Why does FM radio not working on WP 8.1? I can enter it, change stations, but it doesnt recieve nothing.
It's never worked on any ATIV S. The hardware is physically disconnected. By default, the UI is hidden. If you've unhidden it (via a registry change, usually) then it *looks* like it's there, but that doesn't mean it works.

I did the reg tweak for the GPS icon to show in the connections tab under settings, deleted what I needed to, but it still doesnt work, nor can I pair my BT GPS to the right ports.... I've tried the test ROM and the latest ship ROM, no luck. Help?
the GPS applet is simply not on all Wizard roms
It does not show on mine either after using Reg Wizard. Where can I get the applet?

Worked for me.
gps icon
mine wouldnt either, until I did a little more.. I di d2 things, not sure which was the result.
I added 'Enabled=1' to HKLM/ControlPanel/GPS Settings in addition to Group=2
Off the same reboot I changed
HKLM/Software\HTC\HTCCPL\TotalApplets from 8 to 9 (I had oddly 8 things in the connections tab). This reset itself to 8 on reboot, however I do have a gps icon now where before it wouldnt work.
My guess is first try enabled=1 (total guess on my part to even put that in).
I am just happy I got it working but I really would like to know how becaus eI have ac ouple friends with wizards that might also enjoy having mapping software and other toys using gps at the same time
Tmobile USA MDA (wizard) with the dec 12 2005 factory rom.
I know there have been several posts about the GPS, and various tools for them but it seems that some people have problems either getting the GPS to start, or in my case getting it to stop. I've tried Google maps, Windows Live, Pocket Streets, and the Dell Navigator GPS Software (I'm a former Axim owner and had it still around).
the gps works, or atleast its worked once. it seems the various programs all have the same issue, they can start the GPS but not interface with it, and cant stop it when they're done leaving it to chew on the CPU. When the GPS program is no longer running and the GPS is still apparently going (flashing amber light next to speaker) the phone's performance drastically decreases.
I've not messed with the external GPS setting and have the GPSinit (which also starts but doesnt seem to close the connection)
any ideas?
Are you sure you are closing the apps properly after you have finished or are they in the background?
I've been running the stock AT&T Tilt rom, and with the task manager set to 'end programs by tapping "X" '
the task manager, and the wm6 memory program show no applications running (sometimes Activesync stays active) but i can see acticity on the Amber light.
a soft-reset 'fixes' it but i dont know why it stays open. the Dell program is the worst by far, but all of them seem to do it.
well, installing a new GPS software on top of the Tilt's software is what caused the issue.
anyone have a suggestion on how to repair what i think is an over-written file? not much to go on other than it was Dell GPS navigator software designed for WM 2003 and no software will recognize the installed GPS after.
GPS Test worked before, doens't work after. verified its settings didnt change
Uninstalled Dell but didnt reset with a soft-reset. I can do a hard-reset if needed, but i'd prefer to stitch it back together instead.
I would be very surprised if you could fix it without a hard reset. Unless you know the dll's etc that dell changed and the registry changes it made...
Good luck.

There are some GPS apps that are not good at closing GPS. Tomtom does but I notice some others don't. If you open sherpa's app and then use it's exit button hopefully it'll close it:

looking through the windows folder and system folders i couldn't pick out anything that had been changed to a pre-2005 file (age of the software) but that doesn't mean it didnt hit the registry as you pointed out. I'll do a hard reset/selective restore while at work and see if that helps.
Once i get it running though i'm going to try to leech my windows directory and do a registry backup if i can.
How are you able to tell the GPS is still "ON" ?

The amber light continues to flash
Mike
the amber light to the right of the speaker stays flashing, and the com port shows as in use (com4) not allowing other GPS software to connect to it in this instance.

For the record, I have the same problem. In order to identify the problem it might help if I list the GPS-related programs I installed:
- Google Maps (never used yet)
- TomTom 6.03 (used, not problems)
- LocationSMS (never used yet)
- VisualGPSce (used couple of times; worked, but not sure if it caused prolems)
- Holux GPSViewer (used when I already had the problem described)
So it could be LocationSMS or VisualGPCce? What did you install?
Cheers,
Edward
I posted the problem in another thread yet (as a reply). I open a new thread because the problem is again here unfortunately.
The problem first occured after the installation of the TomTom app.
After installing and downloading and installing the included map everything works fine. But then I connect the TyTN II to the PC and the TomTom Home application. The app was searching for updates for the installed TomTom Navigator. It brings up the message that a update is available, it was the "phone database - connect2internet" update. And now that's the strange and very annoying part: After installing the update, the phone doesn't play ANY kind of ringtone on an incoming call and the ringtones are very low.
Neither removing the TomTom app nor doing a soft reset solved the problem. After a masterreset everything was fine again. I installed then all apps (except TomTom) needed again and did a backup with Sprite Backup. After this I installed the TomTom Navigator again with the update... same problem! No ringtones on incoming calls. I did then a restore and all was ok again.
But this evening I called me myself and no ringtone was played. That's so annoying. A phone should really not have such problems. It seems that the problem is not TomTom dependent. I have these apps installed:
-TomTom Navigator
-Sprite Software Sprite Backup
-PocketCM Keyboard
-Pocket eSword
-Microsoft SQLE 2.0
-Mobipocket.com Reader
-PocketCM Contacts 0.15
-Saman SMSDeliveryReceiptFix
-MohairSofa Calendar+ Today Plugin
I hope that you can help me, I really don't know what I should do anymore.
Thank you very much in advance
Best regards

What happened with your settings? Are they still "normal", or can you see that the volume has changed to mute for example?
I've heard some people having problems with HTC Home changing profile settings to auto.

