My phone is turned on
I press volume down botton and enter round botton.
there after i press reset
I keep pressing the other 2 bottons
Still nothing happens, the phone restarts, but no hard reset!!!
I have 1.37 rom with unasigned hard spl. But I do not have any usb cable here at my work.
Help help help
Are you pressing and releasing the reset button? You need to hold it down until the device boots.
I had the same problem as well...couldnt get it to hard reset so i went through the settings list and did it through there.
Click on start, go to settings, then click on clear storage..choose clear storage and format internal storage...enter 1234 and then click on ok...when it asks to confirm press yes and once done it will then clear everything and reset the phone back to the way it was when you first got it.

Still isn't doing that...
Should I press volume down botton and enter botton when the phone is in windows?
Keep all three pressed down dont release the reset button ... It will go through , well did for me as I noticed it did the same thing to me. I only released once the screen had changed to the options for format
Or why not do the hard reset as i described earlier?? lol..much easier and dont have to worry about pressing 3 buttons at the same time

Ok well you do realise even with the way ive said to do it, you dont have to wipe your internal storage??..you have the options of clear storage only...format internal storage or clear storage and format internal storage.
If your going to do a hard reset with the way your trying to do it...you will lose all your info on your internal storage...so it doesnt make any difference does it??. Your still going to lose all your sensitive info doing it the way your trying to do it ie hold volume button down, press center button then press reset button and release the reset button whilst holding down the other 2 buttons.
Not sure whether this helps, but I also had the back of the device removed when I did a hard reset via the button method.
Sounds like Spawn's solution might suit you better though.
excuse me if im wrong as i dont own a diamond (waiting for the pro to decide) but doesnt the stylus have to be removed or something like that to hard reset. maybe thats the issue? I think i read that somewhere.
Again, not sure but try with the stylus in or out or something :S

That's certainly the case on the Diamond as the reset button is beneath the stylus.
I have the same problem. I'm using TruxT rom. Cannot perform a hard reset. I hold the Volume Down, Center, Press Reset with the stylus in my hard and hold it until the device reset but... no "hard reset screen". It's annoying.
I've installed the HTC Scrolling cab from (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343313) and since that my touchscreen don't work at all. There's only the D-Pad and all the hardware buttons that work.
I've read that simply uninstall this app will fix the problem but theres another problem. When I connect my phone to my computer, I'm force to connect it as an "external drive" because it's the way it was connect last time I did it. I cannot change the setting to "Active sync" when "Connect to pc" window appears using the hardware buttons so I'm stuck with a huge headache now. lol
Is there a way to force ActiveSync to detect my phone when I plug it ? My goal is to uninstall this app using ActiveSync instead of performing a hard reset. Anyway, it seems I can't do it.
Hi guys,
Great forum, unfortunately i can't find a solution for my problem. Here is my problem: I installed Diamond TF3D Config on my phone and i tweaked a couple of things, everything went well untill i changed the TouchFlow menus.
It automatically restarts, but the loading process can't pass the HTC logo screen and now it says:
" The Device is unable to boot because either you turned of the device incorrectly...----- Press SEND to reset your device..."
Well, ofcourse I followed the instructions and pressed SEND, but it looks like it doesn't do anything at all. The error screen above keeps displaying, without anything telling me that something is being done about the problem. Is it doing something or is it just stuck? (The light is continously on).
Can you guys help me? By the way I tried the manual hard reset, but that didn't help.
did you hard or just soft reset?
well i did a soft reset, that didn't work out keep getting that screen.
and I tried a hard reset but that wasn't possible, because i couldn't get in the device, so it pretended it was a soft reset..
but do you know if it is doing something or not , cause i get the screen continously with the lights on
PM the developer... sushilange... and then post the solution here for us all to take benefit of.
Not sure of your full situation, but two options that may help; hard reset, or connecting phone to pc and try running an RUU install; of course all data will be lost, device could be as well.
---- Hard Reset Option ----
To perform a hard reset:
1. Press and hold both softkeys on the device (the little dots above ok, and windows key). Keep these keys pressed, and at the same time, use the stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of your device.
NOTE: I had no idea which of the many keys were considered the soft keys. They are the two buttons above the phone control buttons.
2. Release the stylus but keep the softkeys pressed when you see the following message on your device screen:
“Do you want to erase all user data and restore to manufacture default?”
3. Slide open the hardware keyboard, and press R to restore to factory default or press X to exit the hard reset process.
Note:
Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed
--- RUU install ROM --- (this is for the mogul, you'll have to find your own, just reading material)
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/mogul/software-downloads.html
k I will. And this guy has the necessary knowledge?
bjason6 , thanx for your help
but I don;t understand.
hardware keyboard, a diamond doesnt have a keyboard or do you mean something else and where are the two soft buttons i cant seem to find them
This is the proper way to hard reset the Diamond (taken from the wiki):
Switch the device off. Press and hold the "Volume Down Key" and "Action Button" (round button), at the same time, use the stylus to press the red RESET button in the stylus silo. You will be presented with a menu saying 'press R to reset, X to exit'. If you press R, your device will be set back to factory default settings.
Hard Reset will delete all data you have put on the device: Programs, Settings, Mail, SMS, MMS, etc., so be careful and make a backup before doing this.
After a hard reset, you will have a complete clean new install of Windows Mobile on your device.
I thought the phone must be on for the hard reset to work, because I doesnt work on y phone
and oh, the SEND button is just the phone button right? the one beneath the House-button?

