I installed the Advanced Config application a while ago (V2), was looking through it today and decided to add the 3G option to the comm manager and remove the MS push thing, when I saved those my comm manager seems a bit screwed up now no matter what settings I use in the AC application. Can someone advise how to get it back to the defaults.
Thanks
Hard Reset. We do it every day over here!
Before you hard reset try this .cab.....running fine here....

Thanks, that worked.

Says it right there in the link I posted.....
"Beam = Turn Beam ON/OFF
When On = your phone can receive files (Via BT) --> also more battery consuming when on.
When Off = Your Phone Can't."

I have had problem after problem with the various comm managers out there. From blue tooth issues to inoperability of WLAN. As of now I have uninstalled the add-ons but the comm manager is void of icons and probably is not working. WLAN is not connecting at all. It seems that something remaining from the add-on is keeping it from enabling since I did a hard boot and so it connect for about 3 seconds. How do I get the default ATT comm back?
Thanks,
Dan
If you have a handy backup, it's your life saver. Otherwise, hard reset will bring back the default Comm Manager. FYI, here is a 10 buttons that works on Tilt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1430168&postcount=3. you dl the last one "For 10 Button CommManager with 3G Only and GPRS Only switch", unzip then install "for the others.."
I did a hard reset and it DID NOT bring back the comm. I stupidly had not been backing up.
I installed a 10 button comm newer than the link you gave and meant for the exact device I have, not a general one. And it was programmed by the same guy. I do not think installing that one will do the trick.
I make this CAB with default parameters of my black CommManager...
Test it and post the results if you want. I have used in the past in my TyTN II to revert to default CommMamanager after testing other CABs out there, and works fine for me.
Good luck.
Ok you rock. It looks like it worked. It doesn't look like the original Tilt comm but it appears to have the same finction and it accomplished my objective. The problem I was having was with the WLAN. I was able to load up some of the other comm's but I could not turn the WLAN on and off. It would stick one way or the other. After loading that cab I was finally able to switch it.
It all started while I was on the car trying to take a call through the blue tooth. The blue tooth rang but the phone is what picked up. After that the comm went mostly black. Uninstalled the comm and the default comm did not come back and some of the functions of the other comm seemed to remain in the registry.
I am still looking for a comm that has internet sharing as a button instead of wireless modem. I downloaded one that had it in the picture but when installed it actually had Modem instead.
Thanks
Yes, I had downloaded & installed "10Buttons for Hermes" and my wifi function button died, then I loaded the "Kaiser.CommManager.10Button.3GOnly.Switch.For.Other." wifi function comes back as the orginal. Now everything works as it should, plus I can turn on/off 3G to save the batt. BTW, my tilt runs on Helmi cooked ROM Big storage (based on att&t)
Just found another thread to fix WLAN button; post #23: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332438&page=3
Good luck to you.
Loading that cab still disables my wifi. I guess I have to modify the reg directly. What is the best way to regedit? Is there a program already on the tilt?
Now when I load JCES's cab I lose the icons again. I am going to go ahead and do a restore. Something I should have done before I started all the cabs but I am an idiot. I did a restore after JCES cab fixed the problem.
I have an orange tytn II (uk). I recently installed the Duttythroy 10 button
3g Comm Manager, which is excellent. However, since then my kaiser won't go to sleep when it's meant to (i.e. after a time out of a minute). I have to push the on/off button on the side. I've isolated this to the fact that Activesync is running. It runs in the background because I have push email set up. if I turn off activesync manually my pda sleeps perfectly. This was not a problem with the original non-3g 9 button comm manager. Any tips on how to get it sleeping again? I've gone back to the original manager, but the problem persists.

