Stupid question, but I'm curious about it... Is someone trying to build a custom rom or nothing is moving underneath? Is it more difficult with this phone than with other, like RAZR M that has already several roms available?
Thank you.
AW: Custom Roms?
Hey there.
There are custom ROMs from papi32 (MIUI and AMBP or something like that, but based on Android 4.0.4 ICS) and some other guys trying to port cm10. And hazou builds his own kernel and successfully boot it. You can follow this thread for more information http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121213.
And yes it's very difficult to build/port custom ROMs to our device, because it has a x86 Intel atom processor. Most smartphones have ARM processors, so port ROMs from other devices is as difficult as try to port Android to normal computers.
But I think we will have custom roms, you just have to wait.

It's difficult because of the lack of source from Motorola (they released the strict minimum) and some particular implementations made by Motorola. Not because it's a x86 SoC....

I cant agree in complete with your post - you can use a lot of the precompiled modules from the 4.1.2 rom - if you do not use a newer kernel provided at sourceforge.
The reason is imho - there is no dev out there with an razr i and the time to build the dev tree and toolchain...

You right. The time to do it seems to be the major issue for the few dev that try it.
We don't need an army of devs (there's plenty of device with great customs rom thanks to only one or two great devs)... We just need someone that can figure it out and have the time (and of course the device) to go further into the job.
I'm totally sure that once will have a first release (even a pre-alpha roms like cm10.x) things will go faster
Okay, so it's clear that we all want development on our phone, but it's tedious and most of us do not have the knowledge to do it. Still, what can we commoners do to enforce development? should we contact motorola and spam them until they give out more code/assistance? Should we donate to the Liquid Smooth guys? look to hire someone?

maybe some has contact to quarx and can convince him to help. he is a xda-dev who really did magic with motorola phones even with an unlockable bootloader. (i know all the other moto phones aren't x86).
I had a defy+ before this phone and quarx is a freaking legend.

I really hope so!
I'd be careful about "hiring" someone. I saw the HTC Flyer guys get hosed when they collected a bounty for someone.
Hopefully the LiquidSmooth guys can figure it out. They haven't updated us on any progress, so I don't know what's going on, but they seem like a legit group. There's also the guys trying to port CM10. Progress is happening on that, but it's going slow because they don't have a lot of free time on their hands.

I guess that this might be interesting for you: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/10538-pi-llama-rom-v-02-argendroid-team/ Its likely the first real custom JB ROM development for RAZRI and the dev seems to know what he is doing...

Will Paranoid android come on our LGE p880? so no can someone port it? I would like the one who can!
Someone did say they were working on it. Be patient, it's early days
Sent from my rooted P880
I hope Paranoid Rom will come fast. (If the paranoid will be 4.2.2 it will be my daily driver)
i sent a msg on their FB but without reply. i will contact them in other way
To avoid confusion by someone working on it I meant unofficial port, so far it doesn't boot. PA never really appealed to me but with a screen this big it would actually be good!

Yeah For sure it woyld be freaking awesome with this creen I used Paranoid at my 3.5" phone that was terrible but this would be awesome!
I've been seeing a lot of rumors going around about a Google experience One that will run stock Android. If this were to come out, would it make a big difference in the development efforts of CM10.1 on our phone?
Having manufacturer support when it comes to software, especially Vanilla, is always a good thing for development.
Means that they would do most if not all of the coding necesarry to get everything on the up and up
Yes, it would help immensely. Especially if they released source code.

no ****, it is hard to make an AOSP-based ROM when you don't have the source code to base it on
and eedyhe
It would help IMMENSELY to have an official Vanilla Android rom. The CM team could use that as a base for a proper CM 10.1 rom for the Sprint HTC One.
Cm builds from the source then adds it's mods. Vanilla is its base. It sets the aosp bar for most devices.

I can only hope/wish/pray they find a way to use the ultra pixel camera/zoe/image sense/boom sound/IR Blaster etc..Because those "features" are what make this phone what it is..AOSP On a chunk of Aluminium will be sorta boring.
Maybe they'll re do the camera for the Google experience version, maybe 13MP?Can't wait to see what they are going to do
Hi all,
Is there a stock android ROM 4.2.2 similar to the Nexus 4 available to the HTC One. Had a little look in the Development section couldn't find one.
With the announcement of the HTC One Nexus Experience it has perked my interest however there's a possibility it won't come to the UK, therefore looking at getting a One and putting a stock ROM on it.
I am aware of Cyanogen Mod however I'm not a fan of it.

If you look in the right section you'll find some...

...yeah, no.
Talk about disrespectful....CyanogenMod is the closest you're going to get to bone-stock Android for a long time. The NE was only announced today. It doesn't even start shipping for another month.