The settings are normal as they should be. It's also strange, that the ringvolume is much lower now than before when trying to play a ringtone in the settings. (The volume in the settings is the same).

You seem to tbe the only tomtom home user who is having this problem. So lets start at the beginning:
1) When you test the device, is it definitely in normal/ringer profile?
2) What have you set incoming calls to do in start, settings, sounds and notifications, notifications tab?
3) If both above are correct, does the phone vibrate if you change them to vibrate options?

1) Yes, there is the normal profile activated
2) There are all the normal settings (manufacturer settings)
3) This one I can't check now becuase I did a masterreset already
The strange thing too, is that the ring volume is suddenly very low. This occurs at the same time with the no ringtone on incoming calls problem.
It seems that the problem is not related with the TomTom. Maybe with another app like PocketCM, Keyboard CM or ???
Thank you again and best regards

Only way to find out is to take them off, then install tom tom and then test the device. If all is well, then add back one program at a time and test.
You may actually find that instaling them in a different order fixes it (some early WM6 roms would only allow some apps to work if you installed them after certain others and before yet more).
Thank you again for you replies. Yesterday on midday the problem was here again, no ringtones on incoming calls. Not even the restore of a backup made previously helped. One day before the restore could solve the problem.
I decided in agreement with the HTC Support and the service centre to send the device to the service center for repair. I really hope that they can solve the problem.

I as well am having this problem! It is extremely annoying as I have already taken the phone back and had it replaced and now the new one is doing the same thing.
I also had TomTom installed though?
Don't update to the newest TOMTOM using the Home Application. The update isnt even for the TYTN II, it's for other devices that need it. My TOMTOM version is 6.010 (7720) GPS Driver v1.20 MAP USA and CANADA v650.1109 - v675.1409
Everything works perfect including Trafic and I do not use the TOMTOM HOME for the fact that I do not need any sh-tware on my PC.

Today I phoned to the repair centre where I sent my device to. They told me, that the TyTN II is already on the way back to me. They changed the flexboard. I suppose this is approximately the same like the mainboards in the computers. I hope I'll get it today an I hope really that the problem has been solved. I will install the tools I need and then let's see...

Yesterday I got my TyTN II back from the repair centre.
But it's unbelievable, the same problem occured this morning again. No ringtone played on incoming calls. And now the battery cover doesn't fit good to the device now. It's so annoying! I have to send the device back to the service centre again. I can't believe it!

Fixing Ringtones
I had this problem and worked out how to fix it.
Look at the following Reg Key (change midifile to mp3file for mp3 issues)
Delete any EventSoundHandlers already in place and add this Key.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\midifile\Shellex\EventSoundHandlers\{245F94CF-DD9C-46F9-B4C8-D2B14A877893}]
@="XME EventSound Player"
Problem fixed.

I installed the Advanced Config application a while ago (V2), was looking through it today and decided to add the 3G option to the comm manager and remove the MS push thing, when I saved those my comm manager seems a bit screwed up now no matter what settings I use in the AC application. Can someone advise how to get it back to the defaults.
Thanks

Says it right there in the link I posted.....
"Beam = Turn Beam ON/OFF
When On = your phone can receive files (Via BT) --> also more battery consuming when on.
When Off = Your Phone Can't."
Hi all,
I have just purchased a t-mobile ameo and have so far unlocked and upgraded to wm6. I have a BT bluetooth headset which I have linked with my device and is saved as wireless headset BUT when I turn it on, I am asked for a passcode (there isn't one!) and as a result, I can't use it.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Phil
Hi again, you seem to take the same way I went with my Ameo...ROM, BT problems, contacts problems etc. ;-)
The passcode to nearly all BT devices - if not stated otherwise in your headset manual - is 0000, type it in and try.
Under settings/connections/bluetooth there should also be an entry "security" or so which states "authentication (passkey) required", if you turn it off (not recommended), it should work without a passkey.
Hi again Will,
I've checked all that, security is turned off yet it still asks for a passkey when I turn on the headset and try to make a call. When I first connected the headset, I tried 0000 but it is rejected?!?
Oh, while I have you...
I've just installed tomtom 6 and am having a few issues:
1. Tomtom is listed on the today screen but will not load from there
2. it doesn't appear in my programs folder, I have to go to file explorer/my device/program files/navigator/tomtom
is there anyway to make it easier to access? It's not a problem, just a chore.
Is there anyway to get running programs option on the today screen? it was the on the lower left option before I unlocked etc...
Cheers again for your help and patience.
Phil
You should also try 1234.

1. headset: then it should be another passkey, depending on your headset vendor, maybe you can find more help there, sorry.
2. TomTom: seems to me that it wasn't installed properly or maybe you've loaded a Today-skin that doesn't work 100% with it?
...first try to add TomTom by looking in settings/personal?/menus (it should be listed there, otherwise the program is definately not installed properly) perhaps you should then un- and reinstall it (my first TomTom6 worked immediately on a Dell Axim X5)
3. Running programs: are you referring to taskmanager which shows running applications/processes? I'm not sure if it is present in an official ROM (I'm using MichyPrima 5.1), search in programs for it, if its there you can then add it to today or start menu via the settings.
Hey will,
I'll try the new code tomorrow, my "copy" of tomtom looks like it doesn't install correctly so I'll have to try another. When i say running programs, it's the section of memory which tells you which programs are still running in the background.
By the way I'm using spb which has helped with certain customizations.
On a separate note, has anyone tried installing shadow of legend (mmorpg)? I wanna give it a try BUT it either won't copy across or freezes my system.
Cheers Phil
Did you try 1234?
1234 worked!
Thanks bud
