Hello, I bought a Lumia 820 a few months ago but it has just stopped charging. Last night I noticed the phone charging very slowly (1%-2% an hour) and thought nothing of it because I had it tethering at the same time. However after turning it off and going to sleep, leaving the phone to charge overnight, I woke to find the phone had only charged a little and was no longer charging. I'm pretty sure this would be covered by the warranty, but I installed the dev preview . I have very little if any money available to fix it so I have a few questions.
First let me start by saying I am in the UK for anything that may be country specific. Also the phone was new from Amazon UK
1. Is there any chance Nokia will fix it for me under warranty? If not, roughly how much will it cost?
2. Would a wireless charger still be able to charge it? I am a very technical person but I do not know if the two charging circuits are separate (until they meet at the battery) or are joined completely.
3. Is there any chance of fixing it myself? Or using a repair service? If it was a cheaper phone I would just use a repair service from a local place but this is the most expensive phone I've ever owned and I'd rather not risk it being damaged more or me being ripped off.
Thank you for your time, sorry if this is the wrong place but there was a similar topic when I made this but the problem wasn't the same.
I'm pretty desperate so any help is welcomed, thanks.
Ben.

Last july, I took my Milestone on a hike and fell on it, breaking the glass. I sent it for repairs and got it back after a nice 120$ bill.
When it came back, the charging plug was loose, but still worked well. Considering this was my only phone (I'm in an appartement without landline), only MP3, acted as my agenda, adress book and GPS, and that I knew that sending it back in would take another 4-6 weeks, I decided to keep it anyways. It was still charging, right?
Well it progressively got looser, and now it won't charge unless it's in the dock, at a certain angle forward, and the 1-year guarantee ended 3 weeks ago... So it's useless as a GPS, and I have to mess with it for a minute everytime I plug it in to make sure it's at the right angle...
Besides sending it back to Motorola, waiting 6 weeks and paying 120$ (again), does anyone else have found a solution to this issue? Is this a part that can be bought myself and replaced by someone skilled?
Thanks!
PS: Here in Quebec, the Consumer Protection Law states that a product should be covered for a reasonable time period... I'm thinking of putting pressure on them by saying that a reasonable time period would be the length of the contract with the carrier, and so that they should repair/replace it under guarantee. Opinions on that?
Buy a battery charger off eBay, they are cheap

I'm talking about the charging port. The microUSB on the phone itself.
He knows, thats still what I would do. You also need a microUSB reader or use wifi to transfer stuff.
If its loose, then it may be just a torn wire, not my forte in small electronics.
If its 120, buy another one. You can get one off ebay cheap, or get one for parts.
Well, the phone just completely died, and won't power on at all-no matter what's the battery I used. I guess that won't be necessary now, lol.
Well, you should take it to repair, maybe you battery has died and some one need to weak-up it.
IMHO is better then buying another one.
I would do what the second poster was sayin and by a battery charger put it to good use again.
good day fellow xda members, i just need advice regarding my note..
Situation:
1. The phone screen flickers and shuts down when using WIFI and listening to MUSIC at the same time.
2. If I use the phone for MUSIC ONLY, the phone doesn't turn off.
3, If I connect the phone to a wall charger, it doesn't turn off..
4.If I turn the phone on, the battery percentage is almost the same before it turned off.
additional info: the phone is 1 year old. and i reflashed it to FULL STOCK
My question now, is this a simple battery problem where i only need to replace the battery? Or the phone is short circuit? AFAIK. short circuit happens when the phone is submerged to water.
I'm asking this question because one store here sells genuine battery BUT they don't offer warranty... sick right??
any comment or suggestion??
UPDATE:: I recently got a new battery, its a genuine 2500 mah battery from Samsung and it costs around 1690 in Philippine peso or around $40 in USD....
and it magically cured all problems..
if you found this thread after google searching, I'm glad to help...
Hi, why did you mentioned water problem, did your phone came in contact with water. If so or if you think your phone got any humidity, try to remove it. There are some posts how to do it. 2. Try with another battery (your friends), see the problems remain or solved. 3. Try a good GB rom, stock or custom (before you buy a new battery).

+1 for trying a new battery. Ask sorts of problems charging, dying, etc, was exactly one year old and only very slight bulge (have you checked yours?) And replacing with Anker 2700 mah from Amazon cured all.

