[Q] C6603 Driver Issues, Please Help! - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I've flashed my Z previously, with Generic BE firmware, version 4.3.
I done this successfully, with no issues encountered. I've flashed previous handsets too, so not exactly a noob.
I'm now trying to flash the Generic ES version 4.4.2 to the device, because the BE update still hasn't arrived.
But every time I do, Flashtool tells me the drivers are missing. But they're not, I've installed them.
I've no idea what's going wrong. I've installed & re-installed the drivers at every flashing attempt, the latest 20140318 drivers.
I've installed the Flashmode & Xperia Z (and SO-02E) drivers, before flashing, but every time I try to flash, it tells me the drivers are missing...
Can anyone help or advise? It's unusual, because it's normally quite straightforward.
Thanks in advance.

Hey man, thanks for replying so quick, would like to get this done tonight.
In have the latest flashtool, I also tried installing the flashmode, fastboot & xperia z drivers to no avail.
But once I installed those drivers, from the 20140318 pack, I simply tried to flash the device.
So what you're saying is to;
*Install the drivers.
*Run fast boot mode.
*Then run flashmode.
I presume, as with flashing, I need to have the device turned off when attempting fast boot mode?
If you could confirm, thanks. I don't fancy any bricking or bootlooping, it's gettin late...!

Yes, I just downloaded the newest version of Flashtool last night, 0.9.16.0.
When you say 'open Flashtool, press the lightning button, select Fastboot select the ftf file' - do you mean select Flashmode? Because that's what I've been doing, and it hasn't been working.
When I select Fastboot, it pops up with a screen asking to Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB), select Kernel to HotBoot, Get Ver Info, Check Current Device Status, Select system to flash, etc.
I presume I don't use these options? Because they don't correspond with what you're telling me to do. Selecting the FTF through Flashmode does. There's no option to select an FTF in Fastboot mode.

So yes, that's what I've been doing, and despite installing all 2/3 driver packs (flashmode, fastboot, xperia z) it keeps telling me the drivers are missing when I try to flash. So we've come full circle. And I'm still none the wiser.
Trying it again now...
*All 3 drivers installed.
*Selected 'flashmode', and 'flash'.
*Preparing files for flashing..... (takes a few moments)
*Say Please connect your device into flashmode.
*Window pops up asking to hold down button and connect to flash...
And then I get this;
30/043/2014 23:43:47 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
30/043/2014 23:43:52 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.

I've installed the drivers. I know what I'm doing. That's exactly why it's gotten to the stage where I'm so frustrated that I've had to reach out on the forums here...!!!
Thanks for your help though, if you have any other ideas, let me know, hopefully I can get around this somehow.

XPERIA X8 boot problem

I installed ICS on my XPERIA X8 and it freezes at boot. And I cannot go to recovery mode, where is my backup. I know I need to use FlashTool but I don't know how to use it, because it says:

Hot to connect the phone?
With " Press and hold back button then plug in the usb cable"?
Now I can flash it but it isn't reboot just say device disconnected, then device connected in flash mode, then device disconnected, then flashing aborted
nearly the same problem here trying to unlock the bootloader on my E15i.
Would appreciate if anyone has a suggestion how to overcome this. Thanks
Try this

What?! First of all - not volume down but BACK button.
In flashtool directory You will have drivers folder. Install those drivers. Then reboot Your PC. Copy Your firmware package into firmwares in flashtool directory (.ftf files). Than run flashtool, click on flash, choose the package, click ok, flashtool will aks You to connect Your phone in flash mode. Plug USB cable into PC. Plug in USB cable into phone and while doing this You must hold back button. And flashtool should recognize Your device and start flashing.

I'm trying GingerDX now, and I making an ''XPERIA X8 MEGAPACK''
Anyway, I do not know why this is:
When I first installed gingerDX i have installed many apps. And when I'll removed this backup, and I installed this rom again, the phone freezes at the boot screen.
(I know how to do it. I flashed the stock rom from my backup, and It is working. But I cannot make a backup from this rom
Because You should do a full wipe When You install ROM again there are some files from old one. And this may cause boot problem
Hi, I've tried this but it doesn't work. My phone just keeps rebooting itself after SE logo animation is done. What can i do?

Generally speaking, bootloops imply you are missing the x15 Baseband required for custom ROMs to work: Follow the mediafire link in B.Jay's profile and find the x15 Baseband corresponding to your X8 version (It's in the sticker under the battery)... Hope this helps.
EDIT: Update your FlashTool Version!!!! http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/

Yes it is, it happens for all xperia models
Ll give you the idea
1. Install flashtool beta 5
2. Install Xperia Z flashmode and fastboot drivers from drivers folder of flashtool installation directory
3. Copy the ftf to firmwares folder
4. Don't connect the phone, now flash the ftf and wait till it prepares the files for flashing (believe me this WILL take a while)
5. Now when it asks to connect after preparing, switch off the device and connect by pressing the volume down button
6. Now it starts! Solved?