Sail away ?
Hi everyone,
I was using my nexus one with low battery, and then it shut down.
I went back to car, attached it to the recharger, and pushed power button.
At this point it turned on and a setup similar to first boot appeared (selection of language, date & time, google account)..
Once the setup was completed, I pressed the home button and associated it with Launcher Pro.
At this point a popup message appeared, saying (translated from italian):
"Sorry! Sudden interruption of the application Launcher Pro (process Android.process.acore). Retry.", with a button named "Retry".
- If I press the "Retry" button, the same popup message appears on and on again.
- If I shut the phone down and restart it, it asks for the SIM pin, the unlock pattern, and then the popup message appears again and again..
- I can't access the menu through the button, and I am stuck in this situation!..
- I tried to uninstall Launcher Pro via appbrain about two hours ago, but with no luck..
Any help would be much appreciated..
Thanks!

Froyo OTA (FRF91?)
Assuming you aren't rooted, I just want to let you know you always have the last resort of resetting the phone back to default, so the phone itself is still fine.
With root, you can ADB and remove LauncherPro.
Hi cigar3tte,
I'm not rooted, so I could "reset the phone back to default".
Do you mean reset it to factory default (aka hard reset)?
Note: If I press the menu button at the bottom of the device, nothing happens and the popup keeps showing up
However, the procedure I found for the hard reset is this:
"With the phone shut off, while holding down the volume button on the side of the N1, press the power button briefly while maintaining the volume button pressed in for around 5-10 seconds.
You should be presented with a menu that allows for: Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock. You can release the volume button at this time.
Select Clear storage with the volume button up and down, then press and release the power button to make the selection.
It will ask you to confirm this decision. Press the yes button using the volume up."
Should i proceed so?
Thanks!