Tuck it in and sing a nice lullaby!
Anyway, if you just loaded the ROM and haven't loaded all your programs yet, I would do a hard-reset once. It's recommended most of the time after a ROM upgrade. Try that, load the 10-button comm manager again. If the problem persists, hard-reset again and just use the previous 9-button comm manager that worked for you.
I tried singing but that just made things worse! you should hear my voice.
Actually I'm still using the original orange rom, just debranded somewhat with various CABs. maybe that is the cause of the problem. I'm not sure if the 10 button Com manager was designed to be installed on an upgraded rom. If I did a hard reset, would the original factory settings return, or is it possible they have been altered by the comm manager cab?
Matthew
A hard reset will, in your case, return you to the stock O rom that your device came with.
You can then a) set up your sync to get contacts etc back and b) install cabs to customise.
I keep all my favourite cabs in a folder on my micro sd card so I can reinstall if I need to.
yes, I have all of the cabs saved already. I guess it would just mean getting work to set up my push email again, then my device would I guess sync with the server and I'd be back up and running. thanks for the advice.
Matthew
Hi all,
I am on Dutty's apr-29 rom and here is my issue..
My kaiser is connected to my work pc with activesync installed and i am unable to use internet on my device... I can update htc weather with no worries but the pie and skyfire doesn't work... the strange thing is that netfront browser works just fine so iam not sure if its a proxy issue or not???
I would like to use skyfire if possible so pls let me know what can i do to make it work.
Thanks alot
First thing I'd try is to reboot the computer AND soft reset the phone. If that doesnt work, try disabling advanced network... under connections usb to pc.
ps- in the future, its recommended NOT to start a new thread for something like this, but post it in the rom's thread (duttys in your case)
hi, i have the same problem...but I still using the standard ATT rom...

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply, I tried what you suggested but still no luck..
I honestly don't know...the fact that you are able to update the weather but not others has me stumped. Has it always behaved this way? Can you do a complete system backup using sprite and hard resest, before you restore, connect it to activesync (you do not need to configure it to sync with your device, iow just cancel the first screen) and see if you can use pie or check your email. If you can then there must be a problem with your settings somewhere, but if you cant then just use sprite for a full system restore and you should be back to where you were and maybe someone else can help.
For what its worth when I first got my tilt it would not use the internet no matter which way I tried (ota or activesync). Then it magically just started working.
hello once again,
Ok so here is the thing... i played around with it a bit more and was able to get pie to work.. but everything else still doesn't work (windows live, skyfire, etc..)
I went to connections>>advanced>>select network>> on this screen i selected "My ISP" for the top menu and "My Work Network" for the bottom menu... By making this change pie is now working but still no luck with skyfire..
Note: i do not have a data plan so MY ISP menu is empty, i usually use skyfire with wifi or when connected to my laptop at home
PS: I didn't do a hard reset because i dont think it has anything to do with rom upgrade...i have flashed my device like 47 times in last 2 months and have had the same issue with every rom i've tried including the original htc rom. Everything works jsut fine when when my device is connected to my laptop at home using activesync.
I think you would still have the problem after a hard reset. Mine has the problem now on the standard Tilt ROM. The wierd part is it didnt when I first set it up and was running the internet through cerdisp. I guess I need to look into it too, but I havent been going crazy trying to find it.
What version of activesync are you using?
Iam using Activesync 4.5..
Have you tried disabling your windows firewall?
Dumb Question
If the phone is connected to your work PC, why would you use the browser on the phone and not the work computer?
If you are worried about what the boss might see - here's the problem with that - can't they just monitor the server traffic anyway, whether you use the phone or the computer, since you would be using the work's server?
What i do at work - first make sure there are no keyboard loggers - second use the internet on the phone and disable the ethernet on the computer.
I remember an option somewhere in the syncing process about allowing income data connections - I dont know exactly what it does, but i will try to find it and post something
EDIT - it was an option to allow wireless incoming data to phone while connected to activesync.
If your talking about tethering, then you're doing it wrong.
Make sure your Activesync isn't connecting to your phone in the first place. Turn off the "USB" connect in the settings for Activesync.
THen go on your phone and open up the "windows" and look for a file called "intshr" or something like that. Open it up and then hit connect.
You don't need to change any settings for the Media Net if you're using the AT&T rom.

Well the only reason i wanna use my device and not the work pc is beacuse all the major sites like hotmail, youtube, facebook are blocked but they all work on my device using "only" netfront browser..

you must edit the registry
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000

Not Sure What you mean.
1. Go to comm manager
2. Hit WiFI and the wait icon starts (should be a quick spin and its on, but the icon goes on for a while).
3. Switch instead of turning green animates back to off.
I have not loaded anything other then SKtools that could change the registry or system in anyway (no other tweaks except Schapp's)
I looked all over this forum and found tricks for other HTC phones, tried one or two, but they are made for other phones. I looked over the GPS and in Google Earth disabled it. I have also done a hard reset. I also get a device.exe error.
Please somebody help us. My diamond's wi-fi doesn't work. I try a lot of tfink. I try a lot of time hard reset. And several times upgrade diffrent roms. Now i use 1.37.401 europa rom. But my diamond's wi-fi still not work.