Thank you for that guide
I followed your steps but the same happens, phone disconnects from flashmode to boot normally. I even tried using a Windows 7 pc but same issue.
However, if I use SUS phone remains connected and the process runs well. If i connect with flashtool (or without any programme at all) it will disconnect after some seconds,
smash_07 install pc companion and go through the steps for doing a software repair it will install the drivers, as the drivers dont always install properly from the flashtool drivers folder even though it says there installed, once the s1 boot drivers have installed cancel the software repair and then open flashtool and go through the normal steps and you should find it'll start flashing the software for you, as I had problems like you until I did what I posted, also make sure there is no other sony apps running as that can stop the flash from starting.

Confused, it is normal that it gets disconnected after some time but it is so peculiar that it disconnects so fast! Try the solution posted by the other guy and share the solution, ll figure out another way if it fails
Ps: Before starting flashtool make sure that adb isn't running. Open task manager in windows, kill adb.exe if present and then open flashtool, follow the guide I posted earlier and when the part comes that the preparation of files is complete and when you connect your device, make sure that none of sony related apps are running (sus, pcc, emma). If they do, EXIT them first (closing them will minimise them to system tray so exit them from there). This also can be done before opening flashtool.

I did all you suggested but in the end i get always the same result, phone disconnects from flashboot shortly after connecting, eccept inside Sony Update Service or PC Companion.
I unistalled all the drivers, even Sony's apps a reinstalled PC companion to install the drivers again. I used another pc with Windows 7 32bits and I get the same behavior, disconnects from flashmode in about 30 seconds.
I'm starting to think that there's someting wrong with the phone itself, which i hope not.

The issue has changed now, the percentage was because i was not using the correct flashtool version for the the Z.
The problem now is the phone disconnecting from flashmode in about 30 secs after connecting and flashtool never gets to start flashing it,

I tried both ways, with the flashtool drivers and pc companion ones.
Am confused, 30 secs is more than enough to start the flashing process, are you saying that the flashing doesn't start in 30 secs? If so, that's why I told you not to connect the phone at start and after the preparation of files is complete and when it asks you to connect, try connecting and immediately the process should begin. Even if you have connected the device before, no probs. Flashtool don't need the phone till preparation of files is complete, so you disconnect whenever befor you want, the time where it pops a popup asking you to connect the device (shows an animation) is where you should properly conmect and leave it aside. It will and it should start immediately

Got the problem!
It was the firmware package that is corrupted. I tried using the UK .434 instead and it flashed with no problems or hickups. So the drivers and the phone were working well all along and the problem was where we less expected, in the firmware package.
I got the UK .350 firmware from here so there must be an error that has to be addressed with it.
Many thanks for your help
Glad you made it, cheers!

I found that running the 32 bit version of Flashtool solves the problem as well.
me too but my phone is TX, using flashtool 0.9.19.8
Hi all, if anyone is having trouble flashing with flash tool because usb debugging isn't enabled error then do this procedure.......
1. Dowload latest flash tool 0.9.18.8 and also version 0.6.6
2. Try use the latest version first to Flash the tft rom. NOTE: remember the file it has error flashing e.g on my experia sp file system.sin was not able to Flash bcoz usb debugging error (enable usb debugging and unknown sources) ALL THE REST of the files flashed ok!
3.try flash again the rom but this time tick system.sin (or error file) in flashtool to exclude it from flashing. Make sure all other files are included. Also tick all wipe caches options and flash rom without system.sin (or error file).
4. Flash procedure will work. Now disconnect phone and leave it off without restarting it.
5. Uninstall flashtool latest version 0.9.18.8 and install flashtool 0.6.6 old version and open it to Flash the same rom BUT THIS TIME only select the system.sin file (or error file) to be flashed and rest excluded. Make sure all wipe options in flashtool are enabled and Flash! THE FLASH WILL WORK WITHOUT USB DEBUGGING ERROR and your phone will be fixed!
Press thanks if it helped!

[Q] Flashtool drivers and flashing from TWRP

I have two questions.
1. If I have an unlocked bootloader with TWRP installed, do I still need flashtool to flash kernels. This is specifically in relation to installing ihackers on my Xperia Z1. Can I flash iHackers Advanced Stock Kernel for iHacker's v2.1 for Xperia Z1, and the ROM irself as well as Kernel.ftf for C6903 (.290) from TWRP recovery?
2. I cannot seem to install Flashtool drivers using "flashtool-0.9.13.0-windows". I'm running Windows 8.1 and every time I attempt to install the drivers it returns a failed to install message.
Any help would be appreciated.
1. Yes, you'll need Flashtool as the kernel provided by iHackers is an FTF file, which can only be flashed via Flashtool and not via recovery. You can only flash zip files in recovery.
2. See here for how to install Flashtool drivers in Windows 8.1.