Yes, I meant a factory reset. Before doing so, check for any data you might want to save.
As for the method, what you found should work fine. I've never done a hard reset from the default recovery. I've only done it from the phone itself (which you can't access) and custome recovery.
Hi cigar3tte,
I followed your suggestion and did the shut-off-and-on procedure.
After that, I was asked to complete the initial configuration (time, google account, etc). and I am now on the home screeen!
Thank you so much for your help!
For future reference, you would probably have been able to fix this without wiping... turn the phone on, then when the X appears hold the trackball, it should boot in safe mode and you can remove/clear data as needs be.
AuraxTSense ROM - I know someone having this issue, anything they can try short of full wipe?
I have upgraded my Asus 176CX to Android 5.0. Although I like the new version, the responses inside the applications (and mainly simple games) is not good. The start time of the applications is 2-3 times slower than the older and slower Asus MemoPad 7 HD!
Any ideas how to fix that?
Mine too. Have you tried factory reset without automatic restore?
I did it and now it's much faster, almost as much as before the update. The game's still stuttering quite a bit but not as laggy as before.
The main problem I have is the screen seems to have lower contrast than in 4.4.2 and sometimes the colour just goes washed out and then return to normal. Especially when switching apps. But sometimes it just does that for no obvious reason.
Also the amount of bloatware just went through the roof and I can't disable or delete them like before.
To anyone passing by: Hold on for a bit. As far as I'm concern the only good thing I can find in this update is native support of USB Audio.
What do you mean by "Automatic Restore"?
Also, after the factory reset, how did you re-installed the apps? I don't want to loose my data, I have some apps (not just games), like for example my Lufthansa app with all my data and Boarding Passes etc that I really need.
The bloatware is a lot. I cannot disable most of it. One of the good things: The backup application.
In Backup & reset you'll have 2 choices called
- Back up my data
- Automatic restore - which will restore your apps along with settings after factory reset. But to be sure that it deletes all files that might cause the device to slow down I'll disable it.
And yes, after factory reset with this option disable you will have to reinstall all your apps and all your data will be gone. So make sure you back up everything you need before doing it.
WARNING: If you have important data like boarding pass in your airliner app then I wouldn't suggest you do the factory reset because even if you enable both "backup my data" and "automatic restore" there's still some risk that data in some apps might not come back.
Back to the issue of device slowing down, another way to fix it is format cache partition. This is the safest way to fix the problem without losing all your data, apps or any settings but I really can't find a way to do it.
Edit: Found it!
Here's how you do it:
- Turn off your device.
- Hold down "volume down" then press power button until it turns on.... at this point continue holding the volume down button.
- After you enter fastboot mode, release the volume down button.
- Use volume up or down to navigate the menu, select "RECOVERY" then press power to choose.
- It will show the belly up droid, don't panic.
- Press volume up and power simultaneously, hold them down for about a second then release them. If this doesn't work try holding down a bit longer. You will get in to recovery menu.
- Use volume up or down to navigate the menu, select "wipe cache partition" then press power to choose.
- Wait until it says "Cache wipe complete." on the bottom of the screen.
- Choose "reboot system now".
Try this first and if it doesn't fix your problem I'm afraid you'll have to factory reset your tablet.
Howdy,
I can't reset my device.
Device has been sitting in my drawer for the last 10 months, pulled it out, charged it up, can't unlock it. I always use the same pin code on all my phones, but it's not working. I tried to factory reset, but it won't work.
Turn device off, hold volume up key and power key, wait until it turns on, release power key and it goes through normal boot up. I never get the options to factory reset. I've watched every video and read every post on the factory reset procedure. Battery is at 100%. Every combination of volume and power key combination does one of two things. Either the phone boots all the way to normal, or it goes to the fastboot screen where I can't do anything. I can't get it into the reset screen. I have successfully connected ADB when the fastboot screen is appears, but there are no commands you can send to the device that will reset it.
How the heck do you factory reset this thing?
Strange things happen on occasion when the battery goes to 0.
The only thing I can think of offhand that is easy to do, i.e. besides disconnecting the battery, would be to connect the charger and then reboot it while charging, perhaps a number of times, and see what happens.

I have tried the factory reset options with the charger plugged in. I've probably restarted the phone 30 or more times with every combination of power key/volume key being pressed. Nothing will bring up the factory reset option?
Have you tried just holding the power button pushed in for a long time, like 30-60 seconds?
Sorry, no more ideas other that opening it up and disconnecting the battery, which I personally would prefer not to do.

If you hold the power button in, it just cycles on and off over and over. The power button does not make the phone go into factory reset mode.
Why do you think opening the phone and disconnecting the battery would do anything? This isn't a power problem, its a problem with getting the phone into the factory reset mode, which is supposed to happen when you power on with the volume up key pressed.
Thanks for trying to help.
Disconnecting the battery does a real "Power Off", which you cannot do any other way with non-removable batteries.
For example, alarms will usually still go off even when the phone is "turned off".
I don't know for sure that this will help, just a hunch.
Is there any way to accomplish this from the Fastboot screen?
How about some guidance or suggestions? Am I the only person this has ever happened to?
