. Also I read something about a draining problem when you connect it in the laptop through usb, might it is the cause of all this?
Only with some kernels, if your drain problem is due to software then flash a different kernel

Yeah, may didn't wipe during a ROM change?
PS: You're welcome!
HI, after checking all that you say. I wipe all and after I charged the battery, y wip e the stats and now is working better! With the normal one, I get 6 hours on standby and with normal use, 4..... I tried with 2200mhA and I get 12 hours with medium use, but I with this one the phone is bulky..... BUt well now is my gps!
Thanks!
No prob dude we are here to help the guys who need help, that's why it's a forum XD
TC, you must understand that all G1 batteries are quite old now. They were made betwixt 2008-2010, batteries begin losing their max charge right after they are made in the factories. It's only natural for your battery life to be poor, batteries can be damaged heavily by heat sources, my notebook's battery life became 5 Minutes b/c the wear level was extremely high. I assume your G1's battery is in "bad" condition cell wise. Either calibrate or buy an OEM battery(3rd batteries are tricky). If you calibrate try one of these...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187698
Also if you need battery you should honestly stick with cupcake, donut. Anything past that is already sluggish and pushes the G1, which means the CPU is always at max which leads to shorter battery. And lets not forget the post donut versions have more services and what not.

What's wrong with 3rd party batteries? In my experience I've had two different ones bought off eBay and each worked better than my new OEM battery.

[Q] Battery is extremely swollen, can I still use my phone?

I've already ordered a new battery, but the one I have at the moment is so swollen that the case wont go on, I've sellotaped it in place. Can I still use it for a couple of days until my new one arrives or should I stop immediately?

i had the same problem, i have the battery replaced already, but i was able to use my phone normally, just keep in mind battery will not last as it usually did, for me it lasted about 30 min,
Oh, im only using is while its plugged in now, so when I get home I can browse the web etc, Im not taking it out of my room as it would be useless to me. As long as my life isnt being risked by having the thing beside me.

It is kind of a danger as such swollen batteries may have a chance of exploding if it keeps expanding itself....also has chances of an acid leak.....

Or a smaller vicious battery might emerge from your swollen battery's belly and start hunting other electronic devices.

Ideally one should not use mobile phone as long as it is charging and also should avoid overcharging the battery. Battery overcharging is one of the reason of battery swelling. Most of us have a habit of charging their mobile phone during night and we do not unplug the charger when the battery is fully charged. Over a period of time, this actually hampers the battery life and also causes battery swelling.
You can use 'Full Battery Alarm App' android app developed by Replay Creation. This app sounds an alarm when the battery is fully charged so that charger cable can be unplugged to avoid battery overcharging.
App can be downloaded from google play store.
Actualy u shld avoid using it because it might explode.
I have recently seen that my samsung galaxy j5 (2015)battery has been swollen ..but I can lock my back cover ,there is some silly difference during locking...but my battery has swollen 40%more than normal...can I use it..or there may be any type of explosion /blasting in mY mobile???..plz help

[SOLVED] Battery Problem or Short Circuit?

good day fellow xda members, i just need advice regarding my note..
Situation:
1. The phone screen flickers and shuts down when using WIFI and listening to MUSIC at the same time.
2. If I use the phone for MUSIC ONLY, the phone doesn't turn off.
3, If I connect the phone to a wall charger, it doesn't turn off..
4.If I turn the phone on, the battery percentage is almost the same before it turned off.
additional info: the phone is 1 year old. and i reflashed it to FULL STOCK
My question now, is this a simple battery problem where i only need to replace the battery? Or the phone is short circuit? AFAIK. short circuit happens when the phone is submerged to water.
I'm asking this question because one store here sells genuine battery BUT they don't offer warranty... sick right??
any comment or suggestion??
UPDATE:: I recently got a new battery, its a genuine 2500 mah battery from Samsung and it costs around 1690 in Philippine peso or around $40 in USD....
and it magically cured all problems..
if you found this thread after google searching, I'm glad to help...
Hi, why did you mentioned water problem, did your phone came in contact with water. If so or if you think your phone got any humidity, try to remove it. There are some posts how to do it. 2. Try with another battery (your friends), see the problems remain or solved. 3. Try a good GB rom, stock or custom (before you buy a new battery).

How strange is this ... so Basically the stock battery that Samsung sells does not last more than a year ???
a lot of users who purchased it more than a year ago are having the same flickering issue ... that is sad.. Bad SAMSUNG

My phone started couple days ago. A year and two months old. Guess it's time to go buy a battery. Will update.
Edit: bought a new battery. Problem gone. Also enjoying renewed battery life.
Even mine was acting same.. exactly from a week now.. for one year old phone.. ordered a new battery in Samsung service center.

Does not boot. Only showing Battery in a loop

Hi, I have a funny problem since today morning. I came home yesterday and plugged the N7000 on the official loader. It flashed up as it ever does and I went to bed. Today I went to my phone and the only thing it does is showing the Battery with a non rotating circle in there. The same thing happening when the battery is fully dead, but before it continues to boot further the screen starts to flicker like if the battery is fully dead and powers down. Then it does the same thing again and again and again. I cant intervene with any button combination at all as it seems.
One thing to note, I had the NX Kernel flashed and increased the USB charge power from 450 mAh to 600 mAh meaning the same power level as it uses on a real PSU. In theory this should not even make any problem here then.
What could I do? Any way to make it STFU and just charge the Battery to a useful level before it boots and seems like to use too much power to make charging of any use?
And the most important question? What could be the problem? The Battery is just a year old and a official one.

Because it's old and dying out, perhaps.

Or because of the USB. I dont know if it was the problem, but some twisting of the plug in the connector and some time lying around in the sun and it lives again ^^