Cheers.
One more question, when I connect to my device in flashmode, it will disconnect after 10 seconds, and my device will boot by itself.

It should be, as long as everything is installed you're fine. Did you install the custom ROM?

No, not yet, I was worried that it would disconnect half way through flashing

Same result holding the vol down key - its actually 60 seconds exactly before it disconnects and reboots.

Is there a config file setting to change this to make it longer?
Just to clarify things - the iHacker kernel I can flash in TWRP as its a zip file, while the Xperia kernel and baseband have to use flash tool as its an FTF file.

This is strange. Should not happen if you keep pushing volume down and actually there are not any configuration needed to make this longer.
Did you let windows install the drivers before open Flashtool?
---------- Post added at 09:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:40 PM ----------
Try also different cable and different USB port and repeat the procedure.

Yep, tried a different port (all my ports are USB 3.0) and different cable but same result. Yes the drivers installed once I had disabled driver signature verification. Is it just the Z1 driver I need or do I need to install Flashmode drivers as well (I installed the latter recently, hoping it would fix the issue, but to no avail).
Might attempt the Free Xperia Rom that only requires fastboot to install.

[Q] Error while using flashtool

I have the latest build and i'm trying to downgrade it but i have an error while flashing it. Here's the error.
ERROR - Processing of loader.sin finished with errors.
Can't seem to find the problem. I've redownload and tried other roms but its still the same.
My process is i will open the flash tool and flash the tft file then wait for a message to pop up then i will press volume down and insert the USB.
But i've seened in the tutorial that i have to first press volume down and insert the USB before flashing. But when i used that method my phone will open by itself.

U said that you press volume down and connect USB right. The method is volume down + power button and connect USB. Try that.

This is incorrect. You only hold volume down for flashmode.

C6603.. Hey, i'm trying to fastboot my device so i can unlock my bootloader. But when the driver is installing on my computer. It fails. And when i look into the Device Manager of my computer. The Sony ADB Interface has a yellow exclamation. I think that's the reason why i can't flash or fastboot

To install fastboot drivers install flashtool
http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
after installation navigate to flashtool folder in c drive, open driver folder
run the flashtool drivers setup, select flash mode and fast boot drivers and finish installation
put your phone in fastboot mode it will install the drivers automatically
Check USB Debugging is ON ? otherwise it wont work
USB debugging does not have to be activated to flash an FTF. Flashtool uses the same protocol as the official Sony Update Service and that doesn't require USB debugging to be activated.
How do you think you can flash on phones that don't even have anything on /system?

I tried flashing 4.4.2 on my 4.3 device and it was giving me the same error .. .When i Switched on USB Debugging , it fixed my problem ...
Coincidence. I've flashed roms on phones that haven't even had the developer options activated. USB debugging is only if you need to use ADB.
If it fixes the problem, then great, but there's no reason why it should and it would confuse me greatly if it did.

softbricked z3c

hi!
first off all thank you all for contributing to this forum, you guys really rule!
i have a problem....
as the title say i softbricked my z3 compact trying to flash MM on it.
i forgot to click the "allow unknown sources" on the phone before he procedure
i know, i`m stupid. my bad
but now when i tried to flash even stock kitkat on it the flashtool errors in one moment sayin "for flashtool unknown sources has to be enabled"
going thru the forum i saw a thread about the usb debugging mode
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778437
he fixed it with using an older version of flashtool, but when i install an older version it asks to connect by pressing the back button not the volume down to enable flashing mode...
so i have 2 questions...
is there a way to flash without having the unknown sources on?
i installed the adb all-in-one but not successful to implement the command using the terminal
how to enable flashmode by using an older version when i dont have a back button? (its not arc s )
1. You don't need unknown sources enabled to flash
2. To flash hold down the volume down button while plugging your phone into the computer
Click the THIS LINK to my thread about a bricked Z3C

Do you have the the Sony drivers installed?
Did you install the ADB drivers (run the exe in the drivers folder within Flashtool folder). If you have Windows 10 this last step is difficult, you have to restart the machine in safe mode and disable driver signature checking.
You must have your phone turned off completely before you start (power button and volume up till you get three vibrations), leave it unplugged from the PC
Start flashtool and select which ftf you want to use, Exclude TA, press build. wait for the invitation from flashtool to plug your phone in. Then hold the volume down as you insert the usb plug, you can let go as soon as it starts doing something
There is a guide to the flashtool here, beware it's a powerful tool capable of bricking your phone
