BTW sorry i forgot to mention.. It's for the galaxy note 3..?
here's the link to the original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486346

I downloaded the tar and checked it's contents.
It's for the Exynos Note 3. Both files are only for that variant. (N900)
No one should try to cross-flash them in another device, it will most likely brick your phone.

I thought the exynos version doesn't have the fuse to trip Knox when rooting
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

It´s sounds great. I think it's only a matter of time until this is available for the S5. Suppose Knox is an e Fuse, Samsung will not have the time to dismantle all devices to see if the fuse is really defective, or the Knox counter was emulated.
I own myself an I9505 without Knox counter, but have never had a reason to have to return my phone. Now, I also own a G900F with Knox 0x1 (after flash) and I think if this phone was built just as good as my i9505, then the counter can be no matter to me. Consider, I have my S4 certainly flashed to 100 times.
My phones are sacred to me.
Sorry for my "english".

That would be great. I will buy the S5 too. I need root, but don't want to lose my warranty.
So that would be great if there is also such a tool for the S5

So that's my question, is there really a physical fuse in there that blows when you trip the knox counter? I'm confused ?...
Thanks in advance!

No one can really say for sure, but from what I gather for Qualcomm it's an efuse (HW), for Exynos it's not entirely clear.
The reset that was leaked is for Exynos variant - but it's a bootloader only for the N900 (Note 3 Exynos) - it cannot be used in other devices, no matter if they are Exynos-based as well.

Wow, i was so close to rooting just now.. But after you said that... I dont think i can root yet... Idk.. J wanna rokt so bad, but im really scared to blow my efuse.. And nkt be able to recover even when they release a fix/reset... But from what i read they said that even if it's blown, the point of the reset is to make the software read 0x0 making the Samsung ppl think it's in its original state...untouched..(but really the efjse is blown) are you rooted and do you care for Warrenty?
Thanks in advance

Yes!
Anytime I have had to have my phone replaced due to a damaged charging port, broken screen ETC my carrier always ships me a new one first and then I send the broken one back. I've never ever had any issues with rooted phones any my insurance (unless you are talking about the samsung manufacturer warranty specifically?)

My carrier is T-Mobile too and I've had to get mine replaced a handful of times and I've never had any issues. Like I said, cracked screens, bad charger ports, and one time a bad radio - they "tested" the phone in the store and determined it was defective and ordered me a new one for next day delivery. None of these times have I had an issue so I doubt it matters..and really I cant imagine why it would matter for hardware issues?
Maybe Samsung is more strict with it but I would assume the phones get reflashed and refurbished to like new anyways so I doubt it matters..I think you made the right choice

The cracked screens I had to pay a deductible for since that would be hard to argue it was a defect lol but the charger port and bad radios was replaced for free without any hassle at all.

Wowzers... so bad charger ports and radios were thru free warrenty? And only the cracked screen was thru insurance (with deductable) correct?☺

That is correct! I am slightly surprised the charging port issue got replaced for free as that is very easy to break as a end-user (I honestly don't know if I damaged the port or if it was just bad) but I don't see how the radio could be anything that someone could cause damage to themselves?

i am going to assume that i dropped it sometime in the morning and when i checked at night it was like this( dont ask me how it happened, i had no idea until like 10 minutes ago)
1) i assume normal warranty from ASUS will not cover this, correct?
2) i assume i will have to send it in to ASUS for repairs, right?
3) can anybody get me a legit email or number i can contact ASUS? (USA)
4) damn, life sucks.
it's funny because technically my screen is still 100% perfect, no physical scratch at all. i keep telling myself i might be able to fix it myself somehow if i open up the case, but until a professional comes in and tells me otherwise....
i sent out a couple emails to whom it might concern, otherwise my other options are -> try to get a hold of asus so i can start the repair process or......... buy a new one, maybe an 8GB?
on a side note, what is currently the cheapest place i can buy a nexus 7 these days? [USA]

i was reading upon other people who is in the similiar spot as i am, and they said all GOOGLE did was push them to aSUS and aSUS just told them to start up a RMA and it will be filed as an "out of warranty/customer-induced damage".