I get that this seems to be a popular assumption, but that's not as much of a given thing as many of you would like to hope. HTC isn't obligated to release the source code for the NE One (only the kernel). If they bake Beats/Camera stuff into that ROM, there's no guarantee that our CM10.1 build will get it.
I have no doubt someone will turn the NE's ROM into a rooted stock ROM for you to flash, but I really wouldn't expect it to help CM10.1 all that much.
Once the release the HTC One with stock rom, will it be easier to port it?
Will we be able to get a fully functional working rom?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Of course it will be easy to port it. Porting aosp roms to the LG Optimus G is dead simple because internally it is identical to the Nexus 4. Same logic applies here

Jheez, don't think I'll ever bother asking a question again no need for the rudeness!
And for the individual who took offence to me to not liking CM its personal preference I've never liked CM same way I've never like the AOKP either. It sure is a widespread popular ROM and I'm not insulting the developers in fact I respect anyone who can come up with a good stable ROM for android phones.
ROM Updated: July 20, 2016 - Update notes
This post Updated: April 24rd, 2016
If you have been here before, or if you know what to do, go right ahead and skip to the last pages for the most recent update notes. Or, if you need a bit of a starting point or got stuck along the way, it might be useful to read the remainder of this post first. Understandably the installation of this ROM didn't immediately go smooth for everyone, so if you run into troubles don't skip to the end but rather spend some time to read through the entire thread. And you can always use the search function. Doing this will probably be quicker than waiting for someone to solve your problem, especially if it's not a new problem. Plowing through the thread is probably the faster alternative.
So that all being said - Hiya! Welcome to the one and only place where you can find info and support for my unofficial port of Cyanogenmod 12.1, for the HTC One M8s. This phone is very different from the M8 and no one really knows why the folks at HTC decided to give it this name; the looks may be similar to both phones, but the M8s comes with an octa-core snapdragon 615, a 13MP camera, and a stronger battery than the M8. Under the hood you can find an msm8939, and unfortunately not as much memory as one would hope. Still, the phone works pretty good, and at least this ROM (in my opinion) is faster and snappier than HTC's original Sense ROM.
Although this ROM is not supported by the Cyanogenmod project in any official capacity, I did get some great help from some of the CM developers and from other people. Special props to @root-expert, @Rashed97, @invisiblek, @intervigil and @uberlaggydarwin for helping, and providing me with some moral support when despair was getting the best of me.
So that all said and done, let's get to it!
Port Information
All the stuff you would hope would work, works: the mobile radio, camera, wifi, GPS, NFC, audio, notification LED, sensors, Bluetooth, and the power consumption is pretty low, which is good.
There are a few things missing; the #1 requested feature is "wake phone on double tap", but I have no idea how to add support for it. I'll need someone to let me know how, and while I'm not actively searching for this myself, if someone knows, drop me a line.
Apart from this, the Dotview case thing isn't supported. And the same applies here: if someone knows how to add support, drop me a line.
My plan for many months was to get this ROM ready to be included officially by Cyanogenmod. This is not on my todo list anymore, but if someone else still wants to do the legwork, you're free to go ahead. Please keep me posted in that case.
Finally, I haven't gotten around to getting SELinux done, and I doubt I ever will. There is just not enough demand, no one requested this feature, and it's a pain in the ass to get to work.
From january of 2016 I took some time off and from april 2016 I will bring out updates at a slower pace. It's not that I stopped having an interest for this ROM, but the developers of CM are focusing less and less on version 12.1, they're putting most of their efforts in CM13 these days. Apart from this I don't think that the demand for anything missing or new is that important to merit the amount of research it demands from me. Adding to this, is that HTC provides no dev support, and the information lying around on the Internet for this phone is not exactly stellar either. So: starting from April 2016, and when time allows, I will continue to provide small updates, once a month at the very least.
So... what about CM13?
I don't have a clear answer for this. As of april 2016 we have still not heard anything officially from HTC other than "HTC will support the update to Android Marshmallow for the HTC One M8s." They have said this for a long time, and until they have released the relevant components like the kernel and their own ROM, I don't think it's possible to get CM13 to work - too much proprietary stuff is required. So until HTC delivers, I can't answer this.
CM12.1
If you are looking for the repository and/or a log of changes take a look at Github. There you can find the M8s-dev organisation and the device tree I use to build the updates.
The juicy stuff
Please make a donation if you value all the work and dedication I've put into this port. It took more than 6 full time months for me to produce, so believe me when I say it was no easy thing to create. I'm sharing it for free and hosting it myself. So a donation really does make all the difference.
And here you go:
Download CM12.1.

Not much response yet. I'm going to try and build CM11 and CM12, even if it's just for myself. Who knows, this might become a popular phone one day.
But it seems that this is not the case right now. So I'll play with this at an easy pace, But if anyone wants to chime in later, feel free to ping me. Or take over, if you already have experience building CM11/CM12.

Ok.. "no plan" might just mean "maybe someday", and maybe it will help if we do a bit of work first.
We could also use a separate forum on xda for the m8s, because it is a different phone, and a quick search for "htc m8s" on Twitter tells me that the phone is being used by more and more people. It will probably become a popular phone, and why not, the octacore processor is pretty nice, so is the 13MP camera...
So we can just continue, although I will admit, due to the hot weather where I live I haven't done anything so far yet.
Experts who have ported CM before, make yourselves known if you would like to help... :good:

Agreed. I had not built CM12.1 before, only CM11. I don't think it's easy to support CM11 for the M8S, I tried to do it, but got stuck when trying to compile it... after I merged config files etc I found out that it's not easy to support this hardware (arm64-v8a).
It'll be optimal if someone more advanced will take over from me at some point, and for this week I'm a bit low on free time, but I have finally synchronised my repository and built CM12.1 succesfully for my supported HTC One S (ville). So now I can see about porting the M8S, for that I will take a look at the sources for the M8 and M9 and it will probably take a lot of trial and error. So please bear with me...