Did you set your battery for best performance in the wifi configuration? If not, try it and see if it works then
Yes.. the wifi is not working ,... the same for the gps...
Mines the same. Done a soft reset - nothing. Done a hard reset and all seems fine for the mo.
Got my phone from orange.

I have the same problem with german htc touch diamond and several roms.
I think the hardware has an error. Bull**** !!!
Has anyone an other idea?
I had this issue with my S710, if you turned the wifi on it would flip to on for a second before going back to off - only happened if I has it hooked up to a pc via usb. Not sure if its the same with the diamond?
I couldn't enable Wifi properly on my last phone despite hard and soft resets. After trying lots of times, I gave up and sent the phone back to Orange. I currently have a Diamond Touch that has no problems enabling, but can't connect to my router using WPA2.
I think I have the solution for wifi / wlan problems on diamond
Over one week i try to start my wifi (100 hardresets, 5 new ROMs) and then i believe it is an hardware error.
Under ...\connection\wifi\ was not the tab "wireless", only the tab "networkcards"
My last try was the solution:
1. In my HTC Kaiser is the same wifi-hardware
2. I export the registrykey "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETW12511" from the kaiser to a .reg-file
3. I delete this registrykey on the diamond and import the .reg-file from the kaiser
4. Before I can start wifi i make about 5 softresets and try to start
5. But the start was only successful when I make first a connection to the pc with ActiveSync and then a softreset
This is my solution, please answer me when it works for you too
One problem is still there: after an usb connection wifi will not turn on. I must make a softreset but thats no problem for me.
Its the same what "huwwatkins" describe at #13 with the S710
Here is my regfile from kaiser

I have heard of this... The wifi does not go on but the bluetooth does. I was told it was a bad chip.
same here, called retailer today. told me HTC is working on a fix. will be available in about two weeks. let ya know
Same problem here..
I have the same problem. Tried everything - no luck. Thinking of turning it in for repair - should I flash the original SPL/ROM for warranty reasons or can they tell it's been flashed anyway ?
wifi working fine on mine
i have no problems at all

Hi to all
I had problem with "quickgps"
then i downloaded it and reinstalled it
after i didn't used my kaiser with gps programs for about a month
Today i have tried to use tom-tom and other gps program
but only result is that tom-tom and others program (igo, google map etc..)
don't find any gps , and message they say is
" no gps ! flight mode"
i tryed to soft reset , disconnect battery but nothing
internal gps like disappeared
I haven't installed any roms and i have only original when i bought it
i would appreciate any help
thank !
check your wireless manager. maybe you have flight mode selected,
your gps is not dead
its something to do with ur configration
either u r in flight mode as the warning message suggest
or
u have changed the port of gps connectivity
Gps still dead
Thank you for quick reply
i tried to check if flight-mode was on or not
then i checked
gps port config here is:
data port :com 4
hardport : none
acces : automatic checked
tom tom igo message is :"no gps device"
igo says :"gps not found"
in these days i never modified these values
i think i have to do a hard reset
i dont know what happened
Thank
You never want to use the GPS Settings applet in the control panel. It will break the GPS and require a hard reset to fix.

What do you mean 'tried to' check? Either you checked comm manager or you didn't. Was it in flight mode or not? I'm sure your GPS hasn't died, it'll just be a configuration issue and if you've been fiddling with settings you needn't have fiddled with and changing them back doesn't work, as NotATreoFan mentions, a hard reset may be the simplest cure (along with caution next time).
I just wish full sized PCs had the simple option of performing a hard reset rather than having to do numerous reinstalls or even a system recovery using a supplied recovery CDROM or hidden partition. PPC users have it easy when it comes to rectifying software 'misconfigurations'.
I had a similar problem, and I flashed another radio than flahsed again to the one that gived me trouble...an bingo, GPS start working again )