it sucks because Asus won't quote you an repair price until they actually have their hands on it. which means I have to waste shipping fees and my own time when I might have an option to get a brand new 8gb sonewhere. I read that Asus charges anywhere from 100-180.... yikes
Probably won't help at this point, but you can get 3rd party warranties that include accidental damage coverage. I got one from Squaretrade for $35 for 2 years. Hoping to never use it, but just cracked my phone screen last week and considering sending it in (phones have a $50 deductable so I'm not sure it's worth it... until it gets dropped in the toilet...).

yeah I seen a lot of posts about square trade from other forums I been reading. normally I'm ultra care about my tech stuff. (my first time experiencing a infamous "cracked screen") so third party warranties never really occurred to me.
ZOMG! It physically hurt me to look at that picture. Oh damn! Sorry man...
Call up Google, explain what happened and pray... But I'm pretty sure they are going to send you to Asus to pay $150 to replace the screen...

So...you're going to mod the phone and defeat the waterproofing and then if because of your carelessness it gets wet you will have AT&T replace it even though it was your fault. And people wonder why phone companies lock bootloaders and stuff.

No, I have never have had water damage on a phone and don't plan to(see my sig to see how many devices I have had and not a single problem). I highly doubt it will happen so I would rather have a feature like wireless charging over something I will never use like waterproof. If it does get wet I will think about what I should do, I do have insurance so I can always use that. If AT&T offers to replace it I will let them but I do not plan on lying, if it comes up I will let them know how the water got in.

Was just going by what you said earlier, " I like wireless charging over taking it in the water with me. If I accidentally drop it in water AT&T will replace it one time. Win win for me." Which sounds a lot different than what you are now saying. No way AT$T will replace a modded phone, so you'd either have to lie or hope they don't discover it.

First off it isn't modded, there is an insert in it... I will be honest with AT&T but will explain I have water damage. I guess what I meant was I will have a better chance of talking them into replacing than if I had another smartphone. Either way I don't think I have to worry about it, sorry to piss you off

The point is that if, in your own scenario, the phone gets water damaged, it will have been your own fault. You defeated the water-resistance. Getting AT$T to replace it is unfair the same as if you had damaged the phone by flashing a custom ROM on it. Too many people do these things and then somehow (whether by deceit or not) get AT$T to replace their phone leaving the rest of us to have to pick up the tab for it in higher prices or locked bootloaders. If you are using XDA then you should know that what you are doing to your phone is probably not covered by the manufacturer defect part of your warranty. Accept that responsibility if something goes wrong and don't try to pass it onto the carrier. I have had two phones replaced under warranty since 2010. Both were rooted and one was running a custom ROM. Both suffered from random shutdowns, which were later acknowledged to be a defect. Had they failed due to something I caused I would have just sucked it up and bought another phone. Not because I'm better than anyone else, but because I take responsibility for my actions. I hope you do too.:good:

I agree but you are missing my point... I WILL tell them exactly what happened if they say tough then I will use my insurance to replace, if they replace them I will be happy. I have always been an honest person when it comes to this stuff and I do not plan on lying now. Usually the AT&T reps will work with you... So far I have had AWESOME service by them.
I doubt it will even happen though so I am not worried
btw AT&T is suppose to reimage phones before sending them out... it is their normal process. And if you have modded your phone and returned it you should restore to factory defaults either way. Not saying that it is ok but just say it is lazy not to.

It's not a waterproof phone, it's a water-resistant phone, and there is a huge HUGE difference.
Also, with respect to these wireless chargers and having to remove the stock battery cover to do it, are you planning to charge your Active wirelessly under water anytime soon?
If not then there's no issue with this methodology whatsoever.

Water-resistant because it can't stay in that environment permanently, just for short periods of time (with fully drying off between "dunkings" as well).
Water can and will get into most anything given enough time, so this is just highly resistant to water "infiltration" one could say, but that's only if the battery cover is properly attached/latched in place.
of course
of course you can go ebay ,or some online store. such aulola.com

Are you running stock? Aosp? Flash a kernel? The dead spot can't be fixed, could always try formatting data (which means you'd have to set everything back up)? Or use a "return to stock" method and start fresh....

Dead spots usually means your digitizer is shot...
Agree with mjones. If you have a dead spot, return to stock, warranty time...

Check mine out. 2nd g2 with the same issue. Lost knock on, random phantom inputs, dead zone and complete tantrums like the device it's possessed.
The dead zone is in the exact same spot as my last one and I've found a commonality, the upper edge of the dead zone is in line with the bottom edge of the sim card tray.
Gonna give this device one more chance, CLN shipped today.