How strange is this ... so Basically the stock battery that Samsung sells does not last more than a year ???
a lot of users who purchased it more than a year ago are having the same flickering issue ... that is sad.. Bad SAMSUNG

My phone started couple days ago. A year and two months old. Guess it's time to go buy a battery. Will update.
Edit: bought a new battery. Problem gone. Also enjoying renewed battery life.
Even mine was acting same.. exactly from a week now.. for one year old phone.. ordered a new battery in Samsung service center.
I have an HTC One M7 that I have been happy with for nearly 2 years. Yesterday I plugged it in to the charger in the car that I have used hundreds of times and there was a little wisp of smoke and now the USB port doesn't seem to work. I can't charge it and it isn't recognised by the computer. Everything about the phone works ok, but I can't get any power into it!
I have it rooted and have ViperOne running and the problem is I don't think there is enough battery to get it back to stock to send back for warranty!
Can anyone suggest any method of charging? Long shot I know...

I had the same problem with the smoke, and I left it to sit for about a year. Usually, they don't turn on the phone to check it's "stockness" and even if they did, if you keep turning on your phone enough until it is absolutely dead, they can't recover it without replacing the charge port. I decided to replace the charge port, and let me tell you, there IS a glue around the sides that you have to heat up to take off. I would recommend buying a charge port w/ flex cable and taking it to an electronic repair shop and hopefully the guy understand what to do. I did it myself but pretty much destroyed the phone, so if you can make sure it is completely dead and send it in they cannot check if it is rooted or not.

Cheers, I've taken your advice, drained the battery completely and sent it off for warranty. I did read something that said warranty shouldn't be affected unless the custom software is the cause of the fault so will cross my fingers...
The warranty is voided even if it is not the cause.
Guys I've a very big problem with my nexus 6, please see and respond with whatever solution you could think of, it'd really be very helpful to me.
Also sorry to write so long message, I've just given my entire issue in detail for some help.
I urgently need help please from someone experienced with this problem(if possible)
I'm having this really weird problem and I've no idea if there's any solution available online.
From past few months, whatever charger I'm putting in it, it's just not working ever again. It takes time, but after like 1-2 weeks the cable just doesn't work.
*I've recently observed that the cable goes something like, first it's charging*around 700mA(on a 1A charger), then after some days it was averaging 500mA(and the charging time increased too), now it's between 100-250mA(and charging time of atleast 6 hours), and finally after few days it'll stop charging.
I can assure that all cables and adapters I used were original(the first one to stop working like this was the original cable which came with this phone), there is no problem in them as I've regularly changed these and whenever I test in some other phone, the cable works until the time Nexus 6 permanently stops the cable.
It has happened to over 5 charging cables now, all this time I thought that it happened because of one charger, but now I think it's because of the phone. Please tell me what to do asap as I don't want to waste more wires on this. I'm losing a lot of money now. I'm unable to sleep at nights over this issue.
I told this issue to service centre, the person over there was surprised that a wire can be damaged too like this, and said I'll be charged ₹200 for checking(which moto customer care says there isn't any charge), I thought of getting it repaired somewhere else, but other people are suggesting me to change cable. I can keep changing but it'll cost me more and I'll have to keep doing this for next 2-3 years. I just need a permanent solution.
I live in Mumbai, India and bought the phone from Flipkart, and also it's out of warranty.
Also I can't find solution to this anywhere in Google, I just need help in determining the exact issue as it is unheard of so I can decide how to proceed to repair(if it's costly then I might not) or give me suggestions.

Probably you battery is dying.
A common problem for all smartphones after 1/2 years of use,
The Nexus 6 can be charged wirelessly; it's slow but good for the battery.
Buy a cheap QI-pad and charge the battery wireless.
Hi there!
I've recently changed the battery on my P20 Pro. Unfortunately the only battery I could find was a non-original one.
It seemed to work ok at the beginning but then I realized that when the phone reaches the 50% mark, the battery drains to 4% in a few minutes. So it makes me wonder if the battery is faulty or if it even has the 4000mha needed.
Is it possible to solve this issue trough software or do I need to get a better battery?
If the issue is the battery it self, which one do you recommend to buy?
Thanks in advance.
No one?
I have the same problem , how did you get on ? A local phone shop will happily change the battery but I need to try and source one of sensible quality .....
But why to buy a replacement when you can change at Huawei service for good price. In my country it costs 99PLN which stands for like 20 bucks? And you get original battery + replacement service included on-site. You give a phone away for 2-3 hours and get with new battery.
hi, i bougth second hand p20 pro, person whom i bougth said that he had replaced battery with new one 2 days ago. Probably he even didn't charged it because he powered down the phone and send it to me, after it delivered to me i can not power on the phone. i plugged it to charger but it blinking red light. i charged it about 24 hours but nothing changed. the battery never got charged. it is always cold during the charge. He told me to before he were sent it to me phone was ok. so he refused to get it back. What can i do to turning it to life back before giving it to a service. should i buy a new battery and replace it ?
