So I'm a ninth grader and wanna to try out for drum major my junior year do any of you know some food training techniques?

For quick starters get a nice VicFirth practice pad (remo and others make them), 3 to 4 pairs of varying stick sizes and a rudiments dvd.

Uh...Unless it's a language barrier or an incorrect term, a "drum major" is the leader of a marching band (or drum & bugle corps), usually found with a spinning mace/baton or found conducting the ensemble.

The drum major does not need to be able to play drums; rather, they do need to be able to spin a mace and conduct a group (though being a drummer does help in keeping time when conducting).

My advice to you is to look at YouTube videos by ArtyMac -- he has many instructional videos for beginner and advanced drum majors.
*I'm in a high school marching band, I've been friends with the three drum majors who have led the band since I joined, and I know some of the ways our current drum major learned how to become a drum major.*

It has come to my attention that we meatbags are losing more and more grounds to the silicone overlords. Don't just go 20 rounds. The more you go, the more likely you will succumb to a certain pattern, so the computer's advantage is very obvious the longer you play.
Of course, if we hook it up to a learning matrix database, we'd be busted from the get go.
Also remember that this is done by the NEW YORK TIMES. Now imagine IBM getting down on this.

Hey my team (Warriors) were the first to sign him, but because they already have Monta Ellis and Steph Curry, he would have been relegated to a backup role. Plus they wanted to clear up cap space in the beginning of the season to try and sign DeAndre Jordan so they had to waive him. It's great that he has found a team and a system that works well for him, but we'll just have to wait and see when Stoudamire and Anthony come back and they want the ball ALL THE TIME, how will he be able to handle that? Hopefully they let Lin flourish because they're winning and beating teams like the Lakers or else they'll start losing games again.

Lol. The warriors are my team. I had high expectations for this year but currys damn ankle. We needed deandre. Its funny because his brothers go to my school and he wanted to be in Oakland but he was restricted.

I have to say I'm impressed, but I don't think he'll do this well for too long. Players just have to get over the initial shock of the situation haha.

It's great to see him put up such extraordinary numbers. Not trying to be a skeptic. Just being realistic here. There's no way he keeps this up. His stats are currently inflated by several factors:
No Carmelo Anthony
No Amare Stoudamire
No viable alternative at PG for the Knicks.
Once Stoudamire and Anthony returns to the lineup, Lin will have to give up a majority of his shot attempts. He still might hit for 10 pts (give or take). I'd expect his assists totals to hover at around 8 per game.
It would be really interesting to see what happens when Baron Davis is finally ready to hit the court.

He's fantastic *-* He's carrying out NYK without Melo and Amar'e!

Seriously though. I don't really care about basketball, but the only reason everyone goes crazy about Lin is because he is an Asian playing basketball. Same hype that was with Yao Ming. After a while nobody talks about you anymore. Which is why I like hockey. If you are white or black, if you are a good player we respect you, not because you just started playing ad scored a few points.

Please explain these terms to someone who isn't familiar with basketball terminology. Also that rant was due to me living in NYC, and all of a sudden everybody liking basketball.

I have to admit seeing him play, he is pretty pro. Makes some of the other players look bad.

I love it how the mainland and Taiwan are fighting over his heritage...most probably he'll say he's first and foremost American...and proudly

Should there be a maximum age for driving?

Maybe require them to take an annual driver-certification test of some kind after a certain age?

Yes, definitely. Here (in norway) people that are 70+ years old must have a "medical certificate" from their doctor, and they have to see their doctor once a year. If their doctor says that they're not fit to drive then that'll be it. Doesn't eliminate the dangers, but it's a start.

Look up driving and accident statistics anywhere in the state of Florida and you'll have a definitive answer. There is something truly frightening about seeing a 90 year old person behind the wheel of a Suburban or Excursion. Especially when they are so hunched over from arthritis that their only line of sight is looking under the steering wheel and over the dash. We called them Q-Tip drivers, since the only thing you could see was a puff of white hair. If you've seen Ferris Bueller you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

I think drivers should have to retake the entire driving test every time or two they renew their license. That way it doesn't discriminate any group of people, and will eliminate everyone who doesn't know how to drive, not just the older people.