Mine started doing this last night. Off to the Verizon store in an hour or so... Phone was great so far. A little concerned to hear and read that many people are having this issue.
If you have a dead spot then yeah you need to take it in. I didn't and used the hidden menu fix and it worked perfectly!!

Got my replacement the next morning. Works great. The knock on seems to work even better now. Wonder if they put in the knock on update. It is super responsive. Refurbished or not, the phone is in perfect condition. It looked brand new. Back in full working order.
If you are having this issue take it into a corporate store and get them to replace it. All of these G2 should still be under the 1 year mark until October I believe. Mine was 5 months old.

Instead of sending in for replacement there is a fix for the knock on not working here in xda. I confirmed it worked because it worked for me a few days ago. I updated my firmware and all is well now.

My issue was more than knock on. I had ghost touches and a large dead zone on the screen where touch would not work.

yeah i figured it out. mine just says it's original.
if it had said anything but original it would have gone back. i ain't paying for a used device. i'm paying a small fortune for a brand new phone and that had better be what i have
and after checking it is so. almost had an excuse to exchange it and get one that didn't force the new update on me

Both of mine are not listed as refurbs. However on one of my boxes (the silver one )I do have new labels over the old labels. It was either done to add the black square and v2 or they removed the batteries of existing unsold units and replaced them. My black one only has the new label. I would bet samsung popped the back off of devices not yet shipped and threw new batteries in them. I wonder if they also changed something serial number wise that is maybe giving the app false positives.

Mine says original.. how accurate is this app? That would be messed up if Samsung is shipping refurb.
At the same time, if they popped up the phones and exchanged the batteries BEFORE they ever went out, would that really be considered used or refurb?
Mine shows original and manufactured on 09/09/2016. Also shows made in China.

Switching a battery shouldn't have anything to do with the date of manufacture and since no one else is reporting theirs saying it's refurbished I'm taking it back and swapping it out.
Just checked my says original.

Mine is an original. I applied the new update, so rooting is out. Cool thing is, they accidentally rung the exchange up as a purchase, so the phone cost me $0.00!

What does you mean that rung the exchange as a purchase? I think that's what they are suppose to do. Do a return for the old phone that do a purchase for the replacement.

eBay for a user called ‘ngp_store_usa’. They sell a lot of phones and have great feedback. Not sure why this happened honestly. I looked at 20-30 sellers and sent lots of questions before purchasing too

Someone bought it, tried rooting, somehow screwed up and got binary error, returned it, and seller either didn't check or mixed up their stock? That's my guess but who knows

Hmm hard to say... If it's just in jail then flashing stock could work, but I think it's the N950N model and those apparently don't have OEM issue like some other Exynos models do. If so, then something else was messed up along the way. I see something about efs failure in screenshot 1, so maybe they lost efs too and just sent it back like that.
I'm only speculating of course, but no matter what I would definitely return to seller in this case. OP might still be able to be salvage it (or maybe not), but he shouldn't have to mess with any of that since it's definitely not in the state it was advertised when purchased.
if you want to root and use custom roms,
flash twrp
go to recovery, format internal storage, wipe everything
flash dm verify zip
flash custom rom.
if you want stock,
go to recovery wipe data, wipe cache
then either with odin or smart switch flash stock korean FW.
no need to return it if physically the device is undamaged.
what you can do if any of the above works out for you is, ask seller for partial refund and keep the phone.
Almost all devices sold as new at very atractive prices are returned or refurbished units, that is why the price is lower compared to real new and unused ones, you can see posts here about people complaining about some fault, and having 2,3,4 or more exchanged devices, what do you think sellers do with such devices?
N950N dont have "jail" time. what seems to have happen is some one tried to root with chainfire auto root and forgot to format and flash the no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip

Make sure you don't do it as a regular return make sure you open a case for item not as described upload those photos and then ebay policy prevents the seller from charging a fee or making you pay return shipping. With a case open if the seller argues ebay can go back and see that and it will help you out

A lot of sellers like that sell refurbished phones as new becuase the average person won't notice
I appreciate everyone’s input, I was pretty certain someone had previously messed with rooting the device and failed miserably. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one who thought so. Also helped with getting the seller to agree to refund without too much hassle so thanks again to you all.