How about a mandatory retake of drivers ed courses for people who get in more than two accidents in five years?

It sounds good in principle, but I have literally seen DMV employees guiding elderly people through the vision test. I think people here regard driving as a right, not as a privilege and responsibility.

Cost a lot of money, and the lines will be astronomical. To take the drivers road test here in Nevada, I had to schedule it 7 weeks in advance.

+1. Then, there are the cases of old people driving their cars through buildings (they mistake the accelerator for the brake, in a parking lot, when they start their car). I guess when people get old, everything looks the same.

Yes I live in Florida as well. I lost my driver side mirror because some old ass guy decided he didn't like the lane he was in. To bad I was right next to him and he just starts moving over. Luckily I quick enough to act and he only took out my mirror. I see waaay to many old fools that should not be driving.

This is what I thought of when I saw this thread.
I dont think there should be no questions asked cut off age, not everybody ages equally. But for sure tests should be administered after a certain age, if you cant pass the test you shouldn't drive..

I think having to get a doctor's release to drive after a certain age makes the most sense. It's not about age, really, but the mental and physical competency that degrades with age.

Maybe not a max age but they def need to get better at screening with age. I mean, WTF, they are so mean there to everyone at the DMV so why are they being " nice" and letting our old folks get renewed when they shouldn't lol

Every summer, Southern California sees a temporary influx of old retirees from Arizona. They drive at very slow speeds on the fast lane of our freeways. We just love them for that :^)

Seen this discussion on a lot of car forums.
I'm a bit neutral as far as opinion.
Some drivers are inherently incapable all thru their driving years then some are careful responsible till the end.
Now that I'm closing in on 60 I'm way more intolerant of others.
In the past I was a very angry aggressive driver...I never got anywhere faster than anybody else.
Haven't really slowed down, I just do my best to be safe and sane with constant self checks when driving.

The first is a CISPA like executive order that the White House is considering. In order to pass these bills that Congress has rejected, the Obama administration has taken to the use of Executive Orders so that they may bypass Congress entirely. This is incredibly concerning as the process is very complex for Congress to overturn laws passed this way. The Supreme Court may also declare it unconstitutional, but such incidents are very rare. With enough opposition, we can stop this before it even gets off the ground.
The second, and more immediate threat, is another international treaty. Like ACTA, this treaty has been negotiated in secret. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is so secret that not even the Congressional Committee in charge of such treaties can even see the bill. It is however, viewable by six hundred corporate representatives. All we know is what has been leaked thus far, and it reaches well beyond the scope of simply censoring the internet. It's yet another bill to grant more power to multinational corporations. If this treaty is ratified, the only way it can be altered is through the agreement of every country involved.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation has tried to rally the troops: "Don't Let TPP Become the Next ACTA: Contact Your Lawmakers and Demand Transparency!"
...the TPP is being negotiated in secret, and on a fast timetable. We don't know what's in the TPP IP chapter, and that's what worries us. Entertainment industry executives who are members of the Industry Trade Advisory Committee will likely get to see the agreement drafts -- again -- but the rest of us will be kept in the dark unless we speak up now.
And they are not alone in attempting to warn everyone. The Huffington Post, Guardian, ACLU, Examiner, Alternet, Current, Techdirt, DailyKos, Truthout, and many more have all reported on this atrocity. Even members of Congress have introduced legislation due the extreme secrecy of this treaty.

Contact your members of Congress, educate your friends and family, create art, videos, and stage protests. Do everything you can to help raise awareness as they plan to push this through before the next election. We have very little time to stop this. I've always wished the new Anon messages would just simultaneously appear on ALL TVs/monitors, interrupting everything going on and causing people to just stop what they are doing and watch. Like what happens in movies, usually with the antagonist.

Ya, me too!! That would be awesome!! But on the other hand, i think those people, who don't know who Anons are and what they are fighting against and for, will just think of them as some hacker who hacked into the TV stations and well some others will be scared and few others will just LOL.. And If that really happens, we will be very pleased!!:fingers-crossed:
